Hi,
I have done a lot of searches but can't find the answers.
I have a phone bought from Orange. Waiting for Orange to release the latest HTC update will be pointless and HTC won't let me download latest from site.
to install latest official ROM I believe I need to install one of the hardspl's listed on this site (was going for OliNex1.93)
My works PC will not allow USB connection ( I always use Bluetooth) and just tried to install using activesysnc on my home PC but the comms dropped off at the start of the process.
Can I install hardspl from internal storage? If so how?
Once that is done i believe I will be ok.
It would be best to get active sysnc running first. Although there are other ways. I presume you are using XP and running the installer of ActiveSync 4.5 without having your phone attached.
Have you read this HERE
Internal Drive Method: Radio's & Rom's, Yes
HARD SPL ....not recomended to be done via Internal Drive Method!!
welcome to the forum
just follow instructions to the letter and your be fine
have fun
My home PC is Vista and this is were the update started but then stopped.... a few moment of panic but a soft reset showed nothing had been done.
My work PC is XP but trust me 'nothing' will allow USB activesync to work. Can I do it over Bluetooth.
Yes I have read guides.
If you are using Vista - which version? Vista has an alternative to Active sync named "Windows Mobile Device Center" is this still installed on your PC. you should be able to connect your device and WMDC should detect and load the drivers for your device.
I have noticed in the past that some machine require a restart even for the device to be detected. So do this before you connect your device and report back.
Yep using Windows Mobile Device Centre. Perhaps I should qualify. Bit of a newb on ROM updating but pretty technical on PCs and IT level.

Install of hardspl worked 2nd time
We were all in the same boat at one point Happy Flashing
Mmmmm...
Put hard spl 1.4 onto the device successfully.
Ran the upgrade utility on my PC for latest official ROM.
Got to 100% but then got Upgrade ROM code error
Please try again.
Looked this up and forums advised to extract the .nbh file and put onto root of internal storage.
At present I am at tricolor screen trying to browse to storage from XP PC but no joy.
The device says USB and when I connect my PC tells me it is connected but can not find root drive.
Any pointers?

if you are trying to flash rom from storage card than you don't need your pc. Just rename the nbh to DIAMIMG.NBH and place in root of your storage card. Power on device and it will automatically start the flash process for you.
Problem is I can't locate my storage card to copy and paste the nbh to start the process.

do you have a adapter for your microsd, typically an sd card adapter? if so use that to directly connect storage card to pc and copy-paste

Hello,
I am trying to get my hermes back to factory settings becuase I want to sell it. But I am experiencing some difficulties. I downloded the original shipped WM6 rom and launced the PDA Phone ROM Update Utility. With my phone conected to active sync, I go through the steps and at the step when they ask the check the boxes, the phone goes into bootloader. At this point the conection with active Sync is gone but my windows still detects it. ( I can hear the sound that plays when Windows detects a device in the usb). I clikc "next" and move along with the PDA Phone RUU. Then the RUU upgrade progress bar appears stuck at 0% and gives me ERROR[260]: CONNECTION.
I have to do a hard reset on my phone to get it to boot the OS.
I have also tried to flash with other ROMS but still get the same error in RUU.
Any help?
What OS are you using? Windows XP? Vista?
If you have Hard SPL V7 on your Hermes use the sd card method.
Format 2Gb or less sd card Fat32. Copy the .nbh file onto it and rename to hermimg.nbh. Put sd card back into Hermes and reset to bootloader. If all is right, follow the prompts.
Cheers...
I've used both xp and vista. still same result.
As far as using the microsd method, I have a 4gb sandisk microsd formatted to FAT32. Im geussing it has to be 2 gb or less?
Im still a little upset that this is happening. It stared doing this after I installed Tai's WM6.5 v9 rom.
On the XP machine do you have .net framework 3.5?
Also, you could try to download a custom RUU.
Cheers...

