Ok so ive had my mytouch since it has came out. Idk if that means anything or relates to the post but onto my problem. When i slide my mytouch open at a certain point the screen flickers and dispositions itself, but if i do slow enough the screen will go blank and i would have to turn my screen bak on. I will try to attack a video link to show u guys what it does. How do i fix D;

If it IS a ribbon... The only thing I could think of to do without opening it would be to shake it a bunch, haha... and I don't think that would work too well.
You tried searching this area of the forums for anything similar? I might look into this too, although I'm not having that problem. I hope it's something that can be easily fixed though.
Yeah sounds like hardware failure to me. If you can, get a warranty replacement, if not, try to replace the ribbon cable yourself, following guides. If not that, you're screwed

basically i would recommend that u avoid doing what u did in the vid lol dont slide it open and close it back that many times unless u need to or u are gonna get a black screen that wont come back on... thats the ribbon, flex or whatever u want to call it. mine broke like a month ago and u cant just buy it, u cant find it anywhere i had to buy a broken slide on ebay and get the ribbon from it. if u can get a replacement go for it

Apparently you had the same problem i did before. I was never able to fix it but i got a warranty replacement from t-mobile. check out this thread that i posted when that happened. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849722
edit: this is probably a problem for the first slides that came out? becuase i also got mine as soon as it came out
Actually when I had the same problem with yours, what I did was I have it checked. The store was so grateful that they had it replaced. They told me that it was the flex. If you don't have any warranty, you have no choice but to open it. maybe, just maybe it is the flex or ribbons.

Sorry to be off topic, but is that really 921 mhz you're running, with one of dumfuq's test kernels? I couldn't even get 864 to be stable. Under 100% load 864 sometimes freezes for me. Do you have one of the newer slides or something?

Yea this is a brand new slide (new version w/ the slash on the zero) (got it a few weeks ago) I was pretty surprised myself because my old slide was only stable at 844. 921 freezes only once or 2x a day, 902 is 100% stable, but to get a lil back on topic, this is one reason to get a replacement, cuz u mite get a brand new lucky phone haha

Lucky. I have a slash through mine too but it's only stable to 844. Mostly stable on 864, but it freezes sometimes. Probably because this is my friends old phone that he spilled water on. He gave it to me because it started working again, aside from the camera, which I don't care about, and he already had gotten a replacement vibrant. Oh well. 844 is better than stock 600
But yeah if you can OP, get a warranty/insurance replacement to avoid the manual disassembly and such.

Same here dude my dads the one that actually talked 2 the tmobile people haha, but I'm pretty sure all he did was tell the problem to t-mobile (made a pretty legit reason) and just asked if a warranty replacement was possible. T-mobile seems to be pretty easy about it

call 1800-tmobile on a phone other than your cell and go through the prompts to get to customer service. They'll ask a few questions about your phone and then mail you a new one, things like is your water spot red, etc.

What should I do??? I don't have warranty but could I take it to T-mobile or somethin?
Does the backlight turn on with a black screen or does the screen not even power on at all? If you rooted it then you technically voided your warranty. Unless you can find a way to unroot your phone.
However, if the screen really isn't working then tmobile probably won't be able to tell, they'll just give you a new one. Its worth a shot.

The screen doesn't power on at all XO, only the front lights and the vibration turn on when the power button is pressed.

My guess with my limited knowledge on how the Slide is actually built on the inside would be that a connector became loose or broken or something, but it could be numerous things.
Anyway, if it doesn't turn on at all, chances are T-mobile won't think twice about it and just send you a new one, as long as you are within the one year warranty period. If they figure out that you voided your warranty they won't charge you for it unless you authorize them to, so it's worth a shot, you've got nothing to lose since your phone doesn't work anyway at the moment. I would just send it in if I were you.

ok, so i finally bricked my phone .. and i need to get a replacement phone.
the impression i always got from the forums was that i just go to the Spring store and ask for a replacement, and show'em that my phone is "broken".. today i went in and they gave me a number to call (888.211.4727) and when i called/explained it.. they said i'd have to pay "only" $100 for the replacement since i had the protection plan...
is that how it works?? is there a way to get my phone replaced for free? i guess i'm in shock bc that's how i thought it worked for several other members here.
any suggestions?
Try a different store. Sometimes other stores don't care.

do you have any suggestions on what to say? called sprint and they were just saying "we can't do anything about it Asurion is who does our insurance, blah blah blah"
does anyone have a experience (victories) getting their bricks replaced for free?
Tell them you need to do a warranty replacement. Not an insurance replacement. They might refer you to samsung not sure how sprint handles that stuff these days.
cd's or tapes?
My screen stopped working when I touched it and I had a crack in the plastic around the screen. At first the Sprint tech said the screen stopped working because of the crack in the plastic whih, according to him, is the accelerometer. I didn't get pissed. I just told him that the screen stopped working before that and if he put another accelerometer on it, the screen still wouldn't work. I ended up getting everything replaced except my motherboard so I basically have a new phone with original motherboard so I know what overclock/undervolt will work. I would take it to another store and be nice and play dumb. It worked for me and I didn't pay 1 cent.

