Has anyone used unrevoked 3 version 3.22 yet on a evo with software 3.30.651.3 hbootloader 2.02 yet and if so did it work for root or did it fail?

I'm wondering the same thing.

unrevoked is universal so it changes for all phones

ok will it do everthing just like 3.21 did for 3.29 or is it missing the recovery img?

as far as i know unrevoked still cant root the 2.02 hboot.
however my guide can !
its in the dev forums:
hboot s-off like a boss edition

Ya you and your bunk image of 2.02.001 hboot. Screen is black and i only have fastboot and hboot usb. But my hboot is your fake image which bricks phones. Dont have extended fastboot commands so i get errors when flashing thru fastboot commands.Half of my partition images are completely gone. Why dont you fix that? When i flash eng pc36img, the phone vibrates five or six short times and it say failpu. Ive tryed the rom.zip putting on sdcard and renaming it pc36img. You warn people it may brick but you didnt supply the correct file. How to fix bricked hboot 2.02.001??

Nothin huh?

Not a true story, this poor guy just doesn't know how to follow directions. I rooted my buddies EVO tonight with no problems using this method. Yeah, its nice to have Unrevoked but at the end of the day what have you learned by using the "easy" way?

Maybe. Or maybe after he realized it was no good he replaced the link with a new image....yellow is a young, dumb, simp. Yellow must of been sheltered from the world as a little girl. Its ok yellow, we understand

I tried this unrevoked on a friends BRAND NEW EVO 004 and latest OS.. doesnt work.. I did find a manual method that has a unrevoked zip file in it and a couple of other zips.. all worked great!

okay i'm fried

htc evo sprint cdma 2.1 tried rooting it, i did but
1 i guess some thing is wrong with the recovery image (recovery mode gets me to the red triand exclamation point)
2 cant install nandroid on my hero it was easy.. wtf
This is for EVO. You should go to the Hero section.
sorry i meant the evo told i'm fried
ok this should probably be posted in the Q&A section.
It sounds like you dont have one of the new recoveries yet. if you are rooted and havent already try downloading rom manager and having it flash clockwork and then boot back into recovery and see if it goes that way.
If you used the simple root program i believe it has an option to install the recovery you can try using that if you cant get rom manager to take as i have heard sometimes when using that method getting the new recovery on the first time can be tricky.
Let us know if you still have problems after.
toast part 2. you are not nand unlocked.
hardly fried
okay i think i got it forgot to run the evo-recovery windows, duh! trying to install virus rom carbon, thnx guys for not blasting this noobie .. i'm just 2wks and tring to do to phones u all have been verrry patient to say tha least
well a no go for me phone is caught in a boot loop
what hboot version do you have?
.79 ussually means you do not have nand unlocked which may be the case as stated above. If it isnt as stated try toast part 2/2 an it shoudl get you set up.

Depends if you used Toast's method or Unrevoked Forever... best way to tell is to boot to bootloader and look at the top line. S-OFF means you have NAND unlocked. AFAIK, S-ON always means you don't.

I never thought to check before I flashed UF, doesn't the ENG bootloader still have S-ON? Or was S-OFF part of the eng image?

[Q] Unrevoked 3.21 not rooting Evo 4G....

Even though Unrevoked is telling me "This was a triumph."
I went through the process and it looks to be working, but when I boot the phone back up into Android, there's no Ninja and when I install ROMManager, it tells me SU access was not found on the device.
Am I doing something wrong here? Is there a detailed how'to somewhere so I can see if I'm missing a step?
Thanks!
What HBOOT version is your phone? Boot into bootloader and itll say it at the top!
What hardware version is your phone?

You probably have a new phone with hboot 2.02 or 2.10 and unrevoked does not work with them...
Or, You upgraded your phone via the OTA and lost root... And now you are trying to use the same old unrevoked that you used to unlock the phone before..
If you have a new HBOOT listed above unrevoked will not root your phone. In the development section there is a thread with instructions on how to root hboot 2.02 or 2.10 phones.

That'd be it. HBOOT is 2.02. I just got this thing out of the box and looks like I'll have to use the other way.
I'm coming from a Droid 1 and I have to say, at least that phone, rooting was cake.

Yeah you will have to use the other way, the thread is by Zikronix, and I have used it on a friends phone. Takes some time to do and make sure you follow every step carefully!
IIRC, to get ADB, I need to download and install the SDK, correct?

[Q] Unrevoked 3.0 on stock 2.2 EVO - no image or wrong image at bootloader screen?

