[Q] Noob mistake....computer wont detect phone - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I accidentally reformatted my droid incredible 2 /system while in clockwork recovery now no computer will detect the phone
tried restoring from backups, but still same problem

Did you wipe before restoring backups? Did you reflash the ROM? The /system folder is replaced every time you put a new ROM on.

yes ive rewiped every single time, and ive installed 3 different roms, cyanogenmod nightly 56 , rmk 2.3.3 and virtuous unity 2.37.0, all with same results, phone charges but i can not mount the sd.
ive even restored from back ups and nothing
ive tried connecting with windows 7, and while its trying to read the hardware
"android driver 1.0" fails (if that helps)

Does your phone recognize the sd card?

have you tried formatting the sd card itself? If not try that, format as fat32. I've had this issue before and it turned out my sdcard was corrupted. Did you try another card?

Yes, my phone does recognize my SD card, I've tried a different card and same result, I tried to format the second card to test out, and nothing. I then, for the hell of it, installed another ROM (incredible sensation) but this time through ROM manager, and I updated my recovery to 5.0.2.0. and now it works again, so thanks guys, maybe it was a combination of all these tips.

[Q] TROUBLE: SD Card not partitioning with ROM Manager

Hi
I am having trouble with my SD Card on HTC Desire. The whole problem started this morning, so let me walk you through the whole thing:
I installed CM7 nightly # 24 last night. My phone was working absolutely fine before that. It was late so I just set ROM Manager to make a backup and install the new ROM, and went to bed. When I woke up, it had installed and was working fine. Then I dunno for what reason I had to restart my phone. And when I did, all hell broke loose!
The phone rebooted and gave the error message that there is a blank memory card in the phone!!! I restarted the phone a few more times, took out the card and cleaned it, everything, but it just won't recognize it. I went into recovery and mounted the SD card to connect to computer. But the windows (win7 x64) gave error message that the card has an unrecognized or corrupted file system. Since the only backup I had was on SD card itself, I realized that I was officially screwed.
So I formatted the card in the windows. And now it was showing the full 7.37GB size of the card. Meaning it had also somehow removed the 512MB sd-ext partition I had on it as well. But I said fine, no issues. I can reinstall all the apps and settings etc.
So I installed the CM7 RC2 just to be safe, and went into ROM Manager to make the ext partition. I set it to 512MB, swap size 0MB, and the phone restarted into recovery. It started the partition, but only after 3 or so seconds, it rebooted. I checked, but it hadn't partitioned the card! Weird...
I figured maybe there is a problem with the format Windows did, so I formatted the card once again from recovery. Just to be safe, I wiped everything and reinstalled CM7 RC2. But again, no luck with partitioning. Installed Nightly # 23 to get the latest patches and all, but again no luck.
Now I made a GParted USB boot drive, and tried partitioning with it. But GParted also wont partition it. There was this attention symbol next to the drive. I double clicked the drive and it showed this error in the next window. I took a picture of it from a friend's phone, attached below.
I also took a snapshot from within gparted, but it saved it at some /home/something location and I cannot find it. So if the attached image is not clear enough, or if you know where to look for that snapshot, please let me know and I'll post that. Its not in the boot USB drive or SD Card, and its not in my C: drive either.
I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what the hell is going on with my SD card, and how to fix it. Its a Class 2 card, about 6 months old, and I really hope it isn't dead.
Seriously? No one??
Use the recovery and not Rom Manager or use Gparted of something like Easeus.
I use partition wizard on the computer for partitioning

[Q] CyanogenMod 7 is ruining my SD cards

Now I'm not moaning about CyanogenMod here, I'm just trying to understand how I can fix the issue.
Basically, I had CyanogenMod 7 RC2 on my Desire Z. That was it.
Eventually I saw through ROM Manager that the full release of 7 was out so I downloaded, took a backup, wiped everything and did a fresh install of the new ROM.
It installed fine, but none of my apps that needed root access were getting it.
So I booted into recovery, restored my backup, root was back.
I then installed 7.0 over my RC2. That worked fine, but again root was gone.
At this point, my phone started damaging SD cards.
It suddenly started saying that my 8GB card that came with the phone was damaged. I tried to fix it on the phone, but it just said 'Checking card' and then giving up.
Putting it in an old MP3 player, it is not detected at all.
Putting it in a card reader, the card is unreadable and when I try to format it Windows says the card is 'read only' (this is not due to the reader).
I put a functional 2gb card I had lying around into my Desire Z and it broke it in the exact same way.
My question to you guys is - what could be causing this and how do I fix it because I have a 16gb card coming and I'm obviously cautious of putting it in the phone.
Also, how would I go about flashing the new Cyanogenmod 7.02 ROM if my phone keeps breaking SD cards I put into it?
This error can be because when ever you install a CyanogenMod ROM over another, It leaves files your new ROM think is useful such as data that the new ROM doesn't support. It is damaging your SD Card because it keeps attempting to fix the error but is making it worst by trying to remove system files. Your best bet is to try another ROM and see if it does the same thing and report it to CyanogenMod Developer Team if it only does this to CyanogenMod ROMs otherwise it would be just a virus on your SD Card feeding off of personal data. If it is only CyanogenMod ROMs, we will adress this issue ASAP. Hope I helped
Thank you VS4, you are indeed helpful
I've since heard some people have managed to fix their SD cards by formatting them in ClockworkMod but I can't even mount it first in order to do this! Is my card truly dead?
Also, do you think the reason that CM7.0 had no root (even when it was a clean install) was due to me not 'fixing permissions'?
Thanks
Just a note to say that I've managed to fix it!
Despite being unable to 'mount sdcard' in clockworkmod, I found I was able to activate USB Storage and through this I was able to format the card (Windows 7 was previously saying that the same card was 'read only' in a multitude of card readers).
I hope this helps any poor chap with the same problem.
I had this exact same problem, munched 2 of my 8GB cards, and had a 16 on the way. I somehow fixed it before the 16 came and I've never had the issue since, glad to see an explanation of it.
Thanks, nofixio!
I had the same problem on my Samsung Fascinate with CM7. It ate my 16GB SD card to the point where the phone wouldn't recognize it, CWM wouldn't mount it, and it wouldn't show up on my computer in multiple SD readers.
I wasn't quite clear what you were suggesting when you said you were able to "activate USB Storage." I thought maybe you meant within CWM. That didn't work for me, but I was able to boot the phone up with the problem SD card in it and turn on USB storage as normal. Suddenly my computer could not only see the SD card, it could see all the files that were on it before it died! I backed everything up, formatted the card in Windows, and everything's good now. Thanks for the tip!

