[Q] Touch Pro 2 will not sync! - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Ok, from browsing the forum and the net in general this problem appears all too common. Some definitve advice please??
The scenario-
1/ Sync has been happening with WMDC with no issues since i got it. SUddenly it stopped a month ago.
2/ Phone is still charging.
3/ Have tried several different cables
4/ All settings on phone correct
5/ Have hard reset phone several times
6/ Have uninstalled WMDC several times
Are there any other options??? I want to put the new ROM on but obviously am unable to at the minute. Incidently this inability to syncronise seems to have coincided with a major decline in battery standby time (which hasnt been rectifed even with 2 replacement batteries of different makes).
Are there any definitive answers for this issue??

- Did you try another computer?
- Did you try deleting the usb drivers on your pc?
If you want to flash another rom, you can just go into the bootloader, then plugin your usb cable and flash the same way as you would when using WMDC. Or flash true your sd card
If you go into the bootloader en plugin your usb, you can check if your usb on your phone is still working.

Thanks. Did the first two already. USB isnt recognised from bootloader, so that doesnt sound good.
This phone has an Orange Windows 6.1 ROM. Will i be able to flash the new HTC Rom via micro sd without Hard SPL???

Hardware failure. I guess a new USB connector (or just needs soldering, but this is not recommended) would be required.

I think i have to accept that, and its out of warranty.
Does the genuine HTC ROM need hard spl fashing to my Orange Rom machine from Micro SD??
In bootloader im ending up with a not-allow message.
Is there instruction on forum for hard spl from SD on touch pro 2? Cant seem to find anything via search.

Ok, found the official HTC Orange WM 6.5 upgrade and downloaded.
According to everything ive read, if i simply extract the RUU_signed file and rename RHODIMG.nbh; then place on my FAT32 formated Micro SD root; then put the phone to bootloader: it should work.
It doesnt.
Cany anyone help here or am i doomed to using the original Orange WM 6.1 Rom until i can afford a new phone??

Computer fail to recognize the Universal via USB on bootloader mode?

As the title states: Why does some computer fail to recognize the Universal via USB on bootloader mode?
I recently reformatted my computer, which I usually do once a year. After installing all my apps back and running windows update on my computer, I installed active sync. Performed a normal reset on my computer, attached my Universal and active sync worked.
Here comes the problem: I decided to roll back to my old AKU 2 QTEK ROM. Of course, I know how to use the Ma_Upgrade No ID file. The problem is my computer now fails to recognize my Universal no matter what I do on bootloader mode. To make it worst, I am now stuck at the bootloader mode with my computer not recognizing it. Any suggestions as to why my computer failed to recognize my Universal?
OK, I was able to get the ROM upgrade going again, by removing my SIM Card and 4GB SD Card. I'll post back if I was able to revive my Universal.
So it seems that my computer failed to recognize my Universal because either the SIM Card or SD Card is causing the conflict.
I had the same problem.... I have two computers one with Win Vista (with the same problem) and another with XP sp1. This computer recognize my pda in boot loader, doesn't matter if still SD card and SIM inside....
Sorry for my english and I didn't tell you a solution...
Hi,
i had the same (very annoying) problems but i always was able to get the Universal back into Windows Mobile.
It was very strange because i started the ROM update and than e.g. it did not go in the Bootloader but back in Windows Mobile so i started it again and than it stucked in the Bl. Hardreset and putting the device again into Bl did not help and i was already very annoyed. I tried to plug in and out the USB-cable but it was always telling me SERIAL and not USB and Windows showed this ****ing popup that one device is not recognized or something like that. I tried a trick to let the cable plugged in USB and than reset and it showed me USB but wheter MA_Upgrade (No ID of course) nor mtty were able to find the device. After several trys and resetting and resetting again i was able to bring it into USB but MA_Upgrade did not work.
The only way to bring back the device from the Bl is the method described in XDA-Wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Instructions for those stuck on Boot Screen)
The problem is that this method does work only half. I did the steps until the command "set 14 0" and started MA_Upgrade BUT it always told me that the device is not connected, it never worked. I was already frustrated so i did again the reset and what happend? It started back into Windows Mobile!
So what i think that after using the command set 14 0 AND running MA_Upgrade reactivated the start of Windows Mobile. I tried the steps very often because i tried to find a solution for the contacts between WM5 and AKU 3.2 or higher but the only way is to ActiveSync them. This really works and this is for sure the guaranteed way to get (at least my) the Universal back to Windows.
Btw for the people who are to lazy to use the search function:
The damn ROM upgrade does NOT work on Vista until now! Even not with the Windows Mobile Device Connection Center (or how it's called). I tried several steps on the RTM Vista but it never worked. Don't waste your time on it!
So far from my side, i hope these experience will help some people
I Got It To Work!!!
I was so worried. Wheeeeew! Anyway back to normal again. I got it to work.
My observation is: My computer failed to recognize my Universal because I was using Active Sync Version 4.5 Beta 2 to update my Universal. The solution is to completely uninstall active sync using the windows remove program under control panel, and manually deleting the active sync folder from the hard drive. I then installed Active Sync Version 4.1 and all was well again.
So my next question to all the guys/gals who had problems with upgrading their device because the computer FAILED to recognize their Universal via USB is: ARE YOU USING THE BETA VERSION OF ACTIVE SYNC?
Actually when you try to upgrade with SD card inserted - only then you will get this error - I spend so many hours of GOD prays for my Universal - and after that I just remove a SD card and everything is back to normal

