Phone: EXCA200 (as read on the back) AZERTY keyboard. ActiveSync says is a HTC-S620
Story: My best friend bought this phone in France and some guy tried to be nice and apparently tried to install some games on it. He broke it. She came to me after and said, "if you fix it you can keep it-- but i don't think you can". ( She was using the phone in the US with a US carrier at that time i think it was Cingular)
When I turn on the phone and after the HTC and WinMobile screens the sim error screen appears (the phone has no sim) and 999999 as if the "9" key is stuck. After that, the phone just goes crazy with alarms and if I'm lucky and get over that just 9999999999999 endlessly. I thought at first that it was water damage so i took it apart and found no evidence of water whatsoever.
I found the HTCwiki and tried the hard reset technique (pressing power button while pressing the two open keys) and after 50+ tries i gave up. No luck.
I found a couple good threads that describe how to reflash the phone with RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly.exe" and RUU_Excalibur_HTC_GER_1.11.407.2_4.1.13.28_02.63.90_Ship.exe
I get "ERROR 294" INVALID VENDOR ID
Please!! Help!! My experience with smart phones is 2 days with a broken one.
I live in Mexico and smart phones are still something you only see on TV. No one to ask, nowhere to go.
Sincerely,
Salvador333
Where is everyone?
Nobody has any advice?
Nothing?
Do i have to unlock the phone? Can you use a locked phone in France and then in the US without unlocking it?
Should I pay 38 dlls?
salvador333.

Mr monakh:
Ive tried the reset sequence many times before starting a new thread. Ive spent many hours just doing that in all the imaginable different timings. All I get is the HTC screen first and the Windows mobile screen second, after that, without a SIM, a screen telling me i have no sim and in the cursor just 99999 and after many alarms it crashes; with a sim, it will boot and 9999999... and the the screen locks and its impossible to press "unlock *"
This is the reason I'm asking for help. The only thing I can imagine is to re-flash the phone. I tried to re-flash it, but apparently i have to pay to get my phone unlocked before being able to re-flash. Is this true?
I really appreciate your help. Thank You.
Salvador.
I also want to add that i know its not a hardware problem, I disconnected the keyboard from the motherboard and the 99999 still there.
Is it possible that the hard reset sequence described above doesn't work? --(both soft keys work)
Is there a way to remap the 9 key into a harmless key, so i can hard reset the phone trough software?
(the phone syncs normally to my computer)
Thanks.
The hard reset sequence should work. I don't know of any reason, short of hardware failure, why it wouldn't.
I think you can try re-flashing the ROM, if you like, but it really is more likely to be a hardware problem than a ROM issue. It doesn't necessarily have to do with the keyboard (you actually disconnected the keyboard?!) but you can still can get the '9' for other reasons.
You don't need to get the phone CID unlocked to get a different ROM, but you do have to play around a bit to get it done. I am sorry, I can't offer more step by step help but it might be beneficial for you if you read through the following two threads:

I thought it was water damage at first, but when i took it apart, i couldn't find anything to indicate there was any liquid in there. I thought maybe the keyboard was the problem and, yes, i did disconnect it from the motherboard (its actually really easy) and the same 9999. What other hardware reasons could make the "9" problem? I cant find any reason to believe its hardware. I boots kind of normally, it goes into manual bootloader no problem, it syncs with my computer etc. It just wont go into the hard reset mode! WEIRD.
I read the threads and the only clue i found to re-flash was to downgrade the bootloader by getting the phone in manual bootload (camera button and connecting USB) and run the .exe. I did, and INVALID VENDOR ID. Is anything i missed in the threads to be able to re-flash?
I truly appreciate your comments.
Salvador.