Did you try
1)taking battery out.
2) plug in USB
3) hold keypad "1" and "power"
(note this process has battery out of phone entire time.)
i have an interesting update...
i dug around more posts on the forum -- and learned to pull the sdcard out, AND the battery... left it out a lil bit... now it'll be back into download mode, although it seems my odin attempts have been failing so far (the screen turned all yellow almost immediately on the first attempt... now this second attempt has gone a lil further and the screen just turned all blue)..
i think this is progress?
UPDATE!!! WOW!!!
i just re-incarnated my phone. i almost want to cry. for real!!
Now I'm curious what you guys would do... do you think my phone's suffered some hardware damage from all that (and therefore should play it safe).. or do you think it's safe to root, flash srf all the way up and try to flash genocide1.1final again?
i almost feel like i don't fear bricks any longer LOL
I had almost the exact same thing happen to my phone as you. The old vision kernel bricked my phone, took it into the sprint store and they were going to replace it but it was going to take about 4 days to do so. I screwed around with it and finally got it into download mode after a while.
I don't think there is any problem with you running everything just the way you have been. I can't see how there could have been any hardware damage unless you stepped on it or dropped it a long way or something. I would say its safe to go ahead and root it and continue to have fun with it.

I don't recall anyone bricking on Genocide or Twilight Zone. 99% of the time you can Odin back to stock. It only takes 3 min 30 seconds. I would say stay rooted and have fun. I was nervous for a bit but I can't see myself going back to stock

actually, what started me down this spiral today was trying to install the Genocide1.1final kernel.. i posted a question in there but haven't gotten a response yet -- i'm going to post/copy it here and just hope that i'm not violating any rules by doing so...

I read through all the posts since 6/15 and haven't seen anyone post this issue... wondering if anyone had insights?
i was running srf1.1.1 with genocide1.0...
did a backup, and wiped cache/dalvik x3 and flashed genocide1.1final. then when i rebooted it stayed on the samsung startup screen for too long... kind of reminds me of when i tried to flash cwm3.0.2.5
so i pulled battery, and 3fingered into cwm. noticed it was still orange (3.0.0.6) -- restored my nandroid, rebooted... and i'm still getting stuck on the samsung startup screen.
i hate think this but i'll probably have to Odin back to stock and build my way back up to srf1.1.1 and then restore..
any ideas what went wrong? i really want to try on this kernel but i don't want to go through that whole cycle again!

you possibly had a bad flash of the genocide 1.1 kernel. or maybe even a bad dl. i would say re-download the .zip for the genocide 1.1 and try again. i am running srf 1.1.1 with genocide 1.1. imo one of the best rom/kernel combos out here.
puhahahaa... i'm back w srf1.1.1 and now have genocide1.1final running... for some reason when i 3finger salute i still get cwm3.0.0.6 tho -- don't know if i'm doing it wrong??
Igot my phone from Radio Shack and got their ins. Paid $100.
Up front and am covered with no deductable for a yr. I've found that insuring through them was a better way to go.

So my Inc has a weird power button issue. If I slightly touch the button it acts as though I pushed it. My screen comes on a lot due to it.
Ive tried using compressedair to clean out the button area but that's no good. Any way I can fix this without cracking it open?

Yep black tie coverage. Thats what I decided, I went and waited at best buy for 3 hours today and wound up with a crappy loaner phone (LG Vortex 2.2.2).
Hopefully in a few days I will get the faux upgrade but it is entirely possible that Ill just get a refurb inc.
I will miss the Inc if they don't get me another one.

