Have not used the GNex (Verizon) for over a year and a half. Always kept it as a back-up phone just in case, The other day a family member's phone crapped out and asked if they could borrow the GNex. I said sure. Booted it up without a SIM and WiFi is not working, it is greyed out. I figured it was on an old ROM so I updated TWRP and did a full wipe and installed a new 4.4 ROM. Still no WiFi, it's still greyed out. Got it to turn on a few times and it says searching but nothing happens. Put a old SIM (not activated) in the phone and it see's the SIM but still no WiFi, still greyed out. I have NO idea what's wrong as everything worked when I last used the phone. I actually used the phone over WiFi a few times in the past when I turned it on (without SIM) for the kids to use to watch videos and stuff.
Thanks

Hi Buddy,
I am also facing this same issue.
Have u figured out its reason ?
I think its Radio or Baseband issue.
I am not completely sure if that can happen to the Galaxy Nexus too, but I remember the Galaxy S having the problem with losing the radio file after flashing, so you had to backup it. Maybe you can find some more information on this, I had a quick google and got back pages, that I didn't expect Anyways, maybe your radio file is lost and you can obtain it somewhere, it's just a spontaneous idea.

My 3 month old galaxy nexus lost the ability to connect to the cell network, wifi and bluetooth are fine but when i scan for an apn it errors out, and i can not add an apn manually. i followed the thread to bring the phone back to factory defaults and re locked it like it was going back for warranty and that did not help, so it has the factory radio, bootloader, recovery and os 4.0.2 on it now.
do i have a $600 paper weight now? has anyone ever heard of this happening?
More than likely a SIM error if you've restored to stock and it still happens. Do you have another device or SIM to swap and test?
the sim is now in my blackberry torch that i have as a back up phone and working, even with out a sim in it there is no notice on the screen that says please insert sim card, but i am not sure if thats normal or not.
looking at the *#*#4636#*#* screen the radio keeps going from emergency calls only to radio off and back again.
edit: it does say no sim inserted, but its only on the lock screen so i missed it.
so looks like i am screwed with this phone, the store i bought it off the guy is freaking out saying why did you root it, (he keeps calling it jailbreaking) why didn't you just leave it alone, my response is why did you put those rims on your car, why did you change your desktop wallpaper, what can i say, i love AOKP rom.
but this is a hardware related problem, i put the stock radio and everything back to stock so what else could it be but hardware?
has no one ever heard of this problem with a gsm galaxy nexus?
The only time I saw this issue someone flashed the AOKP tablet rom.

You are not the only one buddy. I am just south of Chicago and mine hasn't worked for over a week. I have full signal bars, but 7/8 of the time it reads that I'm not connected to the mobile network (as in my signal bars hardly ever turn blue). Even if it looks as if I have a connection EVERYTHING just times out. I haven't had the nerve to send it back to Singapore for a repair. The only reason I even own this phone is due to my drug abusing postal carrier inputting they delivered my GS2 and then simply didn't. Without signature verification its just a he said/ she said.
So my phone lost connectivity yesterday around 5pm. I though nothing of it at first, but then a few hours later it still was not able to connect to any mobile networks. I am unable to call, text or do anything with data for that matter. I tried the sim in my old trusty G1 and everything worked.
I called tech suppport and they refreshed my sim. I went through all of there troubleshooting non sense. The verdict? Warranty exchange...but wait....they are out of stock and have no estimated time of when they will be available.
Has anyone else heard of a phone suddenly losing all ability to get on a mobile network? I have been on the internet researching the issue for hours now and have tried everything I have come across, but no luck.
1. Left the battery and sim out of the phone overnight
2. Numerous airplane mode toggles
3. Connecting headphones
4. Phone Info menu and turning radio off/on + trying different radio settings
5. Reflashing radios
6. Flashing different roms
7. Odin back to stock 2.3.6 with wiping of everything
I am thinking I have been defeated by the galaxy s2.

Its scary how often this has happening...your probably the 5th person on xda who had this happen to them that i saw...Your efs folder probably got corrupt somehow and there is now way to restore that. You're going to need a get a warranty replacement...

I have read about that happening before, just don't know why it would have happened out of nowhere. Chalking it up as stuff happens.

I bet you were fiddling around with radios huh? I messed around flashing alternate radios to mine and my girl's phone and her phone was having this issue. Nothing would fix it, good thing I created a nandroid backup because all issues were fixed after I flashed back.

