Did any of you receive yesterday some notifications from HTC Hub (two green HTC icons) that some widgets and addons are available?
After I tapped the notifications, I couldn't find any new HTC widgets, but I landed on a page with the choice to download Picasa and LinkedIn for Sense. I tried to install LinkedIn, it all seemed fine, but no changes to were made to Sense. I guess the installation failed. I was kicked out of that add-on page too.
Afterwards, I couldn't find those two add-ons anymore in HTC Hub. Anyone else experienced this? Can I still install those two in any way, or should we just wait for HTC to publish them again?
Linkedin should reflect in the contacts and FriendStream. Picasa is supposed to be in the gallery but it seems to be not working.
Try clearing the HTC hub app data and cache then resync. The notifications should appear again.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
it seems that both plugins are now in "HTC Likes", but again I can't manage to install Picasa Web Album.
I'll try cleaning the data and resync. But those apps didn't appear in HTC Likes for me yet, I only have the 4-5 HTC widgets that were there from the beginning (and other apps from other providers).
Have exactly the same problem. LinkedIn installation failed in middle, had to remove it later one hence it was reporting status like "not installed, or missing files". Picasa one was not possible to download at all.
Now I can't find any of those. Will try to check the HTCLike and let you know if that works.
Tried, no success. The plugins are there, but nothing happens. Try to cleaned the cache as well.
Was anyone successfull installing at least one of those?
I was able to install "LinkedIn for HTC Sense".
- LinkedIn contacts sync-ed in People app
- LinkedIn updates in FriendStream
- Post updates to LinkedIn via FriendStream
For "Picasa Web Album", I raised a ticket to HTC. I got a stupid response:
--- start
Dear [...],
Picasa Web Albums is not from HTC and there maybe some problems with its server. We would advise you wait patiently for the server back to work again.
Regards,
HTC

A real "nonSense".
Having the same picasa issue here as well.
After the system update I have both plug-ins installed and working. I don't remember if I actually installed them myself or they were already there.
Very excited by the LinkedIn feed in Friendstream! We don't yet have a robust LinkedIn app (beta version is a first step, but it's very basic and DroidIn UI is a bit fugly) so this is perfect.
Same problem
I have the same issues as darthmelk had before the update. Now, after installing the update, the problem still exists. Anyone else? And any ideas how to fix this?

Hi All,
Old Winmo User here, glad to be back on XDA-Dev after a stint with a Moto Milestone.
I picked up a Desire yesterday. I love most of the HTC tweaks. I like the black theme and glossy skins more than stock android.
However, I can't seem to sync a Facebook account, only 'Facebook for HTC Sense'.
One of my favourite things on the Milestone was being able to click on someone's photo in any app and have the option to contact them via facebook, twitter , gmail, gtalk etc. This has gone on the Desire. I also liked being able to jump to a contact card straight from the Facebook and Twitter app, but this option has gone now too. The integration, which is the shining point of Android is missing on the Desire.
I think the problem is possibly because the default contacts.apk is missing, and the godawful HTC one is there instead, so Facebook and Twitter don't know what to sync with. Is this right?
I have found the contacts.apk from this thread however I can't install it. Is this because I don't have root access?
If I root my Desire, and install this APK, will my Facebook and Twitter integration return?
Cheers in advance
You should be able to send it with htc sync to your phone. (once connected a third option will appear in the programme)
Just make sure that in settings->applications that unknown sources is checked.

