[Q] Maps Latitude doesn't work within Jelly Bean - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi!
I'm having the problem that in Jelly Bean now maps doesn't show any Latitude-friends. It says there were no friends.
I first thought this was because now I've changed my GMail domain (in Germany it first was googlemail.com and now you could switch to gmail.com), but on my Xoom running ICS and the latest maps it works all right. It's just on my GN, where it doesn't work.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or does s.o. have an idea how to fix it?
Regards
McDV

Fix for Latitude
Delete the APK /System/App/maps.apk and redownload from the market. I can now see all my latitude friends.

Just wait for the official release of JB, this version is not the last build of JB and will be very "unstable".... Why dont you guys doenst just wait ????

Why should we?
1) I generally use CM9-nightlies, so why not this?
2) It surely is not very unstable, instead, it's pretty stable. Think about it: They want to release the official version in mid july! What do you think how much they can fix until then? There might be single small bugs left, but if the system could still be considered "unstable", they wouldn't release it before fall! And they wouldn't hand out a firmware to the press, if it wasn't - over all - finish. Just imagine what the Apple-community would write in their blogs...

No one complains, we just ask for solutions that - obviously - exist. There's nothing wrong about it.
I really hate those guys with their "just wait for the official release" stuff. No one prevents you guys from waiting, but please let us enthusiasts test it and let us discuss ways to solve existing bugs on our own. If this annoys you, just don't read it! Thanks!

Glad I searched XDA for this problem - the fix worked for me too. I'm impressed with how stable the leak is already. This has been my only problem so far with native Google apps, or the ROM itself.

How in Tarnations did you manage to install Jelly Bean, if you can't figure out that you need to be rooted to do that?
Protip: I would save/backup the apk somewhere else instead of deleting it so that I can replace it when the final JB update rolls out. This way, nothing gets borked.

Just to respond to the CM9, 4.1 releasing in two-ish weeks so how could many updates occur and the Apple bit:
You say you use CM9 nightlies? Have you noticed just how many bug fixes the CM team can apply in one night? I've seen dozens, and occasionally around 100 bug fixes in a single evening. The CM team is a group (an admittedly large group for independent developers) of people who code for CM on their spare time and are not paid for their work. Imagine what a legion of official Android developers paid by Google for their work on Android could accomplish with bug fixes in a matter of a fortnight! Also, Apple releases developer previews of iOS every single year that are ALSO filled with huge bugs, broken and/or missing features, all the way up to a week or two prior to official release (and sometimes those bugs make it into multiple official releases). The reason you don't hear about the iOS bugs so much is that you have to pay for a developer's license for iOS in order to install most iOS developer previews (unless there is a workaround). In this case, 6,000 Galaxy Nexus and 6,000 Nexus 7's were given to 6,000 developers to preview the software so that they could start getting their applications ready for release. This 'release' was never intended for the end user and was probably already out of date compared to Google's internal builds by the time it came out to those 6,000 folks.
If you want to test it out too, that's awesome! However, it is completely pointless to complain about problems with software that hasn't even been officially released yet and you were never intended to be running to begin with. Also, all non-GSM Galaxy Nexus ROMs are ports and have added bugs as well. The Jelly Bean preview is largely stable and already an excellent update. I just wish Google had held onto it for the full release as users are using the preview's bugs (Google has already stated they are working on bugs they know are in the preview, and some have already been fixed) as an example of exactly what the official release will be like already.

I ask you once again: Who complained about a bug??? Please tell me! No one did! There is just a question of how to cope with an existing bug or how to fix it on our own, but not even one person in this thread complained about the release not being bugless! The only one complaining about things is you, but your complains are totally off-topic. I hope you got it now!

could anyone upload the apk?
Thanks.

me too - i have the one from three versions back - the old (2nd?) market... green thing on the top.
never got the newer one, never got the one after and havent had this one - are they only rolling it out to newer devices (i.e. dual cores?)
I have had the beta version, lets hope this is a bit speedier!
Newer version lags in my Desire
the 2.3.6 version is still the fastest and usable
the feature of the new version are great, but still too slow, too much data downlaoded from the net, too much cpu used..hope they will optime it soon with a new version
Thanks man!
Really laggy for me too. Its like it hangs when trying to update or see installed apps.
I have the version 2.3.6
Running smooth for me am using MIUI RoM Android 2.3.5
I'll wait for it in the new iteration of Oxygen. Last time I installed 3.0.27 from the .apk half of apps on the market were on Italian. Don't know why. But if I turn a blind eye on that, I'm not overly happy with the new market. It is so cluttered compared to 2.3.6.

the 2.4.0 does work but due to ICS there are issues thats why I wanted the 2.4.2 release which has been updated on DEC 27th to support ICS ... but as the market is limited to SGS2, Tab and Note I cant fetch it on the Nexus ...
*bump* c'mon guys dont let me down on this one ... really need it ...
really? no one able to quickly fetch, backup and upload it? tried almost everything possible, editing build.prop to get recognized as a SGS2 on the market, android emulator patching and stuff ... unfortunately all attempts did fail ...
so if anyone would be so kind it would be highly appreciated

