[Q] Weather's Current Location is Stuck/Blank - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

NEVERMIND. THE HTC WEATHER SERVER WAS DOWN.
I know there are plenty of threads out there about current location issues, but I have yet to find one that has gotten me anywhere with this problem.
My stock weather app is currently stuck on this for my current location:

It must have happened this afternoon while on my way home from another town. Peoria is the right location, but the information is out of date in some places (the forecasts) and incorrect in others (it was NEVER 0 degrees today). I have tried the following:
Turning on all location services
Making sure auto update was checked
Manually refreshing
Clearing data for various weather apps
Powering down, removing the battery for a few minutes, and rebooting.
If I enter the city manually as a new location, it will load correctly, it's just my current location that's the problem.
I have not left Peoria again since then, so I do not know if that would help.
I do have a few interesting clues.
When I cleared the data for HTC's weather provider, it completely destroyed the current location from any app: clock, calendar, weather, etc. If I added it back in (by placing a clock widget) it came back the same.
I restored data from a much older backup, and it worked again.
My phone is rooted.
I'd like to not have to wipe/restore all the data if I can avoid it. Does anyone have any theories as to what data I could pull from the old backup and then push to the current configuration to fix this, or is there another way to address the problem?
Thanks in advance.

Apparently it was down last night, a lot of users have reported issues. But it should be back up this morning, mine is anyways.

From Indiana but am currently in Tucson AZ working. After seeing your screenshot, I'm glad to be here...

Still cant get it to work in Fort Myers FL since Thursday. Doesnt show current location or any other weather info except for the other 3 locations that I watch.

What the deuce!!!! Never have had to do that before.
Thanks for letting me know najaboy, would have never figured out the reason. Would have fixed it without knowing as I use maps all the time, just wouldn't have known what fixed it.
OK, spoke to soon. It didn't pop up but this time I got an explanation somewhat... Still don't know how to fix it:
I just got this message for the 1st time (traveling on business). I just closed this message, and it picked up the right location immediately. I have it on airplane mode during the day since I can't get signal where I am during the day, so the phone + GPS might have been in a confused state.
I got the message once yesterday, and now since 3am EST It keeps giving me this error message. Even with GPS on AND opening Google Maps.
PS - Also, I read on Androidforums something about checking the alternate geocoder, but that option is greyed out for me.
PPS - I changed from Accuweather to Google Weather and it seems to be working now.
I have the same issue .. switching to GOOGLE for weather seems to fix the issue but I dont think it is providing the correct location as accuweather did
any fix?
Interesting, never seen that...I kinda want it to happen just to be like, ha, I don't exist right now.
I have the same problem with something fix for me
First of all I'm sorry for my English as I'm from Thailand
I got the exactly same problem and I tried many way to fix it out and what is work for me is
I go to application, Manage Application, and clear the Data for Beautiful Widget
Then I remove the home widget and Add the beautiful home widgets again and set the weather service for Accuweather then thing just come up and the problem just fixed
This is work for me.
Cheers
This is a year old thread bud, safe to say this isn't a common problem.

[Q] Google now widget

Hey guys I'm having a hard time finding a solution to my Google now problem. The Google now widget on my nexus only displays weather, no matter how many cards i have when I enter Google now. I've search around and it seems I'm not the only one with this problem. I've tried resizing it, opening Google now over and over, tapping the weather card, Nothing works. Again, I do have lots of cards in Google now, but only weather shows on the widget. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Thefinder
P. S. Just tried the widget on my Galaxy s3 and it's doing the exact same thing. What gives?
What size widget are you using - try making it bigger???
The GNow widget seems to display new cards when some new info arrives. Otherwise, you will be looking at the weather constantly. Try looking up and adding a sports team of your choice. It should add another card for the next game going to be played.

I've tried making it as large as possible and it made no difference. Aarsyl the problem with that is that I don't watch sports. I have pretty much every card except sports. Why doesn't it show the traffic and search cards that I see in Google now? That would be a great widget, does it normally show all your cards or does it only show weather and sports?

You're missing my point slightly, so let me explain in more detail.
The GNow widget doesn't display the exact same info as the GNow app. Instead, it posts new notifications at the appropriate times. For example, when it is time for you to drive to work, then the traffic info will show up in the widget. I was only suggesting the sports team as an example. The reason that my team shows up constantly is because the sport is in season. If I was to choose a different sport during the off-season, then it probably wouldn't display any info.
In my opinion, the GNow app isn't that useful because of the way that it uses space without producing the same cards at all times.

