[Q] Phone App Purchase Error - Windows Phone 7 General

Trying to purchase Windows Phone 7 applications from Zune Marketplace and get an error with a link to: http://www.zune.net/en-US/support/w...help_originalid=C101C400&webhelp_locale=en-US
Anyone know what's up with that? Why won't it let me purchase the applications?
Also - is there no way to use Microsoft Points to purchase games?
Regards.
Salman Khalid.

Purchases through the Marketplace are $$$s only, no way to use MS Points.
As for the other issue, it's not something I've seen. If it's on the phone itself, I'd try a soft reset.

Yeah... i figured about the $$$...
As for the error... it was when i try buying apps from marketplace within Zune desktop software. Of course, take into account the fact that i'm in Pakistan and using the Using store with a US CC... it's probably throwing that error due to my location when verifying to purchase. Though i am able to download Trial and Free apps without issues...
I did find a workaround for the time being though... turning off Wifi on my phone and using Edge to purchase the games using Marketplace on the device itself causes no problems!

How to get apps bac after reset

Is there a way to get my paid apps back after a reset without paying for the apps again?
provided you're logged into the same account you performed the purchase on, merely just go and download the app again. it won't cost you anything to download it after you've paid for it.
hint: use zune to load the application onto your phone, this way if you reset your phone, then connect it back to zune, it will reinstall all your apps automatically for you.

Are the zune servers down? I cant even sign in...it says it cant access the server.
I bought my focus last monday, switched to my moto razr today so i called att and they changed the IMEI on my acct to the one for the razr. Decided to not sell my Focus so I called att and changed they changed the IMEI back. Had to give them IMEI so because of data plan changes for smartphone and non smartphone. Anyways, after doing that I cant download anything from marketplace or stream music from zune marketplace.
So am I royally effed or is there somethign I can do?

can you browse the net with your phone? as in it is just zune that isn't working? if it's just zune on the phone, try zune on the desktop. if they're both down, then it's presumably the zune service which is down or something. give it a bit of time, sleep on it, and then see if it works?
Zune was down earlier on the desktop. Windows Live (as a whole) had some authentication issues. Hotmail was down earlier in the day for me.
I made the mistake of not installing all my apps through the desktop software. What's most maddening is that after a hard reset, you CAN'T re-install the apps with the Zune software. You can only do it through the phone. Completely idiotic.
hard reset
I had problems with marketplace and email,...I hard reset the phone, hooked it back up to the computer, and the zune software automatically reinstalled most of the software that was on the phone, without my knowing it.

Well indeed...... And it would be nice to be able to do it ON THE PHONE only.
And now you can't even install those apps again without internet connection...
Hi,
I guess you just need to reinstall these apps from the market place. Here is the guide that i came across...hxxp://aliwaqas.info/how-to-reinstall-paid-apps-without-paying-on-windows-phone-7-devices

[Q] will the marketplace work overseas?

My question is, will i be able to buy/download apps for a WP7 phone (lets say from the US[samsung focus]) in countries that don't have windows phone 7 yet?(lets say Israel)
Hard reset my phone and booted it up in airplane mode, market works just fine that way with wifi so I don't see why not.

if you can buy a windows phone there at present, then yes you shouldn't have a problem. if it isn't available there at the moment, you may have to do some dodgy things and make it think you're from US.
Works fine in Norway, but I'm not sure if I can get all programs available in the US or just a subset...Hard to tell, really
Unless the marketplace is available in that country no.
For instance, they sell WP7 phones in Sweden but they haven't launched the marketplace here yet. Which is idiotic.
You can get around it though by making a new windows live id that has the country set to a country with the marketplace available.
Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830701 for more information.
wow thats cool i just change my PC location to USA and i got my Zune Marketplace i never had before thats cool, i see the windows phone marketplace now...
is there a way i can make my pc think i have a windows phone phone conected so i can try to download free apps?
and for payed apps i have an AMEX card so i think im set.
You can download free apps if your Windows Live is set to a country with marketplace support. However, to buy apps you need to set your credit card details in Zune with an address in that country. I have a Netherlands Mastercard but put in my parents address in UK and its working great.
Hmm so I assume it will not NORMALLY work in Poland without setting another account which is set as UK?
I mean I use Hotmail for 12 years and probably it's set as polish, so...
Without this workarounds no chance?
On offical MS polish page they invite to buy 3 WP7 devices in polish stores....
So looks like official....
Any clue?

