I'm using a custom ROM, and I've tried a bunch of different settings and CAB files. But for some reason, under Phone settings, I never see the Internet tab (there are some others missing too).
I've seen some other people saying they had the same problem, but I never found an answer.
I'm using BuildOS, and have tried different version of the SYS files, tried including the VoIP package from BuildOS, also some different WM6(.1) VoIP CABs I have found in different places.
If I had some sort of error message, atleast I'd have something to Google. But there seems to be no error, except for the extra tabs in the Phone settings not showing up (also the Internet Calling plugin is listed in Today settings, but it doesn't show up on the main screen).
Finally figured out enough stuff so I could poke around some more.
The only setting I had to change after installing one of the VoIP cabs I had was one flag in one registry setting.
According to MSDN the default setting for "Features" under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone for a CDMA phone is 2B820, and that GSM cab you had was setting 206C7D8.
After combining the flags, and take away flags one by one, it seems the only flag that really matters is SHDFL_PHONE_LOCKFACILITY. (Doesn't really make sense to me, but it worked. I was expecting one of the other flags.)
That makes the setting 2B828 (instead 2B820)

Ok, 1st of all I don't wanna cause any tension by the fact that I'm running a ROM cooked by someone some of u seem to have a major problem with. I'm running Black 3.5 with wpbear's WAP settings and CUSTEL's Proxy Manager. The WAP settings give me 2 connection options -> "My ISP" which is un-removable and has no option for a proxy, and "MEdia Net" which includes the cingular proxy settings. Now, WiFi 3rd party software works fine on "My ISP", however, executing "Restore Proxy" to try and use AT&T's sites renders the connection useless. On the same note, the cingular stuff works on MEdia Net, but "Disable Proxy" does not seem to disable the proxy and, hence, does nothing to help WiFi / 3rd party apps. Are there any REG settings i can try to fk with? I've tried hard resets... nothin helps...
Difficult to say for sure given the info you've provided, however my best guess is that you're mixing apples and oranges with your Connection settings and Proxy Manager.
When you say "CUSTEL's Proxy Manager", I assume you mean the cab I supplied that adds the PM back? That cab must be paired with the proper Connection stuff in order for it to work properly, and I can only assure it will work on CUSTEL 2.5 (and probably mine, too, although installing it on mine would be redundant).
When it comes to Cingular, there's lots of REG settings to "fk" with, no question.
Hrmmm... Well aren't the connection settings the same, considering they came from wpbear's cab, or does the OS override it in some way? I can't wait for someone on here to come out with a new dominant ROM so I can get the support I need and hopefully be able to contribute (which by the way I would love to, except I can't seem to figure out how to cook beyond the OS.nb dumping phase) without all this BS beef that reminds me of high school... thanks for the quick response, vp3g!
Hi all , I'm looking for WM6.1or 6.5 pro with VOIP/ sip client enable. Can someone please point me in the right direction to find this ROM or how to make my own ROM using another phone ROM that already have the features I’m looking for.

Almost NONE of the Excalibur ROMS have VoIP cooked in. In order to use a SIP, you need VoIP actually cooked in. It cannot be installed. If you want a custom cooked ROM with VoIP, let me know and we can figure something out...

Sure if you don't mind helping me that would be great. I'm just looking to use VOIP on my excalibur using the Wifi and data package. It would be nice to learn how to cook a ROM with that feature. I'm shocked no one has done one yet.
SIP on dash Works NOW!
I have Dash with with Ricky's 6.1 Rose 1.2.
After searching forum for other phones I've found one CAB file that adds SIP functionality to the Dash. Apparently SIP stack is part of WM 6.1 and later. This thing just enables that. It integrates so nicely it even adds icon next to the antenna signal. Sounds nice and clear with very minor latency (comparing to other portable SIP devices). It appeared to support STUN, but I ran it only on local home net. Donkow if STUN actually works right.
I did tried it with other ROMs on DASH and it allays worked.
It's not perfect though: Main problem is audio out settings: as with other applications output newer to the internal headphone but to the speaker or external one. I've found no way to overcome that. Another quirk is creation of dial plan - not straight forward. You also have to create account settings file externally and upload it each time. (not biggie as it done only once). There are application to do it on the phone, but I wasn ot able to run it successfully on Dash.
I disable all dial plan options and pass everything through, letting my Asterisk do the job. I also disable all power management and leaving WiFi on all the time. Surprisingly there is no major hit on battery life, it last whole day or two with SIP and WiFi on all the time.
I'm expecting that someday somebody will polish this option and include it as standard in every ROM. As a fact for me to be happy with SIP, only output must be fixed, everything else is tolerable. It will make DASH nice little SIP phone.

