Hi,
Does anyone know where HTC gets the list of places from for the built-in weather app?
I'm trying to add Calais and Le Touquet (both of which are in the default iPhone weather app) but they are not available on the HTC app, grrr.

I'm finding this strangely limiting as well. Letting the weather app find my location works flawlessly, but if I try and enter those same locations which it found, there's nothing there... wierd.
please search before creating a new thread, there are several existing posts about this issue & what HTC have said in reply.

Well I've just trawled through 19 pages and I'm none the wiser....
I turned it off, because it doesnt have any smaller locations, and the clock thing on the front screen. Kept getting in the way, opening the weather thing whenever you got a finger close to it and having two clocks on the same screen looked stupid...
JAmes.

Both of those locations appear to be included within Weatherbug, which I've been trying out as I couldn't find a place in the HTC app for a forecast and also I wanted to specify locations rather than current location. Firstly I know what the weather is doing in my current location and secondly it was just generating extra traffic whilst out and about.
I don't think Weatherbug is as easy on the eye, but it has a choice of widgets and is far more informative, so worth a look at the freebie version imho.
Did any of you receive yesterday some notifications from HTC Hub (two green HTC icons) that some widgets and addons are available?
After I tapped the notifications, I couldn't find any new HTC widgets, but I landed on a page with the choice to download Picasa and LinkedIn for Sense. I tried to install LinkedIn, it all seemed fine, but no changes to were made to Sense. I guess the installation failed. I was kicked out of that add-on page too.
Afterwards, I couldn't find those two add-ons anymore in HTC Hub. Anyone else experienced this? Can I still install those two in any way, or should we just wait for HTC to publish them again?
Linkedin should reflect in the contacts and FriendStream. Picasa is supposed to be in the gallery but it seems to be not working.
Try clearing the HTC hub app data and cache then resync. The notifications should appear again.

it seems that both plugins are now in "HTC Likes", but again I can't manage to install Picasa Web Album.
I'll try cleaning the data and resync. But those apps didn't appear in HTC Likes for me yet, I only have the 4-5 HTC widgets that were there from the beginning (and other apps from other providers).
Have exactly the same problem. LinkedIn installation failed in middle, had to remove it later one hence it was reporting status like "not installed, or missing files". Picasa one was not possible to download at all.
Now I can't find any of those. Will try to check the HTCLike and let you know if that works.
Tried, no success. The plugins are there, but nothing happens. Try to cleaned the cache as well.
Was anyone successfull installing at least one of those?
I was able to install "LinkedIn for HTC Sense".
- LinkedIn contacts sync-ed in People app
- LinkedIn updates in FriendStream
- Post updates to LinkedIn via FriendStream
For "Picasa Web Album", I raised a ticket to HTC. I got a stupid response:
--- start
Dear [...],
Picasa Web Albums is not from HTC and there maybe some problems with its server. We would advise you wait patiently for the server back to work again.
Regards,
HTC
--- end
A real "nonSense".
Having the same picasa issue here as well.
After the system update I have both plug-ins installed and working. I don't remember if I actually installed them myself or they were already there.
Very excited by the LinkedIn feed in Friendstream! We don't yet have a robust LinkedIn app (beta version is a first step, but it's very basic and DroidIn UI is a bit fugly) so this is perfect.
Same problem
I have the same issues as darthmelk had before the update. Now, after installing the update, the problem still exists. Anyone else? And any ideas how to fix this?
On my Desire Z i have a HTC Widget called "HTC News" which i use a lot to get my news.
However the 17th of December at 1:48PM this widget/app decided to stop working.
I havent received any news since this time. If i tap update in the htc news app it just dosnt get anything, like there haven't been any news since that day. The Apps settings is set to update everytime the app open up and every 30 minuttes. If i do a sync it dosnt get anything either.
If i however add some new RSS it is working inside the app but not on the widget. The widget just loads forever..
I know the RSS links are correct as they work on my Google Reader which they've been importet from. They have also worked for about two weeks before this startet happening.
Anybody else experiencing something like it? Or even better - knows a solution to it?

Delete / re-add widget?
Allready tried that
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Yeah -- I think its just not that well-written of an app/widget.
I tried reinstalling, and likewise it still refused to update. then I tried clearing out the user data -- now when I add the widget it just goes to the Subscription window and sits on Loading.... forever.
Removed and now I'm using the android "news and weather" widget.
Can anyone confirm if HTC one X has the device finder feature like the desire HD?
I cannot locate the device finder feature under Settings>Location
Is it my device that is missing this feature or has HTC removed it entirely from the one X?
I searched the forums here on xda and google but couldn't find anything anywhere about it.
My device is from India.
Dunno, but I'm sure you can find something in the play store.

on dhd it basically never ever worked, i think they just got rid of the whole htcsense.com thing because it never worked reliably. (in fact i remember they sent out an email saying they were shutting it down and to backup contacts etc)
lookout is good, wheres my droid is also good. both do the same thing, just ten times better than the htc one.
Hi all
I recently rooted my Wildfire and installed the wonderful link2sd. My Wildfire was on T-Mobile and I froze the following system apps - Does anyone know if I can safety uninstall them as freezing dosnt appear to have created any problems? I assume that uninstall will create more internal memory?
Facebook
Facebook for HTC Sense
FM Radio
Gmail
HTC Hub
HTC Likes
Mobile TV
Peep
Stocks
Talk
Tell HTC
Tetris Demo
Tips for home
Top Apps
Is there any others I can ditch too?
Thanks ppl
Basically if you have frozen an app and it has caused no problems for a few days/couple of re-boots, then it is safe to delete. The ones in your list should be safe to delete anyway.
As for any others you can delete, it's hard to tell without knowing what apps you have on your phone. Generally anything that doesn't seem to be connected with the way the phone runs should be OK to delete.

You can remove all apps mentioned here ecept Tell HTC (Im not so sure about it). But yeah their integration will be limited,
You should be able to delete all the HTC widgets and mail and gmail and just redownload and link them.
