Hello,
Since the Kit Kat update, I keep having Sim Errors: the phone randomly no longer detects the sim card and says no sim inserted - which is a pain because it looses cellular connectivity. Rebooting generally fixes it (until the next error).
It first started happening when I got a refurb from Tmobile (unrooted stock 4.4.2) was quite annoying because it was happening quite often (like every hour or so), I got a new phone from Tmobile (still refurd - can't get a new one from them - oh and it's my 4th one). Rooted it, installed Dandvdh's KOT49H 4.4.2 and it started doing it again (but less often) - so I got a new Sim but it's still happening.
Found a couple of forums reporting the same issue (ATT version https://forums.att.com/t5/Android-D...IM-card-error-post-kitkat-update/td-p/3910878 or other http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...-sim-card-error-other-bugs-kitkat-update.html), but nothing on tmobile GS4 so my question is, has any one experienced this, and if so, have you found a fix?
Cheers
EDIT: did some more reading, and it's apparently a common problem for ATT and Rogers GS4, seems to be heat related.

So I've had my G2 since a week or so after release. It has always shown some lag and/or freeze problems right after unlocking the screen (both before and after the OTA). However, today is the first day that while I was out, I unlocked the phone, it froze, and rebooted!
Now, I know this is a known issue (one that was supposedly fixed by the OTA), but what puzzles me is why the reboot problem *now*? The one interesting thing is that Tmobile launched HSPA+ in my area today...any connection?
Thanks.

Hi
I've had my Desire HD for about 9 months now and have rooted it and been running Android Revolution HD. I have been running version 5.2.6 for a couple of months without hassles.
This morning my phone lost reception and wouldn't regain signal with out restarting the phone. Then about 5 minutes later it lost signal again, so I restarted it again and then this time it rebooted and said there was no SIM card. So I pulled out the SIM, blew it out and put back in and it worked, for 5 or so minutes.
I haven't done any updates or downloaded any apps or changed any settings between yesterday evening, when it was working perfectly, and now.
I thought perhaps an upgrade would solve the issue if it was software-related, so I did a nandroid backup and Titanium Backup and installed the new Android Revolution HD 6.1.3 - which looks awesome! But unfortunately the problem remains.
Sometimes I reset and it works for 5 minutes, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it shows the no SIM error. Sometimes turning it off for a few minutes and restarting it regains the signal, but it inevitably drops again.
I've had a bit of a Google and it seems some others have had similar problems with the Desire HD, but all the discussions are a bit vague and I couldn't be sure my problem is the same as another's. Some suggested replacing the SIM card, most ended up having their phone replaced by Vodafone. I thought perhaps the Vodafone Australia update had run itself and that had caused the problem, but then again the update was released in August (which I didn't install).
I'm hoping someone else with a DesireHD has had a similar problem or anyone has some ideas I could try.
If I have no luck I suppose I'll have to return the phone to original firmware and take it in for repair.
Thanks alot to all the developers on here who've enabled me to enjoy my Desire HD way more than if I was still stuck in Stock ROM land, I hope you can be of some assistance to me!
Cheers, Bickers
have you tried to change the radio??
I was using the radio supplied with android revolution HD. And now using the new radio supplied with the 6.1.3 version.
The problem is still occuring, but today its alot less frequent. I've only restarted my phone twice in about 4 hours use. Perhaps it could be an intermittent hardware fault?
Are there any known faults with the DHD?

