I need to send in my phone cause the speaker blew.
Currently I have 2.2 custom ROM with S-OFF. What steps can I take to revert it back to 2.1 S-ON. What order should I take these steps in. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!!

I basically would like to flash my phone to the stock 2.1 software. As soon I do the script to turn S-ON I am unable to load the stock 2.1 because it is saying it is an older version after it check the PB31IMG.zip file.

Just flash the newest leaked 2.2 Image as verizon is rolling them out anyway. They wont know that it was not an OTA. The softwrae version number and kernal will match the OTA's numbers.

The reason you can't go back with S-On is because your bootloader is too new. Flash the stock 2.1 image (with the 1.x radio and whatnot), re-root the phone so you can turn S-off, flash the 2.1 image again. This time it should work since you are on the correct bootloader.

I think you need a goldcard.
Even with gold card would not help. Any advise please.
this is due to your current rom is 1.21.405 and you can't flash any rom which is lower than this
It'll be the HBOOT probably - I assume the 3 ROMs are still on HBOOT 0.75 whereas 1.21.x.x is on 0.80. You could try and roll back the HBOOT to allow you to go back to your stock ROM but I've not tried it before so can't comment further

you could always donate some beers to a dev, ask them to remove the hboot from the rom you want and upload the rom.zip for you, then you can just flash the stock rom rom recovery
I currently have 2.2 with the leaked radio update but the location services and gps are not functioning at all so I wish to go back to stock. Is it possible to go back to 2.1 stock using the PB31IMG.zip file from the Hboot menu? How do I downgrade the radio back to 1.0? Does the radio need to be downgraded before or after I flash back to 2.1? or does the radio downgrade matter?
Once your radio is flashed to 2.05 (newest version) you can put any rom you'd like on your incredible. You could even install your old 2.1 and it will work fine (if not better) than your old radio.
You should just be able to go to clockwork mod recovery and restore your last nandroid backup or get another 2.1 rom off http://incredibleroms.com
Thank you! I used the nandroid backup I had and everything is good. Is it possible to take the radio back down to stock if I ever need to?
the new radio is the stock radio. it's just the radio from the most recent OTA. You shouldn't ever have a need to downgrade.
so no need to have concern accepting any OTA from verizon if I manually applied the leaked radio update?

I believe the update will look at your hboot version.
If I understand correctly the hboot version is changed when I root? So applying the PB31IMG.zip will take me back to the original hboot?

Just do a wipe/factory reset and it clears the GPS issue up!
This is a simple question that I have:
If I were to want to return to bone stock -- I mean like, fresh out of the cardboard box -- on my EVO, would using Bootloader to flash PC36IMG.zip replace EVERYTHING, including Amon-Ra's recovery image?
Just curious, and unfortunately there seems to be some FUD in some of the threads I've seen about unrooting and such.
Any knowledgeable folk have an answer?
T.I.A.
A "stock" recovery is no recovery. So if you unrooted, ran the ruu, ect, and tried to boot into recovery, you'd be met with the triangle and a ! indicating no recovery.

Aha!!!
Follow-up Question: I'm on a Mac and the RUU's I've seen are all in .exe files. Assuming I have the latest radios, do I need an RUU or is PC36IMG sufficient?

PC36IMG is sufficient. Same results as RUU. Just be sure to turn your S-on before running the PC36IMG, using the Unrevoked S on tool (that is if you ever used Unrevoked forever at any point in time)

I don't know if when you download it, it would change to the correct extension; you could always try changing it. Either way, you're in luck.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19699565/3.70 RUU Zip.zip
A link to my dropbox of a 3.70 RUU in PC36IMG form, just put on your sdcard and flash in the bootloader.
PC3GIMG.zip is just the name of the file that hboot looks for to flash, they are all different! Some PC36IMGs have recoveries, some have radios, some have ROMs, etc... You need to be careful which one you flash, and KNOW for sure whats in it before you do because you run the risk of messing up your phone if you flash the wrong one!

Yep, I rooted with unrEVOked, so I'd have to do UnrEVOked S-ON first.

Correct, then the PC36IMG and you'll be all set.
So what is the difference between an RUU and a PC36IMG.zip? My hardware 0003 evo has an 2.10 hboot and the baseband of 2.15. 00.11.19
If I want to unroot my phone back to stock out of the box what file do I need? And yes I know to do the s-on first...

