[Q] how to remove the battery cover ? - Desire General

Hello all.
I received my desire HD yesterday, the manual says to remove the battery cover to take out the plastic sheet that prevents the battery from charging...
However I cannot remove the battery cover, I have tried REALLY HARD to put a fingernail in the slot and lever it out but there is no way it comes out on the desire hd.
Is there a magical thing to do or has someone at the factory in chine made a joke and superglued the damn thing ?
The sim/sd cover is sliding out but apprently the battery cover is just lifting or does it also slide out ?
thanks for the help

This is the normal Desire section. Try either the Desire HD section or find a unboxing/startup video were they remove the battery cover.

[Q] Sim cover - poor fit?

Anyone got a problem with the fit of the sim cover?
I didn't notice any gapping when I took the phone out of the box but after fitting sim card, when I replace the sim cover there is a distinct gap....very small, much less than 1mm.
I've had the cover on an off half a dozen times but can't get it to fit back snugly
hi eric,
lucky me, i've taken the cover off and on a few times, and everything is as it was... but a friend of mine has your problem too, i told him this place and he will post soon!
regards,
markus
Hi!
I've the same problem.
The gap of the SIM cover is about 0.5mm.
As far as I remember it didn't exist when I unpacked the phone.
EDIT:
even without SIM and microSD the gap exists...
Here's a pic:
Same problem here.
We are not the only one. I have noticed a lot of complains on different review sites about this problem.
MAIL/CALL HTC FOR THIS PROBLEM !!
We have sensor issus that not solved for many people and now this pff HTC WY !!!
My cover had a gap after I took it off for the first time but I managed to get it back on with no gap

The first time I put mine back on earlier today it looked exactly like that, just try it again a few times until it slots into the right position.
@combat:
how did you manage it?
@MrGarak:
I've tried it several times (20+) without success

How can you tell us or can you make a video ?
Mine is like that not happy at all

as well as sliding on from either side i put a tiny amount of pressure on the middle to keep it down so the plastic guides were in line
My sim cover sticks out on the right side (looking from top to bottom). Any way we can buy a new one?

Mine is the same after the initial fit of the SD card, I will have another go at it .

Not only a poor fit and a gap! but the quaity of it is just pathetic!
It crumbled and kinked between my fingers the first time I tried to remove it.
Why on earth bother to make a perfect alloy housing and chassis and then stick a flimsy piece of plastic on the thing! It should be made from alloy too!
Not happy customer here

Didn't work for me. I've tried perhaps 2 dozen times, always get the gap .
It is clicking into place though so at least its secure
The gap between the screen and the case is also slightly wider at the top than the bottom. Maybe the bottom cover is fitting perfectly and its the rest of the case that's slightly off?!?!
You guys probably have phones from some early production batch since mine fits perfectly, no problems what so ever.
First of all you cant make the cover from alluminum - the antenna woun't work. Second - my phone had a nasty gap when I bought it, but when I installed my SIM I took great care in closing the cover. The gap isn't there any more. You have to position the cover correctly in fully open position, then press LIGHTLY on the cover where the two locking teeth are ang GENTLY slide it in position. It worked for me. And remember that you have to be very gentle with it, because it can break easyly and AFAIK there are no replacements for now...

Sim Card Too Big?
Just got mine today and I had the same issue, think mine was because my sim card (a t-mobile one I've had for, dunno, at least 4 or 5 years now?) was slightly too long. I noticed the little ridges on the inside of the cover were leaving small dents in the sim card where I'd been shoving, so I used a nail file to remove a tiny amount from the blank end of the card and it seems to shut a lot better now.
Going to to try to fix the gap on the battery cover next...
Don't get me wrong, love the phone, but it has got to be one of the worst unboxing experiences ever, forcing you to fiddle with these two ****ty little plastic covers before you can use your expensive new toy. I seriously thought I'd broken my battery cover trying to get it off before I've even got to unwrapped the battery!
Just watched the various videos on you tube at the launch yep the gap is there .. seems normal I've put a gel cover over mine so not overly concerned

Squeaking bezel and battery cover might be features???

I noticed that pressing bezel at certain points and battery cover makes a click sound, then I came across a solution for battery cover by one of users here: putting a business card between battery and cover, it works and makes it completely silent.
So I think this space between battery cover and battery and those points on bezel might be noisy/bad implemented solutions to avoid cracks on bezels which are wide spread among Galaxy S2s and S3s (they appear out of nowhere and seem to be due thermal expansion & contraction)... Does anyone agree? Any ideas?

