I ordered an Amzer Micro HDMI cable for my Evo a few days ago, and it works and all, but if the cable wiggles around a little bit, it disconnects and reconnects shortly after. The cable does feel very loose in the port (much looser than the MicroUSB cables feel in the charge connector).
Has anyone else had this problem with their Evo, or has anyone found a solution (like a different brand of HDMI cable that works better)?
I ordered the same one last week. No word on when it will ship though. I'll let you know if my cable is loose when I get it.
I am having the same problem with the Amzer HDMI cable. I would have to push the cable downwards in order to get the video to play. If I wiggled it or pushed it up, the picture would be lost. I will replace it once I get fed up with the cable.
I don't know about the amazon cable, but I did order the HDMI cable from the same guy who sold the two batteries and wall charger for 10 bucks on eBay. When I played around with the cable it did feel loose. But when I forced the plug into the phone it went in further and made a solid connection.
Don't know if that will work for you guys too
I had this issue with my OEM micro-usb. I bought 6 more USB cables ranging from 3ft - 10ft... they work fine now. Check the actual cable to see if the pins move around, that may be the issue... aka poor construction

I have exactly the same issue with the cable I got from Monoprice. I couldn't hold the phone and move it around as it would intermittently disconnect. But if I set the phone down the connection stayed throughout.
Before you guys get all up in arms I have the "official" HDMI cable from Sprint and it is loose too. Its the socket not the cable. I'm on my second EVO and they were both the same way, loose.
anyone else have this problem? I have the monoprice cable and the connection is flaky. My EVO is only 2 weeks old.
Same thing here with monoprice cables. It isn't 100% the socket though, as my buddy's cable works perfectly fine in my evo. Don't know where he got his, but will find out.

Has anyone used the HDMI option on their A100? I have been trying to get it to work for the last 45 minutes and cant. The tablet recognizes that a HDMI cable is plugged in, but I get no display on my tv. Ive tried connecting directly to my tv and also tried going through my surround sound receiver.
Im using a micro hdmi cable that came with my Motorola Atrix 4G. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
Thanks.
I've used an hdmi to micro hdmi cable from monoprice and it worked perfectly. I used a 15 ft cable and the screen was crisp and clear. A little stretch on the sides, but bearable...

I ran into the same problem with my HDMI out. Initially, I got nothing, so I switched to a different cable. After a delay of a couple seconds, I was able to get a signal BUT it would drop if the cable moved even the slightest bit. I played with it for a while, but it was obvious that there was a problem with the physical connection. I returned the tablet to Wally-World for a replacement, and the new one works perfectly.
Thanks for the responses guys. Im going to try a new cable and if that doesn't work I'll go for a replacement.

hi all i got my self a mhl cable a few week ago and kept losing signal to my tv with it so i got a replacement and this one does the same... basicly i get the old style white noice screen at random when trying to use my phone and tv.. ps also their is alot of color banding with this mhl i have...
please please please help me, where can i buy one that will be problem free,
ps on a side note... can multiple bluetooth devices be connected at once.. ie i have a mini rii keyboard and the touch mouse is a pain to use so if i used that with normal bluetooth mouse would both function ok side by side?
I cant help you about the MHL adapter. Sorry.
Regarding Bluetooth devices. I use a BT keyboard, Microsoft BT mouse and a headset at the same time and it is working without any problems.
regarding your mhl cable
is your data (3G) turned on?
if its on then turn it off and try connecting your device to your lcd again
i had the same problem and i thought it was from the cable
but i read somewhere that if the data (3G) is on it will cause the disconnection because of the search for better signal and reconnecting to it
hope this helps you as it did for me
read something new about the 3G may affect the signal to TV. Mine also kinda weird - my MHL adaptor can output my Note screen to my home Panasonic 720p LCD TV and Samsung 27" 1920x1020 LCD monitor with no problem (but it looks much smoother on the 720p when zooming in and out) but it can't work with my in-law's Panasonic Full HD LCD TV. After connected, no signal at all.
yeah you really can see the color banding when its on a big screen. its there on the small display too, just harder to see.
did i hear right that with ics this will go away as they will switch to a high color depth always?
Thought I would ask the obvious question. Have you actually plugged in the phone charger to the side port of the MHL cable when using the MHL to output to the television.
Try connecting the charger to the MHL cable and then to TV and then to phone. Cause otg cable gives errors when done the other way around, so guessing MHL might give similar problems if you don't connect them in the proper sequence.
hiall thankyou so much for info.. ill try tonight..
@Teflanzy - ill try this 3g thing as i use wifi at home so this will not effect my usage
@bubblesmoney - yes mte it dont work at all without power cable, its required on the leads i have
as for colour banding im happy now i know its not just me and ics might solve this
hi all after much effort of testing i still get the signal loss even with 3g turned off is their any other solutions as the guy i got it from sent me a 3rd cable and all of them do the same
i had same issue.
solution is buy original, or very close to original samsung cable, i bought one and no more drops.

If it's visible on a TV then at least it's 100% certainly not a Note screen issue but purely a software problem.

