So I tried out a theme that was in beta using CM 6.0.2 and it had some issue with it (the battery icon wouldn't display) and so I simply reflashed to CM6 RC3 and tried another theme but now every time I try to install a theme I get boot loops (Ive been reflashing between themes) any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
I had a similar issue where anything I was flashing would lead to a boot loop and I'd have to restore to my backup. One thing I did with what appears to be successful for now, I took my 8Gb mem card out, formatted a 2gb spare card on my comp, downloaded a stable rom onto said 2gb spare card, wiped data/cache/dalvik, flashed ROM and finally got my phone stable again, then I ran a backup on that card. With the 8gb card I moved all pictures/music/etc onto my comp, completely reformatted it on my comp, and inserted into the now stable phone and again ran another backup. Hopefully this helps. I've got problem to launch Modaco ROM 2.8. Previously i had 2.7 and I wanted to check out Motion Blur ROM. I have done nandroid backup and flashed new rom. Because i couldn't login to Motoblur account (It's needed to use this ROM) I decided to restore previous ROM. I think by mistake i pressed nandroid buckup again and i lost my Backup. I managed to copy 2.8 ROM to my SD but when i removed safety USB storage I noticed SD card icon with information that my Card is possible damaged. Since then i had problems to us SD. Windows wanted to format my card every time I tried access. I checked what it like in Partition manager. It showed me only one partition Fat 32 1.8GB (should be 1.5GB Fat32 and Ext3 + swap partitions) So I format it again and created new linux partitions. Windows could read SD but Mobile still showed Damaged Card. So I restarted Mobile and now i can't do anything. It's going to Hero Logo (waves robots) and then going to HTC Logo and then goes back to Hero Logo. Is it just because my SD is broken and buying new SD will solve the problem ? or did I break my mobile permanently ?

i've experienced a very similar problem where it reported my sdcard to be damaged and worse my phone won't even boot.
what i did was to remove the sdcard and it booted fine ( i had mcr 2.5 working), then noticed sdcard reported no issue. then simply rebooted to recovery, wiped, and applied mcr2.8 zip file.

Had a similar problem didnt have booting problems though, solved the problem in exactly the same way as kroosh. The problem stems from the swapper app which did come as part of the rom but is now only optional.
I had swapper too & guess you are right.
Unfortunately the 2.8 is getting sluggish and not sure if it was the swapper as well. I will try to restore 2.5 and see how it behaves
My card wasn't recognized because it was formatted in wrong format. I managed to install new recovery image v1.2.3 and i have created partition from there and its working fine now.

I had the same problem with my hero, if you disconnect the usb wrong ect. And the "damaged SD" error appears. I first didn't know what I was doing wrong, (was new to Android) and I re-formatted my SD card twice.
Anyway, after a while, I relize just turn off the phone, remove card, wait a few seconds, and put all back together.

My dinc is set up like this:

I flashed a rom and then it said my sd card went bad. Tried flashing another rom and it problem persisted. As a last resort i tried to reformat my sd card with no luck. got an error. I then tried to flash through recovery and did a full wipe (my mistake for doing this) but cant flash another rom since the sd card it bad. When i restart it gets stuck at the splash screen.
I bought another sd card and placed a rom which i know works on it and it seemed to have installed fine, but now when i restart i get stuck at the splash screen like i did before.
Any ideas?
Maybe i need to find the original update.zip file from when i first rooted? My sd card is empty except for that rom i put on it.
I found it. Nope, didnt work. Maybe i need to flash a recovery, though i have none anymore.
In case someone else comes across the same problem, i fixed it.
The sd card was ruined. unable to reformat or anything. Luckily i back up my sd card recently so i transfered everything to my new sd card. Went into recover and did a recovery of an old backup.
When I tried to update my CM nightly (think it was 14, was last week some time) build to use the then current incredikernel (wiped cache and dalvik as I was supposed to), my phone got stuck after booting. The checking sd card icon was up in the taskbar, and trying to unlock or do anything else caused things to freeze. No amount of waiting helped.
I was able to use recovery to restore a previous build from that same SD card, but had the same issue with a known working image.
I popped out the SD card and was able to boot fine. I then used recovery to format the SD card, and it loaded again- so I figured something got borked during the kernel update somehow.
In any case, now when I start up my phone it unlocks fine, but the checking SD card remains for over a minute, where it used to only take a few seconds.
I think I'll be buying a new SD card, but wanted to ask around to see if anyone else ran into anything like this, or if perhaps this is expected for new CM7 nightlies or something.
I forget the brand, but it it some generic 8GB SD card, worked fine since I got the phone when it was first released...
Turned out to be that formatting the card from within cwm recovery 3.0.0.8 seems to have used very small allocation size, which males the startup validity check stuff take forever.
I formatted via windows instead, and works much nicer now.

Did you wipe before restoring backups? Did you reflash the ROM? The /system folder is replaced every time you put a new ROM on.
yes ive rewiped every single time, and ive installed 3 different roms, cyanogenmod nightly 56 , rmk 2.3.3 and virtuous unity 2.37.0, all with same results, phone charges but i can not mount the sd.
ive even restored from back ups and nothing
ive tried connecting with windows 7, and while its trying to read the hardware
"android driver 1.0" fails (if that helps)
Does your phone recognize the sd card?
have you tried formatting the sd card itself? If not try that, format as fat32. I've had this issue before and it turned out my sdcard was corrupted. Did you try another card?

I then, for the hell of it, installed another ROM (incredible sensation) but this time through ROM manager, and I updated my recovery to 5.0.2.0. and now it works again, so thanks guys, maybe it was a combination of all these tips.

Is debugging checked? Are you selecting charge mode or disk drive mode?
I just flashed Business Gingersense 3.5 last night. Everything looks great on this ROM, but my phone doesn't think my SD card is present. I can't access pictures, audio, files, etc on the SD card. Is there something I need to do to get this ROM to see my SD card? I've reflashed a few times, removed and reinserted SD card, etc.

Is your SD card in FAT32 format? You could try copying everything from your SD card to your PC and reformat it. Then copy everything back on to it.
BTW, I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm coming from cyanogenmod 7.0 to Business GingerSense 3.5. The phone recognizes the card just fine when I reflash back to cyanogenmod 7.0...
I can give that a shot. Just curious - does cyanogenmod require a different format than gingersense? Perplexed as to why it is there w/ cyanogenmod.
I just checked the properties on my SD card and it IS in fact in FAT32 format. Any other suggestions?
Fad this prob before cm7 was ext4 ur new rom is most likely ext3 reformat or partition in recovery

As long as it is in FAT32 it should work. I know that files on SD cards over time become corrupt from files being deleted and over written. Cyanogenmod is dependent on the SD card so reformatting it could possibly solve your issue.
Make sure you are on 1.5 of the ROM. You should not be having this problem unless you installed a mod that broke it or it was a bad install.
I'm thinking the latter... I flashed the ROM a few times with the same result. I also flashed McTwist Sense 2.1/3.0 and had the same results. Flashed back to cyanogenmod 7.0 and everything is fine again. Have any ideas of what to look for? Mind you, I'm a newb so you might have to spell things out for me.
