Hello,
I test my Defy few days. Today I found first problem. I was looking at photos taken with Defy on my PC and I noticed really strong jpg compression. I went through Camera Settings and I couldn't find any option to change photo quality. What's strange this option is probably available for US users, anyway it's mentioned in manual: img683.imageshack.us/img683/7946/missingquality.jpg
In my setting I can see:
Picture Resolution
Video Resolution
Quick upload album
Exposure
Preview Time
Capture Tone
That's all. Advanced Settings menu is missing. Could you help me solve this problem?
It affect photos very strong. It's easy to find jpg arifacts at photos, sharpness is also spoiled by it.
Average size of 5MP photo from Defy is 350kB while average photo from 6MP Nikon D50 is 2.5MB
so it shows how strong is compression.
Regards
Well, we are all in the same boat, it seems. I have a T-Mobile branded USA model and these settings are absent as well.
Speaking of bugs, and there are many, the one that really irritates me is that even though network data is turned off (and WiFi is set to on and preferred), upon reboot the phone still activates network data, i.e. it ignores the setting. Every time I reboot the setting needs to be toggled on and off for it to be off.

Hi All,
I've noticed that the quality of the images taken by the camera on the BA are pretty crappy as is. I just got my BA and wanted to confirm with the other folks out there using this unit whether they see similar image quality or if mine has some issues with it. Now, I do realize that being an "all in one" device, I cannot expect a super high quality image from the camera on the BA. However, I'm comparing it to a similar resolution image taken from my Zire72. If I take the image from the BA and photoshop it a bit by blurring it, it seems to get much better. The video mode is okay in decent lighting since the motion blur takes care of the noise. But for now, I'm using photoshop. I've also found an application for the BA that has a bunch of filters including blur so I can fix up the image right on the BA. However, it'd be nice not to have to post process it if there was any way to do so.
ALSO,
My volume slider button seems to be defective. It is really loose and it does not increase/decrease the volume up or down when used. It doesn't activate anything on the BA screen either. The only purpose it serves is that of a baby rattle. What I wanted to know was if this was a common thing and whether it could be fixed. Also wanted to find out if this feature could be enabled/disabled somewhere since it may be disabled which is why its not working. (I checked under settings/buttons but it didnt look like it was disabled)
What I'm trying to find out is whether the unit I have just bought is defective and if I should be returning it for another one. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Hello There,
I believe the quickest solution to your problem is to put Adjust the sharpness on your BA to 0, the only problem is that the setting resets itself after a soft-reset. There is a registry trick available to save the problem permanently. If you use a program such as Resco File Explorer, you will be able to set the camera settings to the desired conditions. Once done, you can export the registry to a file, then save it in \Windows\Startup folder
Hope this helps