What is the size of the SD Card you are using? Because when a 2 GB SD Card is inserted, it works just fine. But I experience the error with my 4 GB SD Card.
Unfortunately, i don't share the same luck with all of you.
I've already take out both SD and SIM and try thousand times with ActiVeSync 4.1, 4.2 and 4.5 beta, softreset, hardreset, mtty'ing, but what i got? BIG ZERO.
So my pc always recognise my ppc as "Unknown Device" and there is no, even some slim chance, to get it to work.
Any idea for reviving my uni from black slumber of bootloader screen?
Any help would be appreciated.

use MTTY with "task 28 55aa", "set 14 0", "set 14 9, "set 14 10" and "set 14 20" as described. bootloader screen may be replaced with a blank one, boot it on bootloader mode by "Backlight+Power+Reset"
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Resets
now upgrade as usual, then If you stuck on the bootloader again after upgrading, try to upgrade the bootloader itself

Hi, yes you could be bang on in saying there is a problem with vista, my machine did that as well, I really thought I'd turned the phone into a brick, luckily I've got an xp machine that let me connect with the tools that everybody else is talking about here, the one I used was UNI_ExitBootloader.exe (from this site somewhere) which sends all the codes for you and it only worked from the xp machine, it totally failed on the vista machine.
Tried all suggestions, but no luck
So a failed upgrade has left my Uni stuck in bootloader mode saying "Serial" and "v1.00". When I plug the thing into my Windoze XP machine with Active Sync 4.5 one of three things happens seemingly at random:
1. My mouse stops working
2. It tells me that the USB device is malfunctioning and cannot be recognized
3. Nothing happens
In all cases the Uni still shows the same "Serial" message.
The Uni has no SD or SIM cards in it. I have tried hard resetting it. I've removed and reinstalled Active Sync. I've rebooted this windoze pile of crap about a thousand times.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks,
Saline

Hi. Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately I have already tried the suggestions on that page (that's how I found this thread). As I mentioned above, the device has no similar nor SD in it.
Have you tried to reflash from SD card?

Bit of a newb, would like to upgrade but nervous

Hi,
I have done a lot of searches but can't find the answers.
I have a phone bought from Orange. Waiting for Orange to release the latest HTC update will be pointless and HTC won't let me download latest from site.
to install latest official ROM I believe I need to install one of the hardspl's listed on this site (was going for OliNex1.93)
My works PC will not allow USB connection ( I always use Bluetooth) and just tried to install using activesysnc on my home PC but the comms dropped off at the start of the process.
Can I install hardspl from internal storage? If so how?
Once that is done i believe I will be ok.
It would be best to get active sysnc running first. Although there are other ways. I presume you are using XP and running the installer of ActiveSync 4.5 without having your phone attached.
Have you read this HERE
Internal Drive Method: Radio's & Rom's, Yes
HARD SPL ....not recomended to be done via Internal Drive Method!!
welcome to the forum
just follow instructions to the letter and your be fine
have fun
My home PC is Vista and this is were the update started but then stopped.... a few moment of panic but a soft reset showed nothing had been done.
My work PC is XP but trust me 'nothing' will allow USB activesync to work. Can I do it over Bluetooth.
Yes I have read guides.
If you are using Vista - which version? Vista has an alternative to Active sync named "Windows Mobile Device Center" is this still installed on your PC. you should be able to connect your device and WMDC should detect and load the drivers for your device.
I have noticed in the past that some machine require a restart even for the device to be detected. So do this before you connect your device and report back.
Yep using Windows Mobile Device Centre. Perhaps I should qualify. Bit of a newb on ROM updating but pretty technical on PCs and IT level.

