[Q] Rebranding on H3G? - Desire General

Has anyone tried to rebrand their debranded Hutchison 3g (Three UK) phone with an SLCD screen? I'm not sure if it's possible, but might there be a way to modify a stock rom so that I can trick the OTA updater into thinking I have a branded phone? Or is there an RUU already for H3G that supports SLCD?
I've already tried to search for a solution, but I'm not an extremely advanced user and I wouldn't know how to go about doing such a thing, so I thought I would ask for help from the generous XDA community
Thanks,
unnddd
Edit: Just found that there is indeed an RUU, but I haven't found a place where I can download it. Anyone know where I can get it? I've seen a few custom ROMs floating around based on RUU.Bravo.Froyo.H3G.UK.2.25.771.1.Radio.32.48.00.32U.5.11.05.14.release.149217.signed.exe so it must be around somewhere.

Help:Orange debranded need to update

i bought my htc hero from ebay,
it was orange branded, the seller debranded it & sold
there;s no orange services in india aswell,
it works fine with my carrier
now when i try to uprgare from 1.76.61.3 to 2.73.405.38 it fails,
i've done everything as required & suggested here
i kinda lack knowledge about the unbranding stuff
will i need to unlock again after updating?
or once unlocked its free for updating or flashing custom rom anytime
please sort me out of this
If I were you, I would avoid using an RUU to update your phone, and use one of Modaco's custom ROMs. You will find instructions in this forum.
Regards,
Dave
i dont want custom rom as of now,
please help me regarding my question,,please!!
Well, for starters, 405 is the generic HTC build, which presumably won't pass the CID checks on an Orange Hero (regardless of its status vis-a-vis branding). Therefore, I'd suggest trying the Orange 2.73 update if you *really* want to use an RUU, but there are plenty of "custom" ROMs that are simply the carrier ROMs packed in an "update.zip" format.
Personally, I'd never use an RUU as there's always the possibility that they will be updated to close the loopholes that allow custom ROMs to be flashed - which is exactly what has occurred with the latest official T-Mobile update!
Regards,
Dave
cheers!!
i've no way then to agree to you
just one question again?
flashing a custom rom,is there any change getting it locked again,
as throughout the forum i'm just seeing unlocking orange hero is not a task of ease,
i know i might b sounding stupid but i'm not sure of this stuffs
winmo flashing was different case imo
edit: please provide me link to customroms.zip
There seems to be an issue with unlocking Orange Heros for some users, but you've already said that yours works fine with a different carrier so you clearly don't have this issue and yours is unlocked already.
For ROMs, see http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/291942/09-10-hero-roms-radios-in-update-zip-format/
You will also need to replace your recovery image with one that permits updating via zip files. See http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/291486/25-08-installing-the-patched-recovery-image-on-your-device-permanently/
Note that you don't actually need to permanently flash the recovery image if you don't wish to. You can boot of it using the fastboot command, make a nandroid backup, and then apply an update zip file.
Regards,
Dave
cheers mate,thanks a lot
i'll go through your links & will try out!!
cheers foxmeister
finally my orange hero can taste lemon

Help needed ... unable to find RUU to restore using Orange GSM Desire

Hi all
I am afraid I need help, seems all I ask for ... I have never fully got my head round all of this android tinkering.
I have been running quite happily on a custom ROM but the time has come for me to try and get back to stock since I am trying to unlock the phone for use on another network. The code Orange have given me doesn't seem to work when using a different network SIM, but I got the code to enable me to use a custom Radio and rom ahead of Orange's release of Froyo.
So ... I have tried a couple of the WWE and Europe RUUs from the stock ROM thread
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.1_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121684
RUU-MoDaCo-Bravo-1.15.405.4-release
both fail to complete saying "ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR" I guess that means Orange variant. I have googled but I can't see anywhere that I can get hold of the Orange original eclair or the new Froyo ROMs. Any help on getting this sorted would be much appreciated as I presume others have hit issues when using Orange Desires
I also seem to have lost the ability to get into recovery mode ... and thus update my current ROM to anything else
Any ideas on what my best steps may be now?
Cheers
Sam
You need to create a goldcard in order to flash a branded handset to an unbranded ROM. Same story if you try to use another carriers branded ROM (not sure why you would, but hey.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954723&highlight=goldcard
Always make sure that you have the Goldcard in your phone when performing OTA updates.
Another important point is that you need the HTC software / drivers installed on your computer and also make sure you phone has USB Debugging enabled when creating your goldcard.

Anyone have a link to Vodafone branded ruu??

Hi, I recently flashed a rom which was great but was happier with the stock rom for the time being and wait until official 2.3 comes out, I have searched on here but nothing come up although I'm sure there is somewhere, can someone please give me the link to UK Vodafone branded ruu please??
Or could I use a non branded HTC rom and debrand my phone, will I still get ota updates?
And after installing official non branded HTC ruu can I just radio s-on and unroot and have no problems??
Thanks in advance
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
What's so hard about finding the RUU?
1. Go to Desire HD Development section
2. Use the search function and search for RUU
3. Pick this thread from the results
4. Click on the correct link and get to this page
5. Choose the Vodafone UK RUU
And rooting etc after returning to stock depends on what software version you have.
Edit: You can't get everything served on a spoon, you have to do some research on your own. Almost everything you need to know can be found on this forum.
Dazza_84,
Please use the search function or read up on what you want to accomplish. It's all there on the forums. Please don't start multiple threads to get your questions answered.
Consider this a warning.

Looking for this RUU/Rom

I was looking for the following RUU/Rom was wondering if anyone had it?
0PFHIMG_EYE_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_HTC_Europe_4.11.401.1_Radio_1.22.213311581.29G_20.57.4205.01_F_release_474644_combined_signed_2_4.zip
Honestly, I've neve seen European RUU for this phone, so I can't help you with it, but you can try to install AT&T RUU (you can find it on this forum) and then flash some EU rom, and radio as option.
only website i've seen it on is http://forum.a2phone.ir/download-center-new-firmware-files/373-desire-eye_eye_ul_m60_sense70_mr_htc_europe_4-11-401-1-firmware.html
but its a paid website & tbh I just wanna return the phone to stock to sell it now not put money into is that I know am gonna loose

If you're on Lollipop, you can use sunshine to unlock and flash away. If on MM, you have to downgrade to LP, and then use sunshine to unlock (this is a cost of 25 USD). There is a thread for the downgrade here in the Verizon forum. As for a rom, I highly recommend LeeDroid, as he makes roms for all M9s, and he is based out of the UK. For that, just go to the HTC One M9 main forum, not the Verizon forum. I'm currently running it and it is fantastic.
Edit: Sorry, totally somehow thought you were locked. Anyway, just make sure you have the latest TWRP and flash any rom you want, but you'll find more activity here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9
Roms based on stock (I recommend for stability, signal, and camera) are under "One (M9) Android Development."

Here's the link for the rom which has instructions for for installation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/rom-leedroid-one-m9-v7-0-0-rc1-march-t3068468
I can't remember off the top of my head if your recovery is new enough (I believe it is), but here is the thread for TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3066720
If you don't feel comfortable rebooting your phone into different modes and doing some command prompt codes, I'm not sure I'd recommend doing any of this though. Make sure you do your research and read, read, read. Maybe even search YouTube for examples of people flashing TWRP and such.
thank you sending the phone back, will buy a uk version