put your phone in boot loader mode, connect the usb cable, you should then see usb on the bottom of the screen of the boot loader, now load the Rom you want
You forgot to untick "Allow USB Connections" in activesync and to have Hard SPL on the Hermes. If you don't have Hard SPL then you can only flash the Shipped stock rom.
Cheers...
I tried flashing a cooked ROM but now it stays on the splash screen.
I can get the striped screen up (IPL-0.50 SPL-1.07.0000) which displays USB when usb lead plugged in BUT I cant see the PDA through vista or xp-So I can't reflash using sync.I need to flash through SD card...this failed when i renamed the NBH file...Any help would be appreciated..Thanks
on + cam + reset and restore the original rom with Usb, also the actsyn dont see the phone.(xp not vista)
No good..I tried this, the trinity is invisible to the xp pc, but pc does make the connecting sound.
Try also the actsync no connect and no see the Phone(not connected). Only the original rom Work in this manner.

But if the PC makes the connecting sound then it is connected and flash should work. I always flash my phone this way.
In the device manager under Mobile Devices do you see HTC USB Sync?
BTW do you use Vista to flash? The vista drivers for the HTC USB Sync don't work. You have to install the drivers from XP to flash a phone this way.
Sounds to me like your phone is not unlocked, or does not have Hard SPL installed.
Be sure to read these forums to verify everything is set up correctly to flash cooked roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=312
Good luck, and report back if you still cannot get it to work.
I can confirm that the phone IS unlocked, power+camera reset leaves it with striped screen, L/H + R/H softkey+reset gets it to bootloader and eventually to failed ROM splash screen, same with simple reset.
Connecting to XP gets a connect sound BUT phone is not displayed by exploring or by activesync.
Because the PC can't see the PDA, it can't flash. I feel flashing with SD card is the way forward...almost any rom would do-just to get PC to "see" PDA through USB. If anybody has a foolproof SD rom flash I would be grateful. Thanks

But did you look into the device manager after you hear the bingbong sound to see if there is a mobile device listed there?
If there is delete it, disconnect and reconnect.
Do you have olipro hard spl on your phone?
Noob scratching head lots!!
Hi Adejager, my PDA doesn't come up on the support screen at all. It MIGHT be a usb socket to Motherboard problem. I can sort that out later, after I flash through sd card. (BTW i don't have OLIPRO hard SPL). if I can get a rom flashed with card I can then move forward
you need to install hard spl, and it will solve your problem, i had same exact problem before.
Hi PP
Yes, but how do i flash hard spl via mini sd card?? (usb not working)

Download the Hard-SPL file, unzip it and copy the .nbh file to the root folder of your Mini SD card, but be sure to rename it to "TRINIMG.nbh". Then, insert the SD card and boot into the bootloader.
Hey Guys
I am a new member as you can all see, and i have been wanting to update my Touch Dimond for ages now but after installing the HardSPL, i kept getting Update Error 262 when trying to install a new Radio or ROM.
So after Reading Countless Threads and trying a million different things, i figured this out.
Start:
>>Make sure you have HardSPL 1.93 installed
>>Then when installing a ROM, take the diamimg.nbh file and put it into the root dir of your internal storage.
>>Then take another copy of that diamimg.nbh file and put it into the HardSPL folder
>> Manually Start the bootloader by holding down the "down volume" Key and Turning off the Phone, keep you finger on the down volume key ALL THE TIME, restart the phone with your finger still keeping the volume key down, the phone will now start in Bootloader mode.
>>Now connect your phone to the PC via USB, and start the RUU.
>>The ROM Installation will now start.
I hope this has helped, this is how i eventually got the installation to work.
Thanks guy

Haven't had this problem myself, but it's good to hear that you got the problem solved Well done mate.
How is the computer supposed to recognize the phone when its in the bootloader ? if i do what you are telling me to do the RUU doesnt find the diamond and the phone keeps saying loading!
I guess the flaw of this solution is if you don't have access to an OS or can't transfer the file through ActiveSync then you can't copy the file.
But the installer can still see your device in some cases. Make sure to disable "Enable USB connections" in the ActiveSync icon->Connection Settings... and then run the updater.