Which mastercard are you using. I have got one from ABN AMRO but it is not working. Only thing different is that I'm trying it with the US marketplace. I read somewhere it only worked a few days after launch day. I tried it btw on the zune desktop. Keep getting a error message saying that my creditcard details are wrong.
There is a service called global shop for AMEX card owners that gives u an address in the USA in Miami, so I can register to any us retail and give them the global shop Miami address that’s just cool
And as for changing the Live, takes only a sec to do and I have my account for like 5 years.
but i still wana be sure, so if any of you know of any virtual WP7, or if any one tried in a country that don't sell phones yet.
Setting up your WP7 device with a US live-id works fine, but you won't be able to buy apps without a US credit card also. Downloading free apps works fine, though, but when WP7 is launched with all services and the marketplace in your own country you will have to reset your device and set it up again with a local live-id to use these. Any apps downloaded from the US marketplace will then be lost.

So all that makes buying a WP7 device NOW nonsense.
Whether you don't have access to all the features or you're screwed later....
Discouraging.
at present, perhaps, but i think over time as they support more and more languages they'll open it up more.

ING Mastercard (Netherlands), In Zune add credit card UK address with Netherlands card number, Windows Live UK account.
I did this two days ago and already bought some apps. I also read somewhere this is the official method endorsed by Microsoft Netherlands so maybe give them a call if its not working?

[Q] Marketplace problem

Hi All,
Just tried buying an app from the marketplace and got this message:
"Can't get this info right now, please try again later"
I just spent about an hour searching various forums, and there seems to be a real difference of opinion about what this message means. Some posters suggest that it indicates a problem at MS's end (i.e. they're doing maintenance, something is wrong with Windows Live etc), and so the best thing to do is sit tight. Others seem to think it is user problem, and you need to reset the phone, clear the history in IE, turn on/off cookies in IE, etc... Given I didn't change anything on my phone and this just started happening for no obvious reason, I'm inclined to think its an MS problem. Anyone else dealt with this? Advice would be helpful as I don't want to waste time trying all the suggested solutions online...
I have two devices (Trophy). One is OK, but the other the same that you. All are update with the february update...
Just spoke with Microsoft support and they weren't very helpful. Suggested it might be something to do with the IP address the phone is using (I'm currently in Canada, although my Windows Live / Zune account is in the US). That doesn't really make sense to me, as I have been using the phone in Canada since the Feb update with no problems - why should it suddenly have a problem with the IP address? Also, I can still use my Zune Pass...
Sorry my english. I uninstall all aplications with updates in marketplace in the device that not connect. But remains one: Xbox Live Extras. With this device I can't connect to Xbox live. ¿Can you connect to Xbox live? The another device that it's right connect without problems...
Today it works... This night made changes in the profile of XBox Live... But I dón't know if had been casuality...
I have the same problem with my hd7, in spain, since this afternoon i cant buy anything on the market place... xbox live works, zunepass works but no market i cant get nothing even free stuff does not work... any ideas?
Count me in on the Market app install problem. Been trying all day to install some apps and they won't. I get the same message as the OP.
quantum on att here. same problem off and on. i find that if i wait for a few seconds (as if to have the marketplace dumbware to finish loading), and then tap "install" it usually goes through. when it goes through, it says "purchasing" rather than showing only the dots.
Haven't had any problems since I did a hard reset and then "rebuilt" the phone with a Canadian Windows Live account. Can't access my Zune Pass on the phone anymore, of course...
Any chance the update did something to our phones? Has everyone posting here had the update?

Not mine. Still 7004
The same for me with 7004, 7008 and nodo update.
I test one thing : changing my windows live id wth another email adress
it works like a chrm
so th bug is due to the windows live account and not the market
grrrr, i loss all the programs i've been purchasing before!

The Market seems to be working now. Apps are now installing.
Can anyone else confirm that the problem has now resolved itself? I'm not all that eek to hard reset my phone again and go back to my original live account if it's not going to make a difference...
I just got this problem now! grr, hard reset for no reason, ffs!
Hard reset and set up with US-based account. All working perfectly again. I suspect this problem has something to do with our Live accounts at Microsoft's end. If it happen to me again, I think I'll just wait for things to (hopefully) resolve themselves.
I was having this issue for a week now and fixed it today about 5 hours ago actually. I was looking to see what I may have done recently to cause the issue and I had cookies disabled. Once I re-enabled it, everything worked again.
Well it Works for me again...

Hmm... is zune marketplace down?

First time I've had issues with it. It will let me get to the point where I select try or buy but then when I go to verify it just continuously loads. I tried afterwards on the PC and it just says none of the above items are available for purchase. This was initially found on the moron test but I am having the same issue occur with all apps.
I had that happen about a week ago on the weekend. Come Monday, the market started working again.

Neither could I. And some of the apps were paid apps that needed updating. It was quite annoying. But I was glad to see it working again come that Monday, without the need to do a hard reset.
yup, having that issue here too, i think it's tied to either your account, or your location... not quite sure why tho...
I have had issue with market place a couple of times. Mostly the update won't succeed and I'll need to delete the app then install it again.
Having the same problem here to. Can't update or download apps (sweden).
I'm having the same problem on the phone and trying to install from the Zune PC marketplace.
Me too
yes, same in Dalian China from 19th Mar.
I tried to install apps from Zune on my PC but got error "None of the selected items is available for purchase". Anyway it worked well before. And then I tried to install using marketplace on my Focus but got another error "Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while."
Some Chinese uses got same error, but some can still download/install apps from marketplace. So it's very strange issue. Is it related to my live id?
Anyone can help on this? I only found US ZUNE support number but I cannot dial.

