{Q} Drivers - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I work technical support for a software company. Many times i have used my phone to usb tether with the clients computer if they are having internet problems.
What i usually do is place HTC sync on the disk drive since i am able to use it as a disk drive without drivers.
Is there a folder or zip i can extract from HTC Sync and place it on my SD card?
That way i can have the drivers on hand to install on any pc without installing htc sync?
Hopefully im making sense

Htc sync works, but not connect as drive

I'm rather puzzled by this problem with my windows 7 laptop. Htc sync recognizes the Desire and connects (though with problems, see my other post). But the option of showing the sd card as a drive isn't available on either the phone or the computer. Is it a question of drivers? If so, where do I find one that works?
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Joe
Have you got the latest HTC syc installed?
Working on Win 7 32bit for me. Haven't tried ot on 64bit but also haven't seen anything to suggest it doesn't.
I assume you are also using the USB cable that came with it and not a different one which may only be a charge cable.
Hi i had this problem, you have to uninstall the HTC drivers from programs and let windows install via update. HTC drivers/software are poor!
htc sync works
I haven't been using the htc cable but will try it. Also will try uninstalling drivers...
Ta,
Joe
I have the same problem: I installed HTC sync (the newer version from HTC's web site) and everything works fine with synching between Outlook and the Desire. During this process I also see the new removable drive.
But, If I only mount the SD card as a hard drive nothing shows us and I have no access.
I am using the original HTC cable and as I said the synching works just fine, just not the mounting as a removable drive to gain just file access.

[Q] HTC Desire folder/files sync

Hi all,
i found a lot about syncing itunes and other stuff over cloud on desire but nothing more...but i am used to sync my nokia through phone suite with folders on my PC at work and home. HTC sync alows me to sync only contacts. I have on my SD card folder with some XLS and DOC files that after work I sync with folder on my PC, when i come home sync again with my PC at home and after i finished working with files at home, sync with phone and morning i come to work with fresh files with me, sync again with PC at work and so on... I miss this a lot, maybe a bit oldfashioned in ages of cloud but it is easier and quicker even edit files with phone on the go - and when come back to synced PC, will get fresh copy from phone onto PC.
Any other program to do this? Thanks a lot
Maybe will help somebody, i solved for now this problem. Using SyncToy 2.1 and connect Desire as DiskDrive. Then setup SyncToy 2.1 on left side my PC folders, on right side Desires SD card sync folder and thats it...

[Q] No disk drive access possible on pc in JB?

I updated to official JB and now on connecting to pc via usb it doesn't show the same notification window as ICS.
There is no option as Charge Only or Disk Drive..
Is this normal, how to allow disk drive access in this case.
You can automatically access the phone storage on both sides (pc and from phone) at the same time. AKA mtp usb storage.

Even i have the same problem. Even if we are able to access the sd card from both sides, the sd card isnt being shown on the pc. I installed htc sync manager, but that just shows your media files, not your other data. Please help out fast!
Ums made place for mtp. You can mount your sd card in recovery

I was not having Sync Manager bfore hand so, when i connected my cell, Htc Syn Manager Setup started and downloaded a file of about 106.4 Mb, installer started and after a few steps it showed an error that a CheckandRemoveOldHTCDriver could not be found..
Any guesses whats wrong in this.. I m on 32 bit Win XP.
I m badly stuck, cant transfer any files.. No Disk Drive option appears on usb pc connection, so no access to transfer files.

Some taiwanese pioneers report that it requires something from windows media player 11 too. Make sure you have these two software installed.
Alternatively, you can use newer windows to obtain simplify this problem.

I know about that.. When u connect the cell HTC Sync Manager Setup requires WMP 11 or above. I already hav 11.
Need some thing else, i have tried everything, I dont understand how can a Driver file b missing when i have run HTC Driver Installer and have downloaded the HSM setup file from HTC.com straight that too twice..
Initially the setup showed some other files missing like MS VC Redist 2005 etc, so i got them one after one then it stopped at this error...
All I wanted was to enjoy my JB but it a nightmare nw..
Remove all htc drivers.
Install the latest one from htc.
Reboot your computer
Connect the phone and let the drivers get installed.
I hope it works.

How can i remove all htc drivers, i know the device manager approach. But read sumwhere that these drivers are some times stored in system and same reverts when u connect the device..?
They have done away with usb mass storage in JB and gone to MTP storage. A decent work around is to mount with CWM recovery or TWRP recovery
Also this has been discussed before mate

I removed all drivers from device manager, then using htc sync installed the latest drivers HTC Driver Installer 3.0.0.021,
Then rebooted & connected the device.. But again same error of MTP..
I have an image of it.

Unable to mount internal storage or sd

Hey guys,
My niece has an HTC One M8 just as I do and I set up both of our phones identically when we got them... However, she is now having an issue where neither her internal storage or her sd card will mount on her PC. We have uninstalled and reinstalled HTC Sync like 5-10 times and we've tried standalone drivers, etc. She can still access the files via the phone and save files, etc...
Also, her phone does show up in device manager just like mine does... "My HTC"
Any ideas?
Try to uninstall any HTC drivers, than connect the phone. In Windows Device Manager, find the device. Select the option to manually choose the driver, then pick the generic MTP driver.
This worked for me when my PC would connect by adb/fastboot, but not read storage.

Seems to be a no go unfortunately.
Did she encrypt her data? If so, I don't think a computer can see the files now.
I've never done it, so I could be mistaken. ?

File Transfer HTC One M8 Android 6.0

Hi,
Scouring the web there seems to be inherent problems transferring data between the HTC One M8 and a PC.
I have a Mac OS X El Capitan and HTC Sync Manager does work but only after a reboot, is there a permanent fix now?
Thanks
What are you trying to transfer? I don't ever use HTC Sync Manager to transfer anything. Just select in the notifications to allow file transfer via USB, and you should be able to view the internal storage on your Mac, and copy/paste the files just using the OS.