Install of hardspl worked 2nd time
We were all in the same boat at one point Happy Flashing
Mmmmm...
Put hard spl 1.4 onto the device successfully.
Ran the upgrade utility on my PC for latest official ROM.
Got to 100% but then got Upgrade ROM code error
Please try again.
Looked this up and forums advised to extract the .nbh file and put onto root of internal storage.
At present I am at tricolor screen trying to browse to storage from XP PC but no joy.
The device says USB and when I connect my PC tells me it is connected but can not find root drive.
Any pointers?

if you are trying to flash rom from storage card than you don't need your pc. Just rename the nbh to DIAMIMG.NBH and place in root of your storage card. Power on device and it will automatically start the flash process for you.
Problem is I can't locate my storage card to copy and paste the nbh to start the process.

do you have a adapter for your microsd, typically an sd card adapter? if so use that to directly connect storage card to pc and copy-paste

I feel your pain upgraded my rom to the new one today, Ive upgraded in the past but this was first time with the diamond so i was a little nervous
I had stock 1.93 so i put on OliNex1.93 had a problem but i manged by copying SSPLManual.exe to the device.
Installed the rom no problem.
I also used this since i had issues upgrading to make some changes in the rom not sure if i even had to since i changed my SPL but didn't cause any issues
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409425
You will be please when u get the new rom on its faster than the previous official ROMS.
But ya vistas Windows Mobile Device Center can be a pain
In thend I took a deep breath and installed udk ROM.
If I want I can now copy any ROM to my Internal Storage and upgrade.
All worked fine and happy with new device. A big thank you for all help.

Bricked with no USB connection

Can any one help with this?
My Diamond has developed the short battery life/over heating problem, along with the USB connection having failed.
So I put the ROM back to the standard T-Mobile one via Wi-Fi to return for warranty repair.
However, I forgot to change the SPL back, so they are refusing to sort it.
My next thought was to get HTC to repair it, but thought I'd best stick the T-Mobile SPL back for good measure.
But the update failed (tried more than once) and I'm stuck on the bootloader with "Upgrade ROM Code Error, Please Try Again" and only "Serial" showing as a connection option, no USB (yes with a cable connected to a PC).
Is there anyway at all I can get to Internal Storage to try another update?
Thank you.
hello,
i had a similar problem. after flashin a buggy rom the diamond made a reboot and hang at the initializing screen. i tried a garanty repait but htc saw the spl and denys my garanty. so i started to ask google for help.
i got the device in bootloader mode, showing "serial". but i got no active sync connection. but after any tries i got the firmware update tool into "usb" mode and was able to flash. now my diamond is still alive.
maybe you have to play a bit to get it workin..
wish you luck..!
Try with another usb cable, computer. And explane me this

How you can flash rom via wi-fi :S
I've tried 3 PCs and as many USB cables, it appears to be a hardware fault tied in with the overheating...
And sorry, I didn't explain very well regarding the Wi-Fi.
I simply used that as a file transfer method as I couldn't connect via USB. Saved the SPL as diamimg.nbh and did the Vol- + Back reset.
Understand now. Maybe usb connector is damaged by overheating or something else. I can't help you anything because diamond don't have microsd card - can't flash via microsd method

USB error, cant do nothing with it

This is a strange problem, I cant tell when it started but it did all of a sudden. When I try to connect my phone to my computer it all of a sudden does not recognize the device (it shows under USB in device manager as unknown device). This happens on my laptop and stationary one (XP and Windows Home Server). On my work computer and my girlfriends laptop (Windows vista) nothing happens at all. The only thing happens is my phone shows notification about HTC Sync (doesnt show the "mount SD card" option). I cant install modaco 2.x since it says it isnt signed when I try to run update.zip from "home+power" mode.
Anyone knows a solution? I really want to flash either modaco or the official HTC rom.

