Can't Back Up Apps HELP! - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to use MyBackUP Pro to backup my apps but it won't work. It just says at the top "Could not open DB for market links." and "Android Market link was not found." next to each app. Help please!
P.S. My data backs up fine, it's just my Apps that won't.

What rom are you on? Is the market working for you? If the market isnt working then, there is your problem. You need to install the gapps file that is wondering around in all the CM6 posts. Also have you tried using titanium back up? Personaly backing up apps isnt a big issue. I have an apps list on my laptop because when ever I flash a new rom I like to freshly re-install my apps so that there is no possible issues with the rom and the app. Backing up apps is over rated lol, just saying.

That's another problem. I don't think I'm rooted anymore (which is why I want to back up so I can root). A few weeks ago my internet stopped working completely (I was using the Froyo fresh rom) so I updated to Froyo update (2.0.3 or whatever) OTA. I'm not sure whether or not I lost root because MyBackUp Pro says I'm rooted but Titanium says I'm not. And my market works fine.

Dont you have to be rooted to do a nand back up or flash? I know there is something you can type in compand prompt to se if you are rooted.
Open your terminal and type in SU and if a $ comes up you are rooted. Ithink thats right.

I also am hving the same problem....I am stuck in unrooted/titanium...clockworkmod says I am unrooted....but i can't get to recovery or nandroid back up.....really annoying, because I bought My Backup Pro....and it says "Could not open DB for Market links" so each app say's "Android market link was not found".
I can access the market fine! I used "Appinstaller" (also uninstaller/appsaver) from market...It appears to back them up on my SD card....but what it wrong that I am stuck here....someone said I have to wait until someone comes up with a way to unroot froyo 2.2?
Thanks!!

Missing Apps from Market

I've an Evo which I had previously rooted and loaded fresh 0.3. I am waiting on Sprint to get me a replacement phone so I restored my NAND backup so that I would have something close to stock to return. Funny thing though, since I restored, I was looking to put a couple of paid apps back on the phone, namely SlingPlayer and WeatherBug Elite, however they don't appear in a search of the market anymore. Download AppBrain which does locate these apps, however when I try to load them, it fails.
So I'm confused, are these applications really unavailable or is there something with my phone which won't let me see them? How can I tell?

I dont think you are supposed to share NAND across phones. Maybe some certificate now fails to match your hardware, and is blocking these market apps.
No I restored on the same phone in preparation for returning my existing phone for a replacement so indeed I restored my NAND backup to the same phone.
Run RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe
It will wipe your phone, but take you back to 100% stock. That is the original rom. Then you can see if market works.
I'm experiencing the same thing after doing the SimpleRoot for the OTA. I use the mobile banking and TV.com apps a lot and I can no longer get them in the market.
My wifes phone is Stock and she is not having this issue. Iin the fewest words, HELP!?!

[Q] Removed Bloatware, what happens when i need to update

The tread says it all, So I rooted my phone and uninstalled amazon mp3 and city id via titanium backup. What will happen when I go to update in the future. Is there a way to add these applications back without doing any flashing?
What are my options to be able to update via OTA without having any issues?
I have tried moving the cityid.apk to the system/app folder and installed it from there, but it just installed as a normal application that can be removed.. I figured that I need to install it as a system application. I now know that I should have just renamed them.
Thanks

Amazon MP3 is in the Market. You should have rooted, used ROM Manager to back up your system, and then removed bloat. Most ROM's have these items removed, some still use CityID or another version that does the same thing.
My suggestion is if you are rooted, you can backup your apps and such, just run another ROM.
I couldn't find CityID in the Market, but various ROM postings may have the apk for download if you wanted to re-add it. I would check those postings to see if it is listed there, and make a directory to move the files to if you think you may need them again! Prevents headaches, especially if they are needed due to corruption or something weird.
Correct me if I am wrong, the only reason I wanted to restore these applications was so I could update when honeycomb or whatever the new Update is going to be.
With that being said, could I just downgrade my phone using the PB31IMG.zip , that would wipe everything out.. removing root, and it would bring back original files that were on phone ( city id etc.) then the phone would automatically update itself over the air? problem solved?
You could just run ruu on it if I'm not wrong
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Well now I am really confused, the cityid.apk file just randomly showed back up in the browser... so i went and looked and it says it's a system app and wont let me uninstall it now... haha... this is so weird, so now I just need to find the original amazon mp3 then i will put it back in there and see if that works.
Is anyone able to get the Amazon Mp3.apk and upload it and send to me. I would like to get the one that originally came with my phone. Version 1.7.67 it is the one that came with stock froyo