The upper bezel squeacks because of the motion setting.
If you enable and double tap the upper bezel in emails/contact the list will scroll to the top.
You can try just by pressing and not tapping, it still works
Aint working here... only double tap works.
Any other ideas? What about battery cover?
I also have this problem with squeaking battery cover. I have idea that it showed up because of leaving phone in pocket while I tie a shoe and the battery cover gets pressed too hard. Few days back I also noticed that I have very small crack in battery cover that I can feel with nail. Very annoying sound and not impressed with quality Soon I will get cover case for note but if the sound will be there, I will need a replacement battery cover...
Samsung's Plastic At It's Finest.
I dont think it has anything to do with pressure... I have never put it under any slight pressure and the squeaking was there as long as I remember...
Any new ideas about this issue? I also get some squealing noise when I press batter cover. Tried putting some duct tape, but it is not working, sometimes it even gets worse.
All suggestions are welcome
Yes
What models do you all have because I have not had this problem at all and I have the front cover.

I noticed this because I constantly remove my battery to do a swap and charge it externally. There was another post about this recently that I posted in. I resolved the problem by replacing my bezel/frame. I had some small scratches and a ding on it from my desk so I felt compelled to make it look new. I noticed the small plastic tabs that the battery door connects to are fragile and break off from constant removal of the door.
The bezel was around $20 with a new battery door with NFC, not to mention only taking 15 minutes.

I put a small strip of duct tape on each side of the battery and then when I put the battery back in its spot the fit was quite tight but all my squeaks were gone. The device feels much more solid now.

Thx, I'll try
This is completely normal for the Note 2. After a while the plastic pieces are no longer aligned precisely due to heat, pressure, cheap quality just like korean cars.

[Q] Have I damaged my battery/is it safe to use?

Hi,
I took my UK Vodafone HTC One X apart to replace the screen. As I was told may be the case the battery was very firmly stuck to the case behind the screen. As advised I heated it to try and melt the glue and managed to pry the battery off but it bent a bit while doing this (so it was curved rather than flat) as while it was hot the battery itself was quite soft and bendy (I only used a hair dryer so it wasn't too hot to touch or anything like that, just quite warm). I kind of moulded it back flat so now it's cold it looks fine but I just wanted to ask everyone if they think it's still safe to use? At the moment the phone is still in bits and I am thinking maybe I should just buy a new battery to be on the safe side as I don't want it turning into a firebomb in my pocket/bedroom
Anyway any help/advice is gratefully received.
Thanks,
R
I say : put in a hox+ battery !
That does sound like a good plan although I can't seem to find any on eBay or Amazon in the UK (well except one that was about £25)
Definitely get another battery. A standard HOX battery is easy enough to get on eBay, and you can find a HOX+ battery if you search for a while.

Zenfone 2 Battery removal

My Zenfone 2 screen broke so I ordered a new one from aliexpress and I'am ready to replace it the only thing I worry about is the proper way to remove the battery.
I gave it a go last night with a playing card and with a litle bit of heat Ive managed to remove the part that hasnt have any tape.
I failed to remove the rest of the battery as the playing card was too fat to pass between the adheassive and the battery so I reasssembed the phone back
The tape also can be easily removed from the pull tab on the top (as you see on this video ) so I wont have to worry about acidentally puncture it.
So with a litle bit of research I managed to find this replacement.
Do you think it will work?
take a piece of DMD insulation sheet ( used in electric motor winding)
how heat battery cover plate with hair dryer (not too much). now insert the piece of sheet between covering and battery. it will be easily removed.

Rubber protection under the battery?

I bought a used and broken SM-T805 and removed the battery to test with another battery. But when i removed the battery I could see that the "rubber protection with holes in it" under the battery was missing. I haven´t see this part missing before. Is it important that this rubber protection is placed under the battery?
Well that was too easy. They should have used double sided super tape like they normally do
It's to keep the battery from rattling around... help make the display more solid. God forbid if it had a hollow sound when tapped. Use a similar spacer.
Thanks for your reply blackhawk.
Maybe this tablett was fitted with a new screen and they didn´t fit a new "super tape" on it?
What kind of double sided super tape kan I use insted of the original one?

I wouldn't go too nuts as next battery replacement it will need removing
If it wasn't taped down on the original ones I would simple use a similar sized spacer.
Was the OEM part thermally conductive?
If so try to get a replacement.
I'm not sure. It might be meant to help insulate the battery from the display heat... in which case you want that air gap. Li's are degraded faster by elevated temperatures.
Interesting find.
