[Q] Titanium Backup: move to SD - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

I tried using Titanium Backup (TB) to move some of my apps to the internal SD, and even though it said it did it, it didn't. I tried it several times, and even rebooted afterwards, to no avail. Has anyone had success with TB? Running JL2 on a rooted and lagfixed I9000M.

instead of that try using manage applications.. each app has an option there to move to sd

You might need a special kernel. That kernel does not exist for sgs. Its more of a hack for HTC pre Froyo devices which doesn't have app2sd. Its old hack that isn't needed or supported on sgs

That doesn't work either: "Failed to move application. Not enough memory"
What up with that?
Again, running JL2 on a rooted and lagfixed I9000M.

I have the same issue.. I am using this for APPS that are NOT DESIGNED by the author to move to SD. By that I mean FROYO 2.2 doe not give the option but you can force them with TB and they run off the SD fine. all of a sudden it stopped working this past week. I thought it was the kernel I installed BUT I flashed back to the stock kernel that was working and that option does exactly what is described in the first post. Any ideas how to fix?

Funny thing is that I am getting the "Failed to move application. Not enough memory" error for applications for which you're supposed to be able to move without forcing them with TB.

Can't Back Up Apps HELP!

I've been trying to use MyBackUP Pro to backup my apps but it won't work. It just says at the top "Could not open DB for market links." and "Android Market link was not found." next to each app. Help please!
P.S. My data backs up fine, it's just my Apps that won't.
What rom are you on? Is the market working for you? If the market isnt working then, there is your problem. You need to install the gapps file that is wondering around in all the CM6 posts. Also have you tried using titanium back up? Personaly backing up apps isnt a big issue. I have an apps list on my laptop because when ever I flash a new rom I like to freshly re-install my apps so that there is no possible issues with the rom and the app. Backing up apps is over rated lol, just saying.
That's another problem. I don't think I'm rooted anymore (which is why I want to back up so I can root). A few weeks ago my internet stopped working completely (I was using the Froyo fresh rom) so I updated to Froyo update (2.0.3 or whatever) OTA. I'm not sure whether or not I lost root because MyBackUp Pro says I'm rooted but Titanium says I'm not. And my market works fine.
Dont you have to be rooted to do a nand back up or flash? I know there is something you can type in compand prompt to se if you are rooted.
Open your terminal and type in SU and if a $ comes up you are rooted. Ithink thats right.
I also am hving the same problem....I am stuck in unrooted/titanium...clockworkmod says I am unrooted....but i can't get to recovery or nandroid back up.....really annoying, because I bought My Backup Pro....and it says "Could not open DB for Market links" so each app say's "Android market link was not found".
I can access the market fine! I used "Appinstaller" (also uninstaller/appsaver) from market...It appears to back them up on my SD card....but what it wrong that I am stuck here....someone said I have to wait until someone comes up with a way to unroot froyo 2.2?
Thanks!!

Apps fail to install

Ever since I upgraded my Desire to stock Froyo from Telus, some apps I've tried to install are failing. It just says that the installation was unsuccessful. I currently have 24mb of internal space, and 6.4gb of SD card space.
Any ideas why this is happening? It's really starting to bug me.
Ditto
Apologies for posting in the Desire thread, however my unrooted HTC Incredible with 2.2 is having the same issues. Apps will download and attempt to install, only to fail.

what apps are failing to install?
Any app really. I tried to upgrade trillian, and it was failing to work. I don't know why, but once I actually uninstalled what was already on my phone, it started working again. Same thing with Google Translate app.

are you using apps2sd? myabe your ext partition is full
My apps install to my phone by default, then I use App 2 SD to move it. I currently have 6gb of free external space.
Hmm ok. I notced that they fail to update already isntall apps if the App is on my SD card.
Any solutions to that?
I had this with LeeDrOiD, you will need root and S=Off, remove the smdl2tmp1.ascec in: /mnt/secure/asec/smdl2tmp1.asec.
As always, do a nandroid backup.

Just flashed CM6, few issues..

I have CM6 and I have a few issues and questions. First, I recovered by backup with Titanium after I flashed CM6 and Gapps. Before I had almost all of my apps on my SD card and everything worked fine. When I restored, everything was placed on the phone. A few apps weren't even showing up under my downloads in the market app. I then moved everything back to my sd card and apps with shortcuts updated, but widgets and swype are not showing up, even after moving them back to the phone.
How do I get the new version of android market for CM6? I tried downloading an app through the markets site on my computer but it did not download, or get forwarded to my phone, for some reason.
Which kernel should I use to overclock? Ive read a few posts and comments about a few kernels and some apparently cause more bugs and issues.
Thank you.
EDIT: Ive managed to find solutions to most of my issues. The only problem I'm having now is apps not installing from the Market website. Im using CM6 and flashed 2.2.11 of the market app to my phone. Whenever I hit install on the site it claims to download but nothing is reaching my phone.
That happened to me the only solution i found for mine was formating the sd card. First you should try to fix-permissions n then reboot if that dosent work id suggest backing up your sd data on ur comp n formating

