So I just flashed Cyanogenmod 6 RC2 and it's awesome. Only real issue that I'm having is that my visual voice mail is sending me garbage text messages when I get a voice mail. I've tried blacklisting the number in hand cent, but I'm still getting the text message alerts and it is very annoying. Has anyone found a fix for this?
I've looked around the forums here and else where and I've not seen anything I haven't tried yet.
Updating to the 6.0 Release, might fix the issue. I'll post after the update.
Silly no good. Any ideas XDA?

Download private conversation app in the market. Can block SMS, phone call, and both SMS and phone calls from the blacklist on it. Works for me. Had the same problem.

Ok. I just recently picked up my EVO and am already experiencing problems.
I've been on the phone with Sprint for about 6 hours all together and no one can pinpoint my issue...
The problem is the visual voicemail will not retrieve messages. I just recently was able to dial 1 and login into my voicemail.
The only way to have visual voicemail retrieve my messages is if I:
go to visual voicemail
go to compose
send a message to activate my voicemail (can't provide links)
go to settings--->applications----->voicemail
clear data
home
go back to the visual voicemail app.... and wait.
After waiting a few minutes, the app eventually retrieves all the voicemails that were sent.....
But I've had the Moment, Hero, and now EVO.... and the with the Moment and Hero I never had to go through a loophole like this.
Are there any fixes for this? Or at least is this a known issue? Before people reply with a "search forums"... trust me I have. The only way I knew about the loophole was by searching. All the other sites I've been to never had a fix, just a complaint thread.
Also, I'd rather not download Visual Voicemail or Google Voicemail. I paid retail price and would like the device to work... Ya know?
Thanks in advance!
What Rom are you using? Just asking?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm not on any rooted ROM. Just stock 2.2.
OK I know this has been brought up a few times in the CM threads. I get this ghost VM notification on CM6 and on all the nightlys. I also am getting this ghost VM notification on the MIUI rom. I do NOT get this notification on ANY sense ROMs I have tried.
I read this Forum everyday as much as I can. I have tried search. Every thing that comes up close to what I have going on doesn't seem to get fully answered as to why this is coming up on some phones and not others.
I flashed CM6 and a few nightlys on my Wifes phone and She has NEVER received the *86 VM notification.
I am always updated to the most current PRL, PRI and NV. Nothing I have tried will clear this message. On the CM6 ROM I can hit the clear button under the notification bar and that clears it for a little while but then the damn thing comes back.
Can anyone explain this and offer up a FIX. I know I'm not the only one.
Any one have any help on this?

Thank you Brutus for the input.
I know all about that part of the set-up. This DOES NOT get rid of the Ghost notification. I still will get a notification that I have a voice mail (and YES I have checked to make sure my VM's are cleared out).
Just FYI I use google voice when I am on CM6 or nightlys. Google Voice works great but still will not clear the VM notification.

Dont skip my post I am going to say two diffrent things . First normaly you get the notification because you received a voicemail. The stock rom has a code writen in to block that text so that you dont see the notification when you receive a voicemail.
Now Jetdr I will try to answer your question here. I think your voicemail hasnt been provisioned. Click on your VVM app and hit menu, when you hit menu you should have 3 options, compose, search and settings. If you have a 4th option that says unsent or undelivered click it. When VVM sets up, it automaticly sends a voicemail to the server to setup your VVM. If that message doesnt get sent then it probably never will. You will have to uninstall the VVM.Apk and reinstall the app. One time when I was setting up CM6 I had to install the voicemail apk several times before I got it to provision correctly. If it doesn provision a minute or two after you install it then its not going to. Not sure if this is whats causing your ghost voicemail text but I am thinking this is it. The easiest way to tell is to just click the vvm app and see if it shows four options or three. It should only show three.
If you are using google voice you dont still have the sprint VVM installed do you? If you dont have the sprint VVM installed then I am not sure whats causing your issue considering my directions to fix your issue is in regardes to the sprint vvm app.
Hope that helps.
I've tried all that and more.... nothing fixes it. I've concidered calling sprint but don't want to ruin my insurance..

Twilk... thanks so much for the response. I did all you suggested and I flashed back over to the newest MIUI ROM and I still have the VM notification. I made sure I didn't have any voice mails before I flashed. The notification will not clear even with the settings selected to not show.
Initially it has the *86 number but when I change the VM settings to my number it of course then comes up in the drop down box with my number.
The same thing happens on CM ROMs.

My notification says 4 voicemails... so I'm wondering if when I rooted my phone I had voicemails.. I don't really listen to my voicemails.. i'd rather just receive a text from someone... I just wish that I had made sure to clear my box before I rooted.. not sure if this is the reason for it... but it doesn't seem like there are many users with this problem. I'm sort of anti-twitter or I would ask cyanogen myself.. this is soo annoying! Especially since I hate voice mail to begin with.. I don't read my bills much, but I think sprint charges for voicemail.. anyway I can cancel my voicemail service? Also they charge me to keep a spending limit.. I want to call sprint and ask to cancel my voicemail..

Updates ???

Anybody ever figure this one. Or do we just clear the message on each reboot?
Clear dalv. and cache, then change *86 to your mobile number then block 9016 from your sprint account.I added youmail and mine works perfect.I get txt and VM very quick. If the person that left you the voice mail is in your contacts it will show them as leaving the VM and you can just tap on there pic and it will play the ones they left you.
And I have no phantom notifications or anything odd.

