I just bought a Plantronics Voyager Pro Plus and people are complaining that they cannot here me because it sounds like my audio is skipping. I had a Jawbone Icon before that and took it back for the same reason. I thought it was the earpiece. Now I've been using my original Jawbone and people hear me just fine. I'm starting to believe this issue is with earpieces that connect to phone and media audio like most of the newer ones do, my old jawbone only supports phone audio and works perfectly. I was outside one day and noticed skipping when I was walking and playing music through my Plantronics. I'm wondering if I should do a warranty exchange? I have hardware version 003 Evo, anyone else experiencing this. Oh yeah, they sent this to me refurbished after my original 002 Evo had the screen lifting problem.

Yeah I'm pretty sure. It didn't even have that new look. The front edges that are shiny look like they have been polished over or something. Like it had some scratches before. I've had it for about 4 months now and would like to keep it. I'm just having this one bluetooth issue. I really don't want to have to root and flash my rom again but I can't use any of the new bluetooth headsets out and my old one is uncomfortable to me now.

look under refurbushed date. if there is a date there, then its a refurb, it it says N/A, then its new.

Ok. Tried this, I guess it's not a refurb. But it is having some serious bluetooth skipping problems.

Any Updates on this? I got the JayBird Bluetooth Freedom JF3's and they skip a TON in the gym. I thought it was the headset, so I replaced it with a different set.
It still skips.
Any updates are welcome, before I start a new thread.

Unfortunately for me, I found out it was a bluetooth problem with my Evo 4g. Since upgrading to the Evo 3D with the same headsets I have zero skipping. Both while talking and listening to music. I surfed around about this and a lot of people were having various bluetooth issues with the Evo 4g. They've upgraded the 3D to bluetooth v3.0. No problems now.

Thank you so much for the reply. I was worried that it was an overall HTC problem, but your update about the Evo 3d not having the same issue suggests that it is an Evo 4g issue.

Since the Q1 is now "updated", I wonder how this would compare to the t1 bluetooth headset that they sell?
Guess I made a good choice ordering the t1 today. No one seems to be saying, "Wait! The t1 sucks"
the T1 is a great headset i love it but the only problem i have with it is the ear hook the rubber ear holder is not always spot on in the ear. I may look around and see what the price is on this one or see what the latest update does for the Q1.
love the T1; great prices, great sound, and I dumped my Jawbone Icon for it..
hope that with Froyo, you will be able to use all the voice commands on the EVO..
Thanks guys for the input.
Kratos - I remember the thread you started about ordering the t1 from the cellguru. Went ahead, bit the bullet and ordered from them.
On that note, was the product authentic? I mean...was it new condition like you would buy from say...bestbuy or radioshack?
got mine from cell guru; brand new, retail pack..
only down side is NO RETURNS ON BT HEADSETS through them..
Well I read the 300+ reviews and they showed that the products shipped out were authentic and good quality. Only a few people had problems, but cellguru made things right.
Freaking excited because I ordered it with FedEx 2 day shipping. Gotta give my Plantronics Explorer a proper burial
could have saved the money, cause they ship out really fast..I think they are in the Boston area..

I'm in Texas buddy it would take a while to get here. Plus I'm in school so I really needed it ASAP.
As far as FroYo goes, I'm really excited to get the Bluetooth functionality like the push-to-call feature that is missing from 2.1 OS. Hate the fact that I have to connect the Bluetooth and physically touch the screen to dial the person.
I just got two:
Samsung Galaxy S II - Titanium from T-mobile (SGH-T989)
Not rooted, etc...But stock, as they come from t-mobile.
Voice quality is pretty bad on those two units. I can hear the other party muffed. I thought they are on speakerphone or talking thru a headset. Then the person with the other S G II noticed the same issue. I am having hard time understanding the other party in every call. I really got to focus on the conversation
Low voice volume when rocker is on max. It is hard to hear people in street noisy environment.
I talked to T-mo rep and they said that probably the phone is like this, and suggested to go to t-mo store and try one of their units. I wonder if it's the entire batch or the phones are like this.
I am coming from Google Nexus One. I wonder if Ice Cream will solve this issue or cyanogen mod 9. Is it hardware or software issue? Anyone else with similar thoughts?
Honestly, coming from a Sensation, this phone has incredible sound quality and speaker volume.
I think you should warranty both handsets.
I came from the MyTouch 4G... And the SGS2 has such better sound quality than I had with my MyTouch, and I liked the MyTouch... I think you got a bad phone... Two bad phones, if that's possible... Haha
I have the same problem. Sounds like crap. I returned my first one after about 2 days. Got another one and it worked fine for a month or so, yhen the same thing happened. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do now. I can't Stand it.