The RUU (ROM Update Utility) is IN a PC36IMG.zip.
Turn S-ON back on.
Go into Bootloader.
Allow it to detect.
Update (make sure you have the correct PC36IMG.zip).
not to hi-jack the thread but say HTC/Sprint did upgrade to the EVO 4G to GB could i flash the "stock" recovery without running the ruu and wiping everything? i use stock rom but like the features Root and Amon Ra brings havent found a custom rom that like everything seems to be themed and not my style.

Again, "stock" recovery is no recovery. And if you were to upgrade, you'd have to root, and you can keep the rooted stock rom. You can flash CM7 which is basically stock android AOSP, not themed. Can always flash back if you don't like it, and everything is working.
Yeah I know about cm used it on pretty much everything g1 nexus mt4g etc I like some stuff sense have to offer over asop I always end up flashing to see the new stuff I prefer stock android but the usb transfer speed is killing me atm waiting for that to get fixed and I understand stock is recovery guess ima have to titanium backup which works but some issues thanks tho I try stuff nandroid is my bestfriend in android

Did you use unrEVOked to turn S-ON? If so, and please correct me if I'm wrong, to my understanding you can only use that method if you used unrEVOked to root originally. In which case, you may need to use a different method. Perhaps the reason for S-OFF coming back.
I am trying to go back to stock, I need some detailed steps, and most importantly need to know EXACTLY which stock ROM to download?
Here is all my info, please let me know if you need any more info!

First, I don't remember exactly what it's for, but I think you should remove that MIN number. I believe it has something to do with your account.
Now, are you trying to unroot the phone or install a rooted stock ROM? The thread title suggests the former, but the text suggests the latter.

No, you don't even need to unroot. Just run the RUU for your phone or look here for a stock ROM you can flash

Hey, i dont mean to jack this dudes thread but i have a question regarding this. If i ran the newest ruu, would that give me stock gingerbread? And would i then need to use revolutionary method to root again.

Yes, but if you are already rooted, and want to stay rooted, just flash a stock rooted gingerbread rom.

I dont see anywhere under my ROM manager to recover to stock?
Step one: Uninstall ROM Manager
Step two: Search the dev section for Amon Ra and flash that by renaming the file there to PC36IMG.zip, put it on your SD Card, NO in any folders.
Make sure Fastboot is turned off, then power down.
Hold Vol Down - Power til the bootloader comes on, it'll scan ask you to update, hit yes, when it's done it'll reboot, do the scan again, this time, say no. Then click on Recovery
Are you wanting a stock ROM just for the appearance/functionality or so that you can RMA the phone without Sprint knowing it was rooted?
If you just want the stock appearance then you don't need to bother unrooting. Just find any stock ROM online. Although, you SHOULD have made a backup of your stock system before ever flashing a custom ROM in the first place. However, if you didn't then check out the following link.

If you are sending your phone to Sprint and don't want them to know that it was rooted then you'll want to check the link below.

I'm trying to unroot my friends EVO. We rooted it back in the day with UNREVOKED. It was the one-click method.
I've searched for guides but can't find any. PLease help.
Again, I am talking about the old Undevoked rooting method we used, not Revolutionary.
How do i unroot?
Flash the unrevoked s-on tool in recovery. Then run an ruu or flash a PC36IMG RUU that matches the version of your bootloader, most likely 3.70.
Go to unrevoked website and dl the s-on file to flash. Ur radio must be no higher than version 2.00.11.19 so u must downgrade that b4 u flash s-on patch. Then just ruu or flash stock pc36img

I tried that but it fails every time.I get the "ERROR[140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR / The ROM Update Unity cannot update your Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
When I try to do it through the bootloader I do not get to the "update" option. It just fails.
I downloaded this RUU and it went through successfully

Also what Rom can I flash? It must be zip format.
Where did you get the download from Aloupha?
*Edit* Never mind found it. Trying to unroot now.
Another question. I flashed backed to my original backup and the phone looks stock. Do you guys think I could get my camera lense replaced through sprint without doing a full unroot? Phone looks as stock as they come...

Well I took my phone into sprint with just a stock rom flash and my phone was repaired without question. Although the rep stated that they don't repair physical damage...smh. I declined to tell him that Sprint has repaired many of my phones of my 10 YEAR tenure.