Cerberus security app wont take pic of potential theif (market version)

hey guys, I just bought Cerberus! (The beta 2.0 works perfect btw link provided in another post below this post)
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lsdroid.cerberus&hl=en
Seriously awesome security application for Android.
Tried the beta for GNEX a few weeks ago, worked perfect, had it on Eagleblood ROM. Bought it today, now Im on AOPK Milestone 2 ROM, everything works perfect except it wont take pictures of potential thief when I do the the pin code or swipe lock wrong.
Anyone with AOPK M2 have Cerberus and have success?
Just to clarify, https://www.cerberusapp.com/ everything works on the security end like tracking, sending messages and locking the phone etc through the website. Only thing that wont work is snapshot of thief when code done wrong at lock screen.
Try asking Roman directly in his thread.. he is usually very good with getting back to people + he's a friendly guy! Try the thread on RW though....
update!
Just tried the old beta 2.0 apk and it works fine. (picture snapping of potential thief)
so its the market version that has issue.
I emailed Cerberus support about this.
Gonna stick with the 2.0 beta cerberus for now!

NP. Best security app really.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17156337/Cerberus.apk for the ICS beta, in case you cant get the front facing cam to take pics of potential thief. (only problem im having)
all works perfect in the beta link i provided.
Let me know if the market version works for you in that problem Im having.
If it works for you then its gotta be just a bug which the support team is aware of and should fix it soon.

[ROM][02/10/2012][UNOFFICIAL][NIGHTLY][CyanogenMod 7.2-RC0]

First of all I want to make some things clear:
This is my own custom build I made with the help of this great tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775505
This has nothing to do with the offical nightly build from Cyanogen and his team.
I won't provide any support for this. If you want to flash this you should know what you do. Don't ask me anything like "How do I flash this?".
This could be even more unstable then the official nightly build since I add commits that are not merged. It's a great feature preview, but I can't guarantee anything. I can't tell you if the features you see here will make it into any official build.
What is it?
Its a custom build of the latest Cyanogen sources spiced up with some not (yet?) merged patches.
I don't know how often I will make new builds, it depends if I find new things I want to try. If there are no new commits that interest me I won't make a new build.
I will only upload builds that work for me. So the basic stuff should work for everyone, if it doesn't try to wipe before flashing. If it still doesn't work use the official nightly/RC/stable/whatever... (Thats the point with "I won't provide any support").
Difference to the official CM nightly
Download
MD5
I made something like this already for the Nexus One and many people liked it.
And since we don't get official nightlys since a long time already I thougt I start making my own nightlys again.
02/10/2012: new build, added latest commits from cm + cherry picked commits (again with AROMA Installer to choose WiFi calling)
02/04/2012: same build but with AROMA Installer. You can choose if you want to have WiFi calling or not before flashing the ROM.
02/01/2012: new build, added latest commits from cm + cherry picked commits

How is it dead? 2.3 is what our phones can run most efficiently with speed and smoothness, 4.0 is still choppy and major graphical glitches. Not everyone wants an unstable rom which will not be at it's optimum until a while longer.
On the other hand, I will be trying this out and thank you for putting in your time and effort to bring us another rom to choose from

Since ICS ROMs don't have camera fully working I wouldn't consider 2.3 dead. Many people including myself require a fully functional camera.
With that said I actually couldn't get camera and gallery to work on this ROM. I flashed it on top of stable CM 7.1.0 wiping only cache and dalvik.
I'm not going to do a full wipe at this point, neither am I looking for support but thought I would mention it.

What???
You say that the version which works best on our phone is dead?
You mean 4.0 which brings us graphical glitches, no fully functional camera, bluetooth issues ... is better?
Lets talk about this in half a year again, but for now Gingerbread is the most stable and best performing version for our phones.

Maybe I'll make an additional zip for wifi calling, I won't include it in the rom for sure since I can't use it.
Just a heads up...for some reason removing the wifi calling files breaks my APN connection with AT&T. Makes no sense on the surface. Put back both the apks and the libs and I've got signal again.

I know. I Do follow dot1ne. However it must be leaked somewhere. Seen a follower who is a huge apple fan but used Android for a week or two, who has gone from a week of plume to using carbon since yesterday. Which makes me think someone has leaked the apk from dot1ne's original group. 2 other users I know who were on his release list (old webOS users) wont pass on [which I understand]

Ah c'mon guys, not like this. We're still in alpha stage working hard to get it out as soon as we can, but leaks? c'mon... this sort of stuff is going to get us real demotivated as this is our first Android app and we love Android.
Once we're ready we'll have a beta out for public use and hit Google Play before you know it. We're getting there. I'd appreciate it if requests for leaks stopped. It ain't gonna' be good for anyone and plus our alpha testing list are all awesome and trustworthy that won't leak any APK.
Cheers, until an update that is coming real soon.

If it's a private alpha please respect their wishes and wait until it's ready to be made public. Any leaks would be considered warez and are not to be discussed here.
