Proxy Manager not working in Black 3.5 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Ok, 1st of all I don't wanna cause any tension by the fact that I'm running a ROM cooked by someone some of u seem to have a major problem with. I'm running Black 3.5 with wpbear's WAP settings and CUSTEL's Proxy Manager. The WAP settings give me 2 connection options -> "My ISP" which is un-removable and has no option for a proxy, and "MEdia Net" which includes the cingular proxy settings. Now, WiFi 3rd party software works fine on "My ISP", however, executing "Restore Proxy" to try and use AT&T's sites renders the connection useless. On the same note, the cingular stuff works on MEdia Net, but "Disable Proxy" does not seem to disable the proxy and, hence, does nothing to help WiFi / 3rd party apps. Are there any REG settings i can try to fk with? I've tried hard resets... nothin helps...

Difficult to say for sure given the info you've provided, however my best guess is that you're mixing apples and oranges with your Connection settings and Proxy Manager.
When you say "CUSTEL's Proxy Manager", I assume you mean the cab I supplied that adds the PM back? That cab must be paired with the proper Connection stuff in order for it to work properly, and I can only assure it will work on CUSTEL 2.5 (and probably mine, too, although installing it on mine would be redundant).
When it comes to Cingular, there's lots of REG settings to "fk" with, no question.

Hrmmm... Well aren't the connection settings the same, considering they came from wpbear's cab, or does the OS override it in some way? I can't wait for someone on here to come out with a new dominant ROM so I can get the support I need and hopefully be able to contribute (which by the way I would love to, except I can't seem to figure out how to cook beyond the OS.nb dumping phase) without all this BS beef that reminds me of high school... thanks for the quick response, vp3g!

3G and wifi balloons missing options

Hey!
So I upgraded to WM6 using Schapps' rom. So far so good, but I am really missing my connect / disconnect options from WM5 in the Today icons at the top of the screen. All they give me now is an option to go to the wireless manager.
How do I restore this much needed functionality? For example, when I launch IE or Opera by 3G / GPRS and then close the browser, I stay connected (with a little timer in the bubble). How come this no longer auto-disconnects? Also there is no option to force a disconnection from within the bubble.
Use shadowmite's tweak tool, this is a reg hack.
http://shadowmite.com/wiki/index.php/HTCustom
Hi, thanks for that, but I've got Schapps' Advanced Configuration tool in his ROM, which appears to closely resemble this. But there is nothing about the wifi balloon, nor is there anything about making 3G / GPRS auto-disconnecting. The "3G and GPRS disconnect and timer" option doesn't seem to work.
Edit: I don't really understand; why are reg hacks even needed to restore functionality that was in the previous version of WM? It seems like things are going backwards!!!

Those functions were unlocked using the exact same reg hack by carriers. They are disabled by default on all ROMs afaik.
Hi, I'll give the tweak tool a go once I get home. However I certainly did not have a countdown timer for 3G / GPRS when I had WM5. Is there no way to have an auto-disconnnect?
Also the tweak tool doesn't mention anything about the wifi balloon?
I know it's bad form to reply to one's own post, but just to crystallise this:
Why has my Wifi and 3G "Connnect / Disconnect" options in the icons at the top of the today screen (on the title bar), been replaced with a link saying, "wireless manager"?
And how do I get them back?
Okay looks like I may have found a solution. Please tell me the below is possible in WM6?

Hi,
maybe this should help you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299075&highlight=bubble+fix
- but, I don´t know exactly why - for me it´s not working on Schaps c version - but could be only a problem of the german release.
Let me know if it works for you...
I changed back to Elf´s rom - this is the on that satisfies me most until now, btw. the bubblefix works prfectly on that one.

WM6.1 and TomTom Nav 6

I have just added TNT's 6.1 rom but when I install TomTom 6, I can't get Plus services working.
Checked the username/password/device ID, reset the device on tt.com but it seems to bomb out with network error and not get off the hermes
I have the 6.0.030 version of TT
Any suggestions?
I'm having the same problem. Anyone have any ideas, could it be something on the SD card for the TomTom that needs to be changed or removed?
check to make sure your connections are configured properly. I was having issues with Pay's 6.1 ROM and I found that the 'ISP' connection wasn't working. I had to change the server in the ISP connection settings.

All my other data stuff works so I don't think that's it.