[Q] Can install/update maximum of two apps at a time, then no more

Posted this thread a couple of days ago, kinda the same issues, kinda not. Enough that I think it warrants a new thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948712
I can install/update a maximum of two apps. After that any others that were downloading simultaneously will just get stuck in that un-cancelable "installing" state. If I only downloaded/updated two apps then no others will download update until I follow my "solution" on the thread mentioned above.
Any ideas?
backup your apps with titanium, try a new rom, see if another gives you problems, if it does then restore the one you have now, if its fixed with another rom then restore your backups and enjoy a new rom

I backup apps and data regularly with Titanium. I use the Stock 2.2, rooted, S-Off. "Try another rom" is not a solution.
Coupled with the issues you had on the other thread -- have you considered that you might have a problem with your SD card? If you remove the card entirely and try to install more than two or three applications, does it still occur? I think you also said something about having a large amount of programs already installed. I don't know if the large number of applications can cause any types of market issues.

SD card has been tested and tested again for errors and issues. There are none.
However you are correct about the removal of the sd card. I removed it and installed 5 apps in quick succession. All were downloading at the same time and installed without problems.
Also the issue I was having in the previous thread is back and the solution I posted no longer works.
That's really strange. I'd guess your phone doesn't like the card. Have you applied the SD card speed tweaks that have been going around? Maybe using different values may help.

Backup only the irreplaceable things from it sdcard (pics/video/music).
Try wiping it delvik cache. That helped me with installation issues.
Id also format it sdcard for safety.

Dalvik was wiped regularly as I was looking for a solution. Tried the backup and format earlier today as well.
Tried deleting the android.secure and no go also.
Have you tried wiping your cache, and clearing market cache and data from settings/applications?

Several times.
What rom are you running
Sent from the XDA app.
If it works okay with your SD card removed, it's going to be an issue with the card, even if you haven't been able to find one otherwise. If you have another card around, try to put that one in and see if it works.

Root issues HTC Desire

Hi all, hope this is in the right section.
I rooted my Desire last night using unRevoked 3.3 with the intention of removing all the bloatware on my phone and forcing most of the apps onto the sd card.
My phone seems to have rooted fine, i have the Superuser Permissions application on there, and Titanium backup pro seems to be working too.
Now when i use Titanium backup to try and remove programs such as Stocks, News and Weather, News etc... I click on the app in the list, click un-install and then it tells me its uninstalled. However the apps still appear in my menu and are still there following a reboot. Ive also tried another method using Super Manager and that doesent seem to work either. The apps are still there following them being 'uninstalled'.
Also, similar situation with the SD card, i downloaded Move2SD enabler and that doesent seem to let me move certain apps like Maps, Facebook and others.
Any idea where im going wrong? Im on stock 2.2. My phone is in debug usb mode too.
Any help would be great.
Cheers
The apps you want to remove/move are system apps in stock roms. So you cannot do such things, because you are not s-off. But you might be able to do the things you want with adb:

Or just delete specified .apk's from the .zip file before flashing.

He did not flash a rom. He is just using stock rom. There is nothing to delete from a zip file, because there is no zip file he wants to flash.
Then what i suggest is flashing custom ROM and customize it just how you like, you wont need to S-OFF. (which is much more risky than flashing a ROM)
What i would also try is application called "SystemAppRemover", i'm using it for removing all the system bloatware which you mentioned, but im S-OFF so i cannot guarantee it will work.

Maybe he wants to stay with stock rom? If he wants to flash custom rom, I guess he would have asked for it.
To remove system apps in running system with an app, you have to be s-off.

It was just a clue, had nothing to do with knowledge.
Nevertheless, we should stop filling this thread with our senseless discussion.
haha thanks for the responses guys!
ive been looking at all the custom roms and whilst most of them look pretty cool, im quite happy with whats already on there at the moment, im just bored of seeing my phone telling me i dont have enough internal space etc... so i wanted to root and move as many apps onto the sd card as possible and delete all the unwanted stuff that im constantly closing in taskiller.
i did read something about putting the phone into s-off mode, i guess this is the way to go in regards to deleting the unwanted system apps?
also i believe that i cannot move facebook or google maps onto the sd card, am i correct?
Best option is flashing custom ROM, you could remove any apps you want from the flashable .zip file, and give you an unlimited storage for apps - A2SD. (well limited by SD Card capacity)
You can also S-OFF and remove apps you dont want, but it will barely help as you will probably still run with "low internal storage" errors at some point.
Also with stock ROM you are running, most apps wont be able to move onto SD anyways.
There are custom rom's based on Froyo 2.2 if you like it.
i guess i will look into flashing a ROM. i didnt really want to do that as i didnt want to have to reinstall everything etc... but i guess its the only way i will be satisifed lol.
Just make backup with Titanium Backup and then restore it.
