so i was in the middle of a phone call while laying in bed. suddenly the call was dropped. i called back and got not answer(which i feel was unrelated to this) but when i tried to hang up to call again the proximity sensor was being fickle and would fade out before i could hit the end button. finally, i sat up and it began to work normal again.
has this happened to anyone? i'm sure it isn't a big deal, but i would like to know if this is common. I had the mytouch slide and i did this all the time with no promlems.
i'm currently running cm 6.1.1
Aw yah i had mytouch slide too the prox sensor is a spaz u have to like not be 1 ft infront of it mines does the same sometimes and drop call is probibly cuz they got att and if u find the prox annoying its on the top of the screen

Was that in english? :O
I noticed this about signal too, and after a little searching it appears that g2 suffers from death grip signal issues..solution is really simple , try to hold the phone on your ear with your fingers, instead of the whole palm..its really easy..
As a side note, i would suggest (for health benefits) that you use a bluetooth ear accessory..I am really enjoying mine and you can find them for very low cost, everywhere

When I had the myTouch 3G Slide, I experienced similar issues with my proximity sensor. It seems that if you are within one foot of the proximity sensor, it will trigger and turn the screen off. I'm assuming they you dropped the call because they have AT&T as a carrier and obviously every call made to an AT&T phone drops. So you know, if you need the location of the proximity sensor, it is near the top left corner of the phone.
Yeah. I put that much effort into it.
Punctuation is such a useful thing.
For example "I helped my uncle Jack, off a horse."
Now read the previous quoted sentence without a comma.
Sorry to be off topic and such but I'm sure there's a way to config the proximity sensor if they're being a pain in the ass... maybe someone can develop a screen lock while in calls that re-opens the phone when the user slides it?

I like to put my T-Mobile Dash in the back pocket sometimes. I missed several calls the other day. I suspect when the calls came in, as I was sitting on the phone, the "reject" button not only caused the ring to stop, but also sent the call to the voice mail right away. Is there anyway to mask out, or simply remove the "reject" function?
thanks!
Not that I know of. Don't put in your back pocket. Many people have crack there screen doing this.

I thought cracked screens come from dropping and hitting the phone on the cement
Slight pressure on a wrong spot on the screen can kill pixels and/or crack the screen.

wanna know whats funny? i just got back from lunch and as i type this...im sitting on my phone. hahah
Yep.. Same problem here.. Mines always in my back pocket. Screen facing my butt. Phone rings and it will reject.
ok soo i dropped my Tilt 2 from a standing point (which is about 5 and a half feet since im 5'9) with the phones keyboard open and screens tilted, whats funny is that no battery fell out or anything, it just shuts off, i had to turn it back on.
when i shaked the phone i heard a slight rattle and i reckon its from the Flex Cable from the LCD screen, the rattle stops when i have my Tilt 2s keyboard open, but when i tilt the screen i can hear it slightly...is that normal?
also what is going to aggravate me for the rest of the time im going to own this phone is that when im using the phone's software keyboard on portrait at say like a 15 degree angle i can hear taps which is quite annoying but if i hold it at a 45 degree angle it stops, i turned the phone to the side i notice a gap, not a big one and not really noticeable but id say its roughly .5mm thick, i push the screen down and the gap gets smaller, is normal as well?
plz let me know thnx a lot
short answer.... no.... not normal. You knocked something loose inside hence the rattle, WHICH you probably already knew The gap, also not normal. Well wait.. I should correct myself. This is all probably totally normal for people who have dropped their phone. You're lucky you didn't crack your screen or do more damage and the phone's still usable!

hmm, well i talked to one Tilt 2 owner and he said he has that rattle and he hasnt dropped it? but like i mentioned, the rattle must be coming from that Flex cable that goes between the motherboard and the LCD screen....
No rattle and no gap on mine, but I've only had it 5 days. Give me time.
I have rattle too, but i think its the G-Sensor !

