I am currently running SkyRaider3 RC3 with a radio 1.00.03.04.06 which has been modified to permit AP tether. How do I flash the newest 2.15.x radio? Just throw the .zip on the SD root and flash it in Clockwork? I am also S-OFF.
Thank you.
Go Here
Download the file in the first post. Place on root of sdcard, meaning /sdcard/. Reboot phone into hboot. It will automatically detect the update and ask if you would like to apply it. Select Yes and let the update commence.
This will take a very long time. Probably 10 min or so. DO NOT PULL YOUR BATTERY OR DO ANYTHING TO DISRUPT THE UPDATE. I suggest putting your phone down, and leaving it there till it's done.
Also, there is no such thing as a stupid question, your just trying to learn, although a search would have probably helped you out
Thank you for replying :]
Loaded that file onto the root of my SD card, restart into hboot, and while it detects the file, it says something about there being something wrong with the image. I can't read it very well - some messages scroll quickly, then disappear, leaving just the hboot menu. Tried redownloading twice and no difference. Strange.
I assume that I'm not supposed to extract anything from PB31IMG.zip?

Your sdcard has to be formatted FAT32. Back ur sdcard up to ur PC and reformat the whole card fat32. Then put all files back on and try again.

Here is a Mac thread discussing FAT32: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?ac=375750
FAT32 is a format which works with both Macs and PCs - should be very easy is the consensus.
I haven't yet flashed the 2.15 radio - have been doing some bandwidth speed tests on my 1.x radio, and speeds seem very solid... not sure if I should bother with the flash after all...
This is very easy is you have S-OFF. just download the PB31IMG.zip file place on root of SD CARD and boot into HBOOT then follow the steps.

I know it has been asked alot but i have spent literally 7 hours straight trying to do this. I followed the guides and add the file to my sd card but when I open up boot loader it goes through the sd card and never loads that image. I would really appreciate some help as I have no idea why it is doing this! Thanks!
Edit: It always says no image when I know for a fact that there is a image in the .zip file

Just follow this and make sure you are putting the update on the SD card and not internal storage.

How is your card formatted? Make sure it's a default FAT32 format. I have seen what you describe happen when I formatted the card as regular FAT.

Same problem here... use Fat32.
I also changed the allocation unit size to1024 to get it to work.

Edit: Damn, still no update prompt. Hopefully it will come soon and I won't have to use this stock, rootless rom for much longer.

Enough with the sarcasm. Obviously he's waiting for the official OTA so just cool down.
Another note: from what I understand as long as you receive notifications you only need to unroot when the OTA actually hits. Anyone else know more on this?

Hey, you're the douche that's known for his nerd rage on these forums? Correct? I Just read your post over in the other thread where you went completely off and wrote a novel to some kid because he didn't agree with you on what deserved to be in development or not.

I'm having issues unrooting. My USB port is broken (It will not even charge unless held in the right position), which is why I need to take my phone to the Sprint store to get repaired. I have already flashed the UnrEVOked s-on tool and that worked alright for me. The problem now is that whenever I try to flash the PC36IMG.zip through hboot, it will not recognize it. My hboot is version 0.93.0000. What can I do next? If any more information is needed, please let me know.
Thanks.
Idk bruhh, good luck with that tho.

What does "it will not recognize it" mean?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
By that I mean that when hboot loads, it will look for the PC36IMG's but it will just say "No Image!" underneath PC36IMG.zip.

Can you redownload the file, and double check that you have it named correctly?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I already tried that. I used 2 different mirrors and neither of them worked. MD5's were both good too. The names were correct also.
ok and you definitely renamed the file to PC36IMG.zip? I am just triple checking because that's a common thing people overlook sometimes. Or they don't realize they need to rename it. Or they forget that it must be put on the root of the sd card.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yeah, I know. But I've triple checked everything and it just does not seem to be working. I'm 100% positive that it's named PC36IMG.zip (yes, I've checked the file extension too) and it is in the root of my SD card.
Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried using nandroids but they didn't fix the fact that hboot doesn't recognize my PC36IMG (I was trying to downgrade updates to the phone, didn't work).