Yeah i have notice as well
i've been using it for 2+ month now, it's loud and clear
you guys must have got some duds
the other day another user asked me about the Mic, and after using compressed air to clear it out, is fine now
if you put the phone in your pants or jacket pockets often it might be stuffed

Thank you for your input.
I have no problem with my mic. The other party has no problem either, since I talk to different people, and I still have the same result. I have problem with the speaker, or the sound chip. The phones are brand new so no lint/dust in the speaker, or the mic.
I think Samsung does some changes with every different batch. This one is probably just like this. Nothing can be done. The series I am talking is: Samsung Galaxy S II – Titanium for T-Mobile, manufactured in December 2011 (no headphones in the box).
I am sure a lot of other SG2 s are fine.
The volume is on max, when I call someone (before the other party answers) ringing in the speaker is not clear or crisp, since the volume is on max.
I talked to Samsung today 12/21 and they have not hear of the issue. I talked to t-mobile on 12/20 and they have no solution either.
I guess it’s going on craigslist. Probably this will be normal voice quality for other users, and I will downgrade to Nexus S (hardware wise) until some other nexus appears at the end of the next year.

That's what it is. Talk on my phone you'll clearly see the difference. My old Sensation had horrible call quality until I ran the volume + app but then my battery started dying quickly
So I got rid of it & haven't looked back since.
This is someone coming from an unlocked iphone 4 in white (best call quality besides the Galaxy S2)
My GS2 is so clear and loud I never have to worry about hearing other callers no matter where I am. Take both phones back and have the reps at the store exchange them for you.
If they give you grief, have them make calls from your 2 handsets. Make sure they grab a demo phone to compare yours to
same
I have the same exact issue. Just got my phone a few days ago, enjoying Pandora in the car with the AUX input jack...
A call comes in, I answer, and I can't heard a damn thing! I make sure the In Call volume is set to max, still can barely hear the caller. I turn up my stereo...finish the call...then BAM! Pandora is blasting my ears off!
Incredibly frustrating!
sharko, wondering if you were able to get this resolved via exchange...?

Just today I started playing some music and noticed and awful crackling/popping distortion coming from the top speaker at higher volumes. Not loud volumes, but higher volumes. I flashed to sense and CM but it is not a ROM issue. This just started today or yesterday, since it wasn't there 2 days ago.
I am about a 2 weeks over my 14-day return period, and I REALLY don't want a refurb (knowing VZW's awful history of terrible refurbs).
What should I do? :crying:
Bump.
Try a frequency generator app and find the frequency that you hear the issue. I believe that some of the frequency generator apps have left and right balance, which should let you isolate the bad side so it is easier to hear the problem. At least this way it should be obvious whether you have a damaged speaker.
You might be boned, but I have had good units from square trade. Asurion was hit and miss. They actually sent me fouled up units as well as brand new units in box with all accessories with the Rezound.

You can get Squaretrade or Asurion insurance added to your device.
Verizon probably won't want to issue you a new device. Asurion and Squaretrade will likely issue you a CLN if you do it through insurance. But this speaker issue is probably a manufacturer defect so it should be replaced under warranty, so you shouldn't need insurance on it for this issue. I don't know of a way to get a new device via warranty or insurance, unless they run out of CLN devices. I believe that is what happened with the Rezound-- I think there were so many insurance claims because many of them were defective, so they ran out and had to ship new units instead.
If you can do without for a short period you could send to HTC for repair .. Since s-off/s-on is a pretty easy switch should be no big deal if you can do without or use an old phone

Well, I am going to see if the VZW reps will give me a new one today. It's worth a shot.

But anyway, I have tried on stock and CM and it is definitely a hardware issue.

I replied to them with the info and they haven't emailed me since.
This happened to me on CM. And I had just finished posting on here that I was having ZERO problems with CM.
Anyway, I restored my bonestock backup and the crackling has gone away. Not sure why CM would make that happen.

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of buying a HTC One because I'm sick of the SG4's bluetooth compatibility issues, specifically with slightly older BT devices.
Does the HTC One exhibit the same bluetooth problems (dropped connections, inconsistent pairing, music skipping/stuttering)?
Has anyone here moved from a SG4 to a HTC 1?
The HTC One has outstanding Bluetooth. Never drops or stutters.
But, why don't you buy the M8 since the M7 is over a year old?

Never had an issue with Bluetooth on Sense 5.5, 6 and CM11. Use it all the time for my car stereo, transferring apks between devices, and using a MBW-200.
My only complaint with the one is battery life. I get around 10-16 hours of heavy to moderate use.

Find and edit the smali files to make it do what you want. Honestly I'm surprised no one has made that mod yet, but then again I haven't looked at it to see how difficult it would be :/

Without actually looking at it, I'd guess it just a decompilation of AudioPolicy.smali and looking for volume controls, but it's been a while since I've dug into androids guts (4.1) so things may have changed...