Hii everybody. In a big problem here. I have a galaxy s2. I9100.
Got a MHL cable from ebay. Supposed to be official SAMSUNG adaptor.
http://www.ebay.in/itm/170773709311?...ht_2211wt_1139
And a high speed universal HDMI cable.
Now my problem is that when I connect this HDMI cable to the MHL and to the Charger and the mobile, it doesn't work the way it is supposed to be.
It connects fine to my TV(Toshiba HDTV) and mirrors the display, but only for few seconds. The screen on the TV goes completely blacked out, while the display on mobile is fine. Now I have to disconnect the MHL and connect again to the mobile to get the mirroring on the TV back. Again after few minutes the same happens. I can see the mobile charging via USB and even though the display drops on the TV, the TV is still in the HDMI mode(a black screen). Coz when I disconnect the MHL completely the screen on TV turns blue(indicating no input).
So this shud not be the case of loose connection.
Now can anybody help me diagnose the problem here.
Is it the MHL?
Is it the HDMI cable.(Although HDMI works perfectly with my laptop and TV)?
Is it the Charger? (Using samsung's box charger)
Is it the mobile, hardware or firmware? (on DDKL1 official release)
i have this problem like screen goes black out for a few sec at certain time on my toshiba regza. but its working fine on my phlilps tv. maybe you can try turning your cell into flight mode and see if it will help a certain? some said data may cause the interupt of it.

Thanks a lot dude. It worked.
But can't understand the relation between 3G and HDMI..
Anyways you made my day.
CHEERS.
I'm glad I read up on this before purchasing. I saw some fake Samsung versions, MIChn, I assume the OEM is MIKor? Please confirm if you bought the original.
I am also having problems with my MHL adaptor. I purchased one for £6.60 from eBay.
I contacted the seller as it was not working and they kindly sent me a second one, however that is also not working.
I have tried turning USB debugging on and off but it makes no difference. All that happens is it says USB connected and then almost immediately says USB disconnected.
I tried changing the order of how I plug the cable in to the power and HDMI and phone but still the same thing happens.
I previously had an HTC Desire HD so I am used to being able to select from options when a USB is connected!
Has anyone else managed to get one of the cheap MHL cables to work or will I have to purchase an official one?
Thanks for your help!
P.S. Hi, I'm new here!
mhl issue solved thanks for the solution

I am also having a problem with my mhl cable. Nothing happens when I connect it to my Galaxy Note. I'm running stock rooted version 4.0.4.
Is it a firmware problem? Thanks in advance

I want to hook up my Galaxy Nexus to an older HD Sony CRT set, but am having a problem. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction so I can go about fixing it.
I hook up my MHL cable to my Galaxy Nexus and plug an HDMI cable to the Sony CRT and the image appears, but then seems to flicker in and out between what I would expect to see and blackness.
The twist is that the picture seems pretty stable as long as I'm touching the screen (the situation is also better when PDK apps are running), so I'm cautiously optimistic this is a software issue concerning the GPU. If anyone has any more specific advice, I'm definitely open to hearing it.
Thanks.
Have you tried playing something else through the HDMI port of the TV? (a DVD player, a PC, etc.) The problem might be with the HDMI cable or the HDMI port itself and not the phone or MHL adapter
A settop box and game console work just fine through the same HDMI port and the same cable, so I'm pretty sure the problem is with the GN. Any ideas?
One bump for the weekend before I let this thread fade away. Hopefully a weekend reader will see this and know what's going on here.
Sounds like a faulty MHL adapter passing intermittent signal problems to the TV.

Yeah, the MHL adapter works great on several other sets, so I was assuming it something to do with the CRT.
What options do I have if I want to fix my HDMI input and my blown speaker on the EVO 4g? Appreciate the help!
bump anyone?
wel,, whats wrong with the HDMI-out. im JUST bought my cable off of ebay, so hopefully it works. and i do have a horrible bown speaker, i cant even go past 35% volume...

Whenever I go to plug it in it constantly goes off and on...Im guessing something is jacked with the port bc whenever I have the phone at a certain angle it works but then once I move the phone bam it stops working and the output to TV goes black...It cant be anything with the HDMI cable bc Ive tried three, & all three work on my XBOX360...Trying to find a tutorial for the HDMI port. The speaker looks pretty easy to swap out.

so the HDMI port is a little jacked up? also i managed to get my speaker working without a replacement, all you need is a needle, and it should work, i could post a video if you like, and if it doesnt work yyou can just go ahead and by another.
If you can post a video on how to fix it with the needle that would be great. I ordered one any ways they are cheap.

It doesn't work. Thought installing a new hdmi port could fix it to like new condition. Also, I thought the method to fix the speaker is by using a magnet? Your video talks about using a pin?

I used my method, and it worked fine. You can try it if you like. Also, does the little HDMI logo pop-up on the notification bar, sometimes I have problems getting it to work also, a reboot helps, go into your settings and make sure it's on automatic. And make sure whatever you're plugging it into is searching for signal

At times it works but the cord has to be angled a certain way. If you dont have it setup exactly at the right angle you lose signal....The only way I can get it to work is by holding the phone & HDMI cord a certain way...I know it has something to do with the port bc Ive tried the HDMI cord on an XBOX and it works fine...I just got the HDMI port in the mail today but I dont have any video on how to remove & install a new one.

I was thinking it was the cord but. The hdmi should be the same way as removing the charger port. You'll need to open the phone and solder very carefully. I recommend taking this to a phone store, make sure it's not a retail store like Verizon it something, like a cheap repair place. Tell them you have the part and they will only charge labor, ask how much the labor costs, mine cost$10. That's the only way I know how to fix that hdmi port

Well are there any other tests I can do to figure out if its the HDMI port or cord? I always thought it was the port bc even my charger port is somewhat loose & if I dont angle a cord correctly it wont charge my phone..

maybe trying another cord? if its doing it on BOTH charger port and hdmi then thats just wierd.. but try another cord and if the same problem maybe both ports got loose, it happens.
Ok I got the HDMI to work it was the HDMI cord that was causing the problem. I used a MOTORola HDMI cord & it worked perfectly! But now I was getting slow downs with my ROM & decided to wipe it to get rid of unneeded apps and data. Well now when I go use the HDMI app it doesnt work!! It says cable undetected but it obviously shows on the tv that its getting a signal...wthhh!?
