I purchased a Samsung digital camera recently, which records video. It came with a 3.5mm to RCA (yellow/red/white) cable to connect the camera to TV.
Shouldn't this very same cable work for the Vibrant? I connected it to a couple of different TVs, but all I'm getting is black screen with white lines. I tried plugging in each cable individually into the video in on my TV, but all 3 seem to produce garbage (sort of like a scrambled cable channel). Red and White do work for sound, but none work for video. If I switch TV out on the Vibrant to PAL, I'm getting pretty much the same thing except with bad tracking.
So... are 3.5mm RCA cables not all created equal? I know there are some cables that have video signal on a different color cable, but I can't get any of the colors to output video.
Thanks in advance.
Hi. Actually, I started a similar thread a few weeks back. The short of it is this:
1. Not all cables are created equally. I tried 4 sets of cables before getting one that works. Note each cable was of a different origin - 3 sets were from devices I had collected over the years. I ended up buying a caked that worked from Radio Shack.
2. For the cable that worked, it required connecting the red into the yellow port, and plugging the yellow into the red port.
3. Some tvs will not work regardless of the cable used.
The key is that it is not your phone. I had gone that route as well.

I did a search and didn't see anything about this, so I'll post my question.
Has anyone gotten this to work? I plugged in my a/v cable (3.5mm to RCA) into the adapter that came with the TP2, and it into the TP2 usb port, then connected the RCA ends to my TV and when I tried to start the TV out under settings, it said I needed the TV Out cable.
I couldn't find anything in the provided documentation about this (surprise). I don't have the HTC cable, nor do I have the iphone/ipod cable, but I can't believe that this one would be any different from the icrap one, it's a freaking standard.
Any one?
The video out is actually the usb port. You need to buy a cable that is usb to composite
If your cable is iPod compatible, you should be able to install this get TV Out to work.
this is what i bought and it works great with my sprint tp2 http://www.expansys-usa.com/d.aspx?i=179148
I dont understand what you mean by iPod compatible?
Dont I need HTC's special USB video cable? Does anybody have a wireing schematic on that so I can make one? I have a million 3.5mm to rca cables lying around but that wont work...

From my understanding (my tilt2 hasn't come yet, so I can't confirm) you should have an adapter that comes with your device that converts the ext-USB into a 3.5 mm headphone jack. You can plug an HTC 3.5mm to RCA cable in that jack, or put an iPod compatible RCA cable (uses the same pinouts as HTC's cable and is essentially identical, but cheaper) and change HKLM\Software\HTC\H2W\TVOutCableIn to "1" in the registry in order to get it working. The software I linked to should do this automatically, so you don't have to do that each time. However, I don't know if this works on the TP2 since I don't have mine yet.
My touch pro 2 didnt come with that. I actually have a usb jack, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom. It is the Verizon version.
Ok, I followed the instructions on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CLPjcImHAg&feature=fvw
I did both reg hack changing 0 to 1, as well as trying the icon under settings. The reg hack did bring up the screen, but nothing was outputted to the TV. I can't believe my 3.5mm -> RCA cable is any different than an "ipod compatible" one, it has the 4 bands on the 3.5mm jack and 3 RCAs for audio (l/r) and video. Is there something I'm missing? I don't want to buy the HTC usb/rca cable, and would be pretty upset if I got it and it still didn't work.
i tried it with my camcorder cable and the extusb adapter supplied with my phone. no luck. my camcorder cable only has 3 bands. does this make a difference? i have literally hundreds of cables. i'll have to search and try out a few others. or i'll just buy the official one on ebay if necessary.
I attempted this tonite. Did not work.
Sprint TP2
Apple iBook AV cable - 3.5mm -> 3way RCA yel, red, white
HTC EXTusb adapter.
tried 2 different cabs (enabletvout.cab and nuetvout-102-v1) as well as just changing the reg value to 1.
tried changing around the rca cables to the video input on tv..
I was able to get the tv out options to display on the phone, but NOTHING ever went out to the TV.
I hear people are having success with the oficial HTC tp2 tv out cable, which is a miniUSB -> 3 way rca.
Any success using the 3.5mm jack on a sprint tp2 ?
I had some luck with a cable I had but found that I needed to use the Red RCA as my video and the Yellow and White as audio.

i was all excited but that didnt work for me.
I had to purchase the extusb to av jack like this one.
AV Cable Works great.
You don't need to install the TV out cab. It will auto pop up when the cable is inserted. Most roms have this built in. The Tilt 2 stock rom does.
I used the original HTC OEM multi adapter with my 3.5mm RCA cable after prying it open and cutting the blue cable, which enables Tv out on my Tilt 2, but disables headphone use which is why im putting a switch in there.
well, I purchased the USB to video output cable and it workd fine.. HOWEVER only certain program work.. for instance, I wanted to see if I could watch sprint TV using the TV out and it tells me it can not run wth tv out. is there any way to do this??
Do a search on PPCGeeks.com forums for "How did you get the tv out/video out to work on the touch pro 2." I had to remove/cut the blue wire from the multi-adapter which came w/ my TP2. Hook up a standard 3.5mm jack to composite cable that came with my camcorder. Then I was able to get audio and video working on my 47" TV. No other software was required. The only thing is, you have to swap the yellow cable with the red. Red now provides the video signal. Otherwise, everything else works great.
Credit goes to the original poster in PPCGeeks.com. I would have provided a link to the instructions, but since I'm still new on this site, my posting privileges are still limited. Good luck everyone. I hope this was the answer you were looking for.
What are we all talking about? on my TP2 (SPRINT) I bought a cable for video and audio output that has USB on one end and RCA plugs on the other end. I just plug it into the USB port of the TP2 and hook up the RCA to my TV. It also has a port for plugging in the charger while the video out cable is plugged it...