This thread indicates otherwise.
Is there something that HTC Sync does that just running an .apk does not? I've installed several other .apk files without problem.
You should only be able to sync with 'Facebook for HTC Sense' from the sync menu. If you open the facebook app then it will also sync with 'Facebook'. I think so anyway.
This is how I understood it too.
I 'had' a stock Desire yesterday morning and Facebook HTC Sense etc was working swimmingly there, got all updates and contact pics on the 2.1 release (out of box night before), since i rooted and dropped on a different ROM i lost all of that but my memory recalls;
Stock 2.1>Root>setup and the pictures were there fine
then Cooked ROM>setup = Fail
My suggestion is try for a root on stock and if it works all ok your golden! i think my issue is the ROMs i use dont support Facebook Sync,,, yet
Hi,
I am a bit confused with the data sources used for the HTC sense facebook app and the "official" facebook app. The story:
I used to have the normal, facebook for HTC sense. I do not remember if there was another facebook app in the application list (standard 2.1 ROM).
I used to have my contacts in there and could link them to my Exchange contacts. When the latest version of the facebook app came out, I installed it and it worked fine. I did not try to link contacts for a while.
Recently I discovered that there are some of the contacts in the facebook app that are not in the list of linkable contacts. I suspected that the official and the HTC app used different datasets. So I tried to open the HTC version without success. I could not find a link to it, only to the official app. But both are in the application list. Also, in the market, I cannot uninstall the new app completely, only remove the updates. I have done this, and also removed the facebook for HTC sense account, to reset and re-download all contacts from the web.
When I try to reinstall the account now, it shows me next to flickr etc a facebook and a facebook for HTC account in the list, but I can only create one for the HTC version. I did this, but now, the list of the contacts is empty when I try to link exchange data to facebook contacts.
I can reconnect facebook before an after the update to the online version and download the contacts which will be shown in the actual application, but the "Link to" will not show any contacts anymore.
Any suggestions?
Hi,
today I got a notification from HTC Hub indicating that there were 2 new plugins for HTC Sense which are LinkedIn and Picasa.
I chose both to install, LinkedIn installed and I can see it and its nice. However, Picasa downloads but didn't install. Tried again as the notification still were there, but same thing happend again, downloads but never installs. Then the notification vanished!
I tried to find the Picasa Album plugin on HTC hub on both phone and HTCSense.com but never found it!!
Anybody experienced the same?
Does anybody know where HTC Hub downloads the files? I might find Picasa for HTC Sense file there and install it manually.
It would be nice to have the Picasa Album plugin so I do not need any third party app.
Noticed the exact same thing... got linked in but no picasa, and would have prefered to get picasa over linked in.
Yeah i had the same problem, i had two notifications one for the linkedIn and Picasa plug-ins and one for a new widget. I chose to install Picasa as the other two didn't interest me but it never installed and doesn't show up in the gallery as an option. I can't figure out how to get back to that plug-in choice section to try and download it again either
Although sometimes when i go to the HTC hub it shows up briefly saying 'failed to connect to server, try again later' but things still seem to load. Dunno if that's got anything to do with it. Hopefully they just pulled it and will have it available again soon
I downloaded the Linkedin app. Now it says "application not found" !!
had the same thing first i thought I downloaded both of them and then LinkedIn only show up in "Account & Sync" whereas Picasa is no where to be found.
also the update notification shows up randomly.
Same thing goes to the "Market" I was on the new Market UI at some point then it jumped back to the normal one
I downloaded the linked, I can see it in my manage apps, but it is not in my app drawer. I cannot open it. I wish HTC would provide some support here!
So I am not the only one facing this problem. Hope this will be fixed soon and pushed by HTC again

David:
I think you cannot find it in app drawer as it is a plugin for HTC Sense UI and not a standalone application for Android.
So you can find the application in Contacts -> Online -> and from here you choose LinkedIn
I don't have it in my HTC Hub. Where should it be?
its not there. I guess HTC pushed it to all and not included in HTC hub online yet.
re: picasa link
I tried to share/upload using picasa via galley but it's buggy, it want's you to log in to your google acct. even that you're logged already. Works fine if logged in.

