I am running the rooted version of the HTC's official 2.2 OTA update.
Everything works well. I was really looking forward to the new 3D gallery in Froyo but I have the same old gallery. Though the app has been renamed from Pictures to Gallery, it still looks and functions the same.
Am I missing something or is it there somewhere? I hope someone knows the answer.
Thanks
Mods, Am I allowed to post a link or is that considered warez?
Not too sure what is and isn't considered questionable as far as the software that comes bundled with some default ROMS goes.

the 3d gallery is from the nexus one only, nothing to do with htc, you can download a mooded one from the market search for 3d gallery

its not wares unless its an aplication that you have to pay for so for example if a rom came with a free version of copilot, and u shared it that would be warez but apps that are made by the phone developers arnt
Didn't want to go getting myself into trouble but if you think it's acceptable then i've uploaded the gallery here for anyone who wants it:
http://www.martinsamuels.me.uk/phone/gallery_flan.apk
At least I think this is the one OP is referring to.

do that version also force close then i press the camera button in 3dgallery???
Thanks, thats the app I was referring to.
And yes, it does force close when I click the camera button. Is there a fix for that?
Are there other goodies in the N1 ROM that we are missing on the HTC's 2.2 on the desire.
Thanks for all the answers....
Theres a fixed camera version somewhere. I had it, but didnt like it
Can you help us find it?
I CAN ONLY SAY:::I think the gallery 3d is not good...compared to the stock htc gallery its...very laggy and it takes to long

Does anyone know if the HTC IQAgent process is basically HTC's version of CarrierIQ?

After digging in some more it definitely appears to be. It's listening on port 2479 which is the same port that Samsung's CarrierIQ listens on.
I just read about samsung's version of this IQ; sounds very shady.
Does any know if any of the EVO developers have managed to remove this from their ROMs?

Not sure. I read the same thing about Samsung's version of IQ which was what made me start looking at my running processes. That's when I noticed HTC IQAgent and started digging in.
I just flashed CyanogenMOD and there's no agent. I guess the best bet is to go with an AOSP based ROM to be sure. Hopefully it can be pulled from custom Sense based ROM's.
Very Interesting! If I were a DEV I would certainly list this in my Changelog!
It looks like there's a 4.1 update that may contain some new radio firmware and other changes - I haven't heard anything about 4.1 for the GSM version, but I doubt they would keep CDMA and GSM phones on completely seperate versions of Android. Do any devs or other important people know anything about this?

Yeah, but all LTE Nexus out right now are prototype devices, not retail models. The update may be available to both GSM and LTE owners when the LTE version finally launches.

I doubt Google have anything that could be considered a major release already.
Looks like a mistake or intentional padding to diferentiate Them.
P3droid and I both have test devices that get pushed the latest test builds directly from Google.
We are well ahead of the release version.
Sweet. So I take it none of this is going to drop anytime soon? I'm just curious, I haven't even found anything wrong with my Galaxy nexus yet

If it looks at all to be like Honeycomb the next major version will be 5.0 because honeycomb is currently on 3.2(.1) and the 0.0.1 was a minor bug fix

I'm talking major revision in the ICS branch, not 5.0/Jelly Bean/Whatever.
But if it's a version in testing it is of course plausible that it is a major revision, i didn't read the links and thought it was retail devices with it.
It's 4.1 and has significant enhancements...I would call it a major revision.

like what? do you have both versions of GN to compare them?
I think 4.1 at API level 15 would make sense. (But would be for both GSM and CDMA) The AOSP 4.0 code makes some reference to something explicitly to be added in API level 15 but not available in 14 (ICS 4.0 is API level 14). And there's the Android Dreams/screensaver (Rocket Launcher) thing that is clearly there but not documented or normally accessible (Though it's in the API 14 support lib...).
With Honeycomb Google did 3.0 (API 11), 3.1 (API 12) and 3.2 (API 13). Then ICS 4.0 at API level 14. It'd make sense for them to do major.minor.bugfix with minor updates being an API change or feature additions.
(Also there was Eclair 2.0 (API 6?) and then Eclair 2.1 (API 7))
However they also did Gingerbread 2.3 at API level 9 and Gingerbread 2.3.3 at API level 10 rather than making it 2.4.
No , we both have LTE engineering models.
There is a new clockscreen screensaver mode when charging that shows the time and opens the screen if you touch the time display. Also many internal framework changes as well. subtle but nonetheless noticeable changes in the UI. It's really nice...and we just got another update that I haven't had a chance to load yet...just got off work.

Hmm...interesting. Sounds like 4.1 is needed for the docks to work properly, since they need landscape orientation and with no power button access. Looks like the docks were designed with these features in mind, but they couldn't finish the features in time.
Oh gosh, this means I have to suffer through another update availability Check Now stress soon.

