Just wondering what's the difference with 1.32 and 1.72 rom.
I'm currently on the stock 1.32 rom and wanted to upgrade but is it worth going through all the hassle?
Is there any improvement in power consumption etc?

Is it actually still available? I thought HTC had pulled the update due to the issues with it?

I didn't know that. What issues did it have?

it might be 1.75 that was pulled, as it was having issues with SD cards (i am sure I read this somewhere), but my understanding is that the biggest change between 1.72/1.75 and 1.32 is the fixing of the root exploit thus making them currently unrootable, the newest radio helps with battery life but that can be flashed seperately (if you have S-OFF) from here
There's a 1.72 WWE rom in the forum, is this any better than the 1.32 ?
You should get your DHD rooted, radio S-off and bump it up to the Revolution HD Rom.
Believe me, it's way better than the 1.32 version; battery life is much much better too.

Yeah I read that everywhere. I have an HTC Desire HD with 1.39 as stock and if I check for an update, it says there's a new version 1.75.
So far I'm gonna wait till HTC ups a new one or just flashing to a custom rom

Title says it all, is it possbile to flash stock ROM from a different region without S-OFF?
Not very familiar with these things, but reading around it seems I need s-off for flashing a ROM from a different region, which is not achieved yet
I'm currently using a Telecom HOX from NZ, and the software version is still 1.26.781.2, seeing other people already having 1.28 or 1.29 OTA updates, and even a newer 2.05.401.2 with Android 4.0.4 is coming out is very frustrating.
I really wish I can flash to a stock from from TW.
Anyone can help me?

No, you need S-OFF, and if you want to keep the phone in warranty by keeping the stuck ROM then your only option is to go with that old version...
But since you brought up the 2.05.401.2 those people are not using stock ROM, that's a test version and comes only as custom rom, if you have unlocked your phone already, then you can use custom ROMs with any version you like...

Really???? that is one of the main reasons I want a newer version, I heard the updates slightly fixes battery life. So far just using wifi for 5mins can drain my phone up to 10%
Everyone has a different opinion on the HBOOT. Can someone please tell me the advantages and disadvantages for updating to the new HBOOT? It seems to me to be a lot of effort to update and minimal (if any) gain.
I have also read that when they finally crack the s-off the solution, it may involve an old HBOOT version.
So if someone could set me straight that would be fantastic.
Thanks.

As far as features goes, hboot doesn't provide any... it's used at boot time only
You can't usually downgrade hboot so if they indeed make s-off available being on the latest and greatest may not be so good!
but all of this you already know... so here's what you wanted
don't update unless the rom NEED a new hboot (It happened sometime from gingerbread to honeycomb...)
Whether it is necessary to have new hboot for arhd 9.0.0
How to update the hboot?
I am from india!!!

You can update hboot only when ota arrives, its not available yet, atleast won't be here for 2 weeks atleast, so just update to arhd 9, hboot won't hamper performance, enjoy the latest software without waiting for ota

First of all, please accept my apologies if this has been in some way answered before. I did a search as far back as early 2011 but could not find a satisfactory response hence my posting here.
I have a PVT1 Desire with HBOOT 0.80.0000, 5.14.05.17 Radio and S-ON. The phone is rooted with Amon-RA recovery and currently happily running JB. All is working well and I am conscious of the fact that should I decide to update the HBOOT and Radio to the latest version, I would have to start from scratch in terms of rooting etc. but as the phone is currently working just fine, I would appreciate people's opinion if there are any real benefits in upgrading.
Many thanks in advance.

I really don't know or understand what you're waiting for. Why not s-off? It's so simple using revolutionary.
If you have a s-off, "rooting" is just flashing superuser from recovery. Not a complicated process at all.

except his hboot is 0.80
revolutionary needs 0.93.001 or 1.02.0001 to work

Just to clarify, I have no issues with upgrading and then rooting from scratch but, as my understanding is, that would involve going back to the official GB rom (to upgrade the HBOOT) and then doing all else, I was just wondering if it worth the hassle i.e. whether upgrading HBOOT and the Radio files brings any tangible benefits.
Many thanks for your responses.

alot of roms these days do recommend the latest radio and the advantage of s-off is that u can change hboots for more space. if u click the all things root guide in my sig i think ul get pretty much all the info u need there.

Many thanks for all the suggestions.
I have now updated to the latest Radio but still not sure about HBOOT and S-OFF. Since I am using JB which requires stock HBOOT, there is little advantage to S-OFF for me? Also, is there a quick way to upgrade just the HBOOT without having to install the offiicial HTC GB rom?
i wouldnt recommend upgrading RADIO ! had so many issues with different roms the last year after upgrading to the latest radio. Now I am back to the latest official radio that was delivered in Europe (5.11.05.27) and having no issues since then with ICS or any other roms.
I have the impression that some issues revolve from the newer 5.17.xx.xx radios being incompatible with some roms.

Why just not to install latest RUU - it automatically flashes new HBOOT and Radio.
About efforts - it's just allows to use modern ROMs.
May be a little improves quality, stability and battery time.
PS I haven't any issues with 5.17.05.27 radio

Is NFC broken in hboot 1.31? im running ARDH 9.7 now, but i experienced the same with ardh 12 and maximus 6.
If you have upgraded the hboot to 1.31 you cant go back. I think its a hboot problem since you cant get it to work with other roms.

yeah thats what im suspecting, considering it has other issues and they keep releasing new versions of JB. I know i cant downgrade, but i just wanted to confirm this. Im not sure people realy tests NFC considering the low usefullness of it. I just noticed it by chance.
Hey everyone.
I'm currently running CM10 nightlies on my HOX. My HBOOT is 0.95, as my HOX hasn't been running Sense for a long while. And the phone isn't carrierlocked.
My question is, though, will there be any advantages to updating with the latest JB RUU? Surely I'll get an updated radio firmware, which hopefully will help my connection issues. But is there a danger in upgrading the HBOOT at this point? Will I still be able to install CM10(.1)?
Thanks in advance

CM is supported on all HBoots so you dont have to worry about upgrading your HBoot version.
Advantages of upgrading HBoot:
* Better firmware and new JB with good radio as u already know
Disadvantages of upgrading HBoot:
* If a S-off exploit is discovered which is on a lower HBoot and is fixed on the newer ones then you wont be able to use that s-off...ofcourse other exploits can be discovered...but its always good to remain on lower HBoots if you are plannin on s-off
:good:

Thanks a lot!
As far as S-OFF goes, I'm not sure I need it. Sadly, unlocking the bootloader allows me to do what I want: install CM. CM and root access is all I need