SCIENCE!!!
Nah, it froze up after user "t" on voxer added me as a friend(most likely a fake hacker account). After pulling the battery it locks up on the HTC boot screen. when booted into recovery it seems the system and cache partitions will no longer mount. Verizon let me upgrade(as i was out of insurance replacements) early to a rezound(which appears to be following a similar S-OFF situation-whiny impatient do-nothings crying foul over the wait and then of course the wait itself)
anywho im willing to give it to anyone interested in research and development. you just have to pay shipping(if its even worth it lol). If no one wants its just gonna get chucked.
BTW-off topic but whilst i wait for my rezound to come in the mail a friends letting me use a motorola photon on his sprint account and that phone sucks. the camera button sticks(its like 2 weeks old)and it freezes every so often.
You can probably still save it. Do you have adb set up?
yeah but everytime i try to flash a new recovery or anything at all for that matter(including trying NANDROID restores)it freezes and i get a failed message in adb and fastboot. something along the line of "to many reads" or something.
Did you try unrooting?
well its on GB(Virtuous Affinity), and from what ive read it has to be on froyo to unroot, and without being able to flash anything i kind of...cant
after reading this-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393538
it would seem it wasnt a hacker, but the tiniest drop of coka cola that fell on the front speaker grill, the voxer user thing could have just been a coincidance as this guys phone seems to be doing the exact same thing.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/incredible-2-rooting-roms-hacks/120950-guide-unroot-revolutionary-incredible-2-a.html
so.. how much for shipping??
I don't think i can save it but i hate to see if just thrown away
yep, even flashing using the pg32img method causes it to freeze, but ive editted my last post right at the same time you posted this so im fairly sure its useless to everyone now, but if someone wants a fancy paperweight its still up for grabs
and andy-shouldnt be much- it weighs almost nothing and with USPS flat rate shipping boxes maybe like 10$, ill take it by the ups store tomorrow when i go to pick up a case for my rezound(theyre right next to each other).
theres one thing im not-nostalgic except for the inc1 which was a soldier. it brought a tear to my eye when i found it dead.but for saving it, if it is a moisture problem, here in Birmingham(al not UK) we have smart hpone repair places all over the place, the only reason i didnt take it to one of those is verizon went way out of their way to ensure i wouldnt switch to sprint(which i threatened to do)

yeah that why im thinking it was that tiny drop of coke that slid down the side of the can a drip right into the front speaker grill(note to self-dont leave the phone in your lap whilst drinking something)tried to blow it out, but probably just blew it further in.
edit:because it was only a drop and not much you can have it for your fiance, then take it to a smart phone repair shop. I dont know what the prices are around you, but here its only like 95$ to clean it out(if the screen has moisture damage they replace it for a hell of alot more, but this ones fine), being that its probably that drop causing a small short. I bet it was that Carnivore got into your phone and devoured itself from within the motherboard...
Hey guys!
On friday afternoon, i believe i killed my 3 month old baby. I got furious at something, and threw the phone onto my desk (I'm 190cm 6'3, desk is about 70cm above ground, you do the maths) and when i picked the phone up...
It looked fine.
I tried unlocking it, nothing would come up other than a black screen lighting up, but the sounds touch etc it works fine. Even the digitizer seems fine, odd enough.
So practically the inner LCD is dead, and unfortunately since i bought the device from US and went back to my homecountry, that screen replacement thing doesnt work out for me. Also unfortunately HTC is a complete asshat and for a reason no one knows, decided to not make any authorized services in the country, and i dont want to trust some dude downtown which can "fix my phone for 450tl" (thats a big deal of money where the minimum wage is 900tl per month) that doesnt even have a store but a stand.
Since then im using my old S3, which shared the same faith; furious throws ended up with inner lcd being cracked. Got it replaced from dealer, but ever since its 3G module does not work and oddly enough the guys there were like "your phone was rooted its out of warranty if anything relating mobo happens" before even accepting payment; 3 days later hte phone started acting up and 3G failed.
Anyway to the actual question, how hard are these screens to change? Also, any good sellers on fleabay? I talked with a few phone guys I know and they agreed to change it if i provide the screen, but honestly i dont know what to do, to sell this phone and get an iPhone (or a S5 because waterproof) or to somehow get this repaired? I'm fairly pissed off that i cant get a damn phone repaired which is also sold and imported into the country...
Also kinda unrelated but might anyone know why the 3G doesnt work? I've since then unrooted the phone and reverted back to stock rom but its still not working...
Maybe this will get you an idea: http://goo.gl/nBvaLz
Never done it myself tho with an m8. My DHD and OneX have been fully disassembled without problems tho to replace almost everything. [emoji41]
Look for disassembly videos online and order a new screen\digitizer assembly form ebay (dont attempt to separate the glass from the screen).
It takes patience and some steady hands, but it is possible to change the assembly.

The M8 has a repairability score of 2/10. I bent my back cover, and many cell repair shops refused to replace it.
You don't want to take this on by yourself. Check out the tear down at ifixit.com.
Just did the work on a M7, it should not be all that different. Though, I have not tried it myself on my M8.

Lol, you can leave it be and just buy a new one as well, yeah. The easy way....
imo 2/10 means it's repairable (my glass is half full). I would look for a cheap dead-mobo or a hard-bricked phone (with a working screen , that is)
^This guy
As long as you cant use it, why not try?

Hey guys!
On friday afternoon, i believe i killed my 3 month old baby. I got furious at something, and threw the phone onto my desk (I'm 190cm 6'3, desk is about 70cm above ground, you do the maths) and when i picked the phone up...
It looked fine.

And the next time a girl breaks up with you - don't take it out at you phone, just hit a pillow.
I'm going to make the hotspot stay open 24/7, because S3 doesnt have mobile network, and since I'm paying why not actually use it?
Also, odd enough one service quoted me 330TL while another said 450TL (both in far away cities) when one in my city asked 400TL...