This is another option for those who do not wish to purchase the $20 - $25 USB to composite cables for the video outputs. Most of us received the USB multi-port device with our TP2. But by just cutting the blue wire from that device, you can have video output with a standard 3.5mm to composite cable (Red, white, yellow). Some of us may have this cable lying around the house. It usually comes with camcorders. If not, many places sell these standard cables for about $2 to $5. It's just information for those who wish to spend as little money as possible. That's all. Good luck.
All the video cables I find have the regular mini usb data cable port and not the different HTC mini usb port. Are there video cables with the HTC usb port?
To clarify, the part that plugs into the phone is the HTC plug, but the plug for the charger midway down the cable is the plug I'm referring to. Where can I find one with the HTC usb plug instead of the mini usb?

I cannot find a USB to composite cable anywhere on the net. I don't think that it would even work with the TP2 video out capabilities.
I have read plenty of people who have the same problem. When I plug in the phone to the tv via hdmi the phone freezes and resets. I have not found a solution for this. It seems like it is really hit and miss. Any help?
anyone? please?
I'm not sure if this helps but I had the same issue and switched to another HDMI port on my TV and it worked flawlessly.. I notice that the port i was trying to use shows up on the TV menu as HDMI/DVI for some reason even though it is clearly NOT a DVI port
Your cable is probably bad. Mine started to freeze up after working fine for two weeks. I checked the cable and the cord was coming apart at the top by the full hdmi connector.
Two new monoprice cables I got since have been flawless. The first was an amzer from ebay.
Has anyone used the HDMI option on their A100? I have been trying to get it to work for the last 45 minutes and cant. The tablet recognizes that a HDMI cable is plugged in, but I get no display on my tv. Ive tried connecting directly to my tv and also tried going through my surround sound receiver.
Im using a micro hdmi cable that came with my Motorola Atrix 4G. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
Thanks.
I've used an hdmi to micro hdmi cable from monoprice and it worked perfectly. I used a 15 ft cable and the screen was crisp and clear. A little stretch on the sides, but bearable...

I ran into the same problem with my HDMI out. Initially, I got nothing, so I switched to a different cable. After a delay of a couple seconds, I was able to get a signal BUT it would drop if the cable moved even the slightest bit. I played with it for a while, but it was obvious that there was a problem with the physical connection. I returned the tablet to Wally-World for a replacement, and the new one works perfectly.
Thanks for the responses guys. Im going to try a new cable and if that doesn't work I'll go for a replacement.

Hi there,
I'm looking at returning back to the Android scene with a nice shiny new S3 after being over on the dark side with my iPhone (I know I know!!!). However, I do love one of the things I can do with my iPhone which is listen to my music in the car via the port at the bottom by using a Y cable which splits the output into a USB plug (for charging) and a 3.5mm Jack for AUX in sound.
Does the S3 offer music output and charging via the micro USB slot at the bottom? Has anyone tried this? I've done numerous search's and keep coming up short, with the exception of a post on here that shows the amendment of an iPhone Y cable into a Micro USB version, but that was for the S2.
If your interested in a car dock the Samsung infuse dock works for a single dock connection, but of course the dock has a charger and audio lead.
Hmm, worth thinking about! It's the all in one solution I'm after, so this might work.
Any idea if Samsung are going to bring an official dock for the s3?

We are all looking but the only thing official so far was a cradle (no connections). Speculation was perhaps an inductive charging dock but?..

The microusb does support outputting audio+taking in power.
I haven't seen a cheap cable for that purpose but just made one myself in the end from an old usb cable, an audio cable and a 690K resistor.
A y-cable made for the S2 should work fine on the S3 (that is what I based my cable on)
Ebay will probably have something suitable
Thanks for that, any write up on how it's done? What's the sound quality like please?

....or say "pandora" and enjoy the tunes without touching the screen
Hello everyone,
This is my 2nd note II. My first device had a few problems and now this one seems to have a loose charger port. Also, when I connect this device to my tv via microusb, the tv screen flickers (could be an indicator of a faulty micro usb port). Has anyone had the problem of their charger wire falling out of the microusb port? What did you do to fix it? If you sent it to samsung did they return the device in working condition without any dings or scratches?
Thanks im adv

Mine was perfect for the first few weeks, but eventually got a bit loose so I replaced the USB cable which did the trick. Ive heard of other cases where the usb ports became loose, but not to the point of it falling off on its own.
Have you tried other USB cables on your phone?

hey i did try the usb wire that came with my samsung media dock... its a bit more snug, but it came off randomly after a while. my samsung otg usb cable fits great... the thing that concerns me is that sometimes when i connect my device to my media dock (uses the microusb port) which connects my phone to my tv, the screen on the tv flickers. this could be an indication of a faulty microusb port... but heres the confusing thing, ive tried transferring files to and from my computer via microusb and it works fine, so that would be an indication of a working usb port.
from what you have heard or read, was the consensus a problem with the usb port or the wire?
thanks
Yes, the wire was the culprit based on my reading.
Better have your phone checked. Im sure it's well within Samsung's warranty period
Ironically the best cable i use is a blackberry one, excellent secure fit
