[Q] Installation Aborted - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying to flash rom and keep getting message that says cant open (Bad) installation aborted

Need to post more info, but from that it sounds like it was just a bad download. Try redownloading it

It was the Download it said it completed but it really didn't

I started having this problem, first it was every so often until it became everything I downloaded and moved to my phone that was larger than 75 meg. It turned out to be bad usb ports on my computer. Using my laptop I had no issues but when I used the desktop to transfer roms, videos ect they would all be corrupt. Hope this is not happening to you. Even files I moved to external drives ended up being corrupt. Try moving a large video file and see if you get pixelation and freezing, if you do you may be starting to have the same issues I started having.

Yeah, that usually means the zip you're trying to use to flash is bad. Delete and redownload.
If you're downloading directly to your phone; try doing it to a computer first and then copy it over to the sdcard after.

[Q] New memory card wont install ROM

I received a new 16gb Kingston Micro SD, copied all of my files across. When I boot into recovery and select the ROM I get a message saying can not open file (bad).
I have re downloaded and dropped on the SD card and I still get the same message.
I formatted it with rom manager before I used it.
Is it likely the SD card is faulty? If so is there a way of confirming this?
Thanks in advance.
Is the ROM availible from several sources? If so, have you tried re-downloading the rom from those sources? It might be that the .zip source filei tself is corrupt. Alternatively, try downloading it to a different location on your computer. This has actually helped me in similar cases.
You could also try extracting the .zip to your computer. If I remember correctly, the extracting will fail pretty quickly if the .zip package is corrupt.
If it's not the .zip file, you could always try to dump some music files on the SD card and try playing those, or maybe a video file. My guess is that if the SD card itself is faulty, you will get errors while trying to play music / video. Just a guess though, not tried this myself.

Thanks, I have download it a few times from a couple of different sources. The md5 also matches.
I'll try dropping some music on later.

[Q] Syndicate 1.2 Problem

Evertime i try & flash srf-1.2-final.zip this appears:
E: Cant open /sdcard/srf-1.2-final.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
This also appears when i try to flash genocide.
What Am I Doing Wrong?
Try redownloading the ROM and give it a shot

tried that for both syndicates & it didnt work ''/
Sounds like a corrupt memory card. Back up what you can to your desktop and format the card from the desktop. Transfer your files back and try again.
It could also be in combination with bad downloads. Though, I never get why dev's on XDA don't provide md5 hashes for their files. Makes determining a bad download or not guess work.
formatting now. I'll let you know what happens when im done with everything.
It Got even worse now.
My sd card doesn't appear on my phone, but it appears when I put it in th computer & in clockwork.
Any suggestions?

[Q][ROM] Sabsa Prime bad Zip-file

I'm having a problem downloading the latest version (8.0) of Sabsa Prime, there is something wrong with the file for me, Clockwork mod says:
E: Can't open /sdcard/Sabsa_Prime_v8.0_By_AlirezaB.zip (bad)
Installation aborted.
Winrar is also giving me an error message when i try to unzip the file:
! C:\Users\Denocle\Downloads\Sabsa_Prime_v8.0_By_AlirezaB.zip: The archive is corrupt
! C:\Users\Denocle\Downloads\Sabsa_Prime_v8.0_By_AlirezaB.zip: The archive is corrupt
! C:\Users\Denocle\Downloads\Sabsa_Prime_v8.0_By_AlirezaB.zip: CRC failed in system\lib\libbcc.so. The file is corrupt
! C:\Users\Denocle\Downloads\Sabsa_Prime_v8.0_By_AlirezaB.zip: The archive is corrupt
Also, the MD5 checksum is not the same as posted, which might explain the problem.
I get: aa87dfd96a11bebaa8412d64f55c2dfd
It's supposed to be: 996edf1644e65f972ac8a497d5d7c881
This has happen before with other Sabsa Prime updates but not all, for example, v6.0 worked for me.
I've tried to disable my virus protection and redownload the file three times, but it hasn't helped.
Could someone who have downloaded the file get it mirrored for me or something?
Just redownload it.
If it doesn't work, try again with another PC / device.
Run a memory test to test ram. If it shows errors try restarting and see if they go away. Also clear out any temporary folders and delete the current download and clear recycle bin. Your pc is writing corrupt data to drive, which is usually ram or bad sectors on drive.

try re downloading or get it from another source. If it happens again, try downloading it from another PC.

Thanks, I restarted my computer and did a disk check, it didn't find anything but I was able to download the file without problems, I'm doing a memory check right now to see if there is anything wrong with my RAM.

Can't copy to SD or internal storage

I've been searching since yesterday since and have yet to see this issue. I flashed a ROM yesterday and now I can't copy to SD or internal. I don't even remember which ROM caused it I restored my backup before that happened and still can't copy. I can download a ROM on the phone and install it I just can't copy anything when connected to a PC. I've tried on Win7 and Win8 with no luck. I've formatted SD, tried a different cable, uninstalled/re-installed drivers and USB debugging is selected. I can copy from the phone to the computer but not from computer to phone. The only thing I can think of is flash back to stock and re-root and see if that fixes it.
This is the error I get when attempting to copy
The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected

or you can also try different usb ports and if that doesn't work try running all the same troubleshooting steps on a different pc and see if there's any difference.

Try using the drivers from my signature on your Win7 machine.
Thanks for the suggestions :highfive:
I seem to have fixed it. I used the Samsung Galaxy S3 toolkit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682)
and just did the root option (even though it was rooted already) and after that I was able to copy again There are still a couple of ROM zip files I couldn't copy so I am assuming that the files may be corrupted or something. I haven't been able to re-download them again to test out that theory though.

An error has occured. Unknown error (code 14). Could not open database

I recently got a 64gb card and decided to try and get the extsd2internalsd script running on my rom. I got it working but I kept noticing my files kept getting saved to my sdcard so after reading abiut why I tried formatting the sd.
Well since then ive had nothing but problems. Ive installed stock and multiple custom roms but neither my extsd or sd can read properly. The corrupt video and picture files instantly. I can see my files in es file manager but in astro I get this code 'an error has occured. Unknown error (code 14) could not open database. What is weird is that it does still save. It saves app and app data fine and music through the play music. Im at a loss as to what it is and how to sort it.
I have formatted multiple times and cleared caches and permissions.
Has anyone come about this before or know how to correct it.
Edit - when trying to download a tv show through utorrent it starts downloading then shows 'error ready on file system'
