The OC kernel doesn't support EXT4 so no.
My man Bauxite is working on the kernel we need right now, it needs to support EXT4 and we are good.
Not to much longer!
I am working on it I am having issues because I'm not at home where my dev machine is. I am installing ubuntu to a usb drive to use with my laptop at the moment
Could you try this kernel? It's default (no OC), but it has ext2/3/4 enabled.

This could be the turn to make this work!
I believe clockwork won't work unless your partitions actually are ext4, not just the kernel. I don't know where to begin on converting them.
it should convert it when it sees rfs. I'll look at it soon.

I doesn't. I'm not sure it knows which devices are what on a sprint tab. If it did convert your partitions, you wouldn't have been able to boot!

If a partition is found to be RFS, but referenced in recovery.fstab as ext4, the system will AUTOMATICALLY convert the filesystem, backing up ALL data on the partition, and restoring it after.
This is what Koush did with the others.

Have you tried to boot into CWM 3.0.0.5? If you haven't yet, then once you do it the first time it will convert you to ext4.

Or can I continue with the stock and preform my backup.

Don't quote me but I believe you have to flash a stock ROM after if you want to stay rooted-stock. EXT4 & RFS are both available. The videos explain this whole process. Give a watch, it may save you time.

If u want to stay stock but rooted with ext4 u need to flash a dual boot kernel that support both ext4 and rfs if not u need a ext4 rom. But if u want rfs u can do the 1 click root with 3.0.25 and be good to go

Ok kennyglass123, you been so much help today, I think im set now! Also thanks to all of you who chipped in to this problem.

Update 9-4
Added link to kernel source at bottom of post.
Got boot, got ext4 converting automatically, got stable. Also got a brick from being to tired and flashing via heimdall by putting something in the wrong input.
No way to test at this actual moment, this project bricked 2 tabs and im am down to last one, which i am using for cm7.
I am trying some extreme and radical stuff here, so bricking was expected. Those GSM owners have to many options, its high time we one-up them.
Power to the CDMA LOL. ha ha ha
No link except to source for right now, dont want anyone to hurt their tab. Ill get back to the kernel as soon as i am done tweaking the kernel for CM7

As much as your hurtin man i would take it easy. V1 and v2 work great already. We can wait. However if your like me you gotta have something to take your mind off stuff. Great work! Very glad to see some verizon love for once. Froyo was getting old fast.

Flashed and went through the process of wiping cache, factory wipe and reset, and rebooted. Got as far as the verizon wireless screen and froze there. No animation ( after the first animation) or anything. Went back to the stock Gingerbread.
Flashed twice. Once just the kernel and then adding the kernel to the stock Gingerbread. No luck either time. I did have the cw recovery though......
Just because I can, I had to give this kernel a try on the Sprint Tab. It booted into CWM once, failed the ext4 conversion so I told it to reboot recovery. That's where it all went wrong, as the stock recovery took over. Back to stock now to do some other stuff, then back the V1 for Sprint.
Hey oldmacnut,

I couldn't figure out to update with Odin... It's weird. It wouldn't start flashing, always failed. Updated with Heimdal (I got the extracted files from .tar files. Wound up slowing my processor down considerably. Flashed it back to VZW firmware. The processor is still slow and it heats up and at times does not respond. Think I might have to send it to Samsung to get it fixed and the modem. Trouble is, what will be a good accuse if I messed up the components inside it with Sprint firmware? Think I might say I left it in the car and it over heated and it wont work right now. Good Idea?

I am not sure if there is an actual release stock firmware for a SCH-I800 model of mine. I think I have random roto backups.... I have flashed it back stock many many times and once the modem files upload, nothing happens. Heimdall doesn't say Flashing Complete.
Guys, I'm finally home after 2 days of Dr appts out of town.
1. I'm drained
2. My right arm is so bad I can't move it
3. I have no internet at home now, and the tab is getting bad coverage.
My arm alone is enoughbto keep me off the computer, web access or not, its bad, it sucks. I'm going to reach out to a few people today, try to get some help with wrapping up what I have going right now.
If my arm keeps deteriorating the way it is, I will not be able to do anything on the computer, let alone hold my tab.

Hi tbolt and charge kernel dev here. I had a couple of hours this weekend and thought i'd dust off my old gtab and build a quick voodoo kernel for ef01.
This is a beta kernel - please back up all data, etc. before flashing
This is not my usual leanKernel since source code for GB kernel is not available yet (is this true? let me know if source is avail). It's basically the stock leak kernel repacked (using supercurio's repack utils) with modified initramfs.
Features
full voodoo lagfix support and auto conversion between rfs and ext4
voodoo sound support (requires voodoo control plus app)
buffers, memory tweaks
init.d support (requires a good working busybox installation)
busybox fix - will install busybox 1.20 if it's missing from ROM (this only works if you flash the kernel zip from recovery)
Code:
# mount | busybox grep ext4
/dev/block/stl9 /system ext4 ro,relatime,barrier=0,data=writeback,noauto_da_alloc 0 0
/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /cache ext4 rw,noatime,barrier=0,data=writeback,noauto_da_alloc 0 0
/dev/block/stl10 /dbdata ext4 rw,noatime,barrier=0,nodelalloc,data=ordered,noauto_da_alloc 0 0
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /data ext4 rw,noatime,barrier=1,data=ordered,noauto_da_alloc 0 0
# busybox uname -a
Linux localhost 2.6.35.7 #2 PREEMPT Thu Jun 9 16:35:31 KST 2011 armv7l GNU/Linux
Changelog
v0.1.5 - initial test release
v0.2.0 - CWM flashable zip, busybox fix
EF01 Downloads
heimdall kernel: http://cl.ly/AGUw
flashable kernel zip (via cwm): http://cl.ly/AFpj
working recovery from CM7 (heimdall): http://cl.ly/AGBB
Installation
if you already have a working CWM recovery, just flash the zip file.
if not, you can either 1) heimdall flash the recovery, go into recovery and flash the zip, or 2) heimdall flash the kernel and the recovery.
Will this work on the sprint tab.