i did a couple of searches on PPC and some say its a normal thing especially in the tilted position? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=87452 at least im not the only one! i just have OCD xD
heres a video of the screen problem im having
but its not as worse as his but you guys get the point
I just dropped my phone yesterday with keyboard out and tilted and I got a similar problem to this. My screen only has a gap when I pull it up, which I wasn't able to do before, but the screen slide is now about 1 or 2 cm's to the left causing it not to line up with the keyboard slide. Somewhat aggravating, but totally unnoticable unless your holding the phone. I don't get any rattle though...

well if i were to dismantle the phone and repair the little bridge that goes across the back of the LCD screen would that solve the issue? because it seems when i push on it it seems to fill a gap but idk if thats what causing the whole screen and kb issue but im going to do it when i have the chance
I have a tilt and mines exacly like the one in the video with the vary small gap and the screen wobble, I always assumed it was normal, mine dosent rattle though
that little gap and the screen wobble.
it just because is got movable parts, look at the screen hinges if i can call them that.
its the reason i didnt want to get mine, ive always chose candy bar phones so i dont worry about that.
but i did get me a tilt 2 and have dropped it too, i also think my wobbly screen started after i dropped it, but ive had it a year, since it first came out. the only thing i hate reall bad about this phone it the lack of a headphone jack I HATE THAT WITH A PASSION.
As many knows there is a very annoying problem when you have your DHD in your jack pocket and answering when someone calls you.
Most often, like 9 times of 10, you accidentally reject the call when pullinng your phone out of your jacket pocket.
Is there any solution to this? surely HTC must be aware of this problem?
Is the only solution to install a ROM without sense?
I'm sorry, as annoying as it may be, and I mean no offence but this is purely user error.

There is a solution! You obviously put your phone upside down in your pocket and when you pull it out, you reject the call. Just put your phone the proper way and you'll be answering the call instead of rejecting it (happens to me all the time especially while driving) .
Now the serious answer is unfortunately "no". You either have to put it in your pocket with the screen facing outwards, or you can use a pouch. BTW stock one is great.

But yes, I listen to music a lot so my phone is in my pocket upside down but I always make sure the screen is facing in then to remove you can slide your hand down the back of the phone (oo er) and grab the sides.

It's not a user error and i didn't ask for your opinion, it's improperly designed software by HTC that have not done extensive testing in how a user handles their phones.
My phone sits in my pocket same as MR_JMM'S never rejected a call getting it out.
Btw if you dont want peoples opinions best not post on xda
Ok, where to start.
1). Have you tried a different jacket pocket?
2). Have you tried a different jacket?
3). How about your trousers/pants? Same results?
4). Have you tried wearing gloves, and answering the call with your nose? Example
Any combination of the above could solve your issue.

True, someone says user fault who runs Cyanogenmod, LOL
He can just slide like iPhone, maybe he never tried Sense?
how about widget locker. The sliding motion is sideway so it may help. Paid apps though.
I think you misunderstand what's happening when you unwillingly answer a call. You slide the dialer with your leg, not with your hand. That's why putting the phone screen outwards would help with that, but it could be bad for it if you bump into something or fall.

Ah ah, that kinda makes more sense, but I never experienced that even before I ran CM because my gel case stops the screen coming in contact with my trouser leg, still can't believe that IF this is a real issue it's not been raised on XDA before now.

Dude...you got it right but the problem is that i have it in my jacket and it doesn't matter if i put it straight down or upside down, the calls get rejected anyway.
It is a major problem and it has been raised to HTC in my country as the DHD screen is very large this problem is more common with DHD than the smaller screens from HTC.
People running CM7 Rom doesn't have this problem as they answer the calls the "iphone" slide to the side...
I've tried Widgetlocker but it doesn't help at all.
Problem is, why have a Sense slide for rejecting calls in the first place? slide it up and the call gets rejected, remove it and the problem is solved.
This is an issue for me too. I have the phone in my pocket with the screen facing my body, and it is my body that activates the slide-to-reject as the phone leaves my pocket. I have to be very careful when retrieving the phone when a call comes in.
Don't like cases, so please don't suggest that.
It is a HTC design flaw - they should have implemented as slide left/right like on the Touch HD.

