I have Cyangen on my incredible and I was wondering if I could replace the battery icon with an icon that has the percentage on it. I have battery issues and would like to have granular notification of the battery status.
I had a sense rom that had this built in. Now that i'm running cyanogen I would like it back.
Its also built-in you have to turn it on. It should b under settings, cm settings, you can change lots of ui settings, i.e....clock color, batt %, etc

You can use this site to change the battery icon among other things you can try the UOT Kitchen.
(Sorry, I haven't posted enough to be able to post links, so just Google the UOT Kitchen)
UOT Kitchen Thread is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775970
UOT Kitchen is at http://circle.glx.nl/
it's pretty simple todo yourself. find a ROM that has that mod, and take some files from the drawable file add it to yours and then edit the pngs.. lou made a video its on his rom page to help with this specifically.

Has anyone been able to get a working battery percentage mod for the sense roms floating around?
It's not a mod, but I love this app. It gives percentage with a customizable icon, with lots of mods (see the post), and also gives last unplugged info, among other things.

It does not replace stock icon, but adds one more on Status bar.

its what i did and now have fully working battery percentage
Anybody know how to do this in Sense 2.1 (running RMK Gingersense right now)? Not looking for anything super special just a simple percentage would be nice, esp if someone has cooked up a simple patch for it.

is it me or is that site down? I been trying to connect all day and it goes to loading page error
It's been up and down. I managed to get through yesterday.
I just want a 6 signal bar mod and BIOS boot screen! D: lol
yeah I went to try UOT before I posted but it's been down for me yesterday and today the times I've tried That's why I was wondering if someone had cooked up one.
I might just try to learn to do it the old school way and rip out the apks
I would like the same thing, no one has themed it yet?
I've been using the "circular battery indicator", it shows %s in the status bar; You can find the .apk for it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8639993
No root required, put it in the root of your SD card and install it through Astro or another file manager.
I'm also looking for this mod on RMK's GingerSense. I'd like the stock battery with % though. Hopefully an apk will be made available.

i tried the circle battery mod and it broke my soft key lights and took away my transparent notification bar. did you have no side effects?
I did, I didn't notice right away, but ny soft lights are intermittent, still looking for a fix, I will post my findings

ChrisDDD posted a mod for gingersense in the dev section. Adds % and removes gps crosshairs from status bar

I switched to this one after tnez mentioned it, had to reinstall the transparent notifications window, but is working without my soft keys being intermittent, good looking out
found it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1206358
Thanks to ChrisDDD for creating this battery status, really looks good.
I've been trying to find out if there is a way to separate the battery icon from the 3G/WiFi symbols in the notification bar?
I'm not a developer of any sorts, but I hope to pass this info, if at all possible, to someone that might be able to. Unless if course there is someone here that can create a flashable mod for this?
Either way, I appreciate the read and any replies.

P.S.
I know of the extended settings mod that Andy Thomson has created and it is really close to what I am looking for but if this could be done, it would be the icing on the cake.

Are you on MIUI?
I didn't quite understand what you were trying to do until you mentioned extended settings, and I still kind of don't.
But if you're trying to put the battery icon on one side & the signal bars on the other, you could hide the battery with extended settings and use an app that shows a battery icon in the status bar. That battery icon would be on the side with the notifications since it's an external app.
If you could make a mockup or take a screenshot & show where you want the icons, I might be able to help you out. All of the modifications I've been able to figure out have been from MIUI, so I don't know how well it would translate to other roms. I'm sure that *if* I could do what you're trying to do on MIUI, someone could make it possible for another rom. It's just easier to do such modifications on MIUI.

I've got CM 7, the inbuilt % just gives a number next to a line and looks a bit rubbish! I'd like a mod that puts a number inside the battery, like the addons for ARHD do. I've seen some around but for different phones and I'm not sure if they'd work on the DHD or not.
Thanks
You can edit the battery icons with UOT kitchen: http://uot.dakra.lt/
Thanks, I also need it.
Is there anyway to remove the battery icon from the task bar on top???
i know jugg have the rom control where you can hide it. but since im switching over to a differnt rom i need to know if theres a .zip file that could do that.
im used to using miui battery bar. but i dun need 2 battery icons...
Thanks,
There's a paid app in the market called ROM Toolbox that can change your battery icon. It works with every ROM I've tried so far.
If you want to really customize it and don't mind having something else running on your phone all day you can try Super Statusbar as well, it comes with a built in MIUI bar.
Both come as free versions so you can test them out first.

okay, thanks man
Some of the icon changer won't work I've noticed you can only change the symbol if it has the symbol in ROM toolbox

I don't know what you mean? How would you have 2 battery icons? You can use uot kitchen and make your own battery
The MIUI battery bar runs horizontally across the top of your screen above your statusbar, so to have a second icon IN the status bar would be redundant in the OP's eyes.

Yea but the OP would have to modify some smali code which isnt very easy.

This worked for me. If you can decompile/compile smali, it's easy to edit.