CID, 111111, google.
Im on it.
Thanks!
dude why not replace it its under warranty man stop making an issue of this do your hoemwork read just like everyone else !!
I did it!
I tried the cid 111111 bla bla, and it was jut to much effort for a phone so i just went to imei-check and unlock everything. Damn! 40dlls, many Mexican pesos. So i installed the German version ROM and the F... 99999999 was still there!!!! I wanted to kill myself, monakh you were right. I opened the phone for like the 20th time and i knew it was hardware... and there it was, lead rust in the keyboard connector. I took a tooth brush, some alcohol and i brushed. VoilĂ ! no more "9" I could have saved money time and effort if i just had looked close enough.
I'm happy i got into this, i love to learn new tricks.
You guys were really helpful, and a bit shady, i have to say.
Thank you.
Salvador.
. I think i am smart dumb!!.. <<-"Try Reseting the CID" haha.
This happens when you have too much of knowledge...!! truely education spoiled me!!
Glad it worked out for you and I am sorry you had to pay $40 but hopefully it will pay off for you in the long run.
leoiden, if you note, he is in Mexico and has no reasonable means to exchange the phone under warranty. It was acquired in France. Please pay more attention to the original post before prancing down someone's throat. Thanks.
Hi all,
I tried doing a search on this before posting this thread. No luck. I just got my TP2 on sunday. I let it charge and flashed HardSPL and a few roms. I noticed my phone would turn completely off when I open and close the screen. At first, I thought it was the display turning off to save power, but the phone is actually turning completely off and I need to hit the power button and boot it back up again. Is this a setting I need to change? Or could there be something wrong with my phone? I also tried going back to the stock rom to eliminate that as a cause and the same thing happens.
Any help is appreciated.
I have posted an almost similar question here with no reply.

Not sure what the problem is. In my case the solution is not to close the keyboard when OneNote Mobile is still open!
My colleague is having the same prob, from what he is experiencing, i would suggest a hardware fault, probably just a loose ribbon cable... but best send it back to HTC to avoid voiding your warranty

Hi,
I had this issue to and send the phone in for repair. The said that it was a problem with the mainboard - replaced it and send it back. It now works perfect.
REMEMBER!!! If you want to send the TP2 in for repair you must reflash the SPL back to the original one, I think it is 0.79.0000 (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131 for how to restore to the original HardSPL)
discoverd the same issue, happened to me about a week ago for a few times, when i slide in/out the keyboard. It just habbend about 4 times, but didn't happend again since this time ... i will have a eye on it...
Same here. The screen turns off completely but the phone actually works and I can receive or place calls. Called the HTC support and they advised to try if a hard reset will fix it before sending the phone in. The tricky part here is that this issue can not be recreated easy in their service as it happens randomly with me (sometimes it works fine for days). I am still trying to find out what causes this issue on first place. I think it started right after I installed IGO 8 and changed some power settings in the ini file but it kept doing this after I removed it. I also tried to disable the light sensor (the one that turns the screen off when you place the handset to your ear during a call) because it looks exactly like this - screen turns off but the phone works. So, I will give it another week and I will try the hard reset.
What roms do you guys have this issue with? I am using the stock T-Mobile US with HardSPL.

Sorry, forgot to update this thread. I ended up getting a replacement from TMO. I am much happier now that my phone doesn't turn off whenever I close the screen. Get a replacement while you can and ask them nicely if they can overnight it to you. I did.
Actually, this was a software problem in my case - I did the hard reset 2 weeks ago and since then I have not experienced the issue. I am going to start installing my previous programs one by one to find out what caused the problem.

I have the same problem,
The hard reset solve the problem?

