Is anyone else having a problem with their G2 earspeaker?
Ever since I ran Virtuous Affinity my ear speaker has been acting up, I can never hear the person on the other side unless its extremely quiet and they can hear me sometimes, when I use the speaker 50% of the time they can't hear me..... Is there a fix?
The next beta of Andromadus (3) will have tweaked volume levels. There is also a thread in the development section that provides a mod for increasing the volume and mic levels.

are you on a T-mobile ROM?
If so, reflash with the HTC vanilla one. It fixes this.

Can you explain in a bit more detail please.
Im using richards rom........if i flash a vanilla rom does that downgrade me to 1.6
No it puts you at stock 2.1 Htc Sense.
So whats the change in vanilla from richards so we can all add this hack to our own roms to increase volume??
i think the hack/mod is the no echo mod. i believe it turns down the volume so the person on the other end of the call can't hear the speaker? i've never had an echo problem so i don't use that version and i have relatively no problems hearing the other person (and my hearing is horrible). so maybe try flashing a non no-echo mod update. or you might have to reflash .9b full first then the uvoc (if you use that), depends on if the uvoc non-echo has the audio mod files in it or not
I think it has more todo with the way people damage their ears.
Personally my volume bar is on the first notch from lowest, one press lower its zero and I can hear everything fine.
My housemate playing with my phone in turn puts the volume to max and is still complaining its too low ...
It is hard to understand what someone else hears, but I can not understand that the distorted sound comming out of the earplugs at max volume can be too soft for someone to hear properly. Maybe if you don't clean your ears at all I dont know :s
The sound from the earplugs at max volume during a conversation is still audibe to me. So another question arises, do you want others to hear your converstation? Or do I just have sensitive ears?
not sure of reason

I noticed it with the headphone out level. I plug into a stereo in the kitchen sometimes and the level was way below line-level. There's something in the T-Mobile ROM that's done this, whether deliberate or not I don't know. The vanilla official HTC one doesn't do this, and has normal output level.
I was running the latest nightly cyanogenmod rom and the earpiece speaker volume was loud and clear so that sometimes I even had to lower it by the side buttons during a phonecall.
Now I changed to Insertcoin stable but the volume is almost the half even at the maximum setting so that in a loud enviromnment I can barely hear the other person on the line. The same problem existed in every other sense rom that i tried.
Is there any mod or app that I could use to boost the volume of the earpiece speaker? Not the external speaker or the headphones but the earpiece one. Thanks in advance.
yeah i know what you mean same thing with my BT earpiece ...on AOSP roms loud and clear on Sense roms quiet (and fuzzy) ... as far as i know there's no solution for that
in call volume too low how to increase ??
+1
I find it's too low as well. Even on highest volume I've frequently got trouble hearing what ppl are saying... Especially in noisy environments such as on public transport! I'm on InsertCoin 6.1.
I have not yet found an app to boost the volume.
I must use a headset to talk if I want to hear anyone while in a public or noisy place.

i have to have my in call volume on 50% or its too loud, 100% is just a bit quieter than loud speaker.

Maybe that's because of your use of DSP Manager. My ear piece is very weak. It's like listening through a train engineer's wool sock soaked in kerosene and hog fat.

There is no app available that can boost the in-call volume.
I believe the only way that an in-call volume modification can be achieved is by making the necessary changes in the source and building your own kernel. I seem to remember this was done on the Nexus One a while back.
I have my in call volume set at 25% while not in crowded places. While clubbing i use cca 50%, anything more hurts me xD
BTW, thats on stock, 1.29, not rooted, no DSP
My HOX is loud enaugh.
But I faced the same issue when I had the Sensation. Two solutions existed:
1) Non-Rooted, use Volume+, Volume Boost, Louder Volume Hack or Equalizer
2) Rooted, use this guide.

Unfortunately, the apps you listed do not work for increasing the in call volume, apart from Louder Volume Hack but it's very outdated and won't work on the One X (I made it for the original T-Mobile G1 and Google removed the files that it changed when they released the Nexus One).
As it stands, there's no app available that can boost the in call volume, not to my knowledge anyway.

is there any solution for this?
having the same problem too
I have the exact same problem, and it appeared after I rooted and started flashing ROMs, wasn't the case with the stock ROM.
Currently using LeeDroid
Me too...
Thank god i've found more people with this "feature". I've noticed that after flashing LeeDroid 6.4.0. Never noticed that before rooting.
Yeah call volume does suck
On charmeleon

Having the exact same issue and me too using leedroid 6.4.0
I can't remember weather it was like this before I flashed this rom.
WTF? My in call volume is way too loud. I have to keep the one X 2-3 cm away from my ear sometimes

I think this is more popular issue than we think. I got that problem too on ARHD 7.1.0, hope its only software problem not hardware.
Sometimes sound incall is very good, clear, loud, but mostly its sux, especially when there is more sounds around (streets etc).
Nope..its too loud for me..so I have kept it on half..I am on ARHD 7.1 ..

So its very strange, maybe should try to give back on warranty ?
As the title says, I'm getting constantly earraped by that speaker, even if it's set to the lowest.

Loved the phrase: earraped.
I know this will sound stupid, but have you tried VOL down key while in call?
this guy is hearing frequencies unknown to the human ear. lol #earman
I literally have to keep the phone 2-3cm away from my ear. And yes I've set the volume on minimal whilst on call
I tried some apps from play store and they all tell me that my in-call volume issues on lowest
I guess I have to hold my phone differently

I also have no in call volume. I assume it's a bug. I am running HD Revolution 6.1 and Franco #9
Same problem here. I don't even have to put the phone in my ear when I talk to my dad.
Also, call volume controls felt unresponsive, even in stock ROM.
I've been trying to find a way to counter the low audio output from the Gnex. I thought the volume was an ICS issue considering the phone's output can handle quite alot more than the silent cricket whispering output it already has. Just when I thought JB had fixed this issue, turns out it hasn't. It's still the same old intensely low audio output.
I've tried almost everything, franco kernel app, Put the phone on Level 3 Ezkeel's MOD and high audio output, Volume+ (Seems to have no effect on JB, perhaps in need of an update?), Equalizer (Crashes instantly, can't even set options or anything)
With headphone's the phone's a BEAST. No doubt about it, Love it. But I can't seem to hear my calls and messages. It's either upset colleagues or an upset gf that assumes I'm ignoring them. Regardless, both are out to get me. I'd love to hear my phone ringing when I'm outside, But it seems "Air" is alot louder than my phones audible level, can't even hear it ringing in my own pocket!
That modded JellyBean rom with Awesome Beats or whatever sounded the loudest in my testing. Of course I wasn't really paying attention at the time or I would've got my old phone out and a decibel meter app to test it .
Hmm. Going to attempt something later today
Not to get off topic here, but I installed CM9 RC and it has higher audio levels than stock, but after it finishes playing any sound on the speaker, a second or 2 later you get this pop or click (assumably the speaker turning off). Not only is that annoying, doesn´t that damage the speaker?
Does this modded Jelly Bean ROM do something similar?

That would damage it in the sense, slowly though. It's like forcing a higher level of output than it can handle. Normally the sound should fade, but if it pops that can damage the speaker. Also the JellyBean is pretty legit from Google. Low audio but nothing ezekeel audio mods can't fix
