i tried searching but i have no idea what i could possibly be. i have a 8525 att branded with farias wm 6.1 ROM loaded along with the touchflo cube(just loaded today). anyways i was using wifi and recieved a call at the same time which usually seems insignificant but now the phone is doing nothing. no charging light no sounds no nothing. i thought it might be the screens flex cable at first but mabye a fried processer. ill admit i have some knowlege but not nearly enough i tried a hard reset but nothing...any help would be greatly appreciated.
hmm
Weird thing, but look at this post...
so basically attempt a reflash? mabye im just not thinking correctly but dont you need some form of life to perform one. i get no start up screens. so i cant get into the bootloader...or can i flash possibly without that. im on vacation at the moment so i wont get a chance to try anything computer based untill probably next week...thank you and thanks in advance for anything else.

Definitely not the man to ask that, so will hope someone else can see what I am not seeing
one thing i've been curious about and haven't seen a thing on in any of the numerous impression/review articles i've read is a note on the the speed of the handset's boot up time.
i've got a droid now, and i absolutely hate how long it takes to transition from powered-off to operational. i go off and do something else, and it takes long enough where i've forgotten about it by the time it turns fully on.
so how long is the EVO's?
Probably because almost everybody leaves their phone on...and don't care how long it takes really...
1 minute or 5 minutes really don't bother most people including me, so thats why it isn't really said in reviews.
I think I saw somewhere where they said it was kind of long. I assume because of the startup animations. I don't know anything about rooting but from what i've gathered you might be able to disable some of those.

ok?
...and your point posting in this thread was? i don't care how many people leave their phone on, or the time frame that a phone needs to turn on in so not to bother people; i was asking how long the EVO takes to boot up. so thanks a lot.
In answer to your question... fast! Most boots seem to take about 20 to 30 seconds for me but one boot did take a minute. Regardless, it's faster than any Sense phone I have ever seen. throw AOSP on here and it should boot even faster.
awesome - appreciate the answer.
and yeah, i could imagine it powering up a bit faster with some tuning from xda.
I seen one IO user say his boot time on the Evo was less than a minute but I assume it also is a bare, non-custom, no extra apps device.
Boot time is definitely less than a minute, I'm using the HelixLauncher2 so everything comes up real fast after boot.
It's night and day compared to my old Hero.
I was just going to ask about this...
From fully OFF to the second I can see my lock screen(note, not fully operational yet, but can see the lockscreen), takes 1 minute and 20 seconds. Thats running Fresh 3.3 with whatever kernel comes with that Rom. A kid I go to school with, he has the same rom and kernel, his boots up to fully operational in about 45 seconds.
Just wondering if I can shorten that somehow.
Also, wondering if music and pictures have anything to do with it? Having to load all of that from the sd card might cause the delay?