No...I wasnt doing anything to the phone. I had been running the same rom for about two weeks and was enjoying the luxury of amazing battery life.
While I was browsing the net on my phone, it lost signal...since then it hasn't returned.
I did do a warranty exchange so hopefully I will have a working device soon.
If anyone is feeling that their Galaxy S2 is slow, then just use a g1 for a day

I got a brand new in box galaxy s2 from t-mobile
$5 is all it cost me. Today is a good day.
Date on box 3/20/12
Made in China
My old galaxy s2 never did gain the ability to reconnect to the network...so strange. Happened on its own.
Hello all!
I am having constant data issues all day where I go to use an app that needs it, it says that no data connection can be found or something. I turn the radio off, turn it back on and then it works. It's a good work-around but it does get very annoying. I've tried multiple 4.4.2 roms but no avail. I tried a different kernel but I couldn't even use the phone. Any ideas?
Same for me; I'm rooted now but it happened before root and after the JB ota updates. Annoying but otherwise I love this phone
I think this has been a known issue since ICS (I could be wrong though).
If anyone knows a fix that would be cool (I have GSM google play gnex)
My issues started late last night, lost data connection and it didn't come back. On my way home, it connected then lost again at home. Went to Verizon today and they couldn't figure it out, said possibly the radio is taking a crap.
On my way to work, it connects then gone. I tried flashing the radio, pulled battery, booted without sim, formatted cache and delvic. I have tried everything and think it's the end of the line for it
I've been rooted since the day I got it and had the issue once a while back but it straightened out and has been great since.
Certain CyanogenMod ROMs have trouble with the Network Modes sticking. Which carrier are you using? For my carrier, I had to have the correct APNs set to get 4G and MMS working. It might be that this is the problem in most cases, especially when the phone switches between 4G and 3G in spotty areas.
I just got an LG G3 last friday (Black Friday) on T-Mobile (got tired of Sprint). Anyway for the most part this phone has been great. A minor glitch with a game (possibly from porting it's data over from my S3). The main problem I have is with the WiFi.
First off WiFi calling sucks. If I don't have 3 or more bars on my WiFi connection the call gets fuzzy. During one call that was clear it just randomly dropped. So that isn't cool.
Secondly, if I connect to a WiFi network at home or work or where-ever and then go somewhere else and come back or go to another place with a network I want to connect to it won't connect at all. It will show all the networks and give me the option to connect. But instead of connecting it will try to connect for a long while and then just give up. I cannot get connected again until I reboot.
I have tried the suggestions found on this thread (and other places): http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/lg-g3-wifi-issues-t2829811
No luck with those suggestions. Which include the following:
Turn off and back on the wifi radio.
Disabling the "wifi signal is weak" option.
Disabling the battery saving for wifi.
Forgetting the network (my network list was automatically imported from my Google account).
Installing the "WiFi Manager" app and enabling the 5GHz channels (US) and changing 2.4GHz channels to "Complete".
Made sure that "Internet unavailable" option is disabled.
Made sure that "Keep Wi-Fi on when screen is off" is set to "Yes".
Disabling NFC.
Disabling BlueTooth.
Disabling Wi-Fi calling.
I don't have problems with a weak signal. So I am perplexed. My Samsung Galaxy S3 worked just fine on these networks. Restarting always seems to allow me to connect again. But I shouldn't have to restart every time I want to connect to WiFi.
All of my other wireless devices connect just fine in the household (a PS3, my fiance's Moto X, my old S3, MacBook Pro, Lenovo Windows 8 laptop, an HP running Ubuntu 14.10, and another Lenovo running Ubuntu 13.04).
Why is an older model phone doing so much better than the G3? Both phones are rooted (old and new). Does anyone have a fix? My phone is currently running LG's factory rom "D85110m". That is with Android 4.4.2 (my old S3 is on a cyanogen rom of the 4.4.x series as well).
Please help me fix this. Otherwise I might return it for an S5.
Thanks!
**** Update ****
Per my below post, it seems I have fixed my problem. I ended up doing two factory resets, unrooted, and did a final factory reset to fix the problem. Then I switched to the PurpleDrake method to root it the second time (and it worked really well without any issues).
Good luck everyone!
**** End of Update ****
Try to factory reset the phone. I don't know what version you are on but I assume its 10m