When u rename the pc36img, the .zip is already there. Try taking the .zip off & boot into hboot. If it is named right & on the root of your sdcard it will load it.

I got it, I had to hold the USB cable in the right position and I flashed it using Fastboot.
I have a rooted phone by unrevoked and have clockwork mod recovery 3.0.6.(Because the latest version wouldn't work with the rom i was trying to flash) and flashed the rom but the it wont boot. im stuck at the white screen and when i try to go to recovery it just crashes with 2 white vertical lines on the sides of the screen. I have no idea how to fix this. someone please help me
That's you having an incompatible CWM on an slcd screen. Update to a different one by flashing it in hboot.

Directly on the root of the card. Aka, not in any folders. Otherwise hboot won't see it.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
how do i get hboot to use the zip file instead of the other cwm recovery because its not working. Also do i have to name the zip anything?
You put it on the root of your SD card and boot into hboot by booting while holding power and volume down. It will automatically find the file and ask you if you want to flash it. It has to be name PB31IMG.zip
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
My phone did not automatically reconize the file in hboot when I named it PB31IMG.zip. So I went to the Verizon store. They're sending me a new phone but i would still like to get this one to work because they let me keep it. I'm probably going to send it to a guy that can rewrite the software. However since Im running low on money I probably wont send it in for a while so if anyone notices anything i didnt or thinks they know the problem, please let me know. Thank you
cvbcbcmv said:
it's probably PB31IMG.zip.zip. Try getting rid of the .zip and see if your extracting program will still recognize it, if yes, it has a hidden .zip, and keep it like that, if no, then you need the zip there. Can you do that for me? That's probably your problem.

Yes, this happened to me early on. You ususally don't see the extension (the .zip) part of the file name, so when you add it you are creating a file named PB31IMG.zip.zip. So like the good person above says, just make it say PB31IMG and it will likely be fixed. If not, THEN make it say PB31IMG.zip
Good luck!
Yes got it. Wow that was frustrating. Thank you so much everyone who helped me
Basically my Desires micro usb connector is broken and I am sending it for repair on monday.
They only asked for the phone - no battery, back or sd card - so should I return the phone to stock since I'm rooted and s-off.
What would be the best way to do this keeping in mind I can't use usb.
My desire was originally orange branded and is from the uk.
1. Download the Alpharev downgrader.zip and rename it to PB99IMG.zip
2. Orange did not release any RUU's (The things that factory reset your phone), so you will need a goldcard and a WWE (World wide english) RUU.
3. Once you've made your goldcard, extract the rom.zip. To extract the rom.zip:
[PHASE1]- we need to extract rom.zip from the RUU.
[P1/STEP1]- Run the RUU (BUT DO NOT PLUG IN YOUR PHONE OR CONTINUE), move it to the side as it cannot be minimised.
[P1/STEP2]- go to start menu, and use the "run" feature. Type in %temp%
[P1/STEP3]- select "date modified" to "today" (to make it easier to find). There are should now be 2 folders with long names of random characters.
[P1/STEP4]- search the folders for rom.zip and extract it to the desktop.
Click to collapse
4. Put the Alpharev downgrader PB99IMG.zip on your the root of your sd-card (not in any folders)
5. boot into HBOOT (NOT fastboot)
6. When you are prompted to update, select yes and wait for the process. Once completed. Poweroff.
7. Rename to rom.zip you extracted to PB99IMG.zip
8. Delete the PB99IMG.zip FROM YOUR SD-CARD, and replace it with the new one
9. Boot into HBOOT and select yes to update. The process takes a while. DO NOT INTERRUPT IT OR YOU WILL MOST LIKELY BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!!!!!

you can get the CID with this (just stick your sd-card in a usb adapter ), because you want the CID of the sd-card not the phone, then just follow this tutorial, and skip the part where they get the CID.
Just a thing to point of with that tool, when you copy down the CID, do it without any spaces or commas... just the numbers/ letters
