My Zenfone 2 screen broke so I ordered a new one from aliexpress and I'am ready to replace it the only thing I worry about is the proper way to remove the battery.
I gave it a go last night with a playing card and with a litle bit of heat Ive managed to remove the part that hasnt have any tape.
I failed to remove the rest of the battery as the playing card was too fat to pass between the adheassive and the battery so I reasssembed the phone back
The tape also can be easily removed from the pull tab on the top (as you see on this video ) so I wont have to worry about acidentally puncture it.
So with a litle bit of research I managed to find this replacement.
Do you think it will work?
take a piece of DMD insulation sheet ( used in electric motor winding)
how heat battery cover plate with hair dryer (not too much). now insert the piece of sheet between covering and battery. it will be easily removed.

I ordered a screen replacement on AliExpress. I've only cracked the glass on my phone, but I don't think it's possible to replace the glass on its own. (Unless you have the hands of a neurosurgeon and special equipment.)
Tried changing screen today, but it requires a complete disassemble of the unit. I managed to remove the back and disconnect the components, however I wasn't able to remove the battery since it seems to be glued (?) in place on one side. I even tried using quite a bit of force, but eventually I chickened out since the battery started bending. I have no idea how they do it so easily in the video. If anyone here has managed this disassemble I'd be very interested in getting some details.

Try using a hair dryer on the battery for a minute, but keep moving the hair dryer up and down, to spread the heat all over, this should make the glue soft enough to make it easier to peel the battery off.
Finally managed to replace the screen. This one was really difficult to repair compared to the previous phones I've worked on, but maybe in part because there are no complete instructions out there yet. Lots of glue and tape holding it all together.
The battery isn't really glued, but rather held down by some sticky plastic. (Kinda like chewing gum.) I don't think heating will help here. I used a long, flat plastic object to reach underneath and loosen it from the battery.
I forgot to take pictures, but here are the steps I took. You can find some photos for the first half of the procedure.
Remove 14 screws from the back cover
Carefully remove back plastic cover (double sided tape on center)
Unplug the three connectors going to the top PCB/SoC (these are screen, SIM/SD and battery)
Remove speaker (black piece at the bottom, nothing is holding it in place)
Remove bottom PCB: flip up the little black switch to loosen the connector cable next to the battery, then unplug the wire going to the top PCB, then you can remove it. Vibrator piece doesn't need to be unplugged.
Battery can now be removed, but is as mentioned fastened very well. Try to pull it up on the left side to reach under it.
Unplug digitizer connector on the left side of the top PCB. Just peel off the yellow take and pull it out.
Peel loose the part of the metallic shielding that fastened the top PCB to the surface under where the battery was.
Top PCB can now be removed, start from right side.
Peel off the little "sticker" the digitizer connector goes to. This is probably part of what you're replacing, so it doesn't matter if you destroy it in the process. Otherwise try heating it.
Screen can finally be removed. It's removed from the front of the phone, same as for Zenfone 5. Start at the bottom. It's fastened with glue along all sides. If you're hoping not to ruin the LCD while removing the screen you will probably need a heat gun and extreme patience.

Just cracked my phone. :crying:Thanks for the instructions. Before I decide to do this, are any of the adhesives necessary to put the phone back together?
Yes, order some double-tape for cellphones.
Glad I'm not the only one that succeded althought I scrapped the battery in my case .
I followed mostly the same steps but for anyone that want some pictures, I posted them in another thread

Can asus ze550ml screen will fit to ze550kl model
@Ptselv: probably best to start a new thread rather than hijack one that is several months old.
And to answer your question: No, a ZE550ML screen will not fit a ZE550KL phone. My suggestion: search AliExpress.com for "ze551kl digitizer" and you'll be likely to find what you need.
Hello guys,
I had an accident where I spilled liquid on top of my phone's screen, it was alcohol based, so it got through the bottom speaker and went to the screen layers. After a couple of days of trying to dry it out, there are still terrible looking streaks that look like water damage. I tried using a hair dryer and a suction tool from my car mount for the phone, to remove the screen, but it won't budge. This method worked easy with my old Nexus 5. Some heat, I pull up and it comes right off. With this - I heated as much as I can, and then pulled with all my strength, but screen will not come loose from the frame.
Has anyone removed the screen on their phone, or does anyone have experience in doing such things, to help me pull this off?
I believe that if I manage to remove the screen, and clean the layers, screen should be back to 100%.
I asked a friend of mine to lend me his heat gun, but I am afraid of applying too much heat and killing the LCD, or doing bad things to the plastic body of the phone.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have you checked out the dismantle video on youtube? I believe you have to go through the back.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+5X+Teardown/51318
NO! I know how ti disassemble the phone... What you are posting doesn't even include the screen separation from the frame.
I have been watching videos a lot, but I myself, after following them, am unable to separate screen from frame. And to be fair there is just 1-2 videos out there that actually show people doing that. In one a dude used heat, a suction tool and a precision knife to lift the screen from the frame. I don't think using a metal tool on a heated plastic, to lift a glass is a good idea, especially when the adhesive is so strong. I guess the screen from that video has already been removed, that is why it looked so doable. I bet if I try that, I will f*ck up my pristine frame (phone is 1,5 months old)
You have to go through the back. See link https://youtu.be/Y8XpqwLsrUo
Same problem here, I cannot manage to separate the screen from the frame. Did you manage to remove it?
I broke that damn glass into pieces from the back holes, allowing me to insert a guitar plectrum and finally remove it all. Fixed
My Zenfone 2 screen broke as you see in the attachment so I ordered a new one and 'am ready to replace it
the only thing I worry about is the proper way to remove the battery.
There's a adhesive tape underneath it that holds it in place but in all tutorials I've search about they dont mention this at all.
There two methods of removing the battery :
1.By using a metal pry tool by gently lifting the battery up BUT the set of tools that came with my display doesn have any
(In case you're wondering here is the display I've bought with the set of tools as an extra gift )