It is on 10m. Do I need to unroot before I do the factory reset? I have never had to do one before.
So it appears that doing a factory reset does not fix it. I guess I am taking it back and having them replace it. And I will demand it be a brand new one since I just got this phone a little over a week ago.
SOLVED!!!!
Ok, so I finally got it fixed. Albeit accidentally as I didn't expect it to be fixed at this point.
Here is what I ended up doing:
Two factory resets.
Unrooted the phone (via these instructions: http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html).
One last factory reset at T-Mobile store by me (because they forced me to).
The wifi did not start working correctly again until after that very last factory reset that I did. The unroot process also does a factory reset. But, and this may be key, it downgraded my phone to 10c from 10m in the process. I then did an OTA to 10m after the final reset.
I unrooted it because T-Mobile's diag software detected it was rooted and said that made the warranty invalid. And after I unrooted it I took the phone back to the store and demonstrated the problem to the employee that sold me the phone in the first place. He tested it for about 10 minutes and came to the same conclusion as myself. He then had to go to his manager to approve the replacement.
They got out the new phone to replace it with then the manage told me that he was required to have us to one more factory reset. So I went into the settings on the phone and did one last reset. And for some reason, since this point, the wifi problem has gone away.
I think it is possible that something I did to the phone caused the problem in the first place. But since I did so much to it in the first few days (rooted and installed a ton of apps) I am not entirely sure. My two current theories are it was either caused by this malware infected flashlight app I installed that kept popping up the Play Store to install a particular app. Or it was caused by the rooting method I used.
The original rooting method I used was "Stump Root". So the second time around I used the PurpleDrake method. This is a tiny bit more tedious, but very effective and it didn't seem to break anything. Further, when I installed TWRP I made sure that I grabbed the recommended image for it that is specifically for the US T-Mobile LG G3 device and installed that using Flashify.
After I got it safely rooted I tested the crud out of it and it seems to be working fine.
One last thought. It is possible that somehow Titanium backup caused the problem when I restored text and call logs. But I seriously doubt it.
Anyway, if anyone has any questions for me about this please shoot me a message. I am more than happy to help.
Thanks,
Patrick
Look i normally dont ask for to much help ive been around a bit know more then the average bear. I also fix hardware.
My problem is my data radio will not switch on from any attempt:
Attempted solutions:
Dialed
*#*#4636#*#*
Will not switch on from that screen
Did the obvious and switched on and off airplane mode
Replaced the entire build.prop file with a very stock build.prop after flashing stock jelly bean
Repeated steps for all stock firmware
Newest attempt wiped the entire system partition through recovery forcefully bricking the phone. I have now flashed the original stock e980 stock 10p tot file still no luck
My phone is completely unlocked fully rooted.
I've replaced the data permission files.
And I know its not the SIM card because the SIM card is in the phone I'm using right now which is an LG g2 unlocked which is for sale by the way.
And if it is a hardware problem I have not found any related video or thread to help me find an exchange where the radio is on this thing
Help me please if anybody has any idea?
Cool no help, hey moderator can u move this to thread that may get more help that would be awesome
i came looking around here because my g pros radio stopped working sometime last night while i was asleep and was about to make a thread asking for help, but seeing as how you haven't got much i doubt i would either. but ill give you a little info on mine, will it help you out at all? not sure. but i know it might make me feel a little better.
I flashed Vanir 4.4.4 last week coming from Beanstalk 4.4.4 cause beanstalk was getting buggy from all the ugly mods i subjected it to. so all was well with Vanir till i woke up this morning and had no service, no calls, no network, AND even if i connected to a wifi network it seemed that i couldn't get any data from it. I tried flashing madmacks modem cause who knows, maybe thatll help, but it diddnt. So then i flashed a different kernel and changed TCP protocols cause who ****ing knows, but it did nothing. THEN i restored my older Beanstalk 4.4.4 backup sure that it would work flawlessly but guess what, same problem. Now that im back on Beanstalk i went to the "Network Operators" option under "Mobile network settings" and selected ATT, which is my service provider, i can now make calls and texts but still no data, when i did this on Vanir it did not help. So i started messing with my "preferred network type" and realized i have data on 2G, but not 3G or LTE. Im gonna take a wild guess and say that maybe if you flash your phone back to 100% stock your radio should start working again, as much as i dont want to, i might end up doing that as well.
tl:dr
similar problem, i dont really know ****, easiest option = go back to stock, hope it works.
@Fant0m3 @alb-o
Have you guys checked if your rom shows your imei?
I have had this problem twice. My IMEI disappeared and I don't know how.
Your symptoms match.
If that's the case you could take it to a repair shop and they'll fix it in a minute or two. Or, you can check around xda.
thats a good point, when i was looking around XDA earlier i saw a few mentions of it but diddnt see anything very specific and was late for class so diddnt have time to look for too long. strangely enough mine actually started working normally again after i kept switching from 2G to 3G to LTE, which is great. but if i would've known that info earlier i could have checked if my IMEI disappeared while my radio still wasn't working, i assume it probably did.
after searching around more i found this thread that talks about it and how to prevent it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1857054
thanks for the help g0at1, hopefully this helps out the OP if he hasn't already fixed the problem, or anyone else that comes across this.
nope
I've flashed back stock numerous times even flashed other versions such as e988 and back again if u dint know how to do that just change your build number in your build prop file...I've tried everything I am downt to antenna cable SIM reader or cell radio.. If radio I might as well just give up cause I can't find one for sell anywhere...I'm not so pressed as I'm using the LG g2 and it's so fast stable and a bit slimmer I think I'm gonna keep it but I would like to fix it and sell it though...... My symptoms are mentioned and all tried fixes are there. Imei is read carrier is not WiFi is received but there is an X above the data bars phone is fully unlocked as well
This may help also but it does not read my imei when the SIM is not in hmm maybe I will rework the imei code and get back if that works. I will keep updated when fixed and with solution
