Speaker-Mode since repair - Desire General

I finally got my desire back from repair. Since then all my calls are on speaker at the backside of the phone and i need to push the button to get it to the "normal phone speaker"
this happens if I call someone and if someone calls me
How do i get it back to "normal"?

Try pulling the battery for a few seconds.
If this doesn't work do a hard reset.
You can also phone htc and tell them that you have this problem since the repair and ask them what should you do.
There are two other threads like yours, but they're without some definite fix.

No Phone

Hi,
Sorry if this has been posted before, can't find anything on it but not sure what I should be searching for. I've just received a replacement Orbit from O2, it boots up ok but doesn't seem to be able to get a phone signal even though I know I'm in a good signal area. Been on for about 2 hours but all I get is the searching icon. Anybody know what's wrong with it?
Thanks
just one other thing, when the phone boots up what should it show in the top left, i.e IPL/SPL/GSM/OS.
Sorry if this is obvious and redundant -
But have you tried various levels of resetting the phone from a simple power on/off all the way to a hard reset? Also, are you able to access SIM features like stored contacts?
Tried removing battery/sim/sd card soft reset. Just tried restoring from SPB backup and now device gets stuck at the green "Direct Push Technology" screen. What keys do a hard reset?
Cheers
Hold down the two 'soft keys' they are the ones directly to the left and right of the chrome wheel towards the top are of it. Keep holding them down while you use your stylus to press the resessed reset button on the bottom left side of the phone. Keep holding the soft keys until the phone displays a message for you to confirm by pushing the green 'talk' key. this will put your phone back into the smae state it was when it was new in the box, you will have to do the screen aligning and all that BS....
Hopefully this works for you. Otherwise I would suspect faulty hardware.
Send it back..if it's a replacement then it too is fubar and you shouldn't try and "fix" it...ring them from a landline and tell them to drop a new unit and collect the "replacement".
Why not try and 'fix' it? Thats half the purpose of this board. I know the company is liable for sending a defective unit, but if he can get it working on his own then more power to him.
Agreed....but I too have had a "replacement" orbit from O2 which had more problems then the one I sent back...I think they "recycle" the returned phones when they consider them fixed!! That is only reason to send it back...after that come here and learn how to make it sing !!
Cheers for the help people, rang O2 and it turned out it was a refurb and had been blocked off the network. Do have one other issue with it, when I receive a text and try to reply its trying to send as an email. Rang O2 and they didn't know how to sort it, anyone here know?
Thanks

my Desire reboots on call close !!

Hi everybody...
yesterday i was sitting at my desk with my Desire in standby...
suddenly i heard a vibration and i noticed that the phone was rebooting....
i thought that was "normal instability"...and i continued working...
some minutes later i received a phone call, i answered and i spoke normally....when it was time to end the call, like always, i touch the red button on screen to close the call and BUM !!!
my phone rebooted himself.....
from that moment every call ending , done by me or received, cause a reboot of my Desire....
i' ve already called HTC tech support for assistance, but, prior to send the phone to the repair center, i would like to know from you "experts" if this problem can be a "software related" problem or it is for sure an "hardware problem"...
obviously i've already performed an HARD reset of the phone (either by the provacy menu and by the HBOOT menu) and nothing has changed...
last thing....my phone has 7 days of life....SIGH
thank's in advance for your help

[Q] My desire making huge problems

I have a six months old desire (still under guaranty), not rooted, with froyo.
Lattely it it doing some weird things:
- randomly (once a day) the phone freezes, so i have to push home button after that happens and the phone goes to stand by, i cant wake it- the buttons lights up but the screen stays dark (i have to take out the battery to restsrt the phone)
-sometimes my phone isnt ringing when someone is calling
Can someone please help me, what should i do (should i root and try another ROM or sent it into repair?).
tank you
First try a normal factory reset. If the problem is gone you can root or keep using it unrooted. If the problem is still there just send it to repair.
I have already tried a factory reset and it is the same. Does that mean it is a hardware problem?
Would say so, if it's unrooted there is no other real reason for these problems. You can try to see if a custom rom fixes it but I wouldn't try to fix a phone still under warranty by breaking the warranty. Just send it back to HTC unless you can't miss your phone for a month.
Could it be possible that my sd card is causing the problems?
yesterday i have inserted another sd card and the phone seems working fine now.
I tried running the card i previous had in the phone on my computer ani it did not work ( didnt even find it).
So im wondering if the card was fault for the desire behaving weird? I gues i will have to wait for a couple of days and see what happens.
What do you guys think?
Sounds exactly the same as mine. I had to remove battery once a day due to freezing, missed so many calls.
Tried rom upgrades, factory resets, new SD card, still the same.
Finally sent it to HTC UK service who replaced the mainboard, all good now.
Phone was returned in less than a week, really happy with their service.
Same here sent it to repair got a new main board and all is good. HTC repair is better than most
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

[Q] reboot when receiving calls

After almost a year long battle against the repair center and my HD2, I recently received a brand new HTC Desire. The phone is working fine, except for the really annoying reboot which happened already 3 times while receiving calls. On the 3 occasions the phone got stuck once I slided the bar to accept the call. The screen freezes and then it reboots (just once and not on a loop which apparently is more likely to happen with the desire). The repair center advised to perform a hard reset and if the problem persists, they want me to send it back to install a new rom.
Anybody got a similar issue or a solution that will allow me to keep my phone?
Cheers
will send it back for repairs. Probably a mainboard issue like the more common reboot issue
Thanks anyway
Happened to me on a custom ROM. Changed the kernel and the problem was gone.
Thanks for the tip man, but the phone has this problem out of the box, with factory settings. So I am guessing that this rules out a kernel problem. Or I just hope cos if every machine they sell has this issue, boy they are gonna be busy on the helpdesk
The phone came back from HTC repair with a new board and guess what... I still have the same problem. frak me right?
Anybody have any theory before I completely go bonkers?

Phone Speaker Issues after Flashing Stock ROM

I got the dreaded bootloop issue a while back and had to send my phone to LG for repair. After I got the phone back (damaged from them opening it); the phone would crash once a day. It would be a hard crash too, nothing including the power button and volume buttons would work. I would need to hold down power+volume for 10 sec. to do a hard reboot.
I decided to reinstall the factory operating system that I downloaded from Google . Ever since the then the volume coming through the main phone speaker is very quiet during phone calls. I have to mash the phone against my head and plug the other ear to hear anything. I can't find a good answer to what might have happened. And I don't think it would be a hardware issue since it started immediately after flashing the stock ROM. I've flashed it twice now and it still has the same issue.
I just used the "flash-all.bat" command to do it. Could there be an issue with the radio.img file or something else I'm missing entirely?
Side Note - I had to pay LG to fix it because they said it wasn't under warranty. Even after the customer service guy told me that they would fix it for free when I talked to them on the phone. It took them about 4 months to send my money back.