2.By removing the adheasive completely by strecting it from the pull tab
So my question is:
how to remove the battery WITHOUT damage it, how to remove it without the metal pry tool, and if I remove the tape is this gonna damage the battery in the near future?
This is how I removed the battery when I changed my brother's broken LCD:
remove as many components as possible from the phone;
gently heat the front of the phone (i.e. blow heat on the battery from the glass side of the LCD) with a hair dryer;
slip a thin/blade-type pry tool, small flat head screwdriver, or wall scraper under the battery and slowly/gently start lifting the battery away from the housing. Do this a little at a time and re-heat if necessary until the battery lifts away from the housing.
I don't recommend pulling on the tab.
Working fine and when I turned it on this morning flashes amazon logo over and over
Dead battery, go buy a new one from Amazon or Ebay for about $20. There are various guides on how to replace the battery, it's fairly straightforward.
See this post for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72663172&postcount=5
But yes, as just mentioned above you'll need to replace the battery - there's no other solution, it's not a problem with the phone itself, it's the battery specifically as I tried to explain in that post I just provided a link for.
Replacing it isn't seriously difficult overall, just need a very tiny Torx bit (not sure what the number is, I think it's a T2 or T3) for the two screws on the bottom of the phone then a spudger/spacer or even a guitar pick to separate the back cover off the device - don't ever use metal objects like knives or whatever to do that kind of stuff, just asking for trouble.
The hardest thing about replacing the battery is physically removing it from the phone itself because Foxconn (the company that manufactured the Fire Phone for Amazon) chose to use not only a LOT of adhesive under the battery but some really nasty incredibly sticky adhesive as well so it's quite difficult to get it out. Using a hair dryer on medium or something to warm up the battery - but don't make it HOT, just use medium and get it warmed up - can help significantly with the removal as the heat will soften the adhesive.
Take your time and be patient and inside 20-30 minutes it'll be like a new phone once again with good battery life overall.
Has anyone replaced your battery on tab s2 where you source it?
You can find New Samsung ones on ebay for around 10 English pounds.
Easy job to replace too. Takes around 5 to 10 minutes.
Just loosen the back with a sucker then go round edge with Guitar pick.
Couldn't get back off fully from the Camera, but you can easily get out the battery by flexing the back open gently.
Battery stuck down with a few spots of glue but easily popped out with the guitar pick.
Back popped right back in.... Bit of play on the back so not as water resistant as before. No issue if you use in a case for me.
Beats the 30% wear on the battery after just 14 months.
Forgot to mention, I have the 8 inch version SM-713
I looked around ebay and amazon. Those Chinese man probably selling used ones pretending to be new. Is there any reliable source for really new ones? Thx.
hi anyone here?

Try Amazon. I just replaced the battery in my T713
I’ve replaced mine twice and sent back three or four batteries.
As far as I can tell, it next to impossible to get a good battery and original is completely unattainable.
So far I have never found a decent battery.
I've asked the local Samsung support a few months ago, it cost, in usd, ~$50, so I sold the tablet instead
Anybody who has done the replacement have any issue getting the back cover back on? I broke a couple of the clips off and can't find a replacement back. I'm hesitant to glue the back together in case this battery takes a dump. I am using double sided tape that came with a screen replacement kit but it is still pretty easy to peel the back off.

Is this about the 8" version? The 9.7" version needs to have the screen removed, mid-plate unfastened (16 tiny philips screws, including 2 easy to miss ones w flat-black heads).
I've just replaced my battery, the one that was in there was an OEM Samsung but my screen was glued on w black 4mm tape that covered one of the mid-plate screws, so I dunno if this was the original battery.
I replaced mine because I was getting 'storms' of reboots, thought the battery might be the issue (FWIW, still getting the same reboots post-battery-replacement.)
FWIW, I already had a killer suction cup on hand (from a RAM mount setup), these thin pry/cut tools https://www.fixez.com/categories/repair-tools/pry-tools/qianli-stainless-steel-ultrathin-pry-tool made it easy to get the screen off.
I also had an industrial quality heat gun to soften the glue, but that turned out to be unnecessary (you might need one if you start with your tablet cold)
I just changed the Battery on my T813.
It started to do some odd things, like rebooting even though there was plenty of charge or simply discharging to flat from 100% in a few hours without being used.
I got this from amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07KSZCDCB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
it was a breeze to fit, back cover came of really easily after the initial poke around at one of the top corners (camera end)
No screws to undo, no adhesive, once that corner popped up (using the knife seen in pic 1) it was very easy

undo the connector cable, undo the 4 screws, remove
replacement is the reverse, and pop the case back on
Holds charge better, doesn't run out while using and as yet, no random reboots
In 2023 is it possible to buy brand new battery for SM T813?