Any thoughts of device performance after the update?
This is interesting. It implies that Google are doing what they did with Eclair (release 2.0 and then release 2.1, which was a major release, but not major enough for a new desert name). It's also obviously what they did with Honeycomb, a la 3.0, 3.1, 3.2. Weirdly, it wasn't done with Gingerbread. (I think 2.3.1-2.3.7 could have been all put together as 2.4, but hey).
Also, nice changes. Can't wait to see official release documents on it
Last nights update was very minor, no significant changes. I just loaded it this morning so I haven't had time to really use it yet, sorry.
Edit: they removed the clockscreen saver mode when charging. Probably intended for dock mode rather than simply with charger connected. There was a minor bug with facelock when first unlocking screen by touching the clock.
Will report back any other changes found while using it today.

the 2.4.0 does work but due to ICS there are issues thats why I wanted the 2.4.2 release which has been updated on DEC 27th to support ICS ... but as the market is limited to SGS2, Tab and Note I cant fetch it on the Nexus ...
*bump* c'mon guys dont let me down on this one ... really need it ...
really? no one able to quickly fetch, backup and upload it? tried almost everything possible, editing build.prop to get recognized as a SGS2 on the market, android emulator patching and stuff ... unfortunately all attempts did fail ...
so if anyone would be so kind it would be highly appreciated

This was the only reason I bought my nexus

Hi!
I'm having the problem that in Jelly Bean now maps doesn't show any Latitude-friends. It says there were no friends.
I first thought this was because now I've changed my GMail domain (in Germany it first was googlemail.com and now you could switch to gmail.com), but on my Xoom running ICS and the latest maps it works all right. It's just on my GN, where it doesn't work.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or does s.o. have an idea how to fix it?
Regards
McDV

Why should we?
1) I generally use CM9-nightlies, so why not this?
2) It surely is not very unstable, instead, it's pretty stable. Think about it: They want to release the official version in mid july! What do you think how much they can fix until then? There might be single small bugs left, but if the system could still be considered "unstable", they wouldn't release it before fall! And they wouldn't hand out a firmware to the press, if it wasn't - over all - finish. Just imagine what the Apple-community would write in their blogs...

No one complains, we just ask for solutions that - obviously - exist. There's nothing wrong about it.
I really hate those guys with their "just wait for the official release" stuff. No one prevents you guys from waiting, but please let us enthusiasts test it and let us discuss ways to solve existing bugs on our own. If this annoys you, just don't read it! Thanks!
Glad I searched XDA for this problem - the fix worked for me too. I'm impressed with how stable the leak is already. This has been my only problem so far with native Google apps, or the ROM itself.

How in Tarnations did you manage to install Jelly Bean, if you can't figure out that you need to be rooted to do that?
Protip: I would save/backup the apk somewhere else instead of deleting it so that I can replace it when the final JB update rolls out. This way, nothing gets borked.

Just to respond to the CM9, 4.1 releasing in two-ish weeks so how could many updates occur and the Apple bit:
You say you use CM9 nightlies? Have you noticed just how many bug fixes the CM team can apply in one night? I've seen dozens, and occasionally around 100 bug fixes in a single evening. The CM team is a group (an admittedly large group for independent developers) of people who code for CM on their spare time and are not paid for their work. Imagine what a legion of official Android developers paid by Google for their work on Android could accomplish with bug fixes in a matter of a fortnight! Also, Apple releases developer previews of iOS every single year that are ALSO filled with huge bugs, broken and/or missing features, all the way up to a week or two prior to official release (and sometimes those bugs make it into multiple official releases). The reason you don't hear about the iOS bugs so much is that you have to pay for a developer's license for iOS in order to install most iOS developer previews (unless there is a workaround). In this case, 6,000 Galaxy Nexus and 6,000 Nexus 7's were given to 6,000 developers to preview the software so that they could start getting their applications ready for release. This 'release' was never intended for the end user and was probably already out of date compared to Google's internal builds by the time it came out to those 6,000 folks.
If you want to test it out too, that's awesome! However, it is completely pointless to complain about problems with software that hasn't even been officially released yet and you were never intended to be running to begin with. Also, all non-GSM Galaxy Nexus ROMs are ports and have added bugs as well. The Jelly Bean preview is largely stable and already an excellent update. I just wish Google had held onto it for the full release as users are using the preview's bugs (Google has already stated they are working on bugs they know are in the preview, and some have already been fixed) as an example of exactly what the official release will be like already.

I ask you once again: Who complained about a bug??? Please tell me! No one did! There is just a question of how to cope with an existing bug or how to fix it on our own, but not even one person in this thread complained about the release not being bugless! The only one complaining about things is you, but your complains are totally off-topic. I hope you got it now!
could anyone upload the apk?
Thanks.