Very very thankyou ppls for your hard work... i really appreciate the hard work of the devs.. but can some1 tell me that when the battery metter is fixing.....i only bought this to use android on it but due to unstable battery indcator i m not able to properly get the fun of android on this device.....seriously i have no intrest to use winmo..i liked the keyboard and read that its android compatiable so i bought it .... i know some ppls will say that go buy something else ..... all i need is battery fix and i think many of the ppls here will agree with me....well i for me i m w8ing more 15 days to see if the proper battery fix appears then i will continue it else i will go for Motorola Milestone...i m not saying that these ppls are not working .. all i m saying that all we need is a battery fix with Wifi
w8ing for the ppls opinions
Thanks
honestly man, whats the point of this post? The devs know whats working and what isn't and I'm sure they're working on fixing and improving things. The fact that you can even boot up and run Android on a Windows Mobile phone shows the dedication and work they've put into this so far, its just a matter of work and time until everything is working, have faith and wait it out
dont be surprised if u start gettin some negative responses.
first off, the battery fix wrks great and is very accurate. there must b something u not doing right. i even posted my initial battery readings in the thread with this new build. actually the battery fix is almost dead accurate. i got 8+ hrs. outta of it yesterday. with overclock, with constant use. so nonoverclocked build will probaly bring even longer use.
second, wifi wrks perfectly.
third, why would u buy a device just to run a project build then if u wanted everything wrking? i understand the keyboard thing but unless u got ur device on a good ass deal, kind of silly to buy it just to run something not even fully completed yet. come on now.
Fourth, b4 u bought ur device, did u thoroughly read everything going on with this build or u just jumped in head first?
this is why so many people getting flamed cuz they dont do the research or homework. then come on here posting about why this or that isnt wrking. or what ASSUMPTIONS they have.
dont take this post the wrong way cuz this will probaly be one of the nicer posts towards u. lmfao juss way too many people jumping in and complaining when they wouldve already known the known issues with the build. which in ur case is incorrect. there has to be something u did wrong.
these are questions to ask self why batter fix and wifi not wrking for u.
Am i using the latest builds? Did i thoroughly follow instructions on installing it? Did i install the build with the battery fix in it? Did I break my battery fix by updating the zImage and modules?(which will break the battery fix). if thats not the case, then, Did i update the latest roofts and inirtd files? Did i even troubleshoot the problems b4 posting saying they dont wrk? lol
im not trying to sound like a dckhead..lmfao but im sure the developers would say the same thing basically.
they might have to implement what they doing on the other threads now. if u dont have a certain number of posts, then dont download and try out builds with doing the research first. a moderator stepped in and said that. cuz way too many people complaining about stuff thats already known or complaining about stuff that wrks but they didnt do it correctly.
food for thought, try the latest build. then DO NOT UPDATE THE ZIMAGE AND MODULES AFTERWARDS. only update the roofts and inirtd files.
if u need help getting it running right, let me know. ill be more thn happy to help or assist u, seriously. srry to sound cranky, just woke up n stressed about other things in life..lol
good luck

3rd..well i got 2 options 1 was TP2 and 2nd was Motorola milestone ... well i dont like to milestone keyboard but i forgot that it was way slimmer then tp2 / also compatiable with new builds by defualt...well i was tp2 in local market then came to xda and saw the thread about android and just go for it.. as seeing the progress i thought that it will be fixed soon...now i cant tolarate windows-mo anymore just want to go to the android again asap...so i started this thread...

Would you all kindly stop being illiterate? English words are made of letters not numbers.
On topic, jamb, you could have dropped the silly threats (Imma buy another phone) and just asked the question.
Considering this phone wasn't intended to even run android..... and you bought it without clearly reading through and seeing what was working and what wasn't... yeah I can see peoples frustrations with your question.
Your best bet, as I'm sure you know, if you wanted a perfectly working andoid phone was to buy one that was designed for it OR at least play with someones touch pro 2 who has android running on it so you would know what to expect.
It's called development for a reason, its still on going and there is still a LOT of work to be done and no one knows time frames on this. It's like asking when we're going to mars (all be it that might be a very dramatic example)
Regarding the battery. As was discussed... there is a fix and if it isn't working for you then you aren't doing something right. It's accurate and thats all anyone can hope for. As far as becoming warm. Well it probably has something to do with what you are using on your phone. Internet, GPS, etc etc... all at once. overclocking it is a big culprit for the warmness of phones. The more you tax the phone the more it will become warm.
It wont 'ruin' your batter by using the phone... Just be patient and understand that these fixes could come out tomorrow or could never come! Just what it is.

Your title isn't so much directed at andoid as it is the people who spend hours and hours and hours developing a working version for our phone. So, yes it can be taken as being insulting, with that people are going to see this post and think "who is this guy?"

My battery meter seems to be working just dandy. I did a test yesterday and it was dead on. When in Android I looked at the battery meter and it was about 3/4 full. I opened spare parts and it was at 64%. I then rebooted the phone into WM (6.5, energy ROM) and opened tbattery and it was at 64%
I chared my phone to 100% yester afternoon around 5pm and after heavy use; 5 minutes twitter updates, constant facebook, automaticl gmail check, and non-stop text, I'm still sitting around 50%.
The work they are doing is awesome.

