Just got the Desire

Heya, I just got my Desire last week, this is my first Android phone.
I've been following the forums since I found them this monday (or so). And decided I pretty much wanted to root my phone so I can get access to the market, and such.
First of all I wanna know just how easy it is to revert it back to how it was before I messed with it?
And then I'd like to hear what ROM I should use (with reasons), if I just want a pretty clean one, with improvements ofcourse, and an unlocked market and all that?
And if someone can tell me how/what program I can use, to save all my contacts and texts and so?
Thanks
(I did search, but there's just too much info, hope this will stay on-topic and not get confusing. )
Rolling back to 'stock' is easy. You just run an the nbh file which is probably available somewhere on this board, which returns your phone to factory settings - rom, radio, hboot and all.
Your contacts are saved automatically in your google account.
For sms try 'sms backup and restore' from the market.
By the way you posted this in the wrong section. Post in the general section next time. This section is for rom development.
Actually, everyone suggests 'sms backup and restore' but it doesn't backup mms...
I would either go for SpriteBackup or MyBackup
Thanks I don't have any mms atm, so that's not a problem
But what ROM should I be using then? >.<
I suggest you NexTSense 3.2. It's awesome!!

Indeed What does asop mean?
And well, a clean one, but RAM improvements and such are fine
And I like HTC Sense, I think
Unlocked market:
I'm from denmark, so I can't buy apps, I can only download the free ones, and I want to be able to access all of it

strange issue with HD

Hi, i rooted one piece hd and flashed ROM (TRHRHD_v05) on it but strangely after the whole procedure the phone didnt show any languages that this ROM has. I factory set before and after the flashing procedure but still same problem. I have used this ROM previously on other HD phones and never had this problem. I forgot to check the version of the phone before flashing. Any ideas?
someone please help me out..
What is this rom and is it built for the DHD?

[Q] Leedroid or Revolution HD noSense

Hello,
First I wanna say that I'm a noob when it comes to this kinda stuff. I've managed to root my phone and flash a couple of ROMs but that's about it. I was thinking about trying LeeDroid or Revolution HD, but I don't like the Sense UI and have no idea how to get noSense. Some help would be much appreciated!

If you really want to stick Wii LD or ARHD then just flash the no-sense patch as shown in the Rom threads.
Otherwise, what Sergi said.

problem when using numbers in hebrew

so i got a problem with the numbers when im using hebrew
im from israel so i most of the time use hebrew
and for example when i write: "the time is 21:30"
its writing for me: "the time is 12:03"
when im writing in hebrew then some number the numbers are backwards
i use the rom rcmixHd froyo sense 2.2 on my htc dezire
any idea what can i do??
move to GB (2.3) - hebrew support is built-in and this sort of thing doesn't happen.
yea i know that in 2.3 its built in i had it but went back to 2.2
i need to know how to fix it on this rom
this problem exists in native 2.3.4 also, so moving to 2.3 won't help much.

[Q] Latest ARHD v CM10.3

Hi - forgive me if this has been covered already.
About 12/18 months ago I flashed a version of AR onto my HTC One X - absolutely brilliant! Thing that impressed me the most was the battery life which more than doubled. Well, before Christmas I installed CM10.2 - it took a while to figure out where I was going wrong, and did have a bit of help from one or two people on here, thank you very much.
However, I can practically watch my battery drain now. So I have a couple of questions please...
Firstly, I've plaid with with the performance tweaks but they don't seem to do a great deal. I've restricted my CPU speed and a couple of other mods but it doesn't seem to do a great deal. Is there anything else I can do so that my battery lasts past midday?
Secondly I have had to freeze Theme Provider using Titanium Backup because I got that annoying pop up window after installing/uninstalling a theme. Is there a simple way of getting this back?
Finally (I know I said a couple of questions - sorry), if I wanted to revert back to ARHD, all the ROM's for seem to be for 4.2 or below only, yet I have 4.3.1. Is this right? If not, could somebody point me in the right direction please?
Many thanks in advance
Battery life sense vs aosp has been discussed many times, read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543222
4.2.2 is the latest and final release by HTC, sadly there will be no more official updates.

Thanks for the info - this site is huge, you could spend hours reading through all the threads.
But why does my phone say 'Android Version 4.3.1' if 4.2.2 is the final

last official from htc is 4.2.2
It says 4.3.1 because you are on a custom rom. For instance there are now aosp roms (cm11).that's android 4.4 ...... Sense roms are indeed up to 4.2.2 and not beyond that.

I see, thanks. So, to go back to installing the latest version of Android Revolution isn't just as simple as getting the latest ROM for your mobile phone then?
If you want a custom sense 5 rom then i suggest to use philz touch recovery 5.15 and install a clean new sense 5 rom. If you want to go back to 100% stock rom you need a nandroid backup of the stock rom.