Yes exactly, cases are so 80's when we had to carry a brick Problem is that Widgetlocker doesn't work for call-ins....it defaults back to sense.
Anyway, people who use original slider(no sense rom) doesn't seem to have this problem as the slider is different like iPhone, god i hate iPhone but that's another story
I bought HTC because of sense, otherwise i could have bought a Samsung.
Is there anyway to disable the optical trackpad? as it is always activating on its own
What do you mean "activating on its own"? You mean the phone wakes up when you press the trackpad? Or when you merely touch it? There should be a flashable patch for your ROM that disables trackpad-wake. Search the thread for Virtuous G-Lite.

He means that it activates and selects things on screen on its own. It happens when strong light beams across it. The trackpad activates as if you've moved your finger over the surface because it is sensitive to the light.
Oh, really? I never heard of that! Now I'll have to try it myself.

Try sitting in the passenger seat of the car with the sun somewhere over your shoulder. Flickering sunlight does weird things to the trackpad.
Oh that is just cool. I have an LED flashlight on my key chain that is insane bright and I just shown it on my trackpad and it starting jumping around my home screens.

lol I could get over having trouble seeing it in direct sunlight I just bought a anti glare screen protector but this makes me want to throw my phone out the car window sometimes
What if you cut that anti-glare screen protector to fit over the optical trackpad. Maybe that'll diffuse enough light to stop the sensor from going wack but still sensitive enough for you to still use it with your thumb?
I can't get the effect to happen. The most that happens is the active icon selection on my home screen moves over one icon. No crazy jumping around on mine. Anyone want to trade me for their "defective" phone?

got the same issue. especially when in the car. the most annoying bit is when i have my sat nav on, and the trackpad plays up, the screen starts moving off course! not helpful when aproaching a roundabout!
have had my desire z for 8 months now, and tried to live with it, but its just too anoying now. so thinking of returning it, but if its a common issue, wondering if they would be able to fix it?
anyone returned theirs to have repaired? did it work?
I don't think it is repairable it is just the trackpad is to sensitive if only there was a way to disable it via software:/
well there are those who say that they dont have the problem, so i guess theoretically, its a fault with many of them. unless they havent used their z in the sun!
i think i'll take it back, as it obviously shouldnt do that. if they cant repair it, or replace it with one that doesnt freak out, i'm gonna change to something else..
Hi all,
Ever since i started using CM7 on my DHD the LED being used for notifications changed from the right one (next to the speaker mesh wire) to the left one (underneath the speaker mesh wire) (i didn't even know there was one before that time )
Since i'm working as a carpenter my phone (and especially this mesh wire) gets all clogged up with dust pretty much all the time which makes it very hard to see the notification LED underneath it. Is there any way to change it back to it's original LED on the right of the speaker?? I'd prefer a change in command lines in stead of using an app.
Using Cyanogenmod 7.2 now (which works perfect i must say, but can't wait on ICS!)
Any help is much appreciated
PS. Anyone know why it changed from right to left? My guess is because the LED's on a 4G are positioned differently.
Euhh... Anyone??
You are right. I didn't even remember there was a led on the right. If I don't get back to you by sunday it means I haven't found an answer. You got me curious about this as well.

correct, it is NOT an led, it is a sensor. it is how it tells if your face is next to the phone or not. start a phone call to your voice mail or whatever, and cover and let off of that spot with your finger, it will activate and deactivate the screen.
Ahh yes of course! Thanks guys!! It's just when i was using the original rom with Sense i could have sworn the LED was on the right. Hihi Silly me.
Thanks again! Yet another mystery solved!