It's a damn common problem on Desire. Also i have the same problem. When the phone try to connect to 3G network go in crash. Also i tried more times full wipe, hard reset, RUU. Nothing. The issue is HARDWARE. The only way is the substition og the phone (or of the motherboard).
Good Luck
Same for mine. Sent to HTC for repair
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Thanks Guys, That's what I thought but didn't like to put it through my mind,
One me thing: Do I need to raise a query on htc website? And of course unroot the phone to stock

Yup, same here. I've allready sent my device for repair and now waiting for new device. It's hardware issue.
Regards, X.
My desire kept restarting whilst using open desire and dj Droid Rom. Since I've switched back to official 2.1 stock Rom not rooted my phones not rebooted once. So I'm not sure if its always a hardware related thing. Hmmm

Probably you have bootloader 0.80
Try with stock ROM 1.21.XXXXXX
It's was ok for me
My Desire would soft-reset at least once daily on the stock 2.1 ROM. Switching to Cyanogen has fixed that. Which I was surprised to find.

THANK YOU!
I think someone should put this info into the sticky topic, there is nothing to mention that you need this specific ruu to unroot 0.0 bootloader...
I will test the phone now to see if the reboots are still in th case...
Could anyone who send their phone away tell me how long would take to get the phne fix in uk? can they provide a replacement or up to us to bother?
Ta
I've noticed that mine will reboot constantly after I flash a new ROM.
However, I don't think it's the flashing that is the issue. See after a wipe and flash I usually sign into Google to get sync my contacts and calendar.
Since 2.2 the phone tries to automatically download apps from the market.
If I'm using HSPA (3G) to download while the phone is plugged in and charging I will 100% of the time get constant reboots until I physically remove the battery.
Even then, if I remove the charger and try the phone will keep rebooting. I usually end up having to charge the battery while the phone is off then remove the charger. It will then usually work with no issue or random reboots.
I've tested this when I'm using Wi-Fi - Never a reboot issue.
Also tested using extensive 3G (soon after flash) without charger plugged in. Phone will sometimes (maybe 25% of the time) go into a boot loop with each reboot occurring within a few minutes of each startup.
It's no secret that the phone gets hot when using 3G to download a lot of data. For some reason this is compounded after each flash.
I use syspanel to monitor battery temps and in the situations described above where the phone starts constantly rebooting the temps are around 36c - 38c. I'm not exactly sure because it reboots before I can get accurate temp.
I question syspanel accuracy because it feels bloody hot! Temps are normally usually around 22 - 27c and it feels cool to the touch. Hard to believe 10c can make that much difference.
Could this be a hardware design, like how CPUs will throttle once a certain temp is reached to prevent damage? Or maybe thermal paste (is that even used in phones?) not properly applied to some component on the PCB.
Perhaps others can comment on their battery temps. Sounds like that's the issue if maps and navigation (data + battery intensive) cause reboots.
Also, as mentioned by someone else I can't remember (sorry to the poster) after I update or restore Launcher Pro my battery drain becomes ridiculous (I've lost 100% in 4 hrs). Quick reboot after update or restore solves the drain.
Now the phone is running stock rom and radio,
Tried google maps today, and it only last for about 2 min before reboot, when the phone is in normal usage like calls and texts I never had a reboot,
Must be a overheating components, like you said thermal paste or something.
Tonite i will give them a phone and the courier to pick it up.
Do you think guys is worth to mention about mainboard? that will need to be replace or just mention overheating issues and constant reboots?
Do they provide a replacement unit for the time being?
Thanks all

That's exactly the issue I had - could replicate a reboot within minutes of Google Maps use. I also believe this to be a heat/paste issue, as the unit got incredibly hot (on one occasion almost too hot to pick up).
Mine was replaced as being faulty (with Virgin in the UK) after I recited several forums and a google search to the operative. You might be able to get this with Three if you push for it but Virgin are the only ones I know of actually replacing the handsets (FYI thier callcentre staff seem to know thier stuff).
I will miss my desire Courier will pick it up tomorrow and God knows how long it will take to get it fixed!!
Customer Service was excellent so far, the guy even said that this is actually quite a common issue with Desire( too much power inside such a small device)
Hopefully I'll get a new motherboard!
Thanks guys for all your help! Now is the time to start up OLD grandpa Sony Ericcson for the time being...
Reboot with GPS and Charging
Hi
I have send my desire for repair, because it reboots every time i use navigation and charging at same time. Navigation alone dosn't reboot.
I tried to reinstall, but HTC would let me have the file to try to rewrite the ROM.
I try to times to clear the phone several times, but now i just wait to see if they will find the problem or just rewrite the ROM.

