Hey gang,
I bought a used Droid Inc. It has a good ESN with Verizon, but the previous owner had it flashed to Cricket to save money on his monthly bill. I confirmed the ESN is good with Verizon.
These are my attempts thus far to return the phone to the Verizon network:
I reloaded the stock 2.2 software, but it was still on Crickets towers.
Next, I placed a Verizon PRL file (found online, but not sure if it is the right one for this phone) on my SD card, dialed ##775# then 000000 and installed the new PRL.
The phone is now on Verizon's network, but It doesn't turn on 3G data at all.
I tried *228, *22890, *22891, *22899, etc.to update the PRL... but each time it tried the "Programming" part would always end the call after about 10 seconds with a voice message stating my phone could not be programmed.
NOTE: I have not activated the phone yet, so it is without service. Local Wifi only. That shouldn't matter... but thought I would supply all available info =)
Can anyone supply me with a good PRL file for the Droid Incredible?
... or just point me in the right direction
Thnx,
Syn
This happened with my moms phone, you have to manually activate it, I don't quite remember how but give Verizon a call about it.
Sent from God, who uses OMGB-6.
LOL, if you have activated the phone yet....... no 3G... haha
Had the exact problem. I activated on my line and had no 3g and took to verizon store and nobody there could figure it out so the manager overnighted new a brand new one!! Just do that!!
Sent from HTC Droid Incredible
one time on my eris I downloaded a 3g toggle and left it off when deleted it and couldnt get 3g back til i re-downlaoded the app left it to on and deleted it. FWIW
updating to verizon's PRL OTA is *228, opt 2.
PRL update wont pass if the phone isnt activated on the network.. you must activate the ESN with VZW and do an OTA *228 opt 1. If that fails, a manual program is required, and VZW can help you with that over the phone..
(...i kinda work for verizon? but this isn't private info or anything..)
Try this - should be able to d/l a prl & install before activation.

Hi, I am currently in bermuda and I am stuck using my iphone... I would rather use my EVO. The CDMA network in bermuda is called Cellularone Bermuda.
www(dot)cellularone(dot)bm
I am asking what do i need to get my EVO working on that network.
it's 800mhz.
What other information what I have to find out and how could can i put it on their network.
Thanks.
bump? halp
Call them up and ask them to change your ESN. You'll need to get that from inside the phone under the battery (IIRC). There's a chance they won't do it because it's not their phone, but that usually is only between Verizon and Sprint. Smaller CDMA markets will sometimes do it.
ok, thanks! and what do i do with the ESN?
anymore help?

You give your local carrier the ESN and ask them to activate it. They may not be able to.
if they add your esn, thats all youll need (that and a reboot) theyll activate, youll reboot, and you should be all set.
ok, so i just went there and the phone seemed like it accepted my ESN and it made a "conversion" of it or something so it SEEMED like it was on the network but it stayed roaming.. i reread and she didnt restart is that imperative to it switching networks?
Also is the EVO locked to sprint? or is just as simple as an ESN? IF so do i just put a new rom to unlock it? which rom?
still looking for answer
After they get your ESN swapped over, you should do a factory reset ( you need your MSL for that, lookup those procedures).
THEN. update your Profile and PRL. You may get by without the factory reset if you just go do the Profile and PRL updates.