This is acting more like there is a method of connection being used by TT that is no longer there with 6.1
As above, everything else about data (email, IE etc) all work fine
I am running Dr. Faria Clean 6.1 and I just added Nav 6 today (still waiting for my BT GPS). I was able to download some new voices via Plus today without any issues. I also downloaded a new color scheme. I am on the AT&T network. I hope this helps.
Hmm, interesting. I ran Pay's 6.1 and ran into the same problem. I also ran Dr. Fari's full ROM and had the same thing as well. I'll see if I have time today to download and load the Dr. Faria Clean and see what happens.
Did you try to start IE and surf to a page to make sure data connection was working before starting tomtom?
I know some software doesn't seem to be able initiate data connection and will only work if it is already available.

That's not it. Everything else works fine. I was actually streaming internet radio stations when I tried to do it so it's not it.
One more clue.....
Looks like there is some values not being set correctly for connections on AT&T
In the case of the TNT 6.1 rom, it would seem that some apps were defaulting to "The Internet" not Media Net for the connection and not working.
So it would seem that TT might be defaulting to a value that some ROMs are not setting correctly
If someone could tell me where to check my settings I would be more than willing to post them. I would be curious if you could get it to work with faria's clean ROM though. It seems to work great for me.

tt and I did some more testing and ran the CINGULAR WAP cab that I keep for instances such as these. It fixed the problems with some of the applications that weren't connecting to the data network (MobiTV, XMRadio), but Slingplayer and TomTom both had troubles. The funny thing was that when it went to connect it kept trying to connect via the ISP even when MediaNET was selected for both options. Something is definitely not set correctly on TNT 6.1 so I'm pretty convinced that it's a TNT problem and not a 6.1 problem. I've posted the Cingular WAP settings cab for ease of use.
Problem solved......
The problem turns out to be that the Connection Config added an AT&T proxy server.
Delete the proxy server and it all starts working ok
I had MediaNet and 'My ISP' I simply changed the 'My ISP' server to match the one from MediaNet. Everything works. XM, MobiTv, TT6, Google, MS Live, Youtube, etc..

WM6.1 + VoIP (missing settings)

I'm using a custom ROM, and I've tried a bunch of different settings and CAB files. But for some reason, under Phone settings, I never see the Internet tab (there are some others missing too).
I've seen some other people saying they had the same problem, but I never found an answer.
I'm using BuildOS, and have tried different version of the SYS files, tried including the VoIP package from BuildOS, also some different WM6(.1) VoIP CABs I have found in different places.
If I had some sort of error message, atleast I'd have something to Google. But there seems to be no error, except for the extra tabs in the Phone settings not showing up (also the Internet Calling plugin is listed in Today settings, but it doesn't show up on the main screen).
Finally figured out enough stuff so I could poke around some more.
The only setting I had to change after installing one of the VoIP cabs I had was one flag in one registry setting.
According to MSDN the default setting for "Features" under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone for a CDMA phone is 2B820, and that GSM cab you had was setting 206C7D8.
After combining the flags, and take away flags one by one, it seems the only flag that really matters is SHDFL_PHONE_LOCKFACILITY. (Doesn't really make sense to me, but it worked. I was expecting one of the other flags.)
That makes the setting 2B828 (instead 2B820)

