[Q] App suddenly disappear! - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a few apps suddenly disappear when I try to install it back it is like updating the app saying all data will save but the app just won't install. I check under data the app's data still exist but when I delete those data hoping the app will install again but just won't work. Is there a way to fully remove app's data & everything so I can install the app again?

[Q] Stock Browser Crashes

Hi guys,
I was doing some changes on stock browser settings but it suddenly crashed. Now it's always crashing. I've restarted the phone but it still crashes. It says com.android.browser force closed but i cannot find it anywhere on applications for clearing the cache. I also couldn't find it on titanium backup for restoring.
What can i do??
Is there anyone have a zip version for flashing it?
In application settings click on the ALL tab, it is listed there as internet, there you can clear the data.

Backing Up Game & App Data Only [Not The APK's]

Hi there,
I'm moving ROMS and would like to know how to back up game data/ app data only, not including the app packages. I backed up both previously and had problems!
So, I would just like to back up game saves etc..
I have titanium backup.
You have the option in titanium to restore data only.
Ie. During batch restore, click on restore user apps with data, then select data only and deselect the apps your not restoring data to.
You can also long tap on any listed app in the backup/restore tab, tap restore, data only

Okay, thanks for the swift reply.
Just a quickie, I'm a bit confused.....
When backing up, which option do I select after I have selected 'batch'?
Isn't there an option to back up the app data only?
Cheers
Select - backup all user apps. It will backup the apk well as data.
There is an option in the preferences about the apk, but I've never tried it.
Can't hurt to have a backup of the apk anyway although best to restore data only, particularly restoring across different ROMs.

[Q] Memory management in Android

does uninstalling an application without clearing its cache and data automatically clears it?
I know that cache can be cleared, want to know about the data of the application
i don't know if it's deteled or not, but data from your old installed application cannot be access by your new installed application, even if they from same version. but, update does not remove your data.
then the data keeps stacking up and consumes more space, isn't there any way to clear the space used by the stranded app data?
cannot be access, can be means it's already gone
they are deleted if you uninstall them with normal way, except the additional data in sdcard. if you have titanium backup, they have 'delete orphan data' option.

[Q] insufficient storage available

I have 2.6gb free, and I cannot install or update any apps. insufficient storage keeps popping up. Is there a fix for this on the Galaxy S4? I am running stock rom and kernel, just rooted.
Have you tried a reboot? Or clearing data on the play store app?
Sent from Flip's Galaxy S4
yep, tried clearing data and cache from playstore, and google frameworks. Rebooted into recovery, wiped dalvik. Uninstalled and freed up to 4.6gb of space and it still says insufficient storage.
This is a bug that showed up for me in JB and I think it has to do with rooting as well (not sure).
(HINT - The error is really not insufficient storage but this is the only error code that playstore understands...)
But here is the fix-
1. Use a root explorer and go to /data directory
2. (I'm on conference call right now so I cannot verify the dir names but they should be close) Go to the applib and the data directories (/data/applib and /data/data), there ought to be folders of the app that you cannot install, just delete them and go back to the playstore and install the update.
3. If there error still there then, go to /data/app as well, and delete the app completely.
4. WARNING, you will (may) lose the settings for whatever app you have error with, so you may want to backup the app beforehand and then restore the app (data only) after doing all of this.

I used to get such errors even on a custom firmware based off Sprint's stock Evo 3D ice cream sandwich image... wish I would've known this sooner. (I also used app2sd and even though I had like half of my SD card left it would still toss up this error.)

[Q] No Google Services on newly rooted s3

I recently rooted my at&t S3 and up until recently I haven't been able to use any google services. I first noticed it with the google play store when I opened the app it would say "No Connection" with a box underneath that said retry. No mater what I do it still persists. I've cleared the cache, attempted to uninstall updates but i would be stuck on the uninstall page indefinitely. I looked in the google accounts I was using and signed out of both of them but when I try to sign back in it tells me it can't establish a connection? I'm looking for a solution that doesn't involve me having to hard reset

Do you have a internet connection (3G-4G)? Are you notification icons gray or blue? (Blue = connected with Google)
Check to make sure you APNs to make sure they all match. You can also try to clear your Play Store's cache/data as well as clear your accounts info.

I have a steady connection. I've tried on wifi along with 4G and still nothing. I haven't been getting any notifications from google. Cleared all account data as well. I think the problem started when I used root app delete to clear up some unused system apps. I didn't disable any apps that that looked harmful but after the problem I enabled them all again.

Well then, chances are that you will have to reset it. Backup your stuff first though.
Apps/data -> Titanium Backup
Copy your personal files on a external SD or on your pc and contacts to your sim if they're not sync'd with your google account.
Playing with system apps is never a good idea (unless you really know what you're doing)
Another option would be to grab pre-rooted stock Odin for your carrier, you will still need to backup though.

I figured I'd end up resetting where do I find a thread on how to backup? I have titanium backup but I have no idea how to recover the files after the factory reset

TiBu will make a folder on your internal SD (named Titanium Backup), just save that folder on your pc or External SD if you're worried about your internal storage getting wiped.
Once your phone is back up, just restore with TiBu *don't restore any system apps*
