I've tried searching. Found nothing.
I remember on windows 6.1, when I used to have a 3G or HSDPA connection, clicking on their respective icons would bring up a disconnect button (Which I'm not too worried about) and a timer, showing how long the connection had been active. The timer is what I'm looking for.
Anyone here know of a way to re-enable it via the registry, or any good freeware software which would do the trick?
Really? 110 views and not a single suggestion?
Do you mean like this? (1st Image)
If so then you can enable it via touchflo settings (See 2nd and 3rd images)
Providing you have touchflo settings in there, I'll look in the registry to see what value its changing, if it does change one
I'm running a custom ROM of my own creation. I have removed TouchFlo (As I use a combination of various today screens instead) and only have the "Vibrate the device when tapping the tabs........" option available
Try this:
With a regeditor navigate to
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2
and change its value to 16 (Decimal).. Soft reset
It's already set to 16 Although a point of note may be that I'm using windows 6.5.23529, it doesn't immedietly go to the network popup, I go through a seperate menu popup.
Scratch that. Went back to my kitchen, made a few tweaks and then reflashed my newly cooked rom. Found that there -wasn't- a registry key this time, so I made one, reset the phone and it works! Fab Thanks matey!

Hi,
I see that currently leaked WM6 versions have problem with word suggestion checkbox in Start / Settings. You have to uncheck word suggestion on every soft reset. WM6 forget this setting.
This little fix should cure this
Install:
Copy wsuggfix.cab to Universal and uncheck word suggestion.
Try soft reset. Windows should remember your setting.
How does it work?
-------------------
The fix consists of two files:
wsgfix.dll
sippoll.exe
wsgfix.dll is a service dll. After installing cab wsgfix.dll creates a hidden window, and requests notifications about
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip, SuggWords value changes.
When Suggwords changes wsgfix copy this value to its own registry key.
sippoll.exe is only started on system startup. sippoll reads Suggwords and disables word suggestion if disabled and copy Suggwords back to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip, SuggWords. That's all. sippoll doesn't occupy precious program memory
SuggWords fix...
I have discovered another way to fix this and even chang it to the number of words you want -of course reasonable.
\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CompIME
...change the "SuggWords" DWORD to the value tht reflects number of words suggested. I use 8, quite okay though.
I thought the same about SIP string but it is very stubborn!
Thanks, it's good to know that.
But If I use this method, I have to edit registry after modifying settings in Control Panel. Or I have to completly leave Control Panel's Word completion tab, and only change registry. And Control Panel applet's tab become unused.
I know it's not a big thing, but I don't like this
thank you for this fix. Works great!

Yes, the same here.
The fix worked fine for the first couple of days, after that it suddenly stopped working. When I check the suggesting words box (so enabled!) the suggesting words stops again.
When I then uncheck it again, it stays disabled after a soft reset, but it will start suggesting some time later again.....
I'd sure like to see some sort of true 'final' of Windows Mobile 6.0 for the Universal, only containing three fixes:
1. No more word suggesting trouble - disabling means disabling, enabling means enabling.
2. Windows Live Messenger uses only Wi-Fi when connected to a Wi-Fi network and only uses GPRS/3G when not connected to Wi-Fi network.
3. Ofcourse: full 3G video call support.

Hmm, that's very strange.
I will check and rebuild it soon.
Thanks for the bug report.
Word suggestion
Hi,
Don't know but do you use tools like SK Tools or PocketMechanic?
Sometimes they clean the registry to deep.
Cheers, Leo

hi i'm new here. i have tried your solution with no luck. please help me!
Thanks for the registry keys!! I added them to the wizard wiki, someone else can change it around I guess...
Does anyone know how to stop WM6 from auto-capping the first letter in a new sentence automatically? I just don't want it to do this anymore, and the Settings > Input checkbox isn't helping... so where in the registry is it?
Please no more CAB files, I like to know where in the registry it is for knowledge reasons
Fix with MortScript
There are another solution (simply - maybe stoopid) to fix this Word Suggestion bug - with MortScript.
When you have MortScript installed simply create text file named SuggWords_Off.mscr with this code:
Code:
RegWriteDWord( "HKCU", "ControlPanel\Sip", "SuggWords", "0" )
and put this file into \Windows\StartUp .
Hey!
So I upgraded to WM6 using Schapps' rom. So far so good, but I am really missing my connect / disconnect options from WM5 in the Today icons at the top of the screen. All they give me now is an option to go to the wireless manager.
How do I restore this much needed functionality? For example, when I launch IE or Opera by 3G / GPRS and then close the browser, I stay connected (with a little timer in the bubble). How come this no longer auto-disconnects? Also there is no option to force a disconnection from within the bubble.
Use shadowmite's tweak tool, this is a reg hack.
http://shadowmite.com/wiki/index.php/HTCustom
Hi, thanks for that, but I've got Schapps' Advanced Configuration tool in his ROM, which appears to closely resemble this. But there is nothing about the wifi balloon, nor is there anything about making 3G / GPRS auto-disconnecting. The "3G and GPRS disconnect and timer" option doesn't seem to work.
Edit: I don't really understand; why are reg hacks even needed to restore functionality that was in the previous version of WM? It seems like things are going backwards!!!

Those functions were unlocked using the exact same reg hack by carriers. They are disabled by default on all ROMs afaik.
Hi, I'll give the tweak tool a go once I get home. However I certainly did not have a countdown timer for 3G / GPRS when I had WM5. Is there no way to have an auto-disconnnect?
Also the tweak tool doesn't mention anything about the wifi balloon?
I know it's bad form to reply to one's own post, but just to crystallise this:
Why has my Wifi and 3G "Connnect / Disconnect" options in the icons at the top of the today screen (on the title bar), been replaced with a link saying, "wireless manager"?
And how do I get them back?
Okay looks like I may have found a solution. Please tell me the below is possible in WM6?