Thats is something different.
Uploading to Picasa has always been there but the new plugin I think is to view your online albums and see pictures on your phone just like the new LinkedIn for HTC Sense plugin which enables you to see all of your friends and their profiles.
shemeri:
Thanks, it was there! Using it made me realize that the app is completely useless for my purposes. All it did was override my contacts with Linkedin contacts without email addresses, phone numbers, etc. I was hoping for that missing Android Linkedin app which this was not!

Are you sure it override your contacts with LinkedIn? For me what it does it actually good. I choose to see LinkedIn contacts when I open "Contacts" which you can switch off.
It links existing contacts you have in your phone with LinkedIn contacts but for me it didnt override anything!
If you mean it override your contacts, just unlink them and don't link any but still you can see all LinkedIn contacts.

I have actually deleted it as I could not figure out how to unlink. All I want is an app that accesses Linkedin, similar to twitter app, without having any effect on my phone contacts. Thanks again for your help!
Same to me, never been able to find downloaded apps.
I downloaded the LinkedIn app yesterday. When I connected to my LinkedIn account, syncing created new entries for my LinkedIn connections, which I manually had to link to the corresponding phone contacts (no automatic link suggestions). I can now view their LinkedIn profile from their contact card.
While I was in LinkedIn, I added some new people to my network. By the time they'd responded, I could no longer sync with my LinkedIn account. Force close!
I deleted my LinkedIn account, then recreated it. Syncing worked again, but I had to manually link the LinkedIn contacts to existing phone contacts once again.

I had the notification pop up to download both. Downloaded them - neither installed so I tried restarting and can't find either of them. Nor can I get back to the page on HTC Hub to download them from...
Anybody have suggestions on where to download it from?

Even I was befuddled by this. Linkedin didnt seem to install correctly. But it has - it is just an addon/plugin to the People/Contacts app and thats why the linkedin icon does not appear in the all apps page.
This Linkedin plugin allows you to sync your linkedin contacts to your address book - just go to the online directories section of the people app and click on the linkedin icon to login to your linkedin account. It also auto-suggests linking the contacts like Facebook for HTC sense plugin does, just need to give it some time.
Now to go and find out what the picasa update does!!
I did do that but linkedin isn't listed unfortuantely. Is there a URL that can trigger the download link?
Hey everyone.
I have install facebook for android few months ago. After that i notice that my People's contact pic does not sync with facebook pic anymore. is there anyway to sync back the pic on update?
I did try edit the contact, select the pic and select facebook for htc sense.
That doesn't works.
Under watchdog app, i still see Facebook for HTC Sense but i can't launch the app.
go to
settings---accounts and sync----sync htc sense facebook....
or switch on auto update.......
hi
That didn't work.
as i mention, i accidentally install "facebook for android"
so currently it mess up with the htc sense facebook.
all profile pic for "people" will not update.
Is there anyway to install back the old "Facebook for htc sense"?
i have facebook for android but i also have htc facebook...........
installing facebook for android willnot affect the htc sense facebook....
apparently i found the solution
remove account in the sync and add back.
The HTC syncing with Facebook and Sense Facebook is not the best system, but neither are any of the others, generally if you are having issues with profile photos, an application I would recommend on the top of my head is called SyncPic which is very good and automatically downloads the profile photos of Facebook only, not with other networking websites...but give a crack if you are still having issues...

Hello, everyone.
HTC M8 is my fourth HTC device. When I log on to Facebook app and enable it in Services & Apps in BlinkFeed, I still do not see any content from Facebook. I get content from LinkedIn and others fine on BlinkFeed, but not Facebook.
I have done almost everything I could do and followed everything I could find on Google, but no luck. I thought it was BlinkFeed problem, but my friends don't have this problem. I had the same issue on M8 EYE.
I wrote a mail to HTC as well as Facebook, but they too were not able to resolve the problem. I didn't even get a reply from Facebook.
Finally, I thought there might be a problem with my Facebook account. I have now asked Facebook to delete my account completely. I have 12 days before my account gets completely erased. I hope somebody might be able to help me here.
Thanks.