your all missing the point, you can flash from usb directly from bootloader!! al the ruu does is switch the device into bootloader mode then flash, if your device is already in bootloader mode it just flashes.
so if you run the ruu and get error 262 disconnect the usb, you will see the word "serial" appear, then reconnect the usb and after a driver install "USB" will appear.
can i just ask, all you people have the correct active sync driver installed right? i.e. the ones i posed in my thread HERE If you are using vista or win7 you MUST FOLLOW POST 2!!
if you do not install these drivers vista and win 7 CANNOT communicate with the bootloader.
verify you have my drivers installed and then post back please

to be honest, i did tried your drivers, but have two problems
1. if your drivers installed, when in bootloader, windows7 (vista) do not "see" my diamond, though cannot communicate with it
2. if i leave the "download drivers automaticly from the net" and windows installs his drivers, i do have communication with the diamond, rru also "SEES" it, but mtty doesnt work with those drivers.
<tried both win7 ultimate and home premium>
workaround that i find usefull and works for me, is to have xp as a virtual machine, using your drivers, so mtty work fine
Hey XDA world, a few years ago i got hooked up by a guy on here, we met up and he flashed my old Kaiser. I would normally do this myself but i now have a MAC computer and it does not recognize the files etc etc lame lame etc.
If there is anyone in the LA area that would like a nice warm pint of ale direct from England in exchange for a 6.5 ROM update I would be more than appreciative.
Thanks
I'm assuming you're talking about flashing HSPL? Certainly, you know someone with a Windows PC that can help you out? Otherwise, you're out of luck unless someone here volunteers.
If you've already flashed HSPL, then you're in luck. You can flash ROMs via MicroSD. The following is from the ROM flashing guide.
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to RHODIMG.nbh
4. Copy the RHODIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
I'm using bootcamp
In order to flash my Rhodium, I'm using bootcamp with a Win XP installation and activesync method.
I tryied every possible virtualization available, none was able to flash my device.
PS: I used to use VMWare to flash my Omnia on Windows 7 64bits

Same here. I'm using a Macbook Pro, Boot Camp w/XP, Activesync. Works fine!
I'm using VMWARE's Fusion with XP to flash my device, been using this set up for quite some time.
Only issue i face is sometime it takes too long for XP to recognize the device when the RUU puts it into bootloader mode causing the RUU installer to time out and tell me theres an error. I just re-run the updater/installer and it all works fine

Hah, yeah. Windows XP is definitely not free. Bootcamp is no longer free; however, it comes installed on new Macs with Leopard or Snow Leopard.

When i bought my phone i was told that it was sent to them as a tester from HTC and that it had already been flashed HSPL, how do i go about checking this?
My ATT TILT 2 is a broken mess as far as the earpiece and microphone go, so I setup a return to AT&T.
I need to flash the stock ROM. I have it.
I just can't get my phone to connect to damn activesync!!! I have Windows MObile Device Center 6.1 Windows 7 64 bit.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, everything. Going nuts!
I plug in my phone, select ACTIVE SYNC, then my phone connects and installs the driver "REMOTE NDIS INTERNET SHARING BLAH BLAH" anyway!!!
I uninstalled/removed/disabled this driver, but it keeps coming up no matter what i pick!!?! ANYONE WITH ANY HELP I WILL BE SOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!
I was supposed to mail this phone back yesterday but I can't even flash the ROM AHHHHHHHHH
You were supposed to mail it back on a Sunday?
You don't need Windows mobile device center to flash.
1. Go into the bootloader.
2. Plugin your usb (you should see usb at the bottom of the phone)
3. Flash true your pc (customruu.exe)
This is way easier then using active sync of WMDC

No, you don't get it. It loads the internet sharing driver no matter what - it will not load the activesync driver.
I know I don't need the software to load a ROM, but the customruu.exe just displays connection errors because it's ALWAYS installed as the RDIM INTERNET SHARING DEVICE

Unreal. can't do anything. Tried multiple computers, SD Card won't work, this is pathetic.
F this phone
It always always always becomes a modem...on every single computer...>even when i clearly select "activesync" ---- fml!
Finally got it working.
Put Sim Card back in, accepted the network connection instead, connected via Media Net. Then I disconnected, unplugged USB, replugged, then did activesync and it worked.
No idea why. None. It worked. Yay. What a hassle!
