Is anyone else having this problem? When I go into radio I can't adjust the volume at all; it basically plays at loud.. and that's it.
For me it adjusts a little bit but pretty much it's just always loud.

You're not alone; on an HTC Desire. Haven't tried the radio yet, but in-call volume is always ridiculously loud. Don't understand why; 6.0.2 was perfectly fine. Now every time I make a call I have to worry about whether my eardrum or the speaker on my phone will rupture.
WHy are you guys using RC4 and not Final?

They posted this about 10 days ago then someone revived it. So, I dunno why the guy that brought this thread back is still using RC4.

There is absolutely no sound when I make a call or receive a call on my Evo 4g. The sound works fine on speaker and notifications and ringtones work as well. I recently rooted it using the revolutionary method and cant seem to figure out the issue. I have been using Mikg rom 2.61 but have tried flashing back to stock.
Any Ideas? sorry if this has been posted before
It's probably a hardware issue. I had an old slider phone that did the same thing, only worked on speaker.
You can unroot and take it in to Sprint and have them take a look at it if you can't find another solution.

well i'm confused because the sound works on everything else so it makes me think that it isn't a hardware issue. I however have no idea and would appreciate any ideas how to fix this
Did u make sure your incall volume was set in settings as well as thru the volume rocker I've found a few ROM's that had incall volume in the tweaks and even tho my volume rocker was up it was still really quiet until I turned the volume up in tweaks/settings

i recently had the same issue. when i answered the phone it went straight to speaker. i couldnt find any solution in the settings. before making a drastic decision like switching ROMS. i decided to shut off my phone. unplug the battery for a minute and rebooted. that was the soluiton. sometimes we as moders overlook the obvious.

The volume through the earpiece and the volume through the speaker are different speakers, unless I'm mistaken. Your notifications, ringtones, music, and putting it on speaker during a call all use the speaker on the back of the phone. The in-call volume is the only thing that uses the earpiece. Even if the two speakers are connected, it could still be a hardware issue.
There's an app that controls volume, and it has an option to turn the media volume lower than 0, which then routes the volume through the earpiece. I don't remember the name or where I saw it, but if you can find it then you could use it to diagnose.
If you run an RUU and the problem still persists, then it's most likely a hardware problem. At that point I would unroot and take it into Sprint for a replacement... unless you think you can replace it yourself.

I'm having the same issue, but it was working before I rooted it with revolutionary. After unrooting it stopped working back to stock. Why is that? Mind you I am now with metro pcs and the evo is new.
Do you guys have a car symbol in the notifaction bar?
If not, the ear speaker is easy and cheap to replace. Just search on eBay and you'll be able to find ones that give you a screwdriver to open the evo
Having trouble with AOSP? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295702
Is anyone else having a problem with their G2 earspeaker?
Ever since I ran Virtuous Affinity my ear speaker has been acting up, I can never hear the person on the other side unless its extremely quiet and they can hear me sometimes, when I use the speaker 50% of the time they can't hear me..... Is there a fix?
The next beta of Andromadus (3) will have tweaked volume levels. There is also a thread in the development section that provides a mod for increasing the volume and mic levels.

Alright, Im on Andromadus and thought the switch from the sense ROMs would fix my phones call quality.... thanks!
Need some advice or trouble shooting tips.
Lately, my DHD is experiencing a sharp popping sound when I wake the device, use an app, or receive messages via Whatsapp or Line.
Presenting I am on JB and had been on AOSP for a long while. The popping sound only started recently after a period of testing Sense 3.6 and Sense 4 ROM's. Going back to AOSP, I noticed the sound right away. Even with all touch options disabled, the sound remains. It's coming from the rear speaker and even if the device is on mute, the sound can be heard.
As well, with online messaging, if I put my ear on the speaker, you can heard a slight hiss and it gradually gets louder until the pop sound cracks.
This problem doesn't happen with the new Sense ROM's I tested. What I have done was tested different AOSP and JB ROM's with the same result.
My next plan is to download a stock version on GB (ARHD is the choice I selected) and test the issue there. However, I am starting to think that I should return straight back to unrooted stock ROM, but I am not sure if that is really necessary.
My question is,,,, has anyone experienced this sound issue and if so, are there any suggestions or tips? As well, could someone experienced actually offer an explanation for the sound. Is my device on its' last legs?
I am thinking it might be kernel or radio related. I really don't know and hope someone can shed some light on this subject.

I highly doubt that it's software related. I've not seen anyone report any such kind of behavior and neither have I experienced it with either Sense or AOSP roms. The fact that the pop sound does not happen when you're on Sense roms is a bit strange, however I think it maybe explainable by the fact AOSP versions generally have boosted volume levels for better sound.
Personally, I think that you should get the speaker module replaced before it breaks down completely (which I believe is a very real possibility given the nature of the problem you've stated).
Just tested ARHD and when I make a call, there is a slight tick or crackle sound coming from the front ear piece. The sound is faint, but when put the phone to my ear and press the call button, I can clearly hear it.
I'm going to test the original radio and see if that sound remains. If it does, it seems the previous post above just might be my issue and I really hope not.
You could also try a can of compressed air.
By the way buddy, you've been here too long to be posting in the wrong section

LOL,, did I? HTC Desire HD General Section? Maybe I did... Where should I post?
As for the air compressor, I did that a couple of months ago. I'll give it a go.
As for changing the radio, I did and still have that click with calls. Looking grim at the moment.
It's a thin line between where to post, but yours is a question.

Hey guys! Every time I skype, the mic on my earphone always seems to receive what I say to be really low. This only happens on builds after 20121223 nightly. Can anyone help me find what is wrong so I can use the latest nightlies?
I believe it's a bug ATM.

Ah..so it's not just me who is having this problem?
Sorry for the double post but is it possible to fix this problem if we see what has changed from build 20121223 and the latest build?

i dont remember the 12/23 build but im pretty sure this bug has been around since i switched to 10.1. im no dev but i think its a driver issue. i wish it was that easy to fix, other than that issue the rom is great.
Ah okay..that's unfortunate. Thank you for your help.
I have not been experiencing this low mic volume. I do have low speaker volume when in a phone call though. I had not experienced this on the 12/28 build and I am currently on the 13/04 build and still have not found it being "low"
Hi
Can anyone give me any ideas on how to boost the call volume at all? I have the volume set to MAX but the sound is so quiet it's driving me nuts. It cant be me going deaf as I can still hear the wife
It used to be fine when I was on M2 of CM11 but needed to move to a newer version (now on nightly from March 14th) in order to fix a couple of other issues with GPS, camera and bluetooth.
Diddo
Glad I am not the only one noticing this .. man in call volume from handset is crazy low.

Check the themes and apps section, I remember seeing a fix for the volume in there somewhere.
Hey there,
I also have the same problem since using CM11. When using the Samsung Stock Rom, the volume was much louder.
So what app should I use?
Did you guys find a solution for this problem? I have it too...
I found a workaround. Once the call starts press volume down button and then volume up. It works great. The problem is that you have to do this each and every single time...
Has this been fixed in M11?
