[Q] "cannot establish a reliable data connection" - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I hav bought a new HTC Desire HD android phone. I didnt add a google account in the beginning as I didnt have any GPRS or WiFi connection. Later when i tried to create a gogle account, I got the error as :
"cannot establish a reliable data connection".
I have done all the clear cache and clear data stuff.
I checked all APN settings.. My browser is working fine.
All I couldnt do is I cannot add a google account to my phone.
If I do hard reset,my APN settings will be erased, then how could i create a google account while GPRS is the only possible way here to connect to internet??
I read about this in many forums. Noone has given me a proper solution.
Please Help ASAP

This may sound dumb but have you tried to create a google account on the computer, then after you have done that, run the set up wizard. And just log in with the details you created on your computer

I attempted to add my gmail account into my phone. When I tried doing that,I got this error. We cannot use any other app without synchronising it with ur google account

Facebook for HTC Sense - Connection Error

When I'm trying to sync with facebook (via people>online directories>facebook) I get a connection error always. Facebook application works great. Also SyncMyPix didn't work(got: API Maybe Unavailable).
I know it's an old problem, but i didn't find the answer on any forum. I'm using stock froyo (Rooted).
I tried filling all missing information in facebook account (like city....) still not working.
I found that when i added the account in Accounts & Sync, i always get "The service is currently unavailable. do you want to try again" for the first time. Then when i press OK , i got connection error when syncing contact.
Anyone Can help me please. Untill now i don't what to do .

Confused and Frustrated...8-)

Hi,
I am being asked by a family member for some help. I should know what to do but at my age memory has let me down a little so I wonder if anyone can give sensible advice?
They have a Desire and are trying to use the Market. When they run through (over WiFi or GPRS) the setup wizard it fails them. Always at the same point. When they enter their Gmail account id and password the wizard goes off to verify this. They have a Data enabled SIM and can watch YouTube, surf the web, send and receive pop3 mails.
The wizard then fails and reports back that there is a network error. The exact message is:
Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server
This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care.
I have a painful memory that I had the same problem in the past. I cannot remember exactly what I did to fix it now (-(
I have created the gmail account separately and have entered the credentials but still cannot connect...
Can anyone solve this issue please?
All the best,
Sam
Try skipping the setup wizard, connect to WiFi then add email accounts manually via Settings>Accounts & Sync

May not help but others have suggested signing out of and back into the gtalk service - seems to help many with market problems.

[Q] [problem] HTC sense not syncing facebook contacts (with solution)

ok, when i typed the title i got 5 similar threads. but i'd like to post my own.
when i go to contacts>online directories> facebook> menu> refresh
i get a connnection error, and i get no contacts synced whatsoever.
however, i tried on some different internet connection and it worked.
it happened that i work for my own ISP, so i went to their servers and disabled the cache server. (my phone was reset after i RUU to stock).
once the cache server was disabled, i managed to sync all contacts.
i'm looking for an explanation, comment, anything...
thank you.
Install SyncMyPix from the Market ! Effective and simple

[How to solve] "Cannot establish a reliable data connection to google server"

[How to solve] "Cannot establish a reliable data connection to google server"
I was not able to add my google account in order to access market, gmail an so on, each time i tried i got the message "Can not establish a reliable data connection to google server".
I googled a lot just to find the only (horrible) solution that is the hard reset.
If you are experiencing the same trouble, don't get crazy, actually it is an awful bug in the android OS.
After several days and lot of search i found two much better solutions here:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3477
First of all try this:
- Root your phone
- Delete this folder: /data/data/com.android.providers.settings
- Restart, then add your google account using the Account app
This worked for me!
Otherwise, you can also try this way:
- From Youtube App log into your google account
- Go to settings -> accounts and enable sync on the google account
Hope this can help

[Q] HTC Desire HD Gmail Unable to Remove

Hi Every 1,
I have my company gmail registered to my phone
Now I no longer in my old company so I wanted to delete the gmail account
But it does not allow me to remove the account & the error message that I received is:-
"
This ccount is required by some applications> You can only reove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults( which deletes all of your personal data). You do that in Settings, under SD & phone storage.
"
I tried to check and HTC Market is the 1 that keep on asking me to relog my company gmail but this email has already deactivated by company
I could not delete the account yet unable to relog the company gmail
Any 1 can help to share some idea besides master reset the whole cell phone?
Thanks
So my first guess would be... that company gmail your trying to get rid of is also the same gmail that your phone is setup with, if this is infact the case, maybe try adding another google account first, and swaping everything in the phone to the account i.e. market, and google sync, and then try deleting, if that doesn't work, simply add another google account, set up everything on that account, and under accounts and sync, uncheck all of the sync options for the old google account, try deleting it again then, or just leave it there to rot and do nothing
Hi,
Noted your advice
But I could not find a way to switch my company gmail to my personal gmail in market.
This may be 1 of the limitation that Android faced
Just backup everything and do a factory reset. Bwahahahah *evil laugh*
Oopps, I went a little overboard there, sorry.
But that's the easiest way to do it.

Click to collapse
after a new account is added, market, menu, accounts, should get a popup, window that allows you to select which account to use. Now you are going to lose anything that you previously had purchased on the other google account, maybe a way to contact google and have them transfer purchases or something.
Thanks all,
But I believe the best method that drpsyko said is correct. Master reset it.
To xx_bluedev_xx,
I had tried many ways but still unable to have any pop outs says for me to switch email
You cant remove the email account used to set up device. Only way is factory reset.

stock messaging app in Sense 3 provides backup option , you can backup your contacts by going to people>Menu>Export
alternatively you can use MyBackup Pro, its v good when it comes to resetting your device