It may be a hardware fault and seens to be a know issue for HTC (read the statements).
Read that thread and you'll see you have do send your Desire to repair/replace.
First of all, I deeply apologize if this kind of issue has been brought up before. But right now I'm in such a nervous wreck that I can barely search for similar topics for help.
Here is what happened. I tried to root my Android Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. 7 because I heard of all the good stories and satisfaction behind it. Shame on me, I really shouldn't have tried to do something like that when I have no experience with that type of stuff. So after following the instructions, I rooted my device. Then when I turned it back on, the first thing I noticed was:
- The startup had the Samsung logo on it, but there was no ''animation"
- The screen became VERY dim
- The colors were all strange
- There was slight flickering of the screen
I then went here because reportedly that will solve the screen issue, but after downloading the recovery file through zip, nothing's changed. I realized that you also need to download the RocketTab3.1.zip, but at this point, I'm so distraught over what's happened to my tablet that all I want is to unroot, and go back to the bright screen, and the way it was, even if it means that all my saved information will be erased.
I even tried to go to settings - reset to factory settings. All my saved info is gone (which at this point, I don't even care), and the tablet is just like how it was when I first received it - except it STILL has the screen problems.
Can someone please, please, help me? If I can get my tablet back to the condition is was before, I'm never going to try to root again. It's just not worth the anxiety I'm feeling right now..

Nevermind! I fixed my tablet by using Odin and a firmwire! Phew, I barely slept last night, and now my peace of mind is back. Sure, I have to reinstall my favorite apps, but you know what? I couldn't care less as long as my beautiful tablet is working as it should again.

Hello,
New to the forum, at least posting have been lurking and reading for years, but this will be my first post.
Mi 10T Pro, stuck in bootloop. I have been trying to get it going again and have been having no luck, so I decided it is time to turn to the pros for some help.
Symptoms:
Bootloops 1 or 2 times to the MIUI logo, then boots to the recovery menu
Not possible to turn of completely, bootloops until battery drains completely
Able to get to the fastboot menu
What I have tried:
I had a suspicion that it was a problem with the power button, so i replaced the ribbon but no improvement (Unless new one is bad also?)
Replaced Battery, no improvements
Tried all the button press combinations to try and do hard reboot and so on
About Device:
Software version: Unknown as the phone broke a long time ago, got a replacement and the phone has been sitting in the drawer...
Phone was never rooted or unlocked in any other way
The phone is open and I could unplug battery or try a new ribbon for the power button (I have a new one on hand)
What I would like to achieve:
Save the data that is on the phone.... This is the main thing I would like to do as there is precious pictures of my young kids and so on....
Get the phone working and use it as an emergency device
Options I think are still available in order of how I would like to attempt them:
Do a software recovery, by installing a stock rom, example: (
)
I don't know what version of rom to download as I don't know what version the phone was on
I don't know if this will work since the bootloader has never been unlocked
Anything else possible before next step?
Reset through the reset menu. and cry over all the lost data (
All suggestions are welcome.
Thank you!
this phone is notorious for needing to be reballed after a few years of use. its a trash phone. join any mi 10T groups in facebook and youll see countless users who had to pay specialist technicians to reball their CPU and Memory chips and even then, they still fail after a few weeks/months.
Thank you for your answer ongkal. So you don't think its worth to try to overwrite the loader? I don't want to have to reball if its a software issue, but will if it comes down to it.
Mainly just want to get the files out, went back to samsung after first phone with xiaomi...
I was just looking at the reball videos on youtube and most of the phones are completely dead, mine still turns on but straight into bootloop. Besides they say it might be due to gaming, which that phone has not seen