Just wait a day. Monday will bring it back to normal. It effects users at different times. MS might be doing some kind of tuning to the market to help refine it. At least that's what I rationalize it to be.
It's working this morning, I was able to download a few free apps and buy some songs without any issues.
I still have the Problem, and also never got that pre-nodo update... Truly sucks...

The marketplace and Apps

You know I know MS has done some DUMB things over the years but I think this has got to be the dumbest!
I don't put my credit card onlline esp for games and other trivalties. What I do is buy points I did it for my PS3, and I decided to do it for the MS store. Well low and behold the games can be bought, the music/video can be bought with points but NOT the apps!!
This is the dumbest thing. I don't want games on my phone, or music and videos with DRM lock on them. What I wasnt is a sirius Satalie radio app that apperently I can't buy without putting my credit card into the system.
So now because of MS's reasoning people who go to all that effort of building these apps and deserve to be paid for them can't be, and because I like so many others refuse to use our credit cards on the net and for a 1 dollar item the developers loose out. And not that i care i'm out 40 bucks (2800 points) I care that thats money MS gets and I will never spend, so they win!
Or you could do as I do, and when you want to buy an app, you complete the transaction on your phone, and have it charged to your phone bill. No hassle, no fuss, no credit card involved.
Unfortunately i doubt my system works that way, though it would be nice.
yea mine doesnt work either

are the price in USD or local currency(own country currency)
I am in the US, and all of the purchases I have made have been in USD. I don't know how it might work (or not work, as it seems) in other countries.
When I buy from MP I just pay using my Credit Card detail I have it stored with Live ID.. when I dont want them to charge my card I just buy it from my phone instead and my Atnt Bill gets credited at the end of the month for all purchases from my phone together...
I like phone billing better because its all together at month end.. I get time.. where as from card I keep seeing every 8-9 USD two three times.. so sometimes I could run into risk of overdrawing and stuff..
But than if I buy from phone.. I would have to re-install it again in case if I ever have hard reset my phone, (I have never done hard reset on my phone yet!! )... so I use MP to buy and install and dont have any problems..

Actually, even if you buy an app through Zune, you may still have to reinstall it from your phone after a hard reset (or replacement).
I recently added more memory to my Focus, which required a hard reset. After completing the reset, I connected to my PC so Zune could reinstall all of my apps, but only about a third of them auto-reinstalled. I don't know if the limit is time-based or number-based, but from what I could see, only the apps that I had purchased/installed within the last 6 weeks were present. The rest all had to be manually reinstalled, which was not fun at all.
This for me is probably the most frustrating part of the WP7 marketplace. We have no tool, either in Zune OR on the phone (it should be on BOTH) to allow use to see a complete history of what we have downloaded/purchased, with options to permanently remove things from the list that we downloaded to check out, but found to be worthless, and another option, for times such as following a hard reset, to select multiple apps to reinstall (or optionally "all"). Instead, I have to keep it all in a spreadsheet on my PC and manually install almost every single app. Lame.

I'm not sure if that even shows a complete history of Zune-purchased apps. And, even for the apps it does list, it doesn't provide any tools to reinstall. In fact, Zune doesn't allow any manual reinstall, period. It HAS TO be done on the phone.
[Edit]
I hadn't tried to use that tool in a while, because the last time I did use it, it didn't list everything. It looks like it does now list everything (even apps purchased on the phone), but still lacks the ability to reinstall apps from there. And there is still the glaring lack of a similar tool on the phone itself.
Actually it's weird but believe me apps keep reinstalling for a few days on Zune after a hard reset. It doesn't make any sense but I experienced it with my phone.
That said, a way to backup would be ideal, specially when it comes to game saves.

also its cheaper to just buy it via ATT, saves me a few cents of sales tax.
Just setup a credit card specifically for online purchases. You are protected. Just make sure you check your statement each month to make sure there were no fraudulent charges.

the Zune created backups save apps and game saves. The backup is surprisingly thorough. There is a program on XDA here now that will trick Zune into creating a backup at any time.

That's true, but there is no selective restore feature. It's either all or nothing. Plus, if you have a Focus, and add more memory, the backup will not be recognized as valid for your phone any more.

You can't backup specific data with that tool. What it does - basically spoken - is force Zune into the update mode, so it runs a backup of your device. After the backup is finished, the update process is aborted. When you now want to restore the backup, you just do a simple rollback from within Zune.
I need to try this, cheers. Xbox Live is getting cloud saving, would be great if WP7 games were included in that.