Here. That's the only known way to get rid of it. It's a PITA but it works.
I've been using gvoice thru Sprint primarily since they teamed up and lately I've been having an issue. I'm not receiving all my texts from my partner for sometimes days after he sent them. Texts are basically received when he sends them or not received by gvoice for hours or days later. I've only recently noticed this with his texts and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Ive been useing it since the start as well. have not had this issue or any other issues. How ever before gvoice thing i would never receive any text messages from one of my friends ever (6+ months), but was fixed when i switched to gvoice.. So maybe something similar but i dont know what it is.
sidenote: he is on t-mobile . but i dunno if that matters cause my entire famliy is on t-mobile as well and i got all there messages.
Hopefully u find your answer its annoying
Yeah I've enjoyed the sprint+gvoice experience until now. It's really odd. For now I've switched to talking to my partner via gtalk. I've filed a report with the gvoice help site. I'm debating calling Sprint but I'm unaware if it's a Sprint related issue or a gvoice issue BC it's not like gvoice isn't notifying me of the incoming texts, it's just not receiving random texts from my partner for days.

its worth a shot but i bet they have rather limited google voice knowledge. Maybe for last resort go into settings of ur google voice and revert back to sprint and see if it comes through. Ive never done this so i dont know if you can revert right back to google voice or not , I dont see why not though.
I had to spend 1/2 hour on phone with tech support due to Google voice "taking over my phone". It wouldn't allow me to call without it or disable it. I don't think my situation is relevant but perhaps Sprint can help on their end.

I hate gvoice... It completely screwed call and text receipt on my wife's EVO. The only way to get rid of it is to go to the Google voice website and remove your phone from the account. Once we did that all was well.
Just posting in case anyone has or had the same GVoice issues that I have.
I disabled GV via desktop GV settings and reverted back to my original GV #. I then re-enabled the Sprint+GV integration and so far I have received all of the texts that have been sent to me just like I should. *EDIT* Problem still exists. I'm ****ed.
I've noticed that I keep getting this text message as stated on the title heading. I want to know if anyone else is getting this and if someone knows what it means.
this is it:

I have this message at least 15 times in my sms inbox.
Wow... I'm thank god I'm not the only one...
Edit: slightly different, same format. I've only gotten it once or twice, don't recall the relation to LOS... Though I rarely get them.

I got one the other day as well. I figured it to be some sort of spam.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I'm only relating it to LOS because I'm paying attention to the occurrence and it seems to correlate. actual cause and a direct relationship is still a question.
I have had mutiple LOS and I have not seen a text like that. I get texts from my wife multiple times though. This is getting weirder by the day.
Driving me crazy. I get LOS but not crazy texts, I get missed texts and my friends get texts I send 3 or 4 days later.

Whatever shortcode "mine was 8737" your getting go to sprint.com and block the code or *2 and they will block it for you...
Edit: Actually that didn't work so its not going over the network.
yeah, mine is from the same short code.
question: do of you having this issue also have visual voicemail not working?
i think it's related to voice mail or google voice mail.
i'm getting the same thing.
Also got it when i was on TP2 and EVO.

Blocked the code and still got the same short code...So blocking the code as well as checking my GV messages and not getting the code its something on the phone. Haven't ran a log yet so have no idea whats causing it but didnt start till I used LOSKERNAL.
FIXED!
i found how to fix this and the reason. basically the issue has nothing to do with LOS, other than that is when sprint voicemail is trying sync after the service restarts. i posted the fix for the problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306721
It is voice mail related. I use GV myself. I don't know how or why it happens or how it is related to voice mail but it is. It happens only soon after a restart for me.

Nice, that works. I just froze Go SMS but same idea. I think it's happening to those of us who never ran the voicemail app and just added Google Voice instead.
I was running synergy for a while. It was the beat rom out there to me, absolutely loved it until I ran into an issue. I'd go a half day or so without receiving a text but would think nothing of it because I'd be at work. When I'd get off though people would call me asking why I was ignoring them when in fact I hadn't received any texts. This started happening day in and day out. There would be the rare occasion that I did receive the texts and just not get any notifications of them but mostly they just weren't received. Does anyone know what may be the cause of my text issues. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
i would always do a full wipe and reflash. I've had that problem on Synergy as well as MikG. I also use an app called Ghostly Gingerbread SMS from the market which catches all of the missed messages (i highly recommend it). Apparently Gingerbread has some kind of bug with the internal database.
I wouldn't blame that issue on Gingerbread. I've been using Gingerbread forever and the ONLY time I had that issue was when Google Voice completely screwed up my message handling.
OP, if you're using Google Voice make sure your Sprint number isn't integrated with it at all. If it is then Google Voice is handling your messages and you'll have to modify strings within the Google Voice app in order to get them on your normal messaging app.
Sent from my Supercharged HTC Evo 4G using XDA App
I would because it has happened to me and I've had to use that same app with Syngergy. I use Google Voice but ALWAYS skip Sprint intergration as I want my texts going to the Sense SMS not Google Voice. I only use GV for my voicemails.
Apparently, if your RAM gets too low, GB will end the SMS database process which will cause your phone to lose messages.
I had this happen between me and my girlfriend. We text constantly and there has been many instances when I have used Synergy or really any Sense 3.0 based ROM that several messages would not come to my phone.
It does not seem to happen as much on the Sense 3.5 Roms I've used as there is either more RAM available or perhaps the later versions of gingerbread (I'm running 2.3.5) have this bug fixed.
It was very annoying to say that least, thinking your being ignored when really your phone just never "saved" the text, lol.
Thank you for the help, ghostly does the trick wonderfully
