I am running the rooted version of the HTC's official 2.2 OTA update.
Everything works well. I was really looking forward to the new 3D gallery in Froyo but I have the same old gallery. Though the app has been renamed from Pictures to Gallery, it still looks and functions the same.
Am I missing something or is it there somewhere? I hope someone knows the answer.

the 3d gallery is from the nexus one only, nothing to do with htc, you can download a mooded one from the market search for 3d gallery

its not wares unless its an aplication that you have to pay for so for example if a rom came with a free version of copilot, and u shared it that would be warez but apps that are made by the phone developers arnt

I CAN ONLY SAY:::I think the gallery 3d is not good...compared to the stock htc gallery its...very laggy and it takes to long

Ah... darn. For future reference, what is the /data/data folder for gallery3d? I'll need to delete its settings to try anything... But I can't see it standing out, just wondered if you knew?

The problem is not in the apk its in the 3d drivers.
I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask in, but here it goes.
Does anyone have a problem with slow loading picture thumbs in the 3d gallery?
Some times the thumbs never even load at all. And every time I start the 3d gallery app the thumbs start to load from scratch... slooooowly. So the gallery is almost unusable for browsing photos.

In any case, in the latest 5.1 Villain ROM the gallery works perfectly. You could ask to the developer how to do it....
Using the fixed app will not fix it across every ROM, as you've discovered.
It's a pain in the arse, and to tell you the truth, I tried that many things to fix it that I'm not even 100% sure which fixed it.
It's really not worth it... HTC's official ROM will use 'Photos' anyway... as the Desire/Legend official roms do.
The rotation bug is not in the app itself but the 3d drivers in the phone. It is currently fixed in 5.1 and sure it will remain that way in 5.2
I am currently using 5.1 and I don't have the rotation bug. Just my photos load very very slowly and some of them don't load up at all.
I can help you fix this, just PM me the details and the rom you're using.
Did anyone here have any success in finding a gallery apk that works without the rotation bug in legend roms like legendary and legendroid?
I love the Gallery but I also love the legend hero ports because of the extra widgets and enhanced browser you get. Would be fantastic to have the best of both worlds...
So I'm running the newest Fresh, 0.5.3, and I have a few questions. First, I want the vanilla dialer, calendar, and messaging. I don't doubt I can find the apps floating around, but when I tried pushing Mms.apk, it doesn't load. I'm guessing it's because of the way Fresh is signed. Do I need flipz's key in order to sign my own apks for pushing, or can I sign with a key generated on my own?
Also, I'd like to link the camera with Gallery3D.apk and vice versa, where do I begin to look at that?
Finally, I'd like the eclair style lock (with the rotating dial), but I haven't the faintest idea where to begin for that one.
I can tinker around and figure all of the above out, but I would greatly appreciate any pushes in the right direction.

As for the Gallery3D, I just installed the .apk with the installer app..? Is there some further "link" to the camera to peruse the pics?

ok, anyways.. i have been pouring over smali files for days, trying different files in lib,bin and from looking at the log, my current guess is that the issue lies with the recording of audio when you hit record, which it runs into an error when it tries and crashes the apk.. i dont know if thats correct and im not sure what needs to be done to fix it, but thats why we have a dev thread for eh?
How about 720 recording ...is it just not possible cause I figured someone would have figured this out by now

well, that isnt something i believe that can be done at the moment, but i do believe it is possible and from what i have read its mostly a kernel issue, seeing as how wp7 can do it on our hardware and thats all software..
but before we even approach that here, i would like to get just basic recording working with the newer camcorder function..

Which apk is the one with all the boxy border .....I hate that one, the one that comes with cmyxlo builds is the one I would love to have in my cm7 rom I'm currently on. And will it install

the boxy border? i have not seen that.. and the one in cmylxgo's rom is of course, the older one with the working camcorder function..

What about A/V sync in Sense builds? I've been flashing and flashing, and have yet to find a truly working camcorder in this regard? Is this likely to be fixed?

well, who knows? maybe the different version of the camcorder could fix it? who knows until we get it working...
i think people are more likely to be using the camera so if we get a camera,it will be a big breakthrough and then the camcorder will probably come after you figured out the camera,keep up the hard work

well, who knows, what i would like to see is people posting logs from alogcat at the time the try to run the camera (if it fc's as soon as you open it) or when they hit record (if it fc's there)
i dont know what the issue is with the gb camera (does it fc on open?)
but i wouldn't mind if this say, became the thread where we work out camera issues on all builds
and if enough people posted log snippets, just maybe we can find a commonality and that would head us in the right direction..
as it stands im figuring that the issue lies in the kernel or the libs, with the kernel looking more likely, im figuring it needs updated code to be compatible with the newer cameras and more then likely if we can get the newer camera working here, then the gb camera would also..

here i have attached the logcat. this is my first time. so im not sure if ok. i have started the logcat and then i click the camera then it did soft reset and reboot i close the logcat.

what camera apk is this and what rom?
and do this when you post these, look at the time on your watch or computer when you hit record and mention that. as long as its set the same as your device (your pc should have its clocked auto synced just like your phone so its times should match). this way there wont be a need to do a bunch of fishing for the error in the log.. oh, and set your log type to long under alogcat preferences..
edit: ok i see this is the gingerbread rom..
and wow lots of permission errors and a java failed binder transaction then all your services die..
and another odd, it seems to be connecting to htc database servers to check for updates..

I just updated my SGS2 to 2.3.4 today and unfortunately, I seem to have lost the part that I liked the most about the messaging app: the ability to change themes. I really hate the way it looks now and would really like the plain look of one of the themes back.
Is it possible to push the older themable messaging app. to this new firmware and get the theme functionality back?
If anyone has the messaging app that supports themes, could you please pull it and attach it here so I can give it a try?

I understand that there are alternatives available but I wish to have the stock messaging app back which supports themes I would really appreciate it if someone could pull it from their phone.

Here's what I tried:
I tried downloading an older KE7 firmware from 18th May and extracted the Mms.apk/odex and MmsProvisioning.apk/odex files and pushed them to /system/app and tried rebooting but that didn't change anything
If I try INSTALLING the new Mms.apk file it says Application not installed even if I try remounting the system as rw

Yes theres a solution, after every new rom install i flash with cwm this mms fix and it restores the message themes.

And get Darky's odex->deodexed converter and install that first using DarkyRom2 Tool (available free on market)

I tried the solution posted above but once you go depdexed you lose hardware acceleration in the browser and it gets laggy as hell. I guess I'm gonna have to keep on hoping for an odex solution
You could go back to 2.3.3 , really what will you be missing out?

Hi ya'll, I'm having some pretty iritable problems with instagram on my desire z, I can snap pictures allright, but when they are processed they always come out with some green stuff on the picture, anyone know how to fix it?

Are you running a custom ROM? Most (all?) of the ics/jb ROMs have issues with third-party camera apps.

With just bout any ICS rom (except maybe Virtuous Infinity, which is painfully slow right now), any app other than the stock camera app the rom comes with, will usually exhibit problems on the image (corruption etc). This is normally true of any '3rd party' apps on those roms.
The work around would be to snap the image with your main camera app, and then import it into instagram from the gallery.