[Q] Titanium Backup not working

After flashing runnymede v5.0 AIO, i'm not able to use titanium backup anymore, it says that it isn't able to get root access,
I tried busybox update from titanium backup itself, it failed,
Then the one from market, still not working
After that i checked if i had proper root, i did, but still i re-ran gingerbreak. Still no result. Is there any other solution? other root apps work..
That seems odd :/
Gonna sound fairly basic, but you gotta start somewhere.
Does Titanium show up in the allowed list in SU?
Has it requested SU?
Hav you e-mailed dev? sounds more like a bug if its the only root app not working.
my 2c.
No it doesn't, in the log it says denied for Titanium Backup, however it never showed me a pop up, and in the settings of SU i enabled the option that it allows every app, still no succes
it still sounds like a bug in the app from here. Like I said though, that's only my opinion. Which version of Titanium is it (not number, but paid or free)?
It is the paid version
Again, just a thought, but have you tried using the free version? Just to see if its Titanium in general or just that one app?
I have tried the free version.. No success..
Did a factory reset and flashed the rom again, Titanium backup working fine now.

[Q] Lost Super User in App Drawer

I used the Casual.Jar to gain Root and it worked. I also installed Voodoo's Rootkeeper and backuped up the S.U.
I then came to find out that Time/Warner was offering live T.V. on my Galaxy Nexus , but would not work if the phone was rooted. Well I used Rootkeeper to temporarily remove root so I could try the Time Warner app. Well it still would not work. So I read some posts in a different threads and followed instructions... I deleted the S.U. App from my phone thinking that because I backed it up thru rootkeeper , I would be safe.... I was wrong! Something is not right!
When I invoke Rootkeeper and tell it to restore S,.U., it does not work.(I have to force close it) When I try to re-install S.U. from the playstore, it shows installed. I also downloaded S.U. update fixer and that does not work, it runs in a 1/4 window on my nexus and i cant tap anything. So I figured Why not run Casual.Jar again and it would fix everything. Nope! When I run rootkeeper it shows every boxed checked except Device Rooted in the status window. It also gives me the option to Delete S.U, back up AND below that ....Temp. un-root (keeps backup) But When I try either of those 2 options nothing happens and I have to force close it.
Please help. I would like to restore Root and I guess another back up of S. U. before I run the update 4.04 that Verizon pushed to my phone (I just keep tapping install later. HELP!

CASUAL is just a fancy script that does this. Do it manually yourself, and you will be fine.
Thank you for your reply! But no way can I do this manually I do not have any idea of most of whats going on in that thread you directed me too! That looks way too involved. Thanks again.

Lost keyboard after rooting

Okay, that's a noob story that I suppose you have heard before. It goes like that:
Just rooted my Play using SuperOneClick and, using Titanium Backup, uninstalled all the bloatware.
Problem is, I also uninstalled the International Keyboard - by mistake, I was just looking for the Chinese one. That means, my phone is now left keyboardless!
How can I restore it without having to flash a stock ROM or anything of the kind?
Oh, plus another little problem: whenever I tap the About phone menu, I get a message stating "The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
And always get sent back to the main screen.
Any ideas?
You can get another keyboard from the Play store on your computer. It'll automatically install to your device.

That's what I'll do.
Tried a factory reset. Solved the com.android.settings problem but didn't restore the keyboard.
I know there is plenty of free Android keyboards available but, is there a way to find and install the default one?
I think someone will have to upload theirs, but my Play isn't on stock anymore. Or you could restore using SEUS or PC Companion, but then you'll probably lose root. This won't work if you unlocked the bootloader, it will brick it if you try.
So the way arround is probably to do it all over again. Since u already n still hav root (i guess) just start with install a recovery via cwm auto-installer (find it in play store), make a backup via recovery, flash a new .ftf via flashtool, re-root the phone n restore only data via recovery. That should get u started again.