Hi I have tried searching the threads already but I couldn't find any that was related to my problem specifically.
I am trying to root my HTC EVO 4G 2.2 stock with the unrevoked method. I followed all the instructions from guides and unrevoked and the part I am stuck at is when I run Unrevoked and it reboots my EVO. When it tells me to use the volume button to select HBOOT USB and press power, I get an error message on my phone saying "no image or wrong image!"
Was I supposed to put the PC36IMG file and recovery image on my microsd card when I run unrevoked or is this unnecessary? I thought the unrevoked software was supposed to include it.
Also, am I supposed to root it without a microsd card or with it? Thanks.
I rooted mine with unrevoked 3.21. the newer version is at least v3.22. You are using version 3.0 to root your evo? If your having issues rooting ,my guess is that you are using an out of date unrevoked....
It depends on which h-boot your phone has...2.02 or 2.10 or an older version?
I'm using the newest version so it should be 3.22. I just dled the file from their site a few days ago. I tried using mac and pc and they both don't work.
So for mac, you're not supposed to have anything on your microsd like the PC36IMG file that i've seen on other rooting guides right?
How do I find out the version of the hboot on my phone? I am not sure.
ok, there are a few things that need to be sorted out here.
1: when it says no image/wrong image, that means it scanned the sdcard and found nothing. this is what you want to have happen for unrevoked to take hold.
2: unrevoked is way out of date. if your software is 3.29, 3.30, or 3.70, then your radio could be permanently corrupted and damaged because of this.
3: unrevoked is on version 3.22, and you say you are on version 3.0??? wow that is really, reeeealy out of date.
baisically, your radio is taking a bunch of bashing right now, and it is all your fault for not reading the threads and searching well enough. good luck sorting it all out. oh, and by the way, if you have hboots 2.02 or 2.10, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045
I tried using Windows as well and I installed the drivers and I was able to get unrevoked to reboot my EVO. However, when it's done rebooting, it hasn't changed and unrevoked still says "waiting for root..." and I don't see the super user icon on my phone. What's going on?
Sorry no the 3.0 was a mistake/typo; it's 3.2, the newest one on their site.
So should I NOT use unrevoked and use some other method? I just used this because I read that it was supposed to be easy and simple. What other method would you recommend?
read again
read my post again. let me try again. beginrant/ UNREVOKED IS OUT OF DATE. YOU ARE PERMANENTLY HARMING YOUR PHONE. STOP USING UNREVOKED. THANKS FOR LISTENING. /endrant

haveing same problem

Need a lot of help.

Long story short, my microphone broke on my old EVO, so I unrooted to take it back. I got a new one and tried to root it again used UnrEVOked3 again and it not work. Recovery does not work, there is no superuser options. On the hboot menu it does say S-OFF. I have tried to reuse the UnrEVOked3 and it will not recognize my device. I am just looking for some form of help so that I can get my phone rooted so I can get CM7.
Thanks
have you tried to dl superuser (the one from Chains) from the market?
Just did, still will not let me use root apps or anything, only difference is now I have the app.
Did you reboot?
Use this thread as a reference to completely unroot your phone, then retry unrEVOked...

Well, since you show S off, I'd just flash a PC36IMG of Amon Ra recovery, and then flash a new rom. I've seen people report of Unrevoked having a difficult time for whatever reason. I've never had a hiccup with it, but taht doesn't matter. Perhaps there was something on your computer causing you issues, such as HTC sync, PDAnet, an anti virus program, etc. Anyways, download this PC36IMG, put it on the root of your SD card. Shut your phone off, then boot to the bootloader. It'll ask you to update, and select vol up to say yes. Once it's done, you can boot into recovery and flash away. That should all work just fine, because you're S off already.
Try what he ^^^ said first...if that still fails, try what I said lol
what h-boot do u have and were u runing 3.70 when u did unrevoked 3 cause it should not work at all u need tun another method to root

Not sure what you're talking about. I think your info is outdated. Unrevoked works with all hardware and software versions for the Evo (3.70) included. I've used it more than a few times. Unrevoked was updated months ago, like right after Christmas.

The question is, did you ever use unrevoked forever to root? Have you tried (like they said to) repeating the process over and over until you get S-ON?
Our did you try skipping that and doing the second option with the image file?
Do you get any errors? Its important to state its a one or another gamer when it comes to this.
More details please...

i did try unrevoked forever but it say something about phone was to new or was a old version and use a different ver so i went to Unrevoked 3.21
i did do the steps over and over
but when i do pc36.img it dont update like it did on his video it only says parsing...sdzip 1 recovery
oh yeah i downgraded radio like it said somewhere
ready to throw this phone in the river ugh!!!!!!!!! been doing this for two hrs plus
You need to flash 2 new hboots over it. There is a hex edited one somewhere in the Evo4g section go find it. Search for it.
Also: Sucks you've been doing it for more than 2 hrs. I have the files and wrote a script to make me s-on with stock splash screen in <2 minutes.
ok trying now found it but comes with 3 different ones ver"76- ver 79 ver 93 do i do the newest one
I'll grab you a link.