Just did a reinstall of confidence and paranoia. Downloaded your kernel, but i have one question. One of them says it's specifically for recovery. Is that to say that I should flash both with heimdall having the voodoo one in the kernel zimage slot and the recovery one in the recovery slot? Seems intuitive, but i just want to be sure.
Thanks for your work!

You really only need to flash the kernel. You can heimdall flash kernel and recovery if you want, *or* heimdall flash just the recovery, go into CWM, then flash the kernel zip file. Hope this makes sense...

Voodoo sound controls
Running it now with stock rooted EF01, EXT4 conversion easy. Is it supposed to give us Voodoo sound controls because the voodoo control app says this device doesn't run a kernel supporting extended sound controls (at the very bottom)? Thanks.
Update: Sorry just read the OP again and realized I'm not using the Voodoo Plus app, just the free one. On the good side, if you just want EXT4 conversion the free one works.
So far so good...
Hello I am running Confidence and Paranoia and installed the kernal...I installed the Plus app and i'm liking what it's doing for the sound quality. I'ts nice to have all the tweaks available. I am using a headset with a mic and I'm not seeing a change in my recordings using Tape-a-Talk Voice recorder after using the different mic settings. I am actually most interested in improving the mic volume levels while using skype. I sound much quieter on my tab compared to skyping on my CM7 Desire. I have not yet used skype since install the Voodoo App...Thanks for the awesome enhancements to my tab!
Great to hear that it's working out for you guys. Try to compare quadrant scores before and after too.
The Sprint GB source is available, so you might be able to build one from that. The kernels for VZW and Sprint usually work with the only loss being 3g possibly not working. Glad to see more community work showing the CDMA tabs some love!

so far so good, just went ahead and flashed everything, seems to be working well, overall performance so far seems zippier, did some quadrants before and after and there is a considerable difference before i was getting an average of 1500 with the stock kernel and after im averaging 2200...havent played around with the sound too much..thanks for the voodoo love my friend
side note just curious if voodoo color was possibly in the works?
Jami2976, which cwm app did you dl from the market...rom manager or bootstrapper?..or something else. I can get to some sort of recovery but it is not cwm. Just wondering which app you had success with. Thanks

so there's factory recovery and CWM recovery. To get into CWM recovery, easiest to do is download any of those reboot apps from market. Most of them should have "reboot recovery" option.

Hey there
Here is a 6.0.3.7 cm10.1 source built cwmr for people who are willing to test out the restore function. I need my phone in functioning order until Saturday until I can test it myself but figured this might help people in the meantime.
Features:
Touch interface
Large fonts for easier use
Rebuilt kernel to remove root protections so adb shell functions as expected
I have tested filesystem mounts and backups and everything there works fine, but I am waiting on stock firmware to download and some free time to be without a device if restore borks things. Flashing the stock rom via odin will fix issues due to restore if there are any, but I need some willing users. If no one can I will do it myself this weekend.

Thanks, I'm hoping the new kernel might address the restore problems others have mentioned on different recoveries for hlte, I need logs from people to do much else until Saturday.
Will test as soon as I get the phone. You'll most likely have other testers before I can though:/
If anyone tests this and break their phone, this is how you fix it.
Step one: Reboot back into CWM recovery (TWRP also works, if you feel like flashing that)
Step two: format data (you have to format, NOT wipe. wiping won't do it). Again, this works in either recovery.
Step three: wipe cache/dalvik/data
step four: download and odin flash a stock image
And your Note 3 should boot again and you won't be soft bricked for 3 1/2 hours like I was
Some good news. Builds 2 and 3 can restore and boot, but lead to a lot of force closes....for those who wanna know
All, the issue is most likely with selinux being enforced in the kernel and tar not backing up the metadata properly during the backup process.
I am working on a fix now, but no recovery will work properly for the time being, stay tuned.

Not possible atm with CWMR, but could very well be working with TWRP.
CWMR is missing the underlying technology to make restore possible on an selinux enforcing device at the moment.

It wont assert right even if it does flash and boot. W8 might use a different dtb blob too, so I would recommend against flashing this period on a non t-mobile device.
Once I can get CWMR working, I will make more variants for all the other users, but the tmo device is what I have and am testing against.

I've tested the Tmob version of TWRP on my SM-N900W8 and worked fine. Not sure if that helps

Chenglu's CWM has been confirmed working now in the GN3 section. Not sure if anyone who has the phone wants to try that out.

I have been chenglu's as well it works fine on TMobile GN3 so smiles
I want to root my device. I read cf auto root thread and it seems easy enough. I always used cwm on all my previous devices. Is cwm working on the note 3 from this post? Which cwm do I install?