Any battery meter needs to have several complete charge/recharge cycles to be completely accurate (charge phone to 100%, drain until it powers off by itself, repeat at least 3 times). So I would think Android on the TP2 is no different.
Anyway, if the OP got the message that the TP2 is "Andriod compatible", that that was the wrong impression, or at least an overstatement. This is an ongoing project. Given, one where some great folks are putting in tons of work and doing a wonderful job (and much appreciated). But its not perfect, and not the same as a phone which natively runs Android. If that was the OPs intent, then big mistake and he should have done more research before buying.
And its always been posted that the battery meter has issues. I don't know how he could puurchase a TP2 for android and didn't even read the 1st post of the thread.

Anyone tried buying those larger batteries off ebay? I saw one that's lager but isn't larger in size where you'd need a new back case.
How much difference is 1800mAh compared to 1500mAh anyway? Another hour of life?

2nd well i got 2 options motorola milestone(totally android ) or htc tp2 .. i was not into motorola devices so readed about tp2 is compatible ..well in my country only 5 or 6% ppls use other brand otherwise the remaining ppls use nokia or samsung so i wasnt able to use tp2 before the only option i got was to use it personally .....
i know that many many works need to be done...
well i readed about the fix but it is working without wifi and as i said earlier , i know its sound mean but all i need is battery fix with wifi...well as for battery warming without internet , no gps , no overclocking , no nothing just used with its original files it was just lying on my table and when i put it into my pocket i can feel that the battery is warming up so i have to restart the fone to switch back to winmo...

Anyone else feel that it takes a long time to flash roms and anything through recovery in general? I just came from the epic and although I like how much more support there is I feel that it takes a long time to flash. It's not a deal breaker but I'd like to see what other peoples thoughts are.

A long time?
Seems to take the same amount of time (if not shorter) than it does on my brother and mom's Epic.
I do not think it really takes that long. My only reference is the retired Hero. The Evo might take a bit longer (not sure) but the ROM is larger.
My phone averages 3-5 minutes from flash to first boot. I'm not complaining one bit.

A few minutes here and there isn't a great deal of time.. Now if you plan on flashing Synergy w/ Godmode, well that's a whole other story. For the most part 3-5 minutes reboot included.

I noticed that there would sometimes (50% chance) that there will be a noticeable 1 second delay when pushing the power button and when the display actually turns on. It's annoying because sometimes i'll want to check the time, and i'll push the button as i'm taking it out of my pocket only to be met with a black display still.
i tried turning off the pattern lock thinkng that was it but still having the same problem.
i'm completely stock.
No delay here...when I press the power button, my display comes on instantly.

Still thread ****ting on every topic about the delay?
Its obvious why the delay doesn't bother you; you already have too much time on your hands.
Otherwise, it's an obvious flaw in the phone. Why don't you let other people worry about their own lives and how many seconds are wasted.

thanks for the link, i'll check it out.
yes its terrible anyone have a fix to this yet
If it's because of the SD card, trying increasing the SD Card Read Ahead Buffer. It can be built into the kernel or changed with a few market apps, or even a script. It'll also make photos/videos/anything from the SD card load faster.

Isn't this forum built for people who want to get the most of their devices? If everyone just decided things were 'good enough' you wouldn't have devs here writing custom kernels and ROMs. If the issue doesn't bother you then don't bother posting in the thread. And if you absolutely must, don't be a douche about it.
OT: I noticed it too. This is my first smartphone, but it stood out. I assumed it was normal. It's not huge, but I definitely wouldn't mind a fix that didn't require abandoning my SD card.

Agreed, especially since it's a 32GB card and it's transferable between phones...

It's not a HUGE issue, but it is something that should be fixed.
In fact, just to move things forward, I tried increasing the SD Read Ahead Buffer with an app "SD Card Booster" or some name like that, which doesn't decrease the speed of the screen coming on, but does drastically cause photos and other things to load faster when you, say, open the Gallery. That was expected though. We used to increase it on the OG Evo.
Ive owned a few smartphones noticed ET lag after 3rd wake up.
First thing I thought of was Sprint Blackberry curve 8330-M.
It did the same thing drove me crazy lol
I tell you what...take your phone back to Sprint and tell them you have a 2 second lag and see what they say...maybe you can get a new phone...its obviously a defect...