Yeah I get what you're saying, my problem is that it just doesn't show anything but the weather ever. I've had the widget on my home screen for a couple weeks now. I guess I should just give up on that one unless they change it.
Try ordering some goods online. Mine reports when my Amazon purchases are being shipped. As I also use my calendar, with addresses in it, and have Maps set with both my Home & Work addresses, so those show up.
To reiterate the point above, you need to give it material to work *with*. It's intended to alert you to what you need to know NOW, and for that it needs source information in Gmail, Maps, etc.
Prime those pumps and it should start working any day, er, now.

GPS Location not working T-Mobile S6 Edge!

******Update******
So I have my replacement phone and my old S6 Edge was messed up! I posted a comment in another thread about slowdown and terrible jank and stuff. This new one I just received is quick. There's some animation issues, but for the most part it's a night and day difference between my old one and this new one. Anyway along with that I used GPS Test app and compared the two. The new one didn't lose "Fix" for over 5 minutes. The old S6 Edge lost it 17 times in 5 minutes.
It appears to have been a hardware issue.
So my GPS is messed up! Anyone else having this issue?

This is not ideal. The S6 Edge is broken... at least mine is. Sometimes it will work flawlessly for miles, then have a hick up here and there. Other times it's a mess.

Awesome, I'll give it a try now, but before I do, did you restore the phone or set it up as a new phone?

i always just start off as a new phone
Factory Reset and Restore along with wiping cache partition. All failed. I'm still not getting GPS.
I called T-Mobile and they sent me a new GS6 Edge NDA. Should be here today, if this is also broken, I'm unfortunately gonna leave the S6. I heavily rely on GPS. It's more important to me than a camera. Yes I'm hinting at the M9 lol, but even then I'm not entirely sure I want that phone either.
Dammit Samsung/T-Mobile
We went through some basic troubleshooting and I am on "high accuracy mode" and location services enabled, etc.
Anyway here's more screenshots on my way to work, first pic shows it not working, it found me for a second when I got to "Pecos" then it found me completely using GPS, then lost me again. The last image is me walking to work. I have a 10 minute walk from where I park in Downtown Denver to work. The entire walk it was searching for GPS. That's the last image.
My co-worker with a S5 introduced me to an App called "GPS Test" and he was able to get 18 GPS sites, I literally have none. So something is definitely wrong with this one. I will go home and test it out again on the new phone and see if there's an improvement.
Have you found any solution to ur gps issue? If you have sorted up, please let us know. My GPS status app also could not find any satellites

Disable Sense and Clock Location detection

Hello,
I just got my HTC 10 and during setup wizard, where Sense asked whether to share location or not I chose yes. Is there any way to disable this? I have looked almost everywhere and I cannot find the setting anywhere.
Sense home widget, lock screen clock widget and the Clock app, all keep on showing my current location. I suppose that this drains battery. I would like them to show weather, etc. in the location I set them to, if possible, rather than them detecting it automatically.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

It won't drain your battery, but you can turn off location services in settings>location.
For setting your time zone location manually for the clock widget: tap the clock, go to world clocks (it won't work in alarms stopwatch or timer ~ different menus) and tap the three dot menu thing top right, choose "set home time zone", type in your city and you are done.

I think I found out where the drain was coming from. It was the HTC weather app, which updated every 1 hour or so.

Yeap I usually turn that down or off. However it shouldn't be that drastic. Maybe also check settings/accounts and sync and look what all is inside each account and disable what isn't needed.
Also go to settings/locations/menu/scanning and disable the Wi-Fi constantly scanning. Menu is three dots in top right corner of settings/location

Question Can't clear persistent notification from Google that says 'Downloading'

I have a notification from Google that says 'Downloading'. When I try to find what specifically is showing it, it says Data Download Notification Channel. I'd prefer to just figure out why it's there and be able to fix the issue, and not just hide the notifications from that one specific thing. Anyone hav any ideas how?

I know this doesn't give you what you want, but I would just chalk it up to a one-off quirk. I would expect rebooting would likely get rid of it, and hopefully, it wouldn't return, at least not regularly.

Rebooting does temporarily get rid of it but it comes back pretty soon after reboot. So I don't think it's a one off unfortunately.
Edit: my mobile data signal just went to like one bar and the notification went away. When I drove into a better signal area it came back.

pixel 6 "Google notifications"
Does anyone know why I'm getting a Google Downloading notification so many times a day, and you can't clear them either, without disabling every notification in settings. It doesn't give any clue as to what's being downloaded. When I tap & hold...

Same here.
I've had this numerous times. Go into Apps and force stop the Google app. It makes it go away permanently. Or at least until next time it happens.
Just use wifi network for few minutes. Google has some updates to do in background. So that it keeps coming.
You can try below 2 other solutions if you like.
1. Turn off data download notification in settings.
2. Update the offline voice.
Open Google app > Top profile > Settings > Voice > offline voice Recognition > Languages > update.
