I have a rooted HTC EVO 4G with Jiminy V rom installed and was going to flash with CDMA workshop, but before that I went to cricket to ask for a new line( I wanted MIN/MDN numbers). I have never been a cricket customer before.
My question, How do I open an account with a flashed phone? The guy at the store simply looked at my evo and said he could't do it. Am I suppose to use the model number of a cricket android to pose as mine in their database? He said he couldn't open an account without an esn of a cricket phone.
Thanks for any response
-edit-
I guess I need to have an existing phone line in order to port over the information and plan onto the EVO phone.
Is this correct? anyone
they're just being lazy and also want you to buy their stuff.(they tecnically dont support that phn cause they dont sell it and dont have a working rom on it)
you can activate online, over the phn. or goto an authorized dealer. (not a cricket corporate store, if they're the ones giving you trouble)
you need to fully flash your phn for cricket. and with cricket, your min/mdn numbers will be your 10 digit phn. number.
Yeah, thanks I ended up being able to activate with the android plan. Only problem i have is that the calls are sometimes sent directly to voicemail without my phone ringing and since there's no visual voicemail for cricket I miss calls for hours/days

Hey gang,
I bought a used Droid Inc. It has a good ESN with Verizon, but the previous owner had it flashed to Cricket to save money on his monthly bill. I confirmed the ESN is good with Verizon.
These are my attempts thus far to return the phone to the Verizon network:
I reloaded the stock 2.2 software, but it was still on Crickets towers.
Next, I placed a Verizon PRL file (found online, but not sure if it is the right one for this phone) on my SD card, dialed ##775# then 000000 and installed the new PRL.
The phone is now on Verizon's network, but It doesn't turn on 3G data at all.
I tried *228, *22890, *22891, *22899, etc.to update the PRL... but each time it tried the "Programming" part would always end the call after about 10 seconds with a voice message stating my phone could not be programmed.
NOTE: I have not activated the phone yet, so it is without service. Local Wifi only. That shouldn't matter... but thought I would supply all available info =)
Can anyone supply me with a good PRL file for the Droid Incredible?
... or just point me in the right direction
Thnx,
Syn
This happened with my moms phone, you have to manually activate it, I don't quite remember how but give Verizon a call about it.
Sent from God, who uses OMGB-6.
LOL, if you have activated the phone yet....... no 3G... haha
Had the exact problem. I activated on my line and had no 3g and took to verizon store and nobody there could figure it out so the manager overnighted new a brand new one!! Just do that!!
Sent from HTC Droid Incredible
one time on my eris I downloaded a 3g toggle and left it off when deleted it and couldnt get 3g back til i re-downlaoded the app left it to on and deleted it. FWIW
updating to verizon's PRL OTA is *228, opt 2.
PRL update wont pass if the phone isnt activated on the network.. you must activate the ESN with VZW and do an OTA *228 opt 1. If that fails, a manual program is required, and VZW can help you with that over the phone..
(...i kinda work for verizon? but this isn't private info or anything..)
Try this - should be able to d/l a prl & install before activation.

Hi everyone, I bought an Sprint HTC Evo 4g that had been flashed to cricket wireless. When it had no service the cricket "welcome to cricket" voice would answer, then one day it reverted to sprint. Anyways, I just got it hooked up with the $55 dollar android plan, only to discover that MMS (picture messaging?) and the mobile internet aren't working.
So my questions are:
1) Is there a solution to this problem? (I've searched for and tried a few things alerady)
2) Is it possible to simply re-flash the phone even though I have activated service. (also, my usb port is broken so I'd have to do it through a micro sd adapter if possible)
3) any other solutions I don't know about?
I have no idea what rom (or whaterver it's called) I'm currently running, but I can do the ##3283# (DATA) thing, and the menu and all those settings will pop up, if that helps at all. If needed, I can provide all of my current ##DATA# settings.
So please let me know if you can help, and thanks in advance!
are you sure data is actually activated on your plan? I know it took me about 10 phone calls before a tech finally realized that the android data service was not active on my account.
Also, you say the phone was already flashed to cricket? Did the person you bought it from preprogram it for your account? The phone has to be programmed via QPST with your phone number in various places in order for data to work properly.
If you don't have a functioning usb port then it is going to be impossible to program the phone via QPST and get it working correctly.
In addition, without data MMS is not going to work. You need to get data working first.
First of all, thanks for the reply! And yeah, I just called and they said it's on the $55 plan.
Yes, it was already flashed when I bought it. We actually just added it to our current account and the cricket rep. changed it to a new number. And in the ##DATA# settings, I put in my own number. Also, I have no idea what QPST is, sorry, I'm new to this whole phone flashing.
Its not possible through the sd card? because the usb port broke off... How could I get data to work?
hey guys,
i have a verizon droid incredible 2 that has s-off and is rooted, but still using the stock 2.3.3 rom. i was going abroad to visit some family, so i called up verizon, gave them my IMEI number, and voila my phone was unlocked and i could use foreign sim cards.
when i was abroad though, i could not get data to work for my phone, but i was able to make and receive calls with the new sim. after i used my cousin's phone to see if my data pack was working, her phone got a message from the sim carrier which had all the apn settings. my phone though never got the apn settings. after reading here i saw on one post that with unlocked verizon phones you have to enter the new apn's manually.
since this can be quite a nuisance, are there any custom roms for the inc2 that, once installed, can pick up the apn settings automatically? or if not, an app or any other way the inc2 can pick up the designated apn's for the new sim automatically?
(sorry if this is a noob question , i couldnt find an answer anywhere else)

Did you get it MetroFlashed? You have to add the ESN to Metro thru Houdini. And that can almost only be done at a corporate store. Doing all the provisioning thru QPST or DFS or whatever will not get your phone on Metro, even if you have a Metro PRL.
I have a flashed Evo that I used for one month on Boost mobile. I canceled that account and ported my number to Verizon PP (not important). Today I tried to port my wife's number from Sprint to Boost and use my previously flashed EVO as her phone. The number was ported successfully and the account is active. However, I cannot get the phone to work. I've tried zeroing out my MSID and MSN to initiate a hands-free activation but that doesn't seem to be working. I cannot make phone calls or access the internet without Wi-Fi. The phone is rooted, obviously, and I'm using a stock-like Sense rom that allows for the ## codes to work. Any ideas? I've spent most of the day searching, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

##786# will do a hard reset and will initiate OTA activation on a stock rom. If your rom is based off of a sense rom it should work if it has the EPST codes working. Did you try manually programming in the new phone number and MSID? (##123456# 123456 should be your MSL) you can get that info off of your acct on boosts site. Also, go to about phone, and make sure that MEID matches the MEID listed on your boost acct. As long as you have correct MEID, MDN (phone number), and MSID, talk and text should work. Also as a last thought what PRL are you currently on? It may not be connecting to sprint/boost towers if you still have a verizon PRL