T-Mobile UK data

Got my shiny new Touch Pro 2, the number has ported back from my PAYG Orange SIM today, it's all great.
But.
The auto-configured data connection doesn't seem to work.
It connects, but once connected, I can't browse any websites and can't synchronise my email. No errors, just nothing happens.
It's working fine through WiFi.
I've tried unticking the Proxy Server settings and I've tried removing them, then unticking. Still no luck.
I've tried setting up a manual connection with the following settings:
general.t-mobile.uk
user
wap
(also, t-mobile and password)
Am I missing something incredibly obvious?
Thanks
Does the following help:
http://www.manuals.t-mobile.co.uk/m...1&ref=featured&manualid=2497&subjectid=614849
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: user
password: one2one
HTH - Rufus.
Alas, no. It still connects, and it still does nothing, including throw an error. :/
Have you tried getting the settings resent to your phone using the T-mobile web site?
Yep. I stuck in my mobile number and they recognised my device as a T-Mobile Vario V (!), but the only options it gives me are MMS and email (which asks all sorts of irrelevant questions like who my provider is).
I asked for the MMS settings, got a text with a PIN in, but no settings came through.
I've tried following the guide for the Vario III (which is pretty much how I'd been doing it anyway), but I always end up with something which connects but never does anything.
I'll try a hard reset tonight if nothing else works, but if anyone else has any ideas, I'll try 'em out first!
Hmm, I'm sure you've tried it, but Settings->Connections "Connection Setup" looks like some kind of wizard. I've not tried running it, don't remember having it on my TyTN II.
Also membered seeing this post recently:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388740
Good luck!
Well 2 hard resets later, and the data connects more-or-less properly (never seen the T-Mobile "content lock" before, that's for m.twitter.com, even though I've already synched my contacts with Facebook :/).
The email seems fairly random as to whether it'll work or just say "Cannot connect with current connection settings" - instantly. It's not even trying.
All works fine on wireless still. Very frustrating. Never had anything like this on the Vario III.
EDIT: Could be all Proxy Server related. I've unticked that again, and all seems well. Will see how it goes.
EDIT EDIT: Despite the content lock supposedly being off, I still can't get to http://m.twitter.com. I may have to ask in a shop tomorrow, and they'll blame the unsupported device *sigh*
It has to be the proxy server thingy. I had the same problems and I just went into edit settings and unticked the proxy server check box and that sorted it for me. I am curious to know why this has to be done though cos on my Kaiser it works without unticking the proxy sever.
I always set my Kaiser connection up manually, so didn't have that problem
This morning, the Twitter problem seems to have cleared too.
Also, TomTom is working, with full postcodes and sound, so I think I may actually have my perfect device for the moment

Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5 Professional ROM With SIP Enable

Hi all , I'm looking for WM6.1or 6.5 pro with VOIP/ sip client enable. Can someone please point me in the right direction to find this ROM or how to make my own ROM using another phone ROM that already have the features I’m looking for.

Almost NONE of the Excalibur ROMS have VoIP cooked in. In order to use a SIP, you need VoIP actually cooked in. It cannot be installed. If you want a custom cooked ROM with VoIP, let me know and we can figure something out...

Sure if you don't mind helping me that would be great. I'm just looking to use VOIP on my excalibur using the Wifi and data package. It would be nice to learn how to cook a ROM with that feature. I'm shocked no one has done one yet.
SIP on dash Works NOW!
I have Dash with with Ricky's 6.1 Rose 1.2.
After searching forum for other phones I've found one CAB file that adds SIP functionality to the Dash. Apparently SIP stack is part of WM 6.1 and later. This thing just enables that. It integrates so nicely it even adds icon next to the antenna signal. Sounds nice and clear with very minor latency (comparing to other portable SIP devices). It appeared to support STUN, but I ran it only on local home net. Donkow if STUN actually works right.
I did tried it with other ROMs on DASH and it allays worked.
It's not perfect though: Main problem is audio out settings: as with other applications output newer to the internal headphone but to the speaker or external one. I've found no way to overcome that. Another quirk is creation of dial plan - not straight forward. You also have to create account settings file externally and upload it each time. (not biggie as it done only once). There are application to do it on the phone, but I wasn ot able to run it successfully on Dash.
I disable all dial plan options and pass everything through, letting my Asterisk do the job. I also disable all power management and leaving WiFi on all the time. Surprisingly there is no major hit on battery life, it last whole day or two with SIP and WiFi on all the time.
I'm expecting that someday somebody will polish this option and include it as standard in every ROM. As a fact for me to be happy with SIP, only output must be fixed, everything else is tolerable. It will make DASH nice little SIP phone.

Thanks for the info Sipcipro. Can you please post your intallation steps as well as the CAB file and or the CAB file link that adds SIP functionality to the Dash.
FYI
I successfully installed WM6VoIP.CAB which enables the Internet tab under the phone settings. However installing a sip config tool like, destr0_VOIP_WM61___SIP_Config.CAB , SipConfigTool_2_0_1.CAB or Setup_VoIP_v0.3.cab it appears that these sip config tools require WM professional
The file you have is the same one I have.
As I said before, configuration tools do not work for me, but it is possible to edit account config file offline, pack it and upload to the phone. Guide is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299950
Good luck!
Let us know if you manage to resolve speaker redirection. This problem common for other applications like Skype and Fring. There got to be solution to that.
Cheers!
Ookba let me know when you would like to start working on cooking a Excalibur ROM with VoIP or if you found a cooked Excalibur ROM that have that feature alreadyand works good.
