So I'm running the newest Fresh, 0.5.3, and I have a few questions. First, I want the vanilla dialer, calendar, and messaging. I don't doubt I can find the apps floating around, but when I tried pushing Mms.apk, it doesn't load. I'm guessing it's because of the way Fresh is signed. Do I need flipz's key in order to sign my own apks for pushing, or can I sign with a key generated on my own?
Also, I'd like to link the camera with Gallery3D.apk and vice versa, where do I begin to look at that?
Finally, I'd like the eclair style lock (with the rotating dial), but I haven't the faintest idea where to begin for that one.
I can tinker around and figure all of the above out, but I would greatly appreciate any pushes in the right direction.
Can't help ya with the vanilla programs, as I don't know how.
As for the Gallery3D, I just installed the .apk with the installer app..? Is there some further "link" to the camera to peruse the pics?
As for the default Eclare lock screen, I believe Flipz said how to do it on his site, geekfor.me

Thanks for the answer. I have the lock from flipz, but that's the hero style, I want the eclair style. Hero is working alright for now though. As for the camera link, I'm not really sure. I did see somewhere that one of the AOSP like roms got the camera and Gallery3d to connect properly (camera button to camera, gallery button to Gallery3d and such). I'm not completely sure, but I'll see what I can find out.

I miss having separate wallpapers for portrait and landscape like I had on my TP2.
Is it possible to do this on a G1, with 1.6, and no root?
(Please don't start the "why don't you root" stuff, at this point in time I will not get any benefit from it, I don't feel like changing all my settings again, and there seems to be no definite guide for UK DRC92.)
android has no built in feature that allows you to do this but there may be a home replacement app that will do this, not sure though

I was kind of hoping there was an app that'd allow this with the stock home, every home replacement I've tried has either been laggy, FC's a lot, or is just useless in general.
I am not aware of any such feature. It's not doable in the stock home screen or any home replacement I'm aware of.

Dual Wallpaper allows the user to select two different wallpapers to be set when the phone is either in Landscape or Portrait mode.
When the orientation changes, the application will automatically change the wallpaper.
For 2.x phones only

The problem is not in the apk its in the 3d drivers.
I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask in, but here it goes.
Does anyone have a problem with slow loading picture thumbs in the 3d gallery?
Some times the thumbs never even load at all. And every time I start the 3d gallery app the thumbs start to load from scratch... slooooowly. So the gallery is almost unusable for browsing photos.

In any case, in the latest 5.1 Villain ROM the gallery works perfectly. You could ask to the developer how to do it....
Using the fixed app will not fix it across every ROM, as you've discovered.
It's a pain in the arse, and to tell you the truth, I tried that many things to fix it that I'm not even 100% sure which fixed it.
It's really not worth it... HTC's official ROM will use 'Photos' anyway... as the Desire/Legend official roms do.
The rotation bug is not in the app itself but the 3d drivers in the phone. It is currently fixed in 5.1 and sure it will remain that way in 5.2
I am currently using 5.1 and I don't have the rotation bug. Just my photos load very very slowly and some of them don't load up at all.
I can help you fix this, just PM me the details and the rom you're using.
Did anyone here have any success in finding a gallery apk that works without the rotation bug in legend roms like legendary and legendroid?
I love the Gallery but I also love the legend hero ports because of the extra widgets and enhanced browser you get. Would be fantastic to have the best of both worlds...

Everything works well. I was really looking forward to the new 3D gallery in Froyo but I have the same old gallery. Though the app has been renamed from Pictures to Gallery, it still looks and functions the same.
Am I missing something or is it there somewhere? I hope someone knows the answer.

the 3d gallery is from the nexus one only, nothing to do with htc, you can download a mooded one from the market search for 3d gallery

its not wares unless its an aplication that you have to pay for so for example if a rom came with a free version of copilot, and u shared it that would be warez but apps that are made by the phone developers arnt

I know the title may be confusing.
BUT, on literally even ROM i use i remove anything HTC, the only things I must leave in are HTCContacts.apk and HTCDialer.apk. Sometimes the HTCCamera but only if AOSP cam not included. Anyways, the reason those two must be left in is because your contacts will NOT sync if they arent there. Even if they are there and are frozen through Titanium Backup the sync works. However remove them and it dies. I have tried several different Contacts+Phone apks +renamed nothing... If it is a Sense-based ROM those have to stay in there.
Can someone help on the issue please. I know I am not the only one affected by this... All the Senseless ROM chefs know about it, I'm sure (minus true AOSP as CM6+)
sidenote... another htc thing that can be removed which i hate is in /system/framework. called com.htc.rss.jar. no one likes rss anyways

Ok so here's the deal. With Sense, HTC modifies the Android source to a high degree. Because of this its hard to replace or remove certain files. The contacts provider or social networking service for example. So we need to figure a way to replace those files properly or remove the need for apps like the dialer. I think the key lies in the Android source.

I just watched an engadget video of the sony ericsson play (ps phone) and one thing that popped out was the phone tabs were at the bottom of the screen. That is a very interesting look and I would like to know how it was done. Also, if this could be implemented in a theme or a standalone phone/contact.apk, it would be very cool.
I don't know what xml (if any) would need to be edited to get this look. If someone would be kind enough to figure it out and toss it over, many would enjoy. One for froyo and one for gingerbread would be great.
I'll update this post with an update.zip for all to enjoy and give props to the problem solver...

i think u would do better by posting a link to the video so that people can see what you are talking about. cuz i personally have no clue what u are talking about. are u talking about the tabs within the dialer for like call history and contacts? i think those are the tabs. i have a sense rom so i wouldnt know about stock dialer