Hi,
maybe this should help you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299075&highlight=bubble+fix
- but, I don´t know exactly why - for me it´s not working on Schaps c version - but could be only a problem of the german release.
Let me know if it works for you...
I changed back to Elf´s rom - this is the on that satisfies me most until now, btw. the bubblefix works prfectly on that one.
I was reading this guy's page (http://hackaddict.blogspot.com/2007/06/tutorial-iphone-windows-mobile-skin.html)
when I came across him mentioning that via a registry setting you can keep your phone's time correct automatically via cell phone tower info.
"Open PHM Registry Editor
Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Phone Setting
Change the "ShowTimeZone" value from 0 to 1
Now navigate to Settings\Phone\Time Zones tab. Check the "Automatic change time zone and clock." box. Your phone will now automatically set the time for you."
Is this true, and if so how exactly do I do this, because I don't get the check box on my P3300 that he's talking about.
Any clues?
Chech it again...

I read the same blog, It works on my imate pocket pc (Himalaya wm6.1) Once you do the registry change, soft reset your phone, then Go to phone settings. You will now get a new tab "Time Zones" You may probably need to scrol to right to see this tab.

I have found that this works accross europe but not in the uk. (T-mobile anyway) when i go to europe the time zone is updated but on arrival back in uk i have to reset it manually
PS I also have a vodafone sim so i will try it this week and post findings
Thanks, I've tried to set this but don't get the extra tab. The setting is definitely changed correctly in the registry, but when I go to the phone settings (WM6.1) the only tabs I see are:
1)Phone
2)Security
3)Services
4)Network
5)PIN
6)More
I don't see a time zone tab, even if I scroll full right. Are you sure it's in the start\settings\phone area?

Works on mine.
I install the Registor editor - change the value, check the box in the "Time Zone" and did a soft-reset and automatically the phone adjust the time!
not working on my artemis
Not working on my artemis
Not working on O2 Orbit. No adjust time automatically setting. Installed TimeSync instead.
I don't think so...at least it does't work on my cell phone.
I'm using a custom ROM, and I've tried a bunch of different settings and CAB files. But for some reason, under Phone settings, I never see the Internet tab (there are some others missing too).
I've seen some other people saying they had the same problem, but I never found an answer.
I'm using BuildOS, and have tried different version of the SYS files, tried including the VoIP package from BuildOS, also some different WM6(.1) VoIP CABs I have found in different places.
If I had some sort of error message, atleast I'd have something to Google. But there seems to be no error, except for the extra tabs in the Phone settings not showing up (also the Internet Calling plugin is listed in Today settings, but it doesn't show up on the main screen).
Finally figured out enough stuff so I could poke around some more.
The only setting I had to change after installing one of the VoIP cabs I had was one flag in one registry setting.
According to MSDN the default setting for "Features" under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone for a CDMA phone is 2B820, and that GSM cab you had was setting 206C7D8.
After combining the flags, and take away flags one by one, it seems the only flag that really matters is SHDFL_PHONE_LOCKFACILITY. (Doesn't really make sense to me, but it worked. I was expecting one of the other flags.)
That makes the setting 2B828 (instead 2B820)

Edit/Delete Message
Have TP2 and after update to "genuine" 6.5 decided to go back to
Win6.1 and downloaded "genuine" rom from HTC UK website. Installed OK
BUT seems to have kept a load of data I do NOT want. Simple things
like calibration, owner name etc. BUT more important, I have lost the
twin volume control (system + Rings) of the original.
I am a programmer and used to changing registry etc. but not too familiar
with the various roms, even after reading loads of posts!
What I am looking for is a way to COMPLETELY clear everything and really restore to a blank 'phone.
HTC inform that a clear install should ask for calibration etc. but this does
not happen!
Rom -HTC Touch Pro2-RUU_Rhodium_HTC_Europe_1.19.401.1_Radio_Rhodium_3.44.25.27_Signed_Ship.exe
Many thanks in advance
John,
UK
Have you tried a hard reset ?
thanks, yes - done
hard reset x 3
clear storage x 2
reflashed to 6.5
reflashed back to 6.1
seems to keep the registry intact but so far compared over 300 keys different, some self explanatory and still looking.
found a good guy at HTC in UK and seems that swapping from 6.1 to 6.5 and back with the HTC roms ONLY rewrites certain data, but retains all the settings!
HTC will take back with a little nudging and fully reflash tp 6.1 - but - I feel this is a waste of carriage etc. and most important, need to know HOW!!!
many thanks
JR, UK
you have a strange situtation here dude...
i have no clue how can a hard reset not erase your owners name or registry, this is practically impossible, but i'm thinking that as soon as you connect to the network it retreives and updates all of your previous info...try removing the SIM card when you hard reset
I can help you with the Volume control, there is a setting for that under the settings tab in TF3D there is an option for "sound" then youhave to scroll down to were it says "Volume Control" and you can turn it off or on as you like.
Cheers,
but seems an issue that the 6.5 UPGRADE ROM from HTC imports all the old settings - simple things like call timers stay the same (hence obvious no registry clean) and seems using their ROM to go back to 6.1 is not advised, as does the same thing. Will try deleting the registry from within 6.1 or corrupting it enough so stops working then we'll see what happens.
ONLY wish there was a Windows tools that allowed me to delete system files on the 'phone, then would be easy! Can't find one though!
Plus NO tabs to allow a separate volume control slider for "system" and another for "rings" as was on original 6.1 ROM