Ok So I call sprint and get my MSL.
How exactly do i do a profile and PRL updates?
hey thanks for reply. So i went back to the company got my esn switched over again and tried the prl and profile update that didnt work. So i did a factory reset and tried again it didnt work for some reason it keeps trying to connect to sprint network. the customer rep said the phone moved over to the network sucessfully. any clue? i got error 67 and error 1012 the second time. it's just keeping the sprint information in
I have a rooted HTC EVO 4G with Jiminy V rom installed and was going to flash with CDMA workshop, but before that I went to cricket to ask for a new line( I wanted MIN/MDN numbers). I have never been a cricket customer before.
My question, How do I open an account with a flashed phone? The guy at the store simply looked at my evo and said he could't do it. Am I suppose to use the model number of a cricket android to pose as mine in their database? He said he couldn't open an account without an esn of a cricket phone.
Thanks for any response
-edit-
I guess I need to have an existing phone line in order to port over the information and plan onto the EVO phone.
Is this correct? anyone
they're just being lazy and also want you to buy their stuff.(they tecnically dont support that phn cause they dont sell it and dont have a working rom on it)
you can activate online, over the phn. or goto an authorized dealer. (not a cricket corporate store, if they're the ones giving you trouble)
you need to fully flash your phn for cricket. and with cricket, your min/mdn numbers will be your 10 digit phn. number.
Yeah, thanks I ended up being able to activate with the android plan. Only problem i have is that the calls are sometimes sent directly to voicemail without my phone ringing and since there's no visual voicemail for cricket I miss calls for hours/days
I just bought a used DINC2 with the intentions of using it on Page Plus. I've factory reset the phone and it's running stock Gingerbread 2.3.4. I've noticed that the phone is always showing the roaming indicator. (I currently use an LG VX5500 flip phone on Verizon and it is never in roaming.) So, I've tried dialing *228, option 2 to update the PRL as I've seen mentioned but it's always unsuccessful (it dials but then comes back with a message that it was unsuccessful - probably because the phone isn't currently activated). I'm afraid to activate service on the phone if it has a problem and I can't call Verizon support to help because it's not activated with Verizon. Will activating the phone likely fix the problem? Any suggestions?
So the phone isn't activated but you see the roaming symbol because possibly it's trying to find an active Vetizon signal. Once activated n it knows the signal I'm 94.6% sure it won't be roaming anymore.
Sent from my forgotten by HTC Droid Incredible 2. Kept alivw by great minds at XDA that haven't forget this phone.
I went ahead and activated the phone with Page Plus and roaming is gone now. The phone must have lost it's programming because when I activated it, there was a list of things that got programmed (including the PRL). I activated another phone and it didn't do any of that on activation. Anyway, long story short, activated the phone and roaming is gone!
I broke both the screen and the USB port on my D710, so I got on eBay and ordered another phone. The replacement one I found has a broken camera and SD card reader, which is no problem since mine work fine. The ESN is advertised as being clean.
Upon receiving the phone, everything looked great and I replaced the broken parts with my own working ones to make a fully functional D710. I got on Sprint's webpage and activated the phone using the MEID and Sprint's page says the phone is activated. However, the phone won't acknowledge that it has been activated, and always says it's roaming and on 1xRTT. PRL and profile won't update. I did a one-click wipe and reinstall of GB27 and that didn't fix it either. Lastly, a Sprint tech took his swing at it and couldn't get it to activate either after a couple hours of trying.
Does anyone know any tricks for getting a stubborn phone to activate? Or, does anyone know what is happening that is preventing it from updating?
Thanks!
It turns out that whoever had the phone before me had loaded an unusual PRL. I realized this when I discovered that I had to enable international roaming in order to get a connection, then checked the PRL version to find a really weird (custom?) PRL had been loaded.
I used this link to upload a Sprint PRL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267893
Note that the MSL on the phone is 000000 since it was a clean ESN and unattached to any account (that it knew of, at least.) After loading a Sprint PRL and activating the phone online, I was able to get voice and 4G but not 3G and the phone still showed an MSL of 000000. I took it to Sprint, and they did a hands-free activation which fixed it right up.
Let me first start out by saying that I know people have been saying to never do *228 on LTE or phones with SIMs. I was doing it for years on my Gnex and never had a problem, it even updated the PRL in some cases.
Recently I was in a rural area with my 5X and it was bouncing between 3G and LTE a lot, I figured why not perform an update just in case. My phone was served 53977 and been stuck on 3G ever since. I tried taking the SIM out and rebooting many times. It just won't serve me the other PRL for LTE.
Wife's identical phone has 15457. Is there a way for me to download the PRL off her phone and serve it to mine manually?
I'm on CM13.0 - 20160610 Nightly. I think I'm on the latest baseband M8994F-2.6.32.1.1 and vendor. TWRP recovery.
Did a factory reset...flashed factory image. It is stuck in LTE now. Under "Service state" Voice: Out of service / Data: In service
I can't make calls. Nobody knows where to find the PRL file?
have you tried just calling Verizon Wireless and explaining your problem of not being able to make calls? They can probably remotely re-provision your phone.
I try to do as much as possible on my own, since I still have unlimited data I don't like to call VZW for anything. I think you're right I may have to do that at this point.
The PRL is the preferred roaming list, I don't believe it has anything to do with native coverage on Verizon, only updated roaming partners and towers.
You should not have to update the PRL on the 5x. Do a factory reset, and have Verizon activate a new Nano Sim for you. Just put the sim in and you're good to go. No need to mess with any APN settings either.
