I thought in Froyo, its supposed to show the 8 recently used apps when holding the Home key? It still shows 6 for me.

You are correct in that Froyo has 8 recent apps on the app switcher. But I am going to guess that the reason that there is still 6 on the Epic is because of TouchWiz.

There was an issue using stock 2.1 with touchwiz having to be reset as the default home screen, when hitting "home" shortcut, if the phone had too many Apps open at once. That was no big deal. Now on EB13 with touchwiz 2.2. 1, it force closes and becomes unusable. I like touchwiz and figured out that if I don't open the keyboard while home and don't shortcut home from multiple open apps... I can use it. I would like to upgrade touchwiz, can we do that without rooting? Any other suggestions to fix are welcome.

Had a quick question, Im running icslitebeta and was wondering if i could somehow make a on screen shortcut to running apps? Like when you hold down the home button for a few seconds? I looked on google and the closest thing i found about it was to download an app that goes to a recent app selection. Only problem with that app is its there screen. I like the way the running apps or recent apps list look on ics beta. what im wanting to do is put it in the dockbar, So im using honeycomb three icon buttons and put the last one with a custom shortcut and change the icon to match,Any ideas?
Am still needing help with it.

I know if your running stock gingerbread all you have to do is hold the home button but you aren't. I'm not sure if there is any way that I know of. I'll do some googling for you and let you know.
pressing and holding the home button on the Note 2 will bring up the Task Manager and Recent Apps, a list of your last used apps appears, including a view of last used apps,
Is there a way to hide the mini view of the used apps?,
In Note 1 with gingerbread, the list of recent apps, only shows the icon of the used apps, but with Jelly Bean, appear a mini view of the used apps,
i want to hide the mini view of the apps, or well, only the icons like GB,
is there a way to do that? I'm on stock TouchWiz with JB 4.1.2

Just swipe away the ones you don't want to show.
Also I think in developer options somewhere these is a setting to kill the app immediately upon exit of you want to try that route.
So I switched to nova launcher and now my recent apps is buggy. Once I clear all and I go ahead and use apps again and open recent apps, I see nothing. I have to reopen it several times to see anything....have anyone experience this?
Yes I've had that too. I'm using nova now also but can't remember if I was having the issue using lg launcher or not
I'm having this issue too, not sure if it's too blame on nova or something else though?
On 10a with the stock launcher I have to hit the recent apps button then hit it again to see what's open.
Confirmed this issue. Sometimes, hitting recents app goes to home screen instead of recent app screen.
I have no problem when using Nova and the Recent Apps list on my stock UK International SIM Free G3 when on both 10a and 10e.
Same here.
Stock, rooted.
Happens infrequently on my nexus 5 also.
Curious if anyone else is experiencing issues with apps after the android 10 update
Specifically 3rd party launchers, and tasker.
launchers cannot display the recent apps screen properly is the main issue I found.
tasker cannot run certain variables because it isnt getting the information it needs. for example, %WIN variable.
anyone else experiencing this? Is this LG's version of android 10, or an android 10 issue in general?
I get the recent thing from nova launcher occasionally. After a restart it is really bad. But it eventually works again and all behaviors return to pre-10.
LG did the most asinine thing with their Android 10 build... they removed the recent apps code from the system and baked it into their stock Home launcher. If you use any launcher other than Home, when you try to open the recent apps, it's actually launching Home and displaying the recent apps that way. The only workaround I've found is to remove Home from power savings so that it's always in memory. Even that isn't perfect, but it's better than nothing.

The home app is responsible for recents and gestures always. I think other companies do exactly the same thing. There's usually a recents provider, which is the stock home app

If that were true, you would not be able to disable the stock launcher, which I have done on many phones with no issue.