Thanks for the info Sipcipro. Can you please post your intallation steps as well as the CAB file and or the CAB file link that adds SIP functionality to the Dash.
FYI
I successfully installed WM6VoIP.CAB which enables the Internet tab under the phone settings. However installing a sip config tool like, destr0_VOIP_WM61___SIP_Config.CAB , SipConfigTool_2_0_1.CAB or Setup_VoIP_v0.3.cab it appears that these sip config tools require WM professional
The file you have is the same one I have.
As I said before, configuration tools do not work for me, but it is possible to edit account config file offline, pack it and upload to the phone. Guide is here:

Good luck!
Let us know if you manage to resolve speaker redirection. This problem common for other applications like Skype and Fring. There got to be solution to that.
Cheers!
Ookba let me know when you would like to start working on cooking a Excalibur ROM with VoIP or if you found a cooked Excalibur ROM that have that feature alreadyand works good.
Hello.
I'm starting this new thread because I can't find anything similar in other threads.
I've got a brand new htc tp2, bought it a few days ago with official Windows Mobile 6.1 Italian ROM.
Then I updated to the new official Windows Mobile 6.5 Italian ROM from HTC.com and all seems to be OK, except for something strange I guess maybe really a bug of the operating system.
Every time I boot-up or resume from standby, I must reactivate wifi connection manually. The strange is, communication manager says wifi is on, while the wifi activation checkbox in settings page says it's not, and it's really not.
* HTC support sayd it's a system-specific functionality *
Don't joke please, it's really annoying to activate wifi manually every time I bring my phone in the hand, and I wonder why somebody in the development team may want to do something "original" like this.
I've got also a WM5 P3600 and WM6.1 Diamond, and none of them has this kind of issue. And the same was my TP2 befor upgrading to the new ROM.
Now I'd like to know if somebody has seen anything similar and I will appreciate any kind of suggestion.
In 6.5
I agree. Really annoying. Just upgraded to WM6.5 and it has the 'feature' that WiFi has to be started everytime the PPC powers up. Why? Is there a fix?
I think the idea behind this "feature" is that, when Wifi is on according to HTC but off in Windows, the HTC code will automatically turn on Wifi in Windows as soon as a program tries to access the internet. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any way to turn this behavior off. It causes problems in Opera because even after the Wifi is automatically turned on, Opera doesn't notice the new connection and remains stuck trying to load the page. I then have to press Stop and Go or Refresh to get it to use the newly established Wifi connection.
Well guys, I've read some more threads in this forum talking about similar problems (but not the same) and analysed some instructions about modifying registry data.
The idea behind the feature was correct, that is WiFi will remain like sleeping after startup or resume but will effectively activate on-demand when any application will require it to activate.
Now, surfing the registry I've probably found what I was searching for: looking at the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} I read a default value of 4, which means "OFF", and I modified the value to 0, which is "FULL POWER".
Now my WiFi seems to be fully functional.
Hope this will be useful for you all.

I had did that mod and then also did the KeepWiFiOnWhenUnattended mod as well and wifi havent went off yet
Unfortunately didnt work for WWE TP2
Unfortunately this hack didn't work for me. (Official stock WWE WM6.5 ROM).
I applied the Power Fix as outlined above on its own - no joy.
Then additionally did the KeepWiFiOnWhenUnattended key - no joy.
Also changed the other keys in the power group:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\*\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
to zero as per a Topaz thread that I found.
Still no joy.
This is a very annoying feature of WM6.5 and something that I hope someone can fix soon!
(BTW: On WM6.1 the KeepWiFiOnWhenUnattended Hack used to work on its own. Now KeepWiFiOnWhenUnattended gets reset to 0 on every re-boot or resume from suspend.)
It's just how the Rhodium software from HTC handles the WiFi. If you use a cooked ROM, like mine for example with different software from LEO device the WiFi works as it did in previous devices.
i guess we lost one great hack to 6.5.. its the simple things people never pay attention to and dont try and fix it
Hello
check this out
I hope this will help you too
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=575256
I've been reading myself silly trying to figure this out & my attempts at Searching haven't helped, probably because I'm not fluent enough to use the correct terms. In spite of having this device for several months, I've never learned as much as I'd like. Anyway . . .
I finally flashed the newest stock ROM from HTC several days ago. The process seemed to go fine with one exception: I keep getting a notification that I have a new Voicemail when I don't. I check -- no new Voicemail. I Dismiss, but the the notification keeps coming back periodically. Suggestions?
Other than that, things seemed to go smoothly, and I started slowly getting things back the way I like them. After reading & making sure I understood (or so I thought), I installed the .NET 3.5 Framework so I could use Crud Scraper to get rid of the stuff I clearly remembered using it for.
The .NET part went fine, and then I did the soft reset . . . and lost My Location on the Today screen that shows my weather. It now says I'm in Seattle, which I'm not -- I'm over a mountain range & about 350 miles east of Seattle. When I try to change the location, it doesn't find my town or anything in my area, for that matter..
The mysteriously (to me) reappearing Voicemail Notification is bad enough, but I really rely on the weather, particularly this time of year, and it's driving me crazy that I can't figure this out. Suggestions?
TIA
Did you try looking at the several threads on this ROM in the Rom Development forum? There's a fix in one of them for this problem.
For which problem? And, do you have any idea what thread?
And, yes, I did look in the thread I found (New ATT Tilt2 ROM) -- I believe I read every post before I flashed the latest ROM, even though much of it was over my head. That's where I learned that I had to install .NET 3.5 & reboot before CrudScraper would work.
I recall several people mentioning that the My Location worked flawlessly & how great it was having the location, and I read where one or two people seemed to be having the same weather problem I'm having, but I didn't see an answer. I read in one of the forums that there seems to be a bug (although not confined to the latest ROM) in certain parts of the world, and I read a thread where there seemed to by a problem with My Location in a cooked ROM that might or might not have been related to GPS not working. I read something else where My Location wouldn't work with 3G, only with Wi-Fi, so I tried that, even though My Location was working just fine after I flashed to the latest ROM -- that didn't help.
So, it's not like I'm asking because I hadn't already tried to find solutions myself. I'm not doubting that there are answers to both of my issues but rather that after spending several hours over the weekend trying to find the solutions, I've been miserably unsuccessful. Otherwise, I wouldn't have asked.

