So I've had my G2 since a week or so after release. It has always shown some lag and/or freeze problems right after unlocking the screen (both before and after the OTA). However, today is the first day that while I was out, I unlocked the phone, it froze, and rebooted!
Now, I know this is a known issue (one that was supposedly fixed by the OTA), but what puzzles me is why the reboot problem *now*? The one interesting thing is that Tmobile launched HSPA+ in my area today...any connection?
Thanks.

So I'm having an issue that is starting to drive me nuts. I have 2 Defys. One is my work phone, one is personal. My work one has been fine for 2.5 months. This prompted me to get one for personal use. However within the last week I have started having issues with both of them randomly rebooting. Always within 10-15 seconds of each other. Work one is original rom, factory reset, unrooted. Personal one is rooted, .360 update, and a bunch of apps. On my to work and back home I can always get them to do this. I get a beep, no service notification, and then approx 2 minutes later they reboot. during this time they are extremely unresponsive. Already called TMobile thinking it was a tower issue, but all checks out well on their end. It's driving me nuts. Has anybody had this issue, or know how to solve it. I don't think its the phones. On wifi they run fine all day long.
Have you tried the newer uicc SIM? Was told by the pda team I should switch over. I told them I was experiencing a reception issue. Since both your phones have gone nuts at about the same time it's either service or aliens. You might try one sim swap and see if it helps.
Both of them are brand new sims right from the box. From what I've gathered they already are the newer sims.
Let me share my experience about random reboots. I had also put it up in here but didnt get much response.
I narrowed down after a lot of experimenting that the reboot happens because of one issue - "The phone tries to reconnect to data network while there is very low signal and suddenly goes into a boot"
It somehow boggled me for months on how this could happen only to me when none of the users in this forum had anything like that. I changed the phone too. But the reboot continues. I got an app called Shutupbattery which can automatically switch off data network when network strength is below a certain limit (i set it at -102dbm). This seems to have slightly impacted the rebooting process. I see some improvement but also not satisfied with this app. It still does not completely shut off the data network on the cut off value and hence the phone does manage to reboot again.
I am trying a few combinations of values and seeing if I can arrive at a conclusion. Let me know if this was useful. For me this is something like a deal breaker and I am feeling of giving up the phone or changing the service provider.
I can tell you for a fact that it has to do with signal strength and data. However 4 days after I discussed this with TMobile Tier 2 support, they dispatched techs to the tower and since then...no more issues. The few other towers I have had issues with I've done the same thing and all of a sudden the problem disappears. I've been very happy with the support. Better than ATT ever did. I suspect it has to do with their implementation of 4G. I've noticed when it does this I get a momentary connection to HSPA before the phone drops back to UMTS then GPRS. You can get to this menu bu going to *#*#4636#*#* . Otherwise call Tmobile.
Hello,
Since the Kit Kat update, I keep having Sim Errors: the phone randomly no longer detects the sim card and says no sim inserted - which is a pain because it looses cellular connectivity. Rebooting generally fixes it (until the next error).
It first started happening when I got a refurb from Tmobile (unrooted stock 4.4.2) was quite annoying because it was happening quite often (like every hour or so), I got a new phone from Tmobile (still refurd - can't get a new one from them - oh and it's my 4th one). Rooted it, installed Dandvdh's KOT49H 4.4.2 and it started doing it again (but less often) - so I got a new Sim but it's still happening.
Found a couple of forums reporting the same issue (ATT version https://forums.att.com/t5/Android-D...IM-card-error-post-kitkat-update/td-p/3910878 or other http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...-sim-card-error-other-bugs-kitkat-update.html), but nothing on tmobile GS4 so my question is, has any one experienced this, and if so, have you found a fix?
Cheers
EDIT: did some more reading, and it's apparently a common problem for ATT and Rogers GS4, seems to be heat related.

I know this probably has been posted before, but all my searching has only lead to cold, dead links and questions that didn't get full answers or didn't help me. I got a brand spankin' new GNex through my Verizon warranty because of the charge port issue. I unlocked and rooted it, all smoothly since I've done it with this phone before, and chose Paranoid Android 4.6 beta 4, then upgraded to beta 5 (which came out the night I installed 4). Almost everything worked smoothly, even (knock on wood) GPS, though it was sometimes slow and my location history shows it doesn't seem to update as often (probably because lock is slow, but anyway). I wasn't sure if LTE is an issue because in my smallish town, 4g tends to be pretty spotty (an iPhone at my house in the middle of downtown gets 3g, but 3 miles out we get 4g).
The one issue that keeps nagging me is MMS. I can't send 99.9% of the time (after continued attempts, one actually sent one time even though it didn't acknowledge on my phone) and I can't receive at all. I found a few potential fixes, but the files were taken down or I, being a bit of an android noob still, didn't understand them. Has anybody fixed MMS on their Kitkat rom? I was using Shiny on the old warrantied phone with no issues, but want a rom with features and customization.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Have you tried updating your profile and prl?
Hey guys, been a while. Anyway I had my HTC 10 replaced under warranty a month or so back. The replacement I go, I keep getting disconnected after a day or so. So what happens is I can use the phone and all, but Mobile Data appears to break, as if I disconnect WIFI Mobile Data shows Disconnected. ONly way to get it back online to to reboot the phone.
This has been happening more frequently, every day I am ending up having to reboot since I cannot send any text messages.
Any suggestions? Is this a common issue with HTC 10? I'm on Tmobile USA Network. I never had any issues before with other phone (M8, M7, iPhone), and signal is great.
Just started happening to me....Was fine until this week.. Tmobile user also...S-on Viper10 rom.
Yes. Was it after the recent update?
Btw, either turning mobile data off/on or airplane mode fixes it.
So it's from the recent update? It's happening more and more frequent to the point I keep restarting my phone multiple times in a day. Also, the Airplane mode on/off doesn't bring back the data back online, even turning mobile data on/off or even switching the network mode doe not help.
Btw, my HTC10 fully stock, non rooted.
OK a new update just came in for my phone. Ran it, and monitoring how it goes. i will update thread if that update fixes the issue.
It hasn't happened to me since 1.8 update. Using leedroid.

Looks like the update that was pushed yesterday by TMO US fixed the issue, as I have not encountered the issue yet after the update.
Scrap that. Issue reoccured, although not as frequently....
To fix this I had to go into developer options and checked keep data on.
Hello
I've had this phone for a few months now and over all it's been a great device. Only issue is, it doesn't seem super compatible with the UK network - Three. When I got the device I had to manually set it up for my SIM, it wasn't able to fetch the correct settings. I sometimes get poor netrwork connectivity issues with the data, but turning off the data radio and back on again seems to fix this.
My issue is that my phone frequently randomly soft resets itself, or switches out of an app im using or locks the device. It's really perculiar and I don't know what causes it. My hunch however, is some kind of network issue, as weird as that may sound.
I took it to Colombia for a couple of weeks and whilst I was there I didn't have any of these issues. It was the same SIM but it was using a local Colombian network. I can't recall which one. Yet as soon as I'm back in the UK, it doesn't have this issue...
I've spoke to the seller and they are happy for me to return and to replace / repair, however I just want to check if there is a simple fix for this issue. I'm currently using the device without my sim in, to test if this is the issue. Has anyone had similar experience or could theorise why I'm having this issue?
TIA