have you instaled HTC Sync + the Android SDK? Drivers are included, also ensure you have gone to settings > Application Settings > Development.. and selected USB Debugging in the handset
if you have done the above you should be able to...
Sync your device
Do a nandroid backup
Root your device
and flash, flash, flash
hope this helps
Thing is, all those stuff is checked. The strangest thing is that the phone doesnt even ask me if I want to mount the SD card (to make the phone like a card reader). I successfully flashed the generic rom again (so my phone is not rooted etc etc) but it still cant connect to any computer through USB (except from when in bootloader (back+power). Its really starting to bugging me since I cant transfer music to the phone anymore I tried a hard-reset, flashed a generic rom (the new one) and formatted the SD card (the phone can read and write to/from it without problems).
I've got the same problem for quite some time now and still no answers...! :-(
It seems very few people on these boards know of our exact problem and i've never seen a solution. Also not from the many people on these boards I consider guru's. :-(
I'm at a total loss here...
I will call HTC Sweden today and see if they can help me solve this issue. I will get back to this thread as soon as Ive been speaking to them. This is starting to really bugging me.
First of all, I would try reformatting your SD card on the phone itself via Menu-> SD card & Phone Storage. If you need anything on the card, you'll have to stick the SD card in adaptor and attach it to your PC directly.
Secondly, by the sounds of it you haven't flashed Cyanogens recovery image, or your HBOOT is wrong, if you are getting a problem with the signature on Modacos image. Either flash Cyanogen recovery, or follow the instructions found on another thread for restoring your HBOOT to an earlier version.
Regards,
Dave

Should I update something? And how would that help me get USB connection to work outside fastboot? Since its only working in fastboot and not in the android system itself?
Answer from HTC:
If you are getting the 'USB Device not recognized' error in XP, then your device has a faulty USB port. You need to call our repair line to gte it booked in for repair. That really is all there is, once the hardware dies and starts giving that error, there generally is no hope apart from replacing the USB socket or the whole motherboard. best regards, HTC Europe Support
Would have been nice if they could include in this message where I should turn etc?
I had the same error when I flashed my unit with wrong radio image (newer version) without flashing system and boot images. Then I reflashed those as well and everything worked ok.

Is there any update.zip containing all those updates? and would it void my warranty? ex, would HTC be able to see any difference to the hboot etc?
Any guide you could point me to on how to update all those things?

ActiveSync connection not working.... Need to flash SPL

Title explains most of the problem, my phone wont connect to my pc using active sync. If I plug it in, the device shows it is charging, but I cant get anything else, no disk drive, no active sync, no internet sharing. I thought at first it was a USB problem on the phone, but it charges fine on all chargers and even charges on the PC.
so question is, what can I do to make it work and I need to change the spl to .82 (tmobile stock) so i can do a warranty exchange. Any one know if I can flash SPL from sd card like I can on Android devices.
Currently I have spl .79 , the stock winmo 6.5 tmobile rom and latest tmobile radio.

Before you go to extremes, have you you tried changing the USB to PC settings? Try this:
Uncheck the box that says "Enable faster data syncronization", unplug, replug. No dice?

yea, no luck. Ive done a system restore on my PC and all. My PC has been freaking out lately and I am in safe mode right as a matter of fact removing some junk and what not. It will detect the phone, but then when it is installing drivers for it, it ALWAYS fails. no matter what USB port. I have even tried other computers and no luck with that either. I am pretty sure its the USB port on the phone.
so it leads me to my question, can i flash to the .82 SPL from my sdcard or am i pretty much just SOL
Ironic......
I have a similiar but different problem.
I need to do a warranty exchange because my touch screen has stopped working. Unfortunately the last time I used my phone I used internet sharing so now whenever I attach via usb it comes up as internet sharing and it will not let me change it to Activesync. I need to put the stock rom back on the phone so I can send it back. I'm stumped......

All you need to do is boot into the bootloader (turn off the device, then press power while holding [Volume down]), plug the device into your computer, and flash as usual. Just make sure you put back the appropriate stock SPL (which can be found in the HardSPL thread) after you flash back to the stock ROM, if the stock ROM you're flashing doesn't include it. You can verify that you have a stock SPL by looking at the bootloader, since a stock SPL will not say OliNex anywhere.
palosjr: AFAIK, there's no way to flash an SPL via SD card on the Rhodium, or most HTC Windows Mobile devices for that matter. I would highly recommend finding another computer, like one at your local library, to flash the SPL with.

It wont be detected by any computer. It only charges. For some reason it wont detect as a USB device, it always fails to load the drivers. I am going tomorrow to a DrCellPhone place to have them see what they can do with it, if it is the USB its 25 to get it replaced with a new warranty.
funny, I have exactly the same problem with the same device, everything is working (charge the battery, headphones via mini usb, ...) but I can not sync with my pc. I hoped that I need a special HTC usb cable for that?!
But I assume, that I have this problem due to the fact that I charged the battery with 5V and 2 Ampere ... maybe that has broken one connector?