so I have noticed SEVERAL threads about the 'out of service area' error people have been getting and I haven't seen any resolution, and I recently experienced it myself. After 2 days of tinkering, I found the reason and resolution. After updating to 4.4.2 via LG FlashTool (I was rooted and even after full unroot and master reset AT&T still wouldn't let me OTA) I was only getting 4G and not LTE like in 4.1.2. So I fixed that in the hidden service menu 3845#*980# and forced LTE. Everything was working great until I got the dreaded out of service area error. Not thinking about what I did 2 days ago, I called AT&T thinking it was a network error. I replaced the sim and was about to do a warranty exchange when it dawned on me that I had forced the LTE. After switching back to Automatic, everything was back to normal except I'm only getting 4G. So for anyone having this error, I have attached some screenshots of how I fixed it and hopefully it will help you too! NOTE: If you have a variant of the AT&T version, eg: 988, make sure you enter 3845#*988# in the dial pad or it won't come up!
EDIT: I have also noticed a great increase in battery life as well!
Have not used the GNex (Verizon) for over a year and a half. Always kept it as a back-up phone just in case, The other day a family member's phone crapped out and asked if they could borrow the GNex. I said sure. Booted it up without a SIM and WiFi is not working, it is greyed out. I figured it was on an old ROM so I updated TWRP and did a full wipe and installed a new 4.4 ROM. Still no WiFi, it's still greyed out. Got it to turn on a few times and it says searching but nothing happens. Put a old SIM (not activated) in the phone and it see's the SIM but still no WiFi, still greyed out. I have NO idea what's wrong as everything worked when I last used the phone. I actually used the phone over WiFi a few times in the past when I turned it on (without SIM) for the kids to use to watch videos and stuff.
Thanks

Hi Buddy,
I am also facing this same issue.
Have u figured out its reason ?
I think its Radio or Baseband issue.
I am not completely sure if that can happen to the Galaxy Nexus too, but I remember the Galaxy S having the problem with losing the radio file after flashing, so you had to backup it. Maybe you can find some more information on this, I had a quick google and got back pages, that I didn't expect Anyways, maybe your radio file is lost and you can obtain it somewhere, it's just a spontaneous idea.
I have a very weird problem on my S3 and I have looked everywhere and I can't figure out what's wrong.
I have a stock unrooted S3 on 4.4.2. Recently I took the phone overseas and had it unlocked, I don't know quite how the person unlocked it, but when I got it back it was having a lot of problems. All my Data was wiped, but still unrooted but showing many errors. I was having an error every time I opened my contacts saying android.process.acore has stopped. I was also having trouble getting signal with a local sim card, at the time I thought it was some setting I didn't know about or that it was the network that was messed up. Then when I got home I continued to have with my at&t network, always showing no signal and no data, when I did have signal it would cut out in a few min and when I got Data it was only 2g.
So what I did was install a stock rooted rom that I had been using before, this rom took care of a lot of the errors but wifi doesn't work on it, so I had to install a kernel which was verson 3.4.0-g2d4cae8 ktoonsez, this took care of the wifi problem.
Then I looked around a lot for reasons that my network wasn't working. One potential problem was APN, I checked that and mine was correct. There was also a problem listed with IMEI and that was fine on my phone too. Then I finally found that sometimes you can reinstal NV items and that can fix your network issues. So I found a site that had NV items to fix LTE and flashed that on my phone through odin. That actually took care of my network issue! I can get network now and get LTE, luckily saving my phone from being completely useless.
Now I have a completely diff issue and I don't know if I'm missing something similar to that to fix it.
What happens is that I constantly only have 1 signal bar, then when I start making a call or send a text I all of a sudden have 4 or 5 bars. So I have signal, but somehow its not registering properly. I would be okay with this considering my phone is at least letting me make calls even though it takes a bit longer to connect, but the problem is that it's been heating up a lot and the battery has been dying 3 times a day when it used to last an entire day. Looking up this problem I found that this problem is common when you have no signal. Also when I think when I am closer to a tower then my phone has 3 bars most of the time and the battery lasts longer, aka when I was in downtown Houston I only had to charge my phone once during the day as opposed to 2 times.
Anyone have any Idea how I might be able to fix this problem. My mom had her phone unlocked the same way but she is still on official stock rom with root, and is having the same problem, so I'm pretty sure it was the unlocking process and something similar to the NV items. Maybe I needed to install a whole NV items file instead of just the LTE segment? Sorry this was so long, and maybe rambling. Let me know if you guys need any more information.