For the My Location feature, only part of the service is understood. For the most part, the location is determined by the cell towers your device connects to. It depends on where you are as well as the signal strength. Sometimes the request is not sent or received to/from the tower(s). It is more accurate usually when 3G is turned off. The alternative is to add your city manually. If the location servers can't figure out where you are, then it won't work.
Normally the stock ROMs fix this and work wonderfully after flashing. The best solution to this is to turn off 3G to get a fix or find your city manually.

I'm feeling really stupid here, but being a glutton for punishment, I'll keep trying.
Is it possible that maybe there was something wrong with the towers here that just happened to coincide with the soft reboot after installing .NET? The reason I ask is that My Location is now correct. Yay! That would be just my luck: bad timing.
Any suggestions about the incorrect Voice Mail notification? It for sure comes back each time I power up the phone. It seems to me it also reappears at other times, but I'm not positive about that -- I'm going to try to pay better attention.

Make sure to install .NET CF 3.5 to the device and not the storage card. You'll then need to restart, if it doesn't ask you to do so. You then need to force it to use 3.5 over 2.0. Use a registry editor and navigate to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/.NETCompactFramework. Change the DWORD data of entry 2.0.7045.00 from 1 to 0. Then change the DWORD data of entry 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1 and then reset. This disables 2.0 and enables 3.5.
For a decent registry editor that can be used from the PC side, check out CERegEditor if you don't already have an editor of choice.
For the voicemail problem, there are two known solutions. You can either have someone call and leave you a voicemail. You would then check it and delete it. You can also simply call your provider and have them reset your voicemail account. Either one should work.
If neither of those options works for/appeals to you, you can give this a shot. There are no guarantees that it won't come back after a soft reset, though. Using a Registry editor, navigate to the following keys:
HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\Line1\Unread
HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\Line2\Unread
HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\Total\Unread
There should be a value name "Count" with a REG_DWORD value
Change value to 0 in decimal or 00 in Hex.
It should remove voicemail notification icon from the taskbar.

Many thanks! For the Voicemail, I used method one, and it worked
And, thanks for the instructions (and the reg edit program suggestion) to force use of .NET CF 3.5 because I missed that part -- yikes.
I'm on a dedicated mission to cut down on the elecronics I have to carry around, so I need to learn more about the features of the Tilt2 because if I can just figure things out (which I've not forced myself to do), the Tilt2 will, I think, be able to replace my PDA & iPhone.
Anyway, thanks again for your help!
I've tried searching. Found nothing.
I remember on windows 6.1, when I used to have a 3G or HSDPA connection, clicking on their respective icons would bring up a disconnect button (Which I'm not too worried about) and a timer, showing how long the connection had been active. The timer is what I'm looking for.
Anyone here know of a way to re-enable it via the registry, or any good freeware software which would do the trick?
Really? 110 views and not a single suggestion?
Do you mean like this? (1st Image)
If so then you can enable it via touchflo settings (See 2nd and 3rd images)
Providing you have touchflo settings in there, I'll look in the registry to see what value its changing, if it does change one
I'm running a custom ROM of my own creation. I have removed TouchFlo (As I use a combination of various today screens instead) and only have the "Vibrate the device when tapping the tabs........" option available
Try this:
With a regeditor navigate to
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2
and change its value to 16 (Decimal).. Soft reset
It's already set to 16 Although a point of note may be that I'm using windows 6.5.23529, it doesn't immedietly go to the network popup, I go through a seperate menu popup.
Scratch that. Went back to my kitchen, made a few tweaks and then reflashed my newly cooked rom. Found that there -wasn't- a registry key this time, so I made one, reset the phone and it works! Fab Thanks matey!