Hey
I am using the rooted standard froyo and since i upgraded to it im noticing that any photos i take with the flash ON come out green. very very green. If it take the photo without the flash its fine. Ive tested this in several different places under several different light sources and the pic always comes out green when i have the flash on. I terms of settings, i can confirm brightness, contrast, sharpness and saturation are all set to 0, and effect is set to none. White bal and ISO = auto and all the rest of the settings are also default i beleive
Does anyone know why this is happening? It makes my camera unusable :s
Do you use a rooted or stock ROM? For this rooted Rom there is a fix in the first post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741775
I experienced this issue *once* before the Froyo update with the video recorder: half of the video ended up bright green. It happened one time after the update as well, but with the regular camera. No idea why, bizarre behavior
This is hilarious.
Somewhere in Japan, An HTC developer has won 10,000 Yen from his colleagues for this.
Kids is a week I try to solve all the way! We expose the problem.
Basically, the wave in question was purchased with the firmware already installed and KA1 them since there were no problems whatsoever. I decided to put the JID and I noticed that the pictures were very blurry. So I decide to go through official KA1 JH3 JI1 full and lite and then I put the KA1 Kies.
Everything ok, phone ready. Retry the camera and know the kind of fault of blurry photos. I go through the secret menu to control the camera's firmware in the phone and see that there is a new version of firmware is installed but the old one. To update the firmware of the camera and everything goes well. I open the camera and this time the photos are good but appeared two other problems:
- When I select "macro" in the right toolbar, the focus does not change and I have to do it manually focus the camera key. I can also do macros, but I have to do to focus myself with the key. Before hand, had a sort of "pre-fire" just select the macro function.
- If I flash pictures during the focus light is as strong as ever, but it has just shot a light intensity as low as if at the time of the shooting received little voltage to light.
Afflicted with these two problems by Multiloader try again in vain to call JID. Did not change anything and so I went KA1 Journal. I tried to follow the recovery process with the camera driver that is driving in relief (fix error camera) but just gave me the opening "camera error" and therefore ripristinai backups of my driver.
I do not know what to do, give me a hand. I know they are problems to be nothing, but after spending 300 euro stayed there this lily if I can not fix probably sell it.
I've finally reached a point where my gallery issues are driving me nuts. Google makes it seem like I'm the only person in the world with this issue to top it off. The issue I am experiencing is that pictures that I download from the internet go wherever they want in my gallery. For instance (its not every time, but too often), if I download a picture (that contains no exif data) from a website, instead of showing up in "all downloads", it goes into "camera shots" album. Then within camera shots, the actual pictures taken with the phone camera start way in the middle of the album, which is annoying if you have over 1000+ photos. There seems to be no way to order the pictures there by time/date that I have found.
Then comes the issue when I swipe over to timeline. Changing the order there makes no difference to the display of pictures. If I set it to month, the first picture might show Nov or it might show the current month of July. Change it to day, etc, same thing. A picture I've just taken or downloaded might be at the bottom of the timeline or in the middle despite the setting.
I don't want to believe that such things were overlooked during testing by HTC or either Tmo, but it seems like that. Could I indeed be alone in experiencing this, or is there something I am overlooking in the settings?
Hello,
I am relatively new in the Samsung world. Currently, I own a S20U 5G phone, with latest Android (G988BXXU6DUB5)
I have several questions, just put them in a list not to create a lot of threads. I would be really grateful if you could share advice/your experience.
I've noticed some clicking sound when I exit my Camera app and also when I open Settings for this app inside of it. Is it ok? I bet it is somehow related to the lens.
I've also read some articles regarding the autofocus issues. Are those solved? For me it seems to work decently fine, but I am not sure what are the best settings, should I keep tracking autofocus turned of or on.
Also, I've noticed that if I do some AF test with bringing hand relatively close (20cm), and on the background there are some objects contrasting with the background, some grey squares are popping around them and focus seems to be jumping to them randomly. Did anyone notice the same thing? What are those grey squares?
The battery. My SoT is around 4.5-6hrs, on LTE mostly with some calls, a lot of FB and messenger. I've noticed that the battery likes to drop quickly from 100%. Like if after I start using it on 100%, it could drop to 97% during 10-15 minutes of active usage. Then it is going slower, in a normal pace. Is you experience similar?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.
Sorry if questions seem newbie ones, I just need some advice.
1. Yes it's just the camera sensors locking AF
2. AF was vastly improved with updates, there seems to be no issue with it now
3. Grey squares are usually the camera AI trying to find faces to focus on, so anything that might look a bit like a face to the AI it will try locking onto
4. Normal for Samsung devices to lose a few % very quickly, and your SOT time is fine

Hello, thanks for your answers, it is much clearer now.
I've noticed an odd thing about this specific feature, for example, if my child is moving, it tries to lock onto face with a grey square and if I start shooting, often I get a message "this photo might be blurred" or similar, and it is indeed blurred. Maybe you know how to combat this, if possible? Maybe some specific camera settings?

For moving subjects it's best to use Pro camera mode (Tap the "More" button under the view finder > Pro Mode
Set the shutter speed low as possible while still allowing enough light in, you can raise the ISO to get more light without increasing shutter speed (At the expense of noise depending how high you set it), that way you get a lot less blurring on the moving subject, in this case your child
The blurring occurs if the subject moves while the shutter is open collecting light, so the less time it is open, the less distance the subject will have moved, thus less blur
Works best in good light such as sunlight, then you don't need ISO too high and can drop shutter time right down while still getting good exposure
There is also a setting for Auto camera mode in the camera's main settings called "Tracking Auto-focus" which once you tap the screen to focus on a subject, regardless of where it moves to, it should remain in focus