I am having this too
I am having this too.
I cant believe we are just a few people having this!
+1
You guys aren't alone, I to have the same issue. I've had some success at remedying the problem by creating a new fb account. Even this is flaky as only a few feeds are updated. My original fb account still won't play nicely With BlinkFeed and still has no content.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
me too,i have this issue .
Yep, same problem here.
And it's being going on for quite a while!! Facebook not updating in Blinkfeed.
---
I'm not generally a big fan of Facebook; I only use it because some close family members are on it...
This problem, I'm sure, lies with the Facebook app itself, and not with Blinkfeed... since the Twitter app, Google Plus app and the Tumblr app, all update successfully in Blinkfeed on my M8, as well as sundry custom search feeds.
Further, and aside from Blinkfeed, the Facebook app notifications are very hit and miss for me, not just on my M8, but on all my Android devices. Some notifications are delivered... most, however, are not.
---
Anyhow, given my scarce usage of Facebook, I've decided to uninstall it from my M8.... (it's also an incredible space hog, consuming 158Mb of internal storage)... and just keep apprised of family events via Facebook on Chrome.
Aside from freeing up 158Mb of internal storage, my M8 now **feels** more responsive.
And, certainly, manually updating Blinkfeed by 'pulling down' now just takes a second or two... instead of the good half-minute it used to, whilst waiting for Facebook to get it's 'skates on'... And which of course, it rarely (if ever), it actually does.
---
I suspect at some point, Blinkfeed just 'times out' waiting for Facebook to deliver content, and then moves on to whatever else is in your Blinkfeed 'feed' .
---
My M8 isn't rooted, and I don't have any immediate plans to root it... But it might be an interesting exercise, for those who are rooted, to examine a Logcat output, whilst Blinkfeed is attempting to 'read' Facebook content, in order to ascertain some sense of what is going on behind the scenes, so to speak.
In the meantime, and until Facebook fixes this problem with their app, there's probably not much that can be done, unfortunately.
Well, that's my view anyway.
Rgrds,
Ged.

Go to the phone's (not Blinkfeed) Settings>Accounts & sync, and make sure Facebook is listed there (add it, if it isn't) and synching properly. I think Blinkfeed accesses FB directly, and not through the FB app.
In fact, if you look through your apps, you will see there is a "Facebook for HTC Sense" as well as "Facebook" (if you installed it from the Play Store).
For that matter, maybe try to clear cache or clear data for the "Facebook for HTC Sense" if the above suggestions don't solve the issue.
Mine started to show Facebook posts about a day after I loged in. All of a sudden blinkfeed was full of Facebook I had to disable it.
Thanks for the reply
Hi Redpoint,
Thanks for your reply. There is one other problem with it. There is no "Facebook for HTC Sense". It used to be on all my previous HTC devices. But it just isn't there now. That's what I thought the problem was. Can anybody please confirm it?

Hi, blinkash...
There is a 'Facebook for HTC Sense' app on my M8... running unrooted & unmodified stock Lollipop 5.0.1.
But you won't find it in the app drawer.
It's in the SETTINGS>>APPS>>ALL tab.
(See the first screenshot below.)
The actual APK/app is located in /system/priv-app/Facebook.
(See the second screenshot below.)
As you can see, it's pretty small, clocking in at just 2.4Mb.
---
I would really like to report that clearing it's data and/or cache resolves the Blinkfeed/Facebook update problem... Sadly, however, it does not... At least it doesn't for me.
---
As far as I can work out, all that 'Facebook for HTC Sense' does is provide a 'hook/entry' and an authorisation point for the official Facebook app to deliver Facebook content to Blinkfeed.
(See the third and fourth screenshot below.)
And sadly, and as others have commented on this thread, this mechanism is not quite working the way it should.
Rgrds,
Ged.
I'm in same boat as you guys. M8 and changed a couple or roms and nothing fixed the problem.