I'm not sure why you would ask this in such an old thread but... Try just plugging it in to your computer maybe? What ROM are you on?

im running cm7 ... it wont read from computer. i tried several micro sd card readers. it just tells me it cant format. its just like what was mentioned before.
Weird, I've never had any problems with Cyanogen 7 roms. I've flashed one over another and had no issues at all, Mayb because I use SuperWipe before hand? Or maybe its a certain sd card issue???
Running Desire Z and Andromadus Beta 11 I had similar problem after I had applied remote wipe from Exchange (wanted to see if it works). Remote wipe worked: it destroyed contents of SD card and erased phone back to factory settings. After wipe mounting SD card failed and Andromadus seemed to be unable to format the card.
Solution: Booted phone to Clockwork recovery and applied advanced -> Partition SD Card.
Posted this on this thread since it came first when searching solution.

Go into Recovery (Clockwork), go to mounts and storage, then scroll down and it should say mount USB storage.

[Q] EVO Will Not Mount

My EVO randomly stopped mounting to computers yesterday. I say randomly because I did not install or flash anything. It just worked one day and then stopped the next. It charges fine but when I plug it into a computer it only charges. I do not get the notification in the bar saying charge only or even the choice to pick if I would like to mount. It acts as if I have just plugged it into a wall charger.
I am currently running:
Myn's Warm 2.2 rls 5
2.6.32.27-netarchy-toastmod-4.3.4-cfs-havs-less-nosbc
Any Ideas?
You basically have 2 choices: Mount the card via recovery (plug the EVO to your computer via USB and then select MS-USB from within recovery.) or reflash the rom. Yes, there are other methods, but I'm mentioning to 2 common method.

Doh! Forgot to post what I've tried. I did try mounting from recovery (amon-ra) and I get no response from the computer. I then tried a complete wipe. Booted up with the same issue. I checked the memory card with a card reader for errors in windows and got nothing. I tried another memory card in EVO with no difference.
Would it be worth flashing a different rom even though Myn worked with no problems for the past 4 months?

After you did a complete wipe, did you restore Myn's from a backup or did you reflash? If you reflashed the rom, the card should have been mountable. You can insert the card into your card reader and copy its contents onto your computer and then re-partition and re-format the card. Copy the contents back onto the card afterwards. After that, reinsert the card back into your EVO and see if it'll mount for you.

Yes, it is worth a try, but I would try re-partitioning and re-formatting the card first to see if that will help.

I had this problem with a non-rooted Evo. I could not get it to even give the option, then randomly it would work once out of every 20 tries.
After rooting my phone and flashing CM6, it worked.
It could also be your computer or your usb cable. If you haven't, try rebooting your computer.
Repartitioning your card is probably a good idea. I recently repartitioned mine through Amon Ra . Now whenever I connect to my computer it wants to scan & fix it, but I just skip it. Just letting you know in case you run into the same thing.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
I had a somewhat similar issue recently. In my case, rebooting the phone fixed things. Also it can't hurt to try a different USB port on your computer. If you have any other android devices that you connect to your pc (like a tablet or another phone) it can cause this too. rebooting the pc may be worth a try as well.

[Q] sd card safe to remove issue

Hi all
I have a problem with my sdcard..
I cannot mount in on my desire.. I just get a notification saying that it is safe to remove it.
I cannot remount it, nor can the PC recognize the card.
I tried the following..:
reflashing phone with leedroid 2.4.0..no difference
flashed with clockworkmod7.0 .. this gave me some access to the card, but the phone couldn't recognize any files in recovery
finally fixed the issue on CWM by doing an sdformat with a program on the pc (mounted sdcard in adapter)
flashed back to leedroid, same issue.
I did a full wipe of everything I could find in recovery.
I had this problem once before.. but I cannot remember how I fixed it )
I've tried some different solutions found on google. but so far.. nothing...
hope someone can help!
Format sdcard in recovery

[Q] Every SD card is seen as damaged

Hey guys!
So I have a little problem with my C2005.
I've been using CM11 recently, but I decided to switch to stock and to swap external/internal. Everything worked fine for me until one day I woke up noticing my phone is shut down, and after restart the SD card was unable to load, awaring me as of "damaged". I put my SD to to PC and another phones and any other device is able to mount it.
I tried to format the card and reinstall the stock system to phone, but still nothing. :/
Any ideas?
Thanks!

are you ever check your memory card with software partition tool for your pc? just check is that your sd card still have active partition? if still have you still have a hope to recover that bro?
Try boot into custom recovery if visible there. You can partition, format sdcard because all tools available there.
