Will the new unrevoked work? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm rooting for a friend with the Droid incredible. He has the latest ota that he got automatically. So I was wondering if the new unrevoked.com
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on the IPhone. We now have the Htc Evo.

It will work, just go to unrevoked.com and download the .exe file.
If you don't have the HBOOT windows drivers installed you'll need to do that first then just plug the phone in and make sure it is on charge only with USB debugging enabled.
Double click the exe and let it run!

Okay and does this unlock nand?

Waiting for device...

Trying to root my HTC INCREDIBLE...
Downloaded:
android-sdk_r07-windows
android-usb-driver
reflash_package
I installed the usb driver and the android is showing in my device manager. The sdk is currently installing. My droid is on and connected to computer and also USB debugging is on, I'm not sure if I have HTC Sync, but when I go into Settings>Accounts & Sync I turn the Syncing off, is that it? Correct me if I'm wrong. Other sources say uninstall iTunes Agent and doubletwist and that's what I did.
I opened unrevoked recovery and it just sits at "Waiting for device. Plug phone in and enable USB debugging. Make sure HTC SYNC is not installed."
Help please! Thanks!
You need to uninstall HTC Sync from your computer if you installed it. Did you download unrEVOked's drivers? There is a post in the Development forum for this, make sure you follow that. I am assuming you're running FroYo (2.2)?

I was having similar issues. I had installed the drivers and when I opened the reflash package.exe file with the phone plugged in with USB debugging on it would just sit there and do nothing.
This is what I did to fix it. I downloaded the HTCSync directly from HTC. After the whole thing installed I went into my "add/remove programs" and deleted HTC sync but left the HTC drivers there.
Then I reconnected my phone and opened up the reflashpackage.exe file from Unrevoked 3.21 and everything went smoothly after that.
PM me if you have any questions. Good luck

[Q] Help! Error 170 on Gingerbread RUU Install to Incredible 2

I have a DINC2 with Froyo 2.2.1 (yes I know. Pitiful) . I utilize a carrier that will not pass through the Gingerbread update so I cannot upgrade via a software update check.
I have downloaded the Gingerbread RUU file (ROM Utility 1.0.3.2011) to upgrade via computer with HTC Sync but at the point of "Verifying Information on your Android Phone. Please wait..." it errors "Error 170: USB Connection Error"
Now USB connection is fine because 1) I can see SDCARD and 2) HTC Sync sees the phone. I also ran the RUU as Administration on a Windows 7 machine.
I know I'm a late bloomer but any help is appreciated. Want to get Gingerbread on so that I can root via Revolutionary.
Appreciate any help!!

The phone's USB connection needs to be set to Charge Only and then make sure that the Fastboot option is turned off in Settings, too. Also make sure that HTC Sync is not running when you start the RUU.
Here's a few options.
when it gives you that error, just try again. if that doesnt work you will need to pull the rom.zip from the RUU on your computer and then rename the "rom.zip" to "PG32IMG.zip" and put it on root of SD card, and turn off phone, hold vol down and power to get to fastboot and install the RUU like this..
now to pull the rom.zip
open the RUU. u dont need to have ur phone plugged in or anything yet, just open the RUU and wait for it to load, once loaded, click start button, and search for "%temp%" and then search through all the folders it should be in one that looks something like this "2CB47C27-73D0-47FE-A17F-4FD3FC062A8A" and you may have to go into a second folder to find it, but ull find it. and pull that rom.zip onto ur desktop. now you can exit the RUU, rename the rom.zip to what I said above, and install like I said above. it's a signed RUU from HTC so you can install it this way. I find it much easier than dealing with the RUU on the computer cos of errors.
Andybones you da man!! I did exactly what you instructed and IT WORKED! The detail in which you described so well was extremley helpful.
I am going to make a few cleanup adjustments before I am going to Root via Revolutionary.
Thank you Again. Thank You Tpbklake for responding as well!

Drivers??

I have an Incredible that is stuck on the HTC incredible screen. I can get to hboot with the following info:
INCREDIBLEC XC SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.92.0000
MICROP-0417
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.07.28

I have tried doing the PM31IMG.zip of both the Gingerbread and Froyo images, I have tried to reload hboot-92 using the same format, all tries have ended up with a message that says "no image or wrong image".
I am now trying to do a RUU, but windows does not recognize the phone. When you plug the phone in, it recognizes it as Android 1.0 but it cannot find a valid driver. I installed HTC sync from HTC's website and I tell it to use windows update, but neither of those finds a valid driver. I have tried the above method on Windows XP SP2, Windows 7 32bit, and Windows 7 64bit with the same outcome.
Any suggestions on either a valid driver or anything else to try to get a working phone?
Thanks.
*edit* I also have tried doing a factory reset from hboot, that does not help either.....

I just went thru this process this morning using ruu from:
http://pvillecomp.com/wp/wp-content...15.10.07.07_NV_1.70_release_210643_signed.exe
you may try power phone on while connected or before connected to computer. I had same recognition problem and one of these options solved issue.

Thanks.
But a new issue arrived today. Shortly after I posted, I decided to try different micro sd cards and I found one that when I put the img file on it, it actually recognized the image. Which I thought made me in the clear, I used the gingerbread image from the pvillecomp.com site. When it loaded the image and installed it the radio failed but everything else passed, then it rebooted when it was done, except it didn't really reboot it shut down and now does nothing. Can't power up, can't go into hboot, and it doesn't even show it is charging or it recognizes the usb when plugged in.

USB Transfer Problems

Hi! I'm sitting here with my cousins brand new GNex. I rooted and unlocked it. So now obviously, I want to get a new ROM and Kernel on this sucker. Only problem is I have NO way of putting files on the phone. When I plug it in via USB I got prompted with two USB methods, MTP and PTP. With MTP whenever I try to put a file (including the ZIPs...) I will get a message saying the file isn't compatible with WMP, blah blah. Then it tells me to "Skip" the file or "Skip All". So I have to skip... Then the file is not copied to my phone (because I was forced to slip copying it...). With PTP I can't even drag a file onto the phone... It just won't let me. I just want to put the ZIP files on this phone so I can flash them... How can/do I do that?
Missing the 'old' USB transferring...
K, so. The GNex is confusing. I found a work around... You can rename (in MTP transfering) the file to whatever... *.mp3*, and then rename the file with the proper extension afterwards.
